    Artie gets away with so much shit that other civilians just can't. It's because he is Tony's only true friend and like Tony's kids he is one of the few strands of actual humanity in Tony's life......Artie is low key the safest character on the show. Dude can throw food at tony, pull guns on Tony, not pay Tony back..
    ......shouts to being deep and meaningful best friends with the boss lol

    • @Zikk0_o
      @Zikk0_o Рік тому +4

      To be fair it can be argued that he let Artie get away with losing the money because of Gloria's suicide. He used Artie as a way of coping and trying to make up for feeling like he caused her suicide. On top of the guilt of destroying his old restaurant, he does love him like a brother, however Tony's mental state can be complicated when he does something good. It's usually for selfish reasons.

    The scene where Tony beats Zellman's ass it was actually different in the original script but James Gandolfini and Zellman actor actually negate to do the scene so they changed it. If I remember right instead of Tony wheeping with the belt the scene was supposed to be with Tony obligating the Russian goumar to sexually denigrate Zellman. It was extremely graphic so the actors themselves said no.

    People don’t talk enough about how The Sopranos and The Wire influenced each other, especially The Sopranos on The Wire. Both shows are similar in some ways and very different in other ways. I slightly prefer The Sopranos, because of the constantly clever characterization and how rewarding it is on rewatches. But both are one of the few best shows ever.

    Tony whipping the Assemblyman I think is 2 things I believe.
    1. While the goomar is a side piece she was Tony main one. So it was basically a relationship, situation-ship, whatever. That was his girl. You see he came running when she attempted to hurt herself. Blessed her with $80K after the breakup. So I think he was genuinely hurt to see her with someone else who is “better” than him no less. Last time he saw her she was self harming and now she’s better and happy. That was too much for him.
    2. Tony the Boss. And as a result no one under him or associated with him should be messing with a chick that he was that close with. Also, a comment about that (not this exact situation but something like it) will come up in a later season.

    • @Zikk0_o
      @Zikk0_o Рік тому

      Correct, but Tony's still wrong in terms of letting his emotions get in the way of business. The assemblyman is a powerful friend to be had in a mob family and it's best to keep people like him happy so that they can continue doing their business without too much hassle.

    • @Footsoldier1234
      @Footsoldier1234 Рік тому

      @@Zikk0_o It's actually common with Tony. He handles a lot of issues with his emotions and it always gets him in trouble, like with Drinkwater. He never should have been anywhere near that hit.

    • @Zikk0_o
      @Zikk0_o Рік тому +1

      @@tavarisp452 Nah I get what you're saying. It's Tony's mindset that he can't be messed with it. It all unravels throughout the show and he probably also thought he needed to show no weakness in having his side chick with another guy he works with.
      It's like Junior told him before about there being no real right answer to anything when you're the Boss and that all you can do is steer the ship as best you can.
