You can now realize from where the tiles in Portugal came. The “Moors” (os Mouros) who were in Portugal for 700 years were basically Moroccans who invaded the Iberian peninsula.

Even the name of Portugal comes from there. Many Portuguese people are of Moors origin but they don't know. unfortunately the Catholic Church has sidelined Iberian history
What a smart comment coming from a portuguese brother. Spaniards are saying that morocco was created in 1956. They clearly didn't study history. Morocco was created in 789, 5 dinasties ruled the country. The dinasty of the current king is since the XVI century. The Koutoubia, la giralda of Sevilla and the Hassan tower of Rabat where made by the same architect from Marrakech during the almohad empire that conquered Iberia. We have the same blood and sometimes the same faces. The tiles of Fes are 1000x more difficult to make than any type of tiles that you can find in europe.
Morocco protected the jews which is why there is plenty of moroccan jews . Why have you not mention that part?

Its a Moroccan art and still exist and preserved, and the Moroccan who took it to the other countries because the kingdom of Morocco at that time was a big empire .

The snake charmer's instrument is called a ghaita and it's a wind instrument similar to an oboe. Not sure if you left Morocco already but if not, please go visit Essaouira at the seaside! I lived there for 3 months and it's gorgeous, a real mix of cultures. You can take a bus there, it takes around 2-3 hours.

Portugal has a lot of Arab influence, in its southern part of the country (south of Lisbon, especially Alentejo and Algarve), this influence is very visible in the architecture and tiles, as well as some words in Portuguese that are of Arab origin.
Its name is the Moroccan Moorish Berber influence, but the Arabs in the Arabian Peninsula do not resemble us at all...
Morocco is not an Arab country. Morocco is an amazigh muslim country, who unfortunately when taking its independence from European powers decided to take on the Arabian identity and complete ignore its native one until lately. Which , truthfully, is a bad mistake to use religion to change one’s identity and completely against Islam. (Unless if some practises go against Islamic practises or monotheism) Fortunately, in Morocco, thousands of people still speak Tamazight and the culture is still the foundation of the country. Ps. Fun fact, Arabs don’t understand Moroccan darija aka. a creole language that we call today “Arabic”, but really derived from a mix of tamazight, Arabic, Spanish and French languages. Have a good day! This completely makes sense since it’s the country in the most extreme west further from the “Arab” world, which in reality is the Muslim world.

I want to explain to you the SIM card. If the balance runs out, you can recharge it. 1 GB equals 10 dirhams, which is equivalent to 1 dollar.
2 GB is equivalent to 2 dollars...
Nuts, that's how much i pay in roaming. Anyhow, i took from inwi and it was like 250 for 50G, but it was not prepaid, they asked me to pay another 300 after 2 weeks and to this day did not understood why, the month was not over, so i didn't and it worked the whole month.
We loved Morocco! Travelled twice now! When in Marrakech a great restaurant near the Jemma El Fnaa market is the Clocks Cafe amazing Camel Burgers. If its still run the same way the employees are on a gov program with schooling where they work towards their education 👍. Very clean well run cafe! Hope you travel out to Merzouga too excellent sahara dunes camel rides! Great stay at toombuctou Hotel spelling might be off but its close!

Hi Guys, I spent a week touring Morocco last year. I found Fes was very intense in the Medina with a lot more hustling.
Try and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis - very interesting.
Highlight of my trip was the blue city of Chefchaouen - beautiful place.
Tangier is nice as well.

Islamic architecture is different.... Islamic architecture in Morocco is different from Islamic architecture in Egypt. Islamic architecture in Syria and Lebanon is different from Islamic architecture in Turkey. Likewise, Islamic architecture in Iran is different... There is no The relationship between them.... True, good winter stop, but last year we had a heatwave, 51.2 highest ever recorded in north africa, no too good, but winter is nice a few days of clouds and rain, but 10 12 days overall max, im living there 3 years now, and I travel out from there ever couple of months, im in Dublin Ireland this weekend for a concert and a little food shopping cheese tea coffee chocolate, those get you through the bad days 😂, very important but back in agadir Monday

Mint tea is usually fresh mint and sage infused in a teapot or I make it by crushing both ingredients together and boiling it in a saucepan..sieve it in a cup n sugar or honey to taste and enjoy!!

It has been a long time since I went to Marrakesh but I did stay for 10 nights doing 4 day trips and 3 day Sahara Tour, and spent the rest of the time exploring Marrakesh (day and night)

Unfortunately I was only able to make it to Casablanca. I was in the U.S. Marine Corps at the time and on deployment. So it was a free trip for me but one I’d love to redo because their is soooooo much more to see and I’m looking forward to getting some ideas from you two.

I get the impression that the real living life-the aspect that is charming and valuable-in Marrakech takes place behind doors. The vibe in the public spaces seems so uninspired. It’s like no one in them profoundly wants to be in them. It’s a dead town. Busy but dead.

Glad you enjoyed navigating Djeema El Fina and its Medina. I was surprised to see you had an easy walk inside the market. I found Djeema El Fina very very busy and was hassled so many times even by small children. That was Sept. end of summer recommended as best time to travel (May and Sept.) according to some experts….Just like in Cairo in the pyramids of Egypt, all you could say was no or “laa” and you continue your walk. Yes, this souk is I think the oldest and largest. I didn’t really enjoy it much because of the constant hassling but lots of different crafts you can buy from metals to wood and the different spices. However in Fez, the Tala’a Kebira souk though it’s a 12 century market, I enjoyed observing their life unchanged like the walls that surround more than a thousand years way before the European Christians arrived. Their mode of transporting goods is still by mules and donkeys. It was fascinating and I was transported in time there. . Hope you went to Fez and Casablanca too. Marrakech is rich in culture with its historic charm. Our tour guide said, it’s where most French people go to enjoy their spring to summer holidays and I agreed. Their resorts, hotels and alleyways are just alluring and enchanting ❤️

@@JumpingPlaces ha, the last draw was that we stayed at this luxury hotel. After a tour, we went back to our hotel and walked to our room…. There was a manager and three housekeeping staff going through our room!! It was our 4th day, with the Do Not Disturb sign hanging on the door. We were flabbergasted and livid! They said it was standard check in on the room!!! After 30 countries, never has that happened. We packed up, left, and we flew out of the country on the next flight out. Never again. Such an absolute violation.
Dang! Yeah that sounds bad. Why would they all have to be in your room also
@@JumpingPlaces they said it was a “standard” check in to make sure the room is in good condition since we opted for no daily cleaning. Absolutely a violation. They could’ve asked us, while we were in the room if they could come in to check. Although, that would’ve been bizarre in itself. Sadly, we have no desire to ever go back.

Next time try to visit Essaouira. In the north, Tetouan the beautiful Mediterranean gem is worth a trip. Only 45 mins from southern Spain. And don’t listen to people. Morocco 🇲🇦 is safe.
