    I like to think of this as The Downward Spiral but reimagined by Swans and Nick Cave

    Goddam love this album. Like recent Swans, but if they made more demented horror-ish music. The lyrics are incredible, such vivid and poetic storytelling, and the music matches insanely well. And fuck, the vocal delivery. And the flow of the album is great too. Ocean Song is still one of the most effective songs in terms of music matching and enhancing lyrics and story I've ever heard

    MAN this is my favorite album of all time and every time I come back to it I remember why. The shear intensity and horror in it is so amazing! I saw them live in concert and met one of the guitarists Nick. He offered a plate of ham to the people in the lobby we talked a bit about living in New England. Really cool guy!

    The album has grown on me over the years. It conjures physical reaction of fear and anxiety in me. Very solid and can understand why anyone can say it’s a perfect album

    You Won't Get What You Want is the number one party album of the year, can't wait to see it in that's what I call music...
    anyways, this is a very special album, I really feel in emotional and physical DANGER when I listen to this beast and I don't think I've ever felt that way before or since this album dropped.
    Can't wait for LCD and RTJ, might I also recommend JPEGMAFIA's All My Heroes Are Cornballs if you haven't listened yet. It's a very I don't even know how to describe album and its very very good
    keep up the good work!

    Years later this album still crawls into my brain. The bands progression is so different and is what I love about quality music and art. Never hanging onto one style or sound is to me what makes amazing Art. Ocean song and Guest House is what did it for me on this album. Top notch.

    Hey. It’s ok if you don’t see this, but I’d love to know what you think about this album 8 months on. I think this is one of those albums that you can peel back layers from every time you come back. It took me 2 listens to feel emotion from it and it took me 3-4 listens to realise that there was a concept. This album is top 5 maybe top 3 albums of all time for me now, but the sheer extremity of the emotions that I feel from this album make it hard for me to imagine what it sounds like to people who don’t like it, or just think it’s ok. I’d love to hear from you but if not that’s ok too. Have a good day

      I had exact same thoughts about this record. Still one of the albums that didn't lost it's appeal after about two years and it's still in my top played albums. What do you think of their other albums though?

    If you want a great use of the wall of sound, you may want to check out Devin Townsend. If you like spacey ambiant rock, try Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson. If you want something epic and sounds like video game battle music, you can't go wrong with Nightwish's live version of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013. With that song alone, your channel will grow like a California wildfire.

    Oh my word, first time, my dude? This band is a lot to absorb, try the Hell Songs album, it's very manic, and purposely evil or antagonistic in a playful way. Best description is bohemian death core lol

    As a long-time Daughters fan, I have to say this is their worst album. It's basically just a goth-industrial album. It has its spooky moments, but it is kinda dull. Their best album is Hell Songs, but their third album is also a masterful piece of pretty original noisy rock, very groovy! But then again, I got into them because they were an awesome grindcore band, so this album wasn't meant for me tbh. Daughters best tunes are "Cheers, Pricks" and "The Unattractive, Portable Head", from those two albums respectively. Just my two cents. :) Great channel you got going.

    • @R-H-B
      @R-H-B 2 роки тому +8

      I’ve been meaning to listen to the rest of Daughters discography but I can’t understand how YWGWYW is dull. It’s a beautifully designed journey of just watching someone become unhinged and musically it’s wild. How come it’s dull for you?

    • @SuperSandwich713
      @SuperSandwich713 2 роки тому

      This is definitely their most “stagnant” album, and it usually drags on (for better or worse), but I like the overall contour of it quite a bit. Their self titled was similarly predictable though and maybe less adventurous but more danceable

    • @deathkampdrone
      @deathkampdrone 2 роки тому

      @@R-H-B Well, it is merely a personal preference, but I guess it has to do with what attracted me to Daughters in the first place. They were basically a grindcore band, and then they started to really experiment inside that realm. It was almost a different band from record to record; Canada Songs is a little firecracker, Hell Songs is like getting locked up in a mental institution, Selftitled is something totally different, extremely groovy and heavy, but not very grindcore. But YWGWYW, to me at least, is a pretty standard goth/industrial album. Just not as exciting for me personally. It's not obscure enough sounding, I guess. Not saying it's not a pretty good album, it's just their fourth best. But I respect them deeply on an artistic level, for always heading in a new direction.

    • @R-H-B
      @R-H-B 2 роки тому

      @@deathkampdrone I’ve listened to Self Titled and I’m listening to Hell Songs for the time as I write this. I thought Daughters was a great album tbh but it just lacked the intensity and concept that I loved from YWGWYW. So far Hell Songs seems really weird. Even weirder than their other stuff that I’ve heard
      By the way, what do you think about the narrative and concept of YWGWYW? I didn’t catch it until my third or fourth listen but I think it’s a very large part of my enjoyment of the album. If you don’t feel immersed into the story that’s probably a big reason why you don’t care for YWGWYW as much as their other albums

      @@deathkampdrone I’m balls deep into Hell Songs rn and again each to their own but I don’t understand how you can enjoy this to the extent you do. This isn’t awful or even bad, but I’m almost definitely not gonna relisten to this for enjoyment any time soon
