Audi e-Tron GT review

  • After the first two weeks of my eTron GT Vorsprung there are 11 things I like and 5 things I don't - and here they are! Overall it's a great car (should be for the price!!) but getting one is a big decision, so if you're considering it then I hope this review is helpful. The Tesla 3 or S are great, and so is the BMW i4 - but the Audi is smoother and, arguably, looks better. Let me know what you think in the comments!
    And what do I think of it after three months??
    Second review here: • Audi eTron GT 3 month ... .

    Thanks for review. I’ve just received the RS version, and agree with all your points. As you say this is a beautiful and wonderful car. I’m still getting used to its size and power (which is frankly ridiculous but so much fun).

    Hello,
    for the two apps, normaly, you only need the AUDI app because you can ask to the E-TRON GT to be charged for a specific time.
    When it's done, she start the charge at the good time.

    In the MMI settings, you can separately adjust the footwell temperature: MMI > Car > Air Conditioning > Footwell temperature

      I've discovered the problem - heater not working! Apparently it's a common problem. Getting it fixed now.... Annoying on a car this expensive though!

    Nice video, glad you're enjoying the GT Vorsprung. I'm on my second GT here, loved my C&S and now very lucky to have an RS Carbon Vorsprung.
    Regarding ventilation, it's not great but have you also selected the 'Extended Ventilation Zone' on? That kicks out a little more air from the vent on the dash above the MMI. Car>A/C>Extended Ventilation Zone.
    The amnesia of the car of its existing drive select mode when switching on for the next journey is a bit of a pain (as is not being able to set it up using the shortcut button on the steering wheel like I used to be able to on my B9 S4). It has its merits though if you have air suspension as there'd nothing worse than leaving it in efficiency mode (lowest setting) at the end of your previous journey and then driving up/down a steep incline off a drive and scraping the undertray. Not sure if this is Audi's logic but I sort of understand it if it is (although a shortcut button being enabled on the steering wheel would be a nice fix for it)
    Regen wise, it will improve slightly as you put more miles on the car. Allegedly it's to do with bedding in the brakes initially (as the vast majority of your braking will be done with the regen off the electric motors, not the callipers... So you may see them starting to rust up a bit (unless you do a fairly high energy deceleration on occasions). It's still not 'one pedal driving' which as you say even at the highest region setting (and I'd agree) it's preferable as it feels like a 'normal' car. Also depends on if you have it set to manual or automatic in the MMI (and on the settings on your paddle shifters of which I've also noticed that resets when changing drive select modes).
    Charging app wise, not sure what your tariff is but I'd recommend Intelligent Octopus, works fine as the car is compatible with Octopus (so you can just turn your charge point into a 'dumb charger' that is 'plug and play'. You then just set the car to know its 'home' charge point, plug in and Octopus will then charge your car at 7.5p/kW regardless of the time of day if you give it a target time to finish overnight. Top tip, if you get it to finish at the earliest time possible of 4am, and have a large amount of charging needed (say a 20% to 80% charge), more often than not the charging will fall outside of the usual 6 hour window so anything in the household during that period outside of off-peak will be costing you the 7.5p rate if the car is also charging, rather than the 30'ish p/kW peak.
    Hope this helps and if you want an Octopus referral code, free £50 for you (and granted for me) to have 6 hours off-peak at 7.5p/kW and whenever the car is charging outside of these hours it's:

      It’s going great thanks, no regrets 2 months in! Stunning to look at (Suzuka Grey) and lovely to drive. It even smells good inside! Range could be better but that was expected. Tight multi-storey car parks are to be avoided where possible - no scratches yet but I’m sure it’ll happen before long. But overall, love it!
      You’ll probably see it around Bournemouth soon, if you haven’t already 😊

    Very helpful. The size comparison with the 4 series is comical - as you say, the 4 is not exactly a small car 😂
    These are a bargain as a company car - seriously considering it.

    • @theChrisCroft
      @theChrisCroft  8 місяців тому

      I think the Audi is bigger than the 4 though? And has less room inside. But - looks better, in my opinion.

      @PrinceBarin77 8 місяців тому

      @@theChrisCroft indeed, I was just agreeing with the observation. As someone who owned a couple of 4 series coupes, it made me chuckle how much bigger the GT looks in the overhead shot. Have ultimately decided against the Audi GT since the rear bench area is just a little too small for what I need day to day.

    • @theChrisCroft
      @theChrisCroft  8 місяців тому

      well, if you like Regen for the driving feel then you'll be disappointed by the eTron GT. But if you like it for the economy of electricity then the eTron GT is fine - it does regenerate all the momentum energy back into the battery when you press the brakes.

    Lovely car, looks amazing but.....2840 KG its almost 3x more then my van! tyres and breaks are worn much faster and then we inhale it - its much worst then co2! Also heavy cars are destroying the road :-) Will be better with proper engine V6 :-)

    • @theChrisCroft
      @theChrisCroft  9 місяців тому +1

      certainly tyres will wear (and they aren't cheap!). I don't think it' using much brakes, it uses engine breaking to recycle the energy, even when you press the pedal quite hard. I agree about the roads too - it's like a truck!!
