Welcome to Morocco Leesa, I hope you enjoyed your experience despite the scams, tourists scam is a huge problem in Morocco the last few years, I hope something will be done to stop that because it's getting out of control...sorry you had to experience that :/
Thank you 💛 I still really enjoyed our time there thankfully, and I also met many wonderful and kind people along the way too! I also hope something will be done about the tourist scams because Morocco is such a beautiful country and it would be a shame for people to stop visiting simply because of experiences like mine :(
I don’t know, sorry! We never saw what the standard tents look like. I think the only difference is that you get your own toilet and shower whereas in the standard package you have to share. Keep in mind it’s only 1 night in the desert so maybe sharing is not huge deal. Have fun!!
Hi Leesa. My husband and I are thinking of visiting Morocco, and this was a very helpful video. We usually travel with just carry on luggage, so we'll each have a small suitcase and each have a smaller bag as well. We want to do the desert tour, but I was wondering how this would work with our luggage? I see that the tour includes a camel ride. We would book the nicer tents. Does our luggage get transported right to our tents or do we have to store it somewhere before the tour? I noticed that most people had backpacks for the desert. We could always buy a couple of compactable backpacks on amazon to pack in our luggage if needed. Thanks for your help.
@sw-ns1yi no, I can’t remember how long it is but you do it during sunset and then the next day during sunrise. You can contact the travel/tour agency for more details :)
Glad you enjoyed watching! We returned to Fes, and flew out from there. I would recommend staying overnight in Chefchaouen/Blue Village and taking the bus back to Fes the next day if possible.
If I’m planning to go Sahara desert trip then should I book my hotel in markesh only the days I’m staying or for the whole trip as I think Sahara desert trip included accommodation etc. My plan for 7 days so Desert trip 3 days and rest of the day I would like to stay in markesh but will go Casablanca for day trip so please give me idea for hotel booking ….thanks
Hi Leesa, thanks for the video. I am looking at this 3 day trip from Marrakesh to Fez and I am in between making a decision to book a luxury tent or a standard tent. You said you got an upgrade for free, how does this happen? And do you have any information about the standard tents, I can't find any image about how the standard ones look like and I am not sure if it is worth to upgrade for 90 dollars just for one night...
We got lucky and the luxury tents just happened to be available when we visited. I never saw the standard tents, but I think the main difference is that you get your own toilet and shower instead of having to share it with everyone else. I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker for just one night, and hopefully you will also get lucky like us!
We actually returned to Fes and flew out from there. I’d recommend that more than going back to Marrakech which is way too far from Chefchaoen. It’s about a 3.5 hr bus ride, so half day travel!
Leesa sister, it has been a year since your trip in Morocco! Please come visit us again! May I recommend this new destination in Morocco :) Akchour Waterfalls, in Morocco. I am a French Moroccan married to an Australian man living here in Sydney :) Morocco is not far from Amsterdam ! You are welcome in my home land :) Please come as much as you want!!! To enjoy the cheap foods and nice sceneries, the beach and surfing, everything! Take good care of yourself!
Hello, thank you for all the info. I'm looking to visit Morocco this year. I wonder, did you take tour during all your time in Morocco or just in some places? I had the the same scam experience during my time in Egypt but back in that time I went by my self so I don't know is going with a tour guided will help to avoid those scams.
We only took a tour when seeing the Sahara Desert (the 3 day tour in the middle of the trip). We also got a day tour guide for a few hours on our first day in Marrakech, but that also had some scammy elements to it (e.g. taking us to shops where he knew the owners), so we ended up doing everything else ourselves which was a much nicer experience!
Hi, i know this comment is a little late, but I noticed a vegan book behind you, and I’m vegan and going to Morocco, if you are vegan, is it easy to find vegan food there? And on the Sahara desert tours could you find things to eat? Thank you!
I ate a vegetarian diet while I was there (not vegan), but there are a few very nice vegan places in Fes and Marrakech! Veggie Pause was a stand out in my memory. And of course vegetarian/vegan tagine can be easily found. However we did a tour for the Sahara desert and the vegetarian food was not very good, I’m sorry to say :(
Don’t answer and don’t respond to any hassler. Just keep walking. Keep your hands crossed and folded up in your chest, so no one can pull your hands and draw the craps on your hands.
No not all! It was very hot during the day and in the evenings you just need a jacket and pants, maybe at the most a light scarf. In the desert, you should take a warm jacket and beanie as it gets cold in the evenings and early mornings.
I was all set to add Marokko to my bucket list until I got to the end of the video.... did you see any solo female travelers? That's my biggest concern being a female alone in a place which is maybe not that female or foreigner friendly.
I think it really depends on how comfortable you might be with unwanted attention, or ability to assert yourself in situations where people are a bit pushy. As I said in the video, as far as I know the interactions never get actually violent but they can be upsetting or uncomfortable if you’re not used to it. The smaller the city, the less you’ll be bothered (chefchaoen was a very positive experience). I would also look into hiring a guide for the day/when visiting the markets - this helps a lot. Finally, I just read this great blog article which hopefully gives you more insight on whether it’s the right place for you: www.neverendingfootsteps.com/travelling-morocco-solo-female/
I think it really depends on the kind of person you are. Personally I was glad to visit with my husband. I am a short petite woman, am not very assertive in general, and absolutely can’t stand unwanted attention or any kind of aggression (even if it’s harmless). But others may be less bothered by these things, or maybe physically you might stick out less as a tourist. If I was to go back, I would skip Marrakech and Fes, and go to the smaller cities which I have heard are more chilled.
Marrakech can be nasty at night for a solo girl...I'm Moroccan from Casablanca and I love Marrakech, but don't recommend to go there at night even with a group of girls...if you have no choice make sure you get a male tour guide, Casablanca, Rabat and northern cities are safer
Hello Leesa, I came from your living in Netherlands video. I want to immigrate there permanently since my country law towards gay people is prison and whips😢. But I'm second guessing my decisions since I saw a lot of comments saying the tax is high as a scam. Would you or any kind person in this comment section reccomend me on where to go? Or is Netherlands somewhat ok from the rumor?😔
The taxes are high in the Netherlands but everything works (nearly) perfectly! I would say it’s one of the most well organised and efficient countries in Europe. So you get what you pay for :)
Haha that’s true 😂 but it’s less about the money, and more about sometimes not feeling respected as a person. The tourist scams sometimes make you feel unnecessarily scared or unwelcome, which is not a nice feeling!

Hi Leesa, thank you for video ✨😍 Were the buses comfortable and where did you buy the tickets?
Thank you so much for sharing this great video
Welcome to visit Morocco with our knowledgeable and professional team
Hi Leesa, I'm going to be taking that 3 day tour. Do you know if the Deluxe package is much better or worth it over the standard package? Thanks!

The luggage is fully taken care of by the tour guide company :)
Is the camel ride for the entire day?

What is a fair tip to pay for them to take our luggage or tip a driver or tip a waiter so on and so fourth

Great vlog! Was it an issue traveling around with your luggage?
Not at all! We didn’t carry a lot with us (just hand luggage) so that made it easy to get around
Hi Leesa! Thanks for the tips, it has been useful to plan our upcoming trip. One question, how did you return from Chefchaouen to Marrakesh?
We actually returned to Fes, and flew out from there!
@@LeesaYuvery wise of you 😅

How much should you pay the shop to see the leather tannery? In USD
I think we paid about 5 USD for the both of us to enter
Hi, may i know if you joined the local tour? if yes, which travel agency did you go with? Thanks.
Yes we did! All details about our Marrakech-Sahara Desert-Fes tour is in the description box ☺️

Hi. Is it safe there for a solo traveller?
I think it’s safer as a guy than it would be as a woman
Three month in morroco (1970) was 16 years old😮😮..❤❤..
I don't know why do people go to Marrakech and chose to skip Essaouira 🙄?
Because most tourists like to visit the biggest most famous cities first and don’t have all the time in the world to visit every single other city 🙄
