Holding Shift-Option and then click on the Bluetooth icon will bring up a 'Debug' function. Clicking on 'Reset The Bluetooth Module' and then rebooting the machine solved this issue for me.
A. Damn dude. That is awesome to know! B. Tried connecting via bluetooth for the first time in a couple of months and now my problem is resolved. No idea what changed though. I will try the bluetooth reset next time it happens. Thanks!
I have a 2017 mac pro with the same issue w/ the MX master bluetooth connection. This seems to have worked! Hopefully it holds up. Thank you very much!
This method seems to have worked for me so far and I didn't even restart the Mac. It was working perfectly on my Macbook Pro and my Surface but the iMac had a ton of issues and really slowed down my workflow. That is until I read this comment. So thanks Eoin YOU ROCK....
The reason why it happens is because one doesn't know how to bring their Logitech mouse in the pairing mode.Wait for the light to go to channel 2 or you can do that by pressing the channel button once.Once you have made sure that its blinking at channel 2,hold the channel button for about 5sec then you will see it blinking even faster. The means it's now in pairing mode.Turn off your computer bluetooth and turn it on again.Once the mouse shows just click connect and it will work fine.
You just have to hold down the Bluetooth assignment button on the mouse for a few seconds until it starts blinking very quickly. Then click "connect" on your computer. :)
Awesome!!!!! Tom, thanks for posting the issue here in UA-cam (been trying to resolve this problem for several months now). Dmitry, Thanks sooo much!! for your feedback and link as this method enable me to fix the problem with my mouse. Finally, Eoin, also thank you for that info (it's great to know something new every day, and perhaps something that may aid me in the future for another issue.
Folks, for me, none of the recommended methods worked. Safe Mode, PRAM reset, SMC reset, resetting the BlueTooth module in Debug, deleting Bluetooth preferences and restarting -- none of that worked! But when I rebooted with CMD-R held down and reinstalled High Sierra, my MX Anywhere 2 mouse finally was able to connect! I had suspected that reinstall might work because when I booted of an external SSD with Mojave, my MX Anywhere 2 mouse connected right away. But precisely WHAT in my High Sierra install was blocking the mouse Bluetooth connection is unknown. Hope this helps.
I had this issue on Mac mini - it used to work and now it doesn't connect anymore. I had channel one selected and what I did was chose channel 3 instead and pressed pair (connect) and it worked. It might be just fluke but when one channel gives up I usually try the other ones and it works all the time.
Well, after choosing a channel, you have to long press that button again for 3-4 seconds and a channel light will start to rapidly flash. That is the time to pair. And if it takes longer that it should, try to reset a bluetooth while its pairing by pressing shift+option on a bluetooth symbol ->> Debug ->> Reset bluetooth settings.
Macbooks have an issue with Bluetooth after sleep. It just doesn't work. I have to turn off Bluetooth and, after 1-2 minutes, turn it back. Only then does it start to work and recognize devices. Try to do this first and then pair your mouse.@@Powerstroke98
I resolved it, what I did was. I remove logitech options from my mac. Then connected the mouse with my mac, and then it got in the same state as this video. So what I did then was I installed logitech options again while the mx was still ''connected'' to the mac. And after the installation it worked fine!
Just don't forget to enter pairing mode with MX master by holding on the channel you want (1,2,3) until it blinks faster.. then restart your bluetooth on Mac device before connecting .. it's done!
This is exactly what is happening to my MX Master 2S this morning, and after rebooting my MacBook Pro, it's still the same! Frustrating, as it's doing it on a daily basis recently, where it use to connect so easily before, without any input needed! Will have to contend with looking for the answer!
hold the switching button for Bluetooth 2 sec and you will see the indicator lighting keeping flicker, then connect your device again. This should settled your problem
[SOLVED] at least for my device... I hope this will help others. Recently purchased Logitech M590... Very similar symptom described in the video.... With macOS High Sierra v. 10.13.4 (Retina, Mid 2012)... It was working well for a month or so, then some how after update OS (not completely sure whether this is the reason), the "M585/590" was missing from the previously connected device.... When I try to pair then the connect/disconnect "latch" back and forth happened... since then it could not worked... Tried to connect using the Bluetooth.. number 1 and 2... both failed... Still work with Unifying USB... After reading several comments in this video... it gave me and idea, tried and solved the problem.... Here is the SOLUTION: 1. Turn off Wifi 2. "Open bluetooth preferences" 3. Long Press the Selector Button for 1 (to initiate pairing)... keep pressing until the light blink rapily 4. Click "Connect" button (wait for a while) 5. Try to move the mouse around, to check whether its working or not... 6. Turn on Wifi I've been trying to do "Debug" function prior to that SOLUTION... (Restart Bluetooth, Remove all device)... So if those steps fail, please try to debug first... Please comment/reply if this help you.... Thank You
I tried all of the suggestions in the comments and none worked except for OSX reinstall. Did a safe reboot and it works like a charm. Awesome mouse, it's a game changer for me.
Had the exact same problem with latest High Sierra and M590 on late2017 Macbook Pro with touch-bar. Tried everything (debug->reset module, delete BT prefs from system etc) and the only way I made it work again was to reinstall OSx from recovery mode (Reboot -> Cmd+R). Nothing was lost; Paired again and it worked. Had to go through reinstalling all OSx updates though.
[SOLVED] Here is the SOLUTION: 1. 6. Turn on Wifi I own the mx master 2s for a few weeks now working fine with macbook pro retina from 2012 (only BT, no dongle) and today, after my wifi router reseted, i got exact this issue shown in the video. Following the steps above solved it for me ! Though I don't know what the wifi gots to do with the bluetooth preferences.
got the mx anywhere 2s and it says it's connected but is still loading and then disconnects. I've tried all 3 channels and it doesn't work. I've got a 2017 MacBook Pro so using the dongle is quite a hassle as the MB ports are all usb-c there is like no blogs that have any help. anyone have any ideas?
I'm having the same problem. an M720 that was connected over bluetooth to two different macs for over a year suddenly lost the ability to connect to JUST ONE of the macs, both macbook pro 2018 models with touch bar. One still connects no problem, the other refuses. It'll say connected at times, or quickly switch between connected and not connected, but the mouse is no longer usable with my main machine, yet it works no problem with the other. I've tried the 3 bluetooth debug options.
@@lionofjudah321, Liu Jialiang, Hanshin Lee Hey guys, was having the EXACT same symptoms as you and I had tried every suggestion that was out there! To fix it I reinstalled the operating system and now everything is back to normal as if nothing had happened. I have a MacBook Pro 2018 w/ High Sierra and MX Anywhere 2s. I used this site to learn the reinstallation process: www.easeus.com/mac-file-recovery/update-to-macos-sierra.html
I still can't get it to work still. I had to use the universal receiver. I've done everything that the comments have mentioned except restore the OS. Anyone know what the issue may be. It says connected to the device, but nothing moves with the mouse.
NOTHING helped! Except for overinstalling OSX from recovery mode! Took 40min but MX paired then flawlessly. Yay! Thanks to the fellas in the comments who led to this solution! It‘s crazy since it was a freshly installed virgin osx in the first place. Who knows what was crooked there..
Hello, I have exactly the same problem with a MX master 2 and a mac mini M1, in my case the mouse never connected by bluetooth, and I don't know what I have to do, because I love this mouse, and was working well in a 2015 macbook pro with Catalina OS
I'm having the same issues. did all the steps but nothing seems to work. I am using the M720 and have the same issues. I can pair it with other devices and other MacBooks, just not with the 2017 pro touch bar model.
i have gone through all the comments and tried everything everyone has said and i still cant connect my mouse to my mac. channel 2 connects with another mac but 1 and 3 wont work pair with anything does anyone have a fix for this?
In ma case this wasn't issue with bt but with new software for master mx2 - logi option+ As soon as downloaded the mouse becomes stuck on screen because of bt connection issue - uninstalled option+ and all back to normal
Just bought an MX Master 3 and the issue still persists. Failing to pair or sometimes pairing but showing "not connected' with the light under the mouse still flashing fast in discoverable mode.
only thing that worked for me was uninstalling the app with "App Cleaner" from the Mac App Store. It removes the preferences.plist files and all the other junk that may get left behind on your computer after unistalling. Or you could just locate the prefs file by hitting command shift while inside a finder window and then typing /library/preferences/ and it should be in there under the file name com.logi-options.plist. but delete everything that has anything to do with logic tech. Unistall the program and restart, then reinstall the latest version, and it will take you to add devices. it should connect right away then
Initially i had the same problem... but got it connected on channel 3. By just pressing a channel (slow flash) it will pick up the device only - to connect you need to long press until the light flashes quickly.
This has resolved my issue. I had the same issue shown in the video with the mouse not being able to remain connected, but on changing to channel 3 as you suggested, it's getting connected now! Thanks!
Hi there, good review. I've heard people's experience saying this mouse has issues with new Mac operating systems. I'm using MacBook Pro 2012 with Mac OS Sierra 10.12.4 and people have had issues using this on Sierra. I need a mouse for comfort and horizontal scrolling like the MX master one has on the side. Any advice on this matter. Or anyone else who could help much appreciated. If i use the USB receiver instead of Bluetooth connection will it work fine?
Hey!I have found a solution!Very easy! Step 1: disconnect the mouse. Step 2: lift the mouse from your desk. Step 3: throw as far as you can. Step 4: write to support to rename Logitech to Logicrash. Seriously the worst moude I ever had because of their development failures. It is crashing my 3d apps. 1 month I am working on this issue,no luck yet.
I have the exact same issue. It's definitely the mouse, as I had the same issue with my 2015 15" MBP and now I have a 2016 MBP, and my Magic Mouse 2 works perfectly fine.
I just returned my MX Master and picked up an M720 Triathlon. I will report back to let you know how it is... It seems to work smoothly as is, but as soon as I pair my Jaybird X2 with my Mac (having my Magic Keyboard, Logitech Mouse, and Jaybird X2 headphones) it seems to jitter a bit.
Love to read about it. I'm back to my Magic Mouse after I smacked the MX Master on the ground. Really frustrating, reached my limit. It did connect, but very random it just didn't respond for 2-3 minutes. Checked everything. Think it's the bluetooth connectivity of Apple.
It is the implementation of the bluetooth stack since MacOS 10.12.2. It is only in part the mouse because before that update it was working fine. Apple has no reason to fix it in regard to logitech, however to make their Magic mouse work is a given. Still not working with 10.12.6 I'm hoping that High Sierra may help.
After I did one of the update for Sierra OS, I had the same issue with my MX Anywhere 2S mouse . I tried all of the suggestions below but none worked. Since, I didn't want to use the dongle so I tried my mouse with another MBP but with Mojave OS and worked fine. I updated my OS to Mojave 10.14.5 and, my mouse is working again.
I have recently tried to upgrade the Bluetooth in my Mac Pro from 2012. I managed to install a new card with both new wifi and Bluetooth. Unfortunately the very thin cable from then Bluetooth-antenna is broken, it broke when I tried to connect in with the cable on the mother board. But Bluetooth is working anyway, I guess. I have it in the menu bar, but I can’t pair my Logitech-mouse. Nothing happens. Maybe it’s not real connected anyway, the new card. I have a headset with no thread, it can be used with Bluetooth but that can’t be paired either. The version of the new Bluetooth is 4.0, which is rather old today when 5.0 is out.
Yeah so after trying out all solutions, apparently the only thing you need to do is press and hold the connect button on the back of the mouse until it flashes rapidly. The flashing has two states: 1. When you press it once it just switches from one device to another (flashing slowly). The mouse will show up in your Mac's bluetooth list but you won't be able to connect to it. 2. When you press and hold it for a few seconds, it gets into pairing mode. This is when it will show up in your Mac's bluetooth list and by clicking Connect it will work.
I'm experiencing connectivity issues as well. I connect via Bluetooth direct (No USB Dongle). I can connect OK and it works fine, but if the computer sets unused for a long enough while, the mouse disconnects, and then won't reconnect. Pressing the Connect button doesn't re-connect it. The Number 1 just starts flashing, as if I was trying to connect it to a new computer. I keep having to turn on my Apple Mouse, open the Bluetooth System Preferences, and then re-connect the MX Master. Over and over and over. Very annoying!
What you have to do is set the channel to 3, then I think hold down on the change channel button. This will hopefully get 3 to blink rapidly. Then it will be set for pairing.
Here is something regarding how do you pairing MX Anywhere 2S, very similar model than yours. To connect your mouse to your computer press the Easy-Switch™ button for 3 seconds. When it blinks fast it means it's in discoverable mode.
holy !! i had tried everything. OS re-install, bluetooth debug and removed all devices, reset settings.. NOTHING WORKED>... Tried this and worked for me. THANK YOU !
nice, that's what i was looking for. new mac user trying to connect his MX Anywhere 2S to OS Mojave. Worked like a charm. Don't even have the Logitech software or drivers installed on the Mac.
I am facing same problem with my Logitech M590. It was working quite well via bluetooth with my iMac i7 late 2012 model, but when I tried to connect it with my new iMac 2019 model it failed. And now it's not working on both iMacs. Only able to Connect via Unifying mode.
I have a Mac and Windows system but use the Mac mostly and was confused it wasnt seeing the Mx 3s even in bluetooth setting. I turned on the Windows laptop that has the dongle and it too couldnt find the mouse so i started to worry it was the miuse with a problem. As per one suggestion here, i went into the Actufity. monitor amd force quite every Bluetooth session under "CPU" then went to bluetooth and in seconds it found the mouse. I will figure the windows problem later
GUYS, To this solution I ad that if you disconnect all devices and reset the bluetooth system; if you press and hold the button that is in the mouse ( that button that change the devises that are parried with the mouse) it will change the cadence of the parry light and then it will apear in the bluetooth connection in your MAC. sry im not a native person.
Have the same problem with my MX master and my Mac is also a 2012 MBP, my solution is: 1. restart, this works in most of time, but I don't want to restart the Mac every morning! 2. every time when connect, open the Bluetooth Preference on the Mac, and move the mouse quickly. Usually, it works, but cannot guarantee. I can't find an official solution for that, the connection problem is really sucks
I was able to resolve the rapid connect/disconnect issue by using Logitech Options to "Add Devices" connect dongle "Add Unifying device" proceed to add the device as a Unifying device "Add Devices" "Add Bluetooth device" switch mouse to channel 2 complete the Bluetooth pairing process remove dongle After going through all of that, the mouse now stays connected. HOWEVER, the mouse does not appear as being connected in Options, and thus it's options (e.g. assigning buttons to functions) can not be set. *UPDATE - One more reboot seems to have fixed this. I can now use Options to configure my mouse. Everything now appears to be working as expected.
I have the same issue, however, mine doesn't even show up under the Bluetooth menu. I'm using it on my iMac with the USB dongle, but when I attempt to use it on my MBP with the dongle, it doesn't work...and the issue with Bluetooth connectivity is also present with the MBP. I've tried all of the tips listed on several sites and nothing.
Steve sorry to hear that. At least I can use the Unity USB dongle. I'm sure you've done this but I would completely remove all Logitech software including all the bits and pieces in the Library, etc (the important part) and do a reinstall and reset up the mouse as well. If that didn't work I would try it from a different user on the Mac and reinstall there. Shouldn't matter but at least you rule out an issue with your OS user account.
Peter Boldsen Madsen I realized that the Bluetooth function only works on Macs that are Smart Bluetooth enabled i.e. 2012 or later. Unfortunately mine is a 2011 version.
Ah. That makes sense. I have a 2012 and didn't have many issues with Bluetooth until this last year and now I can't keep it connected. It used to be that it would drop from time to time but now it won't even connect.
@peter - I'm still looking for a solution and suspect maybe mine could be hardware related OR maybe interference? My MBP is a 2012 model and have heard of people having BT problems.
This is not a permanent fix but it worked for me on a 2013 MacBook Pro: Shut down your Mac and press the Turn on button and Shift key at the same time. Hold the shift key until the Login screen appears. You are now in Safe mode. Connect the mouse there without a problem, reboot and its going to stay connected... for a while at least.
I Have same problem with M590, and solution is Uninstall Logitech Option is working for me. And to setting the button funtion i use the Steermouse Software and it working same Logitech option. Hope this is okay foe long time.
Nope. Nothing helped me. Dmitry commented below what worked for him that's worth trying but didn't solve my problem. I've given up and using the usb dongle unify thing.
Hey guys, I had the same problem and I just found out that actually the Logitech software causes some interference with the mouse bluetooth I have no idea why. I uninstalled it and it started working normally. Hope this works for you!
Hit Command+Spacebar to bring up the Spotlight search field. Type in “Activity Monitor”, run it, go to the 'cpu' tab, in there find 'bluetooth' and kille it using the 'quit process', launch bluetooth settings again and you can reconnect, but it is very annoying as I keep doing that :(
None of my devices can see the MX Key Plus keyboard over bluetooth. Not my Windows laptop, iMac (El Capitan) or my Macbook Air (Catalina). The only way i can connect any of these (one at a time) is by using the unifying receiver... which is not the point i need to connect all three devices at the same time. I tried doing Eoin Healy fix (pinned above) "Holding Shift-Option and then click on the Bluetooth icon will bring up a 'Debug' function. Clicking on 'Reset The Bluetooth Module' " but keyboard still not visible on any device. Giving up and returning keyboard :(
Finally sussed this out. Two of my computers (iMac and Windows laptop) do not support 'Bluetooth low energy'. Third one did and connected fine eventually by bluetooth. Solution: buy an additional unifying receiver (actually i bought a Logitech MX Anywhere mouse which came with its own receiver). So bluetooth for one computer and a unifying receiver in each of the other two. key board and mouse all connected to all three computers.
I’m on OS 10.9.5. My only issue with the mouse is when I boot up my Mac, the MX doesn’t work until I physically move the mouse. At that point the LEDs on the left side lights up and mouse/pointer are working perfectly. I’ve contacted Logitech Tech Support but they offer no fix. I’m sure all it needs is a firmware update.
Same happens here with the Bluetooth connection. Sometimes it connects quick and other times I have to move it around a bunch, or start to move my trackpad mouse (mainly to see where the mouse pointer is) and eventually it connects.
Its very often almost always with logitech devices. I had the same experience with logitech anywhere mx 2, and not only with mac pro, also with mac mini. I have 3 anywhere mx 2, one of them is fine, always. The other have often these problems like in the video. thats really weird.
According Logitec you have 2x options: 1) Uninstall the Logitec Options Software (this seems to be messing things up) - but then you will have limited functionality 2) Use the unified receiver - but then you have to use a dongle on your shiny new MacBook Pro USB-C It definitely seems to be the Logitec software that is messing about with the Bluetooth - so hopefully they are updating soon.
Thanks Mike. I pretty much gave up with mixed results and sticking with the unified receiver at this point. I have a USB hub that I'm using with my MBP so I can easily plug in old style USB devices and have the dongle plugged in here which seems to work.
Yeah, hold the shift-option button while clicking the bluetooth icon but only on Tuesday in December just before the ups man drops off your package he just busted in his busted up brown truck, right? Then, when it doesn't connect again, delete a certain file and hold your hand on your ass while bending over, realizing you just spent more money for this POS than an original Apple mouse which you really don't need because the track pad works better than any mouse anyway! Wonder if I got that right? Well, maybe for this week. How 'bout next week?
I have the same issue, and it only happens if I use an earphone plus the MX with bluetooth. If MX is the only bluetooth device connected it will work just fine. But if I connect an earphone (doesn't matter which one, I've tried with a LOT of combinations), the MX stops working with the same behavior you described. This started to happen after I done a macOS update to 10.12.5, but I don't know if it's related. Resetting bluetooth module also doesn't fix the problem. I even cleaned up my macOS entirely (started from scratch, reinstalled every single application, etc.) and the moment I configure the Logitech Options the issue comes to drive me crazy. I'm exhausted. And I have those new MacBooks for people that lives in a future where everything is USB-C. My Flux Capacitor is on it's way. Until there, I think I'll need to use the trackpad.
Though to say actually. So I was using the dongle thing for so long that I haven't tried BT in maybe 6 months. Then a commentor below suggested making sure... "I downloaded the Logitech software and tried setting it up.After few attempts it connected fine.Trick:the channel has to be '2' as 1 is for the dongle." Mine was already set up that way but I resintalled the latest logitech software and the BT seems to be working. It is sometimes still wonky though.
I found a solution that I can verify worked for me yesterday on my 2012 MBP, without use of the Logitech software. I had suddenly suffered this very issue and resorted to the USB dongles. Not at all sure why it started, but my Master MX and my Logitech H800 BT headset stopped communicating via BT. I tried resetting the NVRAM and the debugging menu items, among other things I read on the Internets. None of it worked. Solution: Delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist. This file is found at HD/Library/Preferences. Turn off Bluetooth on your Mac. This is done by clicking the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar and selecting ‘Turn Bluetooth Off’. Unplug input-based USB devices (e.g. any USB mice, keyboards, Wacom tablets, etc). Shut down computer. Do *not* restart, but do a full shut down. Turn off your Bluetooth devices. Boot computer. Turn Bluetooth on. Begin pairing devices. This involves clicking: Bluetooth icon in menu bar >> Set up Bluetooth Device >> Select Bluetooth device >> Follow on-screen instructions. In the case of your keyboard, I would suggest pressing the ‘Enter/Return’ button several times after entering the passphrase shown on your screen. Had the same problem - high Sierra and both mx master 2s and mx anywhere 2s. I tried everything (reset pram, smc, bluetooth module etc). In the end I needed to reinstall osx from recovery mode - didn't lose any apps or anything but took an hour.... good luck all
I tried "Reset Bluetooth Module" (Shift+Option Keys / Bluetooth) and still facing the same issue. After a while I Click and Hold the Bluetooth button (1,2,3) on the mouse and tried connecting again and finally issue resolved.
@@retsardp2714 Wow thank you so much i had problems with my mouse just now and the pressing 3 seconds works!!!! i have mx master 3 hehe!! thanks for your help!
This problem still happens, and I can't decide if it's the mouse or the Mac at fault. My BeatsX headphones pair with the Mac no problem. I'm currently on 10.12.5 Sierra.
Wendell Yamada Yeah. Same here. I think this is a hardware problem with 2012 macs (at least). Ice always had odd BT stuff happen but then again this is he only device now I struggle with. Just go with he USB dongle thing.
Wendell Yamada Damn that sucks. There goes my theory about older macs. Can you return the mouse? Sucks too about how new MBP has just that one USB type 3 port. Doesn't make it easy to use the USB device Logitech gives you.
New theory: can't connect both my headphones and mouse at the same time. Switching my BeatsX headphones to my iPhone and using iTunes on there seems to have stopped the mouse from periodically disconnecting. Will have to test this more, on a day when I'm not actually trying to get work done.
I'll give that a try as well to see what other bluetooth devices I have there. My problem now is that I can't get it to connect at all. It used to just disconnect on my from time to time and now it just tries to connect over and over in a loop.
I was having this problem but fixed it. Now it works fine but I find its jitters sometimes on the screen. Almost like a bad bluetooth connection. Anyone had this problem?
None of those worked for me but what did is resetting the SMC: After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds. - The mouse continues to act up once a week and then I just reset it again.
Recently bought an MX Master 2S mouse and same thing's happening with my mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13". It was working till last night when I turned off my computer and doesn't work this evening all of a sudden. Bizarre. Will have to use the usb unifier :/
Yeah. I'm pretty sure my issue is with these late model MBP's. Some issue with bluetooth. Have you tried Elon Healy's suggestion in the comment below about using Hold Shift-Option....
It didn't work, the only thing worked was after doing that Hold Shift+Option then follow the instructions here: christopher-parsons.com/solved-bluetooth-devices-not-connecting-to-osx/ then shut down the computer. but once the connection was lost due to switching off the mouse / mac going to sleep the problems resurfaces. I'm using the usb key now.
Yep for the first whole month had almost identical issues. Bare in mind I'm Windows 10 Pro. So you being Sierrra that shouldn't be it. I have read that using your wifi/ /having it on while using (most typically trying to pair) will eat at the bandwidth causing lag, and everything, to disconnection and not pairing. I believe it has something relating to the bluetooth protocol/chipboard you have installed, a dualband one ..sort of thing. I am not an expert and truthfully never got mine to work either ....I was just like fk it , have had this for a month and have spent more countless , 4AM nights digging into an endless rabiithole. 30days were up and I hit that return label request button on Amazon for full return and refund. whew. Yea and I wasn't about to go (my many hours researching everything "logitech" i would know) through an apparent customer service with comparable behavior equivalent to ...hmm a Central AMerican Mangrove Slothe ...and yes I have been watching "Planet Earth" so I am allowed to use you that reference.
Maybe this will solve the issue for you guys. What I did on my Mac was search for all the Logitech Options prefs in all my libraries and deleted them. Once that was completed I then restarted my Mac and it works. However, if you require all the other features for the mouse then you will have to wait until they figure whats wrong with the Options software. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much!!! Been trying everything, searching all over, and your comment was the answer! Forgot you could have these sorts of problems with third party products, very frustrating as the mouse is $120 CAD and has issues right out of the box!
just realized I now have this same problem with a 2018 mini. with the software I do not get an option to pair the mouse, it just opens up the devices with nothing to select. trash
I downloaded the Logitech software and tried setting it up.After few attempts it connected fine.Trick:the channel has to be '2' as 1 is for the dongle.
Mine was already set that way. However today the BT seems to be working. Hopefully it sticks. Haven't tried the BT in a few months and there has been a few Logitech updates since then.
I had the same issue, trying to pair it for the first time. Paired it on channel 2 an voila! It paired immediately. Thanks for the comment about it working in channel 2. You're a Life saver!
I had the same problem. I deleted the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file by using terminal with administrative privileges, then I removed all bluetooth devices (Hold shift-option on bluetooth icon on the taskbar, go to debug menu, click remove all devices), then I reboot my PC and finally I managed to connect my MX Master again.
That didn't work for me back when I was running into the issue originally. Now a new computer and 10.13... new logitech software and it works although it does act squirrelly from time to time.
same problem here and my mx master have sleeping mode issue. when i tried not using it for fewr seconds the mouse stops working and it tske soncds to reconnect it
Yeah. I gave up on the bluetooth and use the Unifying Receiver USB thing it came with which works just fine. I just don't like using up another USB port when it's suppose to work with Bluetooth.
I have tried all methods but nothing worked out but I installed logitech options and long pressed the channel button which it is not paired then voila it worked.
My brand new MX Master 2S connected via bluetooth works great with my 2017 TouchBar 15" running Sierra ... just so long as I don't try to use my Bose QC35's at the same time. Reseting/deleting prefs fixes it for about 5 minutes. As long as the QC35s are connected It'll keep loosing the connection with the mouse. As soon as I disconnected the headphones the mouse immediately started working again. The whole point of dropping $100 on a new mouse was because I didn't want to have to work out the USB-C dongle cluster - so I went the bluetooth route. So sad. Kinda a waste.
I hear ya Paul. Fortunately mine started working once I picked up a new MBP Touch Bar. I know I did reinstall their software along the way. Although I'm not using any other BT devices now so maybe something to do with that but yeah... you would think they would have this worked out with multiple BT devices connected.
It's been easy to replicate by turning the Bose QC35 on and off via bluetooth. Works fine as long as the headphones aren't being used at the same time. I sent a trouble ticket into Logitech ... we'll see how long it takes to get a response. It's obviously not a unique case scenario based on all the chatter online about it.
Guys nothing worked for me.. what really worked is going to the logitech page Search for your mouse or keyboard model click on your model then go to support on the rigth says ⬇️downloads then download the sofware ( download the software not the PDF) when u download the software... Add unifying device connect the usb receiver and fallow the istructions. hope it helps ..👍
I have the same issue as well. but i did some research and its works. i used MacOS sierra on my MBP. follow this step if works on yours? this is a bit of time to work out. 1st - Reset your system management controller (SMC) follow this link it depends on yours if its laptop or Desktop? here's the link how to reset. i did 1x reset SMC. others tell 3x. support.apple.com/en-au/HT201295 2nd - Holding Shift-Option and then click on the Bluetooth icon will bring up a 'Debug' function. Clicking on 'Reset The Bluetooth Module' . i also removed all existing bluetooth connected on my device in bluetooth Preferences. then restart and open again. its okay to connect all your used mouse and keyboard if you used desktop. mine is MBP with trackpad so theres no problem. 3rd - Turn off and On your Logitect MX Master then press and hold the channel 1.2 or 3 until MX master show up in the devices depends which one you want to pair on your computer. i did this as well in my iMac desktop for me to take and control multi-device and its all works. just follow the step Logitech Options to fair Laptop and Desktop flow. hoping it work on yours too! Thanks
This is the message I got when I restarted my machine after struggling for over a week with this and this resolved my issue. Hopefully, that helps. Bluetooth mouse or keyboard not recognized after reboot on MacOS (FileVault) If your Bluetooth mouse or keyboard does not reconnect after a reboot at the login screen and only reconnects after the login, this might be related to FileVault encryption. When FileVault is enabled, Bluetooth mice and keyboards will only re-connect after login. Potential solutions: If your Logitech device came with a USB receiver, using it will solve the issue. Use your MacBook keyboard and trackpad to login. Use a USB keyboard or mouse to login.
1. open bluetooth devices from your mac and delete the saved mx master profile. 2. Turn off and turn on the bluetooth devive on your mac to ensure a clean wipe. 3. Flip the mouse over and click the connect button at the center. 4. Ope bluetooth devices again and click pair on the mx master devices. Should connect without an issue.
- Install Logitech Option - Connect MX Master S2 Via Unifying receiver - Then, Connect MX Master S2 Via Bluetooth - After paired, remove Unifying receiver - MX Master S2 is work well via Bluetooth connection
Alex_Chan 203 I have yet to find a solution that worked for me.had to resort to using the USB transmitter thing for now. Dimitris commwnt below has helped others but didn't work for me. Worth a try though.
Try to reset the PRAM/NVRAM and SMC. This worked for me after trying all the good solutions from the comments! Thanks guys/girls. No need for Logitech Softwares for me. So maybe try a reset. I did both resets. First I tried the NVRAM - still same issue. After the SMC reset - worked! How to reset: www.google.de/amp/s/macpaw.com/amp/how-to/reset-pram-and-smc-on-your-mac
In Mx master we can connect to 3 devices. So, before you connect your mouse to ur device click the button in the bottom and it shout blink continuously. Now goto ur device and switch on the bluetooth then connect to the mouse. In this way u won't face any problem connecting to ur mouse.
What a total disappointment, all the reviewers pass this off as the best productivity mouse but it doesn't even work correctly on bluetooth, I shoulda kept the magic mouse 1 I had. So sad.
Thanks!
No worries - glad it helped and if it's one thing I've learned from owning Apple devices/macs, things just need a reset every now and then.
So thanks Eoin YOU ROCK....
tried your solution, even removed all BT devices. but the MX master is still unable to connect :(
The reason why it happens is because one doesn't know how to bring their Logitech mouse in the pairing mode.Wait for the light to go to channel 2 or you can do that by pressing the channel button once.Once you have made sure that its blinking at channel 2,hold the channel button for about 5sec then you will see it blinking even faster. The means it's now in pairing mode.Turn off your computer bluetooth and turn it on again.Once the mouse shows just click connect and it will work fine.
But when the mouse is in pairing mode, it can’t be used. The marker is frozen. How can I turn on and turn of Bluetooth then?
This worked me for a problem with M590. Thanks!
thanks mate
It works, thanks bro !
Wow, thanks for this...no one else mentioned pressing the channel button until it starts blinking...as that paired mine right away. Thanks!
You just have to hold down the Bluetooth assignment button on the mouse for a few seconds until it starts blinking very quickly. Then click "connect" on your computer. :)
Worked for me. Thanks Jodi!
genius, thanks a lot!
Thank you 😁
Awesome genius, Thank you so much
Thanks
Wow that worked! Thank you, I have spent way too much time on this! Appreciate your help!
Worked for me. Thanks Vlad!
Ok, tried this to no avail either...hmmm
Macbooks have an issue with Bluetooth after sleep. It just doesn't work. I have to turn off Bluetooth and, after 1-2 minutes, turn it back. Only then does it start to work and recognize devices. Try to do this first and then pair your mouse.@@Powerstroke98
I resolved it, what I did was. I remove logitech options from my mac. Then connected the mouse with my mac, and then it got in the same state as this video. So what I did then was I installed logitech options again while the mx was still ''connected'' to the mac. And after the installation it worked fine!
I'll give it a try!
I have the s2 though but same problem
It worked!!!! Thank you!!
Just don't forget to enter pairing mode with MX master by holding on the channel you want (1,2,3) until it blinks faster.. then restart your bluetooth on Mac device before connecting .. it's done!
This is the answer! Thanks akram hosni!
You save my life sir! Thanks a lot!!!
You save my life sir! Thanks a lot!!! (2)
Thanks a lot you saved the day! :)
You saved my life too!Quick and simple, thanks so much
This is exactly what is happening to my MX Master 2S this morning, and after rebooting my MacBook Pro, it's still the same!
This solutions was the right one for me
After trying everything above, this worked for me.
Thank you. It worked for me.
Worked for me too. Had the exact same issue as described in the video. Debugged, but problem still remained. But now this fixed the problem. Thanks!
Thank you!
Here is the SOLUTION:
1. Turn off Wifi
2. "Open bluetooth preferences"
3. Long Press the Selector Button for 1 (to initiate pairing)... keep pressing until the light blink rapily
4. Click "Connect" button (wait for a while)
5. Try to move the mouse around, to check whether its working or not...
6. Turn on Wifi
I've been trying to do "Debug" function prior to that SOLUTION... (Restart Bluetooth, Remove all device)...
So if those steps fail, please try to debug first...
Please comment/reply if this help you.... Thank You
Thank you !
It works to me thanks!

I own the mx master 2s for a few weeks now working fine with macbook pro retina from 2012 (only BT, no dongle) and today, after my wifi router reseted, i got exact this issue shown in the video. Following the steps above solved it for me ! Though I don't know what the wifi gots to do with the bluetooth preferences.
got the mx anywhere 2s and it says it's connected but is still loading and then disconnects. I've tried all 3 channels and it doesn't work. I've got a 2017 MacBook Pro so using the dongle is quite a hassle as the MB ports are all usb-c
there is like no blogs that have any help. anyone have any ideas?
I have the same issue, but it used to work perfectly
I'm having the same problem. an M720 that was connected over bluetooth to two different macs for over a year suddenly lost the ability to connect to JUST ONE of the macs, both macbook pro 2018 models with touch bar. One still connects no problem, the other refuses. It'll say connected at times, or quickly switch between connected and not connected, but the mouse is no longer usable with my main machine, yet it works no problem with the other.
I've tried the 3 bluetooth debug options.

Hey guys, was having the EXACT same symptoms as you and I had tried every suggestion that was out there!
It says connected to the device, but nothing moves with the mouse.
same here, nothing worked. OS High Sierra
@@pawelfiedorczuk same 4 me, OS Sierra
@@pipuzz upgraded os and now working ...
I can pair it with other devices and other MacBooks, just not with the 2017 pro touch bar model.
any solutions after a year? 😅
i have gone through all the comments and tried everything everyone has said and i still cant connect my mouse to my mac. channel 2 connects with another mac but 1 and 3 wont work pair with anything does anyone have a fix for this?
Hi, I have the same issue. 1 and 2 are fine, but 3 doesn't want to be found.
Félix I ended up updating my Mac and it’s working fine! Make sure you do a system update this should work for you bro
In ma case this wasn't issue with bt but with new software for master mx2 - logi option+
As soon as downloaded the mouse becomes stuck on screen because of bt connection issue - uninstalled option+ and all back to normal
Logitech Pebble doesn't work on my MacBook Pro 2017
Just bought an MX Master 3 and the issue still persists. Failing to pair or sometimes pairing but showing "not connected' with the light under the mouse still flashing fast in discoverable mode.
My solution: set mouse to 2 screen and it works now :)
this worked!!! thanks!
thanks! its really worked, love it !
Yes, that worked! Thank you
Hey mann.. can u show me how to set mouse to 2 screen.. im a new mbp user thanks
only thing that worked for me was uninstalling the app with "App Cleaner" from the Mac App Store.
Thanks!
So are you using a different mouse to connect the MX Master? Since it's not connecting..
No I stuck with using the USB dongle thing that came with the mouse.
That's what worked for me. I just switched over to the little USB thing that came with it and it works fine.
I thought you were going to show the solution lol
Hey!I have found a solution!Very easy!
Step 1: disconnect the mouse.
Step 2: lift the mouse from your desk.
Step 3: throw as far as you can.
Step 4: write to support to rename Logitech to Logicrash.
Seriously the worst moude I ever had because of their development failures. It is crashing my 3d apps. 1 month I am working on this issue,no luck yet.
Hahahaha
I have the exact same issue. It's definitely the mouse, as I had the same issue with my 2015 15" MBP and now I have a 2016 MBP, and my Magic Mouse 2 works perfectly fine.
Andrew Duong yeah. It's frustrating. I thought for sure that this would be a Mac issue vs Logitech because it use to work fine a yes or so ago.
I just applied an OS update and my mouse is working again. Thanks for the idea. 🍻
The flashing has two states:
Sometimes the simplest things.....
I seem to remember hearing something about problems with bluetooth I believe on MacBooks with older models. I'm running a 2012 MBP.
OMG that fucking worked!!! Thanks
holy !! i had tried everything. OS re-install, bluetooth debug and removed all devices, reset settings.. NOTHING WORKED>... Tried this and worked for me. THANK YOU !
Thank you so much! IT WORKED
nice, that's what i was looking for. new mac user trying to connect his MX Anywhere 2S to OS Mojave. Worked like a charm. Don't even have the Logitech software or drivers installed on the Mac.
sweeeet! it finnaly works! Thanks for the tip man
I am facing same problem with my Logitech M590. It was working quite well via bluetooth with my iMac i7 late 2012 model, but when I tried to connect it with my new iMac 2019 model it failed. And now it's not working on both iMacs. Only able to Connect via Unifying mode.
@김디니kimdini Same here connected to a 2022 Macbook pro and try to connect it back to my 2013 Macbook pro and it dont work all of a sudden
I had the same problem! I turnt the mouse channel to 2 and it started working again!
Thank you! I tried everything in the comments and this was the only thing that worked!
same problems with MXergo on my mac 13, did you fix it?
Same model and problem 😔
Have the same problem with my MX master and my Mac is also a 2012 MBP, my solution is:
1. restart, this works in most of time, but I don't want to restart the Mac every morning!
2. every time when connect, open the Bluetooth Preference on the Mac, and move the mouse quickly. Usually, it works, but cannot guarantee.
I can't find an official solution for that, the connection problem is really sucks
Dayum.. I tried so many methods, can't believe that the quickly moving mouse solution worked!!!! Thank you so much!
i have windows 10 i removed the device because the mouse wasn't moving now it's not even popping up on blue tooth please help
fixed it!
I was able to resolve the rapid connect/disconnect issue by using Logitech Options to
"Add Devices"
connect dongle
"Add Unifying device"
proceed to add the device as a Unifying device
"Add Devices"
"Add Bluetooth device"
switch mouse to channel 2
complete the Bluetooth pairing process
remove dongle
After going through all of that, the mouse now stays connected.
I'm having the exact same problem!
Have you found this solution? I'm having the same problem with my MacBook Pro Retina late 2012 running macOS Sierra 10.12.3. so annoying :(
According Logitec you have 2x options:
1) Uninstall the Logitec Options Software (this seems to be messing things up) - but then you will have limited functionality
2) Use the unified receiver - but then you have to use a dongle on your shiny new MacBook Pro USB-C
It definitely seems to be the Logitec software that is messing about with the Bluetooth - so hopefully they are updating soon.
Thanks Mike. I pretty much gave up with mixed results and sticking with the unified receiver at this point. I have a USB hub that I'm using with my MBP so I can easily plug in old style USB devices and have the dongle plugged in here which seems to work.
1) Does not work 2) Have no bundle for USB
Different for me. I only had the mouse connected. Have you tried what Eoin below suggested?
Yes, but no success. Right now I'm using a dummy solution, which is using the headphone via jack input.
Yeah. I'm sticking with the USB dongle/stick thing that came with the mouse. Unify... whatever they call it. Works best for me.
I have the same exact annoying problem. Was there ever any firm solution to this?
Though to say actually. So I was using the dongle thing for so long that I haven't tried BT in maybe 6 months. Then a commentor below suggested making sure...
"I downloaded the Logitech software and tried setting it up.After few attempts it connected fine.Trick:the channel has to be '2' as 1 is for the dongle."
Mine was already set up that way but I resintalled the latest logitech software and the BT seems to be working.
Solution:
Delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.

Same problem with my Windows 10, it recognize the bluetooth when pressing 3 seconds on the mx master 2s, but when paired it says, try to pair again.
Update, the one I got has a defect. Was able to return it and they replaced a new one. It works perfectly now. It conects my Bluetooth right away
Tom Nash yeah I give up. This is a brand new 15" MBP w/ touch bar too. Sad.
None of those worked for me but what did is resetting the SMC:
After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds. - The mouse continues to act up once a week and then I just reset it again.
It worked. Thnx..!!
Glad it helped! It was driving me nuts as well. Hopefully Logitech updates there software soon.
If possible share how to do it. The description of the procedure to search in all libraries. Thanks
worked
Glad it helped Matthew Piccolo.
i have exactly the same issue on my 2013 mbp retina and still struggling to find the solution
Were you ever able to resolve this issue? Mine just started acting up this morning and I've tried all the above suggestions to no avail
just realized I now have this same problem with a 2018 mini. with the software I do not get an option to pair the mouse, it just opens up the devices with nothing to select.
trash
how to custom colour in logi option?
I downloaded the Logitech software and tried setting it up.After few attempts it connected fine.Trick:the channel has to be '2' as 1 is for the dongle.
Anik D ill give that a shot. Thanks!
OK this worked for me, use the charging cable to plug it into the computer, connect via bluetooth on channel 2, then disconnect the cable. Bingo!
I had the same problem. I deleted the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file by using terminal with administrative privileges, then I removed all bluetooth devices (Hold shift-option on bluetooth icon on the taskbar, go to debug menu, click remove all devices), then I reboot my PC and finally I managed to connect my MX Master again.
seckin ozden I’ll give that a try! Thanks
A simple shutdown and restart fixed it. Running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.3. Also, restarting in safe mode worked.
That didn't work for me back when I was running into the issue originally. Now a new computer and 10.13... new logitech software and it works although it does act squirrelly from time to time.
I have bluetooth problems with MX keys for Mac, for the price, I think it just unacceptable
same problem here
and my mx master have sleeping mode issue. when i tried not using it for fewr seconds the mouse stops working and it tske soncds to reconnect it
Yeah. I gave up on the bluetooth and use the Unifying Receiver USB thing it came with which works just fine. I just don't like using up another USB port when it's suppose to work with Bluetooth.
hey bro i tried updating just now .. maybe you can try i think it's fixed .. used bluethooth , macbookpro 2017, sierra 10.12.3 here
Thanks. Tried that but I actually think it's a problem with my older MBP 2012. I'll give it another go though.
Guve it a try bro i just tried it now
I have tried all methods but nothing worked out but I installed logitech options and long pressed the channel button which it is not paired then voila it worked.
Yeah, I have this problem, MacBook Pro 15" 2018, seemed to work on my 13" MacBook Pro?
Guys nothing worked for me..
what really worked is going to the logitech page
Search for your mouse or keyboard model click on your model then go to support on the rigth says ⬇️downloads then download the sofware ( download the software not the PDF)
when u download the software...
Add unifying device
connect the usb receiver and fallow the istructions.
hope it helps ..👍
I am having the exact same problem.
tried all the solutions and still not pairing wtf??
I have the same issue as well. but i did some research and its works. i used MacOS sierra on my MBP. follow this step if works on yours? this is a bit of time to work out.
1st - Reset your system management controller (SMC) follow this link it depends on yours if its laptop or Desktop? here's the link how to reset. i did 1x reset SMC. others tell 3x. support.apple.com/en-au/HT201295
2nd - Holding Shift-Option and then click on the Bluetooth icon will bring up a 'Debug' function.
Thanks
Thanks for that. I'll give this a try when I get a moment.
This is the message I got when I restarted my machine after struggling for over a week with this and this resolved my issue. Hopefully, that helps.
Bluetooth mouse or keyboard not recognized after reboot on MacOS (FileVault)
If your Bluetooth mouse or keyboard does not reconnect after a reboot at the login screen and only reconnects after the login, this might be related to FileVault encryption.
When FileVault is enabled, Bluetooth mice and keyboards will only re-connect after login.
Potential solutions:
If your Logitech device came with a USB receiver, using it will solve the issue.
Use your MacBook keyboard and trackpad to login.
Use a USB keyboard or mouse to login.
Thank you!
The same here for me. I switched to usb dongle
1. open bluetooth devices from your mac and delete the saved mx master profile.
2. Turn off and turn on the bluetooth devive on your mac to ensure a clean wipe.
3. Flip the mouse over and click the connect button at the center.
4. Ope bluetooth devices again and click pair on the mx master devices.
Should connect without an issue.
ive tried everything and nothing has worked even talked to logitech support and they can't help me
I have the same issue on Logitech M585.
Just use the selector on the very bottom of the mouse and select a different device, then connect
That wasn't the problem. Problem solved after buying a new mac and then a logitech update that eventually came out. Thanks though.
- Install Logitech Option
- Connect MX Master S2 Via Unifying receiver
- Then, Connect MX Master S2 Via Bluetooth
- After paired, remove Unifying receiver
- MX Master S2 is work well via Bluetooth connection
Remove the Unifying Dongle from macbook first then press the connect button on the back of the mouse this is how it worked for me
Mike Rundle thanks Mike. I’ll try that again. It’s been awhile since I gave BT a shot.
have we found a solution yet :C??
Alex_Chan 203 I have yet to find a solution that worked for me.had to resort to using the USB transmitter thing for now. Dimitris commwnt below has helped others but didn't work for me. Worth a try though.
What works for me is just reseting both bluetooth channels.
How to reset:
www.google.de/amp/s/macpaw.com/amp/how-to/reset-pram-and-smc-on-your-mac
Upgrading to Mojave solved my connection problem
it finally worked for me when I press and hold the button on my mouse
what button?....
So sad.
