  • Every now and then, a car comes along that just feels like... the one. They say it's rarer with electric cars, but that's nonsense, the Audi E-Tron GT is the proof that electric cars are the way forward when it comes to performance.
The Audi E-Tron GT Quattro is an exceptional car to drive, I fell in love with it almost instantly. Smooth and comfortable on the motorway, aggressive and responsive on country roads.
You absolute should drive it for yourself, and fall in love... just like I did.

Swapping my RS7 for this, and I prefer this to the Porsche, for looks but especially for the interior. Looks and handles way better than a model S.

Great video. It's a stunning car having driven the Vorsprung like the one here. If only the price was a bit more reasonable. Maybe the A6 etron in 2023 (and rumoured A4 etron) will be more within reach for us mortals.

I'm in the market for an electric and tried the Audi GT since I drive an A7 today. I must say it's a beautiful car in RL, but it was a disappointment to drive. It was "dead" like a video game, and the A7 is more comfortable and more quiet (still not a "fun car", but not as boring and I know both of them are made for long hours on the motorway and not for "active driving"). The GT is also a beats in city traffic, where most electric cars excel. It's even worst to park. It did not manage to get my pulse up. Even worst, I was bored. I'll wait for the Kia EV6. How about that jump in prestige? I'll think I keep my A7 and get my wife an EV6

My biggest bugbear with all reviews of electric vehicles is the inability of the authors to show scientific units properly. Kilowatts are denoted as kW, not Kw. Also scientific notation requires a space between the value and the units. e.g. 270 kW

Woah! This is a strange one, and a bit of an identity crisis. Ostensibly, this channel is about clean, affordable, efficient transport as a big part of the solution to the climate crisis issue…but then, a gushing homage to luxury marketing.
Simply put, this Audi isn’t the Bidenesque sounding ‘way forward regarding electric performance’…Tesla is obviously, not only in performance, but in ‘accelerating the world’s adoption of sustainable energy’.
This Audi is a big fat German tailgater, that strains at the concept of fun, and that’s out the price range of most people…no offence to those who buy it - enjoy! It’s not going to get people into electric driving on mass though.
Tesla on the other hand are steadily producing increasingly affordable vehicles, with serious technology built in. The new, eagerly awaited sub £20,000 compact is undergoing testing, and rumours abound of a further vehicle at around £12,000 in the coming years. Opening electric transport to a much wider audience. This is the way to go, and the step by step path that Elon Musk highlighted nine years ago.
If the younger (and future generations) Electroheads appears to be aimed at, want to ensure a liveable future, Tesla are the company with blistering drive to sustainable transport and energy, that have to be seen as instigating the hopeful future. They really are all systems go, with incredible innovation and technology.
And of course, the electric bikes, scooters, public transport (electric hopefully), and shanks’s pony.

I do understand the climate crisis, and consequences however. And can see that too many people have their heads in the sand. Tesla is a major company, and force, screaming along with solutions. Their are many others of course, but not as explosive, and effective.
And there are others, legacy auto, and fossil companies for example, who are intent on keeping the fossil train and profits going…with token gestures.
      Depends what future you want.

    • @Electroheads
      @Electroheads  2 роки тому +1

      Hi C Bromley!
Thanks for your comment - honestly it's really cool that you get what our channel's all about.
My next video (coming out this weekend) is lambasting auto companies for not making affordable electric cars, just to further add to my identity crisis.
Couple of points I just want to make:
      1) I think it's important for there to be excellent and fun electric cars at all price points. Electric cars should be for everyone, and the fact is - the "luxury" market isn't going anywhere.
      2) I have an odd relationship with Tesla. I love the company, I love their cars, but after doing this for 18 months, I'm really put off by their fans. We don't get fans of any other car company lambasting us any time we look at a car that isn't a Tesla. Even Elon is aware that there needs to be competition in the market, and actively encourages and helps other companies at times.
You talk about a liveable future, do you think that can exist with just one electric car company? The demand for electric cars is huge, and Tesla alone cannot meet it.
So... I have a question - what future do you want? Should the other car companies give up because they aren't in the lead?

    • @cbromley562
      @cbromley562 2 роки тому

@@Electroheads Thanks for engaging with the comment.
To cut to the chase, I’m not a Tesla fanboy (despite having a Powerwall and SR+), and I agree that we need all auto manufacturers onboard with the drive to electric transport.
Here’s the rub as I see it however. Tesla are the only company in the auto space that have ‘accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy’ as their driving force. They’re literally kicking the automakers kicking and screaming into doing something, (or look as though they’re doing something), and still undergo a good deal of ridicule and dissemination of misinformation from the reluctant auto and fossil industries. Tesla are also creating an upheaval in the energy sector…in pricing and the way it’s produced and delivered.
What we call legacy auto are still full steam ahead with ICE and hybrid technology. Although VW make a big play of going electric, and despite Ford announcing the all electric Lightening pickup, they are building ICE 150s/Rangers and Amrocks, developing and producing new internal combustion engined vehicles, and are still 97.5% ICE. WTF? Hybrid, ICE and hydrogen fuel cell (steam reforming) maintain the fossil industry with all its emissions and resultant devastation to the environment and wildlife (it’s very rarely reported, but there are leaks and spills on a daily basis).
In light of the 2021 IPCC report, they’re clearly just f*cking about.
The recent pantomime with Biden and the heroic avoidance of the word Tesla, show what’s really going on. GM, Ford, and Stellantis signed a joint letter stating that it is their ‘aspiration’ to become 50% electric by 2030 with a substantial proportion of these electrified vehicles being hybrid and fuel cell. In other words, they confirm that they’re not committed to anything…and Biden refers to them as leaders in electric transport.;) OK, he has an eye on the fact that the Democrats are heavily funded by the unions, but the laughable reality is that the Mach-e is built in Mexico, GM are building a huge plant in Mexico, and Stellantis are largely European. What a load of bollocks.
So, in reality the yardstick/benchmark is Tesla in relation to sustainable transport…and to a great extent, in energy. In light of this, eulogies to the Audi (in this case) run hollow, especially as it does nothing to open EVs to the masses, and it is behind (Tesla) in technology and performance.
I’ve nothing against the GT itself, it’s the hollow bullshit marketing behind these heel dragging automakers that really rankles. Even Jack is gushing over studio marketing deities, dripping in tungsten lighting on Fullycharged. What’s going on? These cars are fantasised objects of desire, economically out of reach of most people. What are these companies going to do when Tesla bring out their sub £20,000 (and eventually sub £12,000) vehicles? What about the increasingly affordable offerings from China?
Before buying the SR+, all my cars were old and well used, from the rust box Fiat 124S in 1973. The reason we lashed out on a new Tesla was the the absolute conviction that through economies of scale, their intent is to produce affordable mass electric transport. No other established auto maker is resolved to this…not even VW. It’s down to the new startups and Chinese.
If you argue that legacy auto can’t move any faster (and have to rely on ICE technology), we’ll, tough shit. They’ll have to do something radical, or leave the stage?
I think you, and other auto reviewers of EVs should be much more critical, and judge new marketing smoke screens within the context of sustainability, quantity of production and conviction.
Mass affordable car/truck ownership is the goal, and scooters, electric bikes and electric public transport, are hopefully going to be a thing of the future.
      The IPCC report explains why.
I like your channel a lot, but it seems to have an identity problem. Fullycharged looks like it’s going through one at the moment. I feel, rightly or wrongly, that the marketing tsunami is drowning clarity of thought. And purpose. The climate thing is serious shit.
