    Had a RIPP kit on my 3.6 WK2, and it more or less sounded the same. It’s 100% normal for the Blower to sound like that. There are different “trims” available for the kit designers to use, RIPP uses a “S” trim which is very noisy. Not sure what one you have, but safe to assume it’s inline with the noisy ones. What you hear is gear lash. At idle the rpm is not 100% consistent so as it’s bouncing around u hear that noise... when driving, it goes away. You are good bro, just drive and enjoy the power it makes. I know it’s a scary thing thinking ur Blower is bad, but it’s not. You will notice the Blower is going to change it’s sound ( gear lash, Blower whistle, all kinds of sounds) even after 4k miles, still was changing.
    Enjoy your setup!

    Also, that Z06 in the shop was very nice.

    As mentioned on previous video, this is the way mine sounds as well. Yours sounds normal. If there was anything wrong you would have seen it in the oil. I think the noise changes have a lot to do with air density and temperature. I’ve had my Procharger for close to 9 years now. I’ve never had any issues with it. They are loud and noisy, but they are reliable.
    I loved your question about the oil in the hose, btw. I was wondering the same thing.

      Yeah i guess the closest thing to that would be the Holden Commodore VF that GM imported from GM Austrailia AKA Holden. They are a great car and they're pretty damn fast. Same place the Pontiac G8 and the GTO from a few years back came from, they were both Holdens too. But for some reason the SS was a failure and its a great car. We all know what happened to Pontiac. Ford Austrailia still makes the Ford Falcon, thats been theyre hotrod sedan for years. I think 2018 Falcon gt model is supposed to be a 5.0 V8 around 475 hp and 575 fp torque but i doubt we'll ever see it here because it would cut into the Mustang sales. If you've ever watched the Austrailian Super Car series race youve seen both of these cars. Some of my numbers could be off, im no info pro just a car fan lol.

Mine is waaaaay louder though so it's apples to oranges. When I first procharged I had the same thought as you, I think after break in it sounds different because I haven't had no issues whatsoever for the 2 years being supercharged. 660 to the wheels on a D1 is awesome.

    If it's colder outside the metal will contract a bit. Plus the air is denser. Maybe the tolerances inside the procharger change just enough from the contraction and the denser air to change the sound. That impellor is moving pretty fast...air gets denser, it changes the way the impeller reacts to it? IDK man... TBH it sounds like nearly every other procharger I've heard without a helical gear set.

    My procharger made the same noise as yours after 1000 miles. Then the seals leaked at 1500 miles. I rebuilt the blower replacing the seals and the bearings, switched to royal purple oil and now it just has the nice whine/whistle. There is no rock grinding noise anymore and had been running flawless ever since.

    • @DadMods
      @DadMods  6 років тому

      Wow. So you think the bearings are bad?

    • @procharger94
      @procharger94 6 років тому +1

      Hqen2000 I honestly think they might be on their way out. I know a lot of guys might disagree with me on that statement. But when I pulled off the old bearings on the output shaft, I spun them by hand and could hear a difference between the old and the new ones. I know the procharger oil is super thin which has a lot to do with the noise. I know there are prochargers out there with thousands and thousands of miles making that rock grinding noise and still working. I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction, but just wanted to share my experience.

    I had a Vortech Supercharger on my little VW GTI VR6 and it always sounded different, sometimes it would chatter more sometimes less.
    My only issues with it was that it was blowing a seal and oil would slowly leak down my intake messing up my MAF sensor. I had to send it to them about 2 times every year.
    I had a 3 year warranty and just about 3 month before my warranty expired I noticed a different sound and I knew something was up. It wasn't the grinding noise it was reminding me of a SC on a Mustang whine, which never happened before.
    Anyway when I send it in they told me that the hears inside were wearing out due to a missing oil seal, I guess when they rebuild it last time they forgot to put the seal in.
    After replacing all the gears and the seal I never had problems with it. Had it for about 11 years before I sold the car.
    I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you get that 3 year warranty they will replace it. And if something is really wrong with it you will notice it.

      Octavio_P the G6 is ricey if you get the wrong mods. I have an exhaust, new wheels, an air intake, headlights. And since I can’t do much to the 3.5 V6 it has I figured I’d swap it out for an engine that would fit and make more power. G6 now makes about 200hp Swapping a 5.3 into it will make it have about 300hp. And an American V8 is enough to make it not ricey anymore if it even was in the first place.

    Try a smaller pulley for more speed of procharger at idle

    It will sound different when you turn up the boost, but after you get some more motor work done.. I don't know what you got done to it.. Is it cammed up?

      Because prochargers are noisy which is a known fact. Me I would have watched videos of procharger vehicles read up on pros and cons ect ect. But once again everyone has to learn somehow

I'm no expert are anything an not sure if they are made the same, but the ripp supercharger is silent compared to this. But if they say its fine id drive the shit out of it lol
