The city of Marrakesh is the queen of beauty. The cities of the world kidnap minds and hearts. The temptation of East and West. Everyone fell in love with her and her love to poets and writers.
Don't take the word ''Riad'' for cheap. There are Riads which are very expensive. The prices can go up to 300 Dollars a night. It depends on the services and the Riad itself.
Riads are not "hotels" they 're private homes , it's just some of them are rented to tourists by the owners ! but most of riads are private . A riad means " a garden of paradise" or a piece of paradise !
I'm moroccan, I confirm all you said and all your tips are good especially for the new visitors. Forced commerce or charming isn't and wasn't in our culture but in crowded places (like jamma lafna) it's so ridiculous how sellers want to force you to buy and its so bad for our country and our religion forbidden this kind of selling. Thanks again for the nice video!
It's not "taboo" in Arab culture to have one's picture taken !! lol and the Moroccan culture is not exactly Arab it's Berber , Arab , Andalusian , African , mediterranean and Jewish culture
Its not taboo. However pictures are considered closely connected to vanity and self adulation or the risk thereof. And thus it can lead to disapproval of God. In the esotheric sense, a lot of people believe in the projection of evil intent also called the evil eye. A lot of people will feel exposed to the first or second danger...or both. And some will want a small financial compensation for the "risk" of exposure of themselves or their goods. Im Moroccan.
I am taking my children to Marrakesh in the summer, one thing i am worried about is finding a toilet when we are out and about in the city. does anyone know if there are public toilets?
you will have to use cafe shops's toilets or restaurant's toilets, there are some public toilets but they may not be clean or the seat might be in arabic style
6:12 , 'want stuff out of you ????', well ...you are in their home country, and you are in the souks. Isn't this the place where they sell stuff. Be real, you're visiting ...don't be cheap
in the Arab culture it is not forbidden to take pictures of other people, but you have to respect their intimacy like everywhere on earth, and secondly MOROCCAN culture is not Arabic one only , but it is amazigh, Jewish, African, andalous and European also, these what we call multiculturalism.
You talking bulshit, Moroccan speek darija( tamazight, Frans, Spaans, arabic) not arabic , also speek tamazight, en we dont have arabic cultur we have tamazight cultur . Stop lying please!
