If *I* had an 11-48, I just know I would get the firing pin in first try every time. However, I don't have one, so everybody will just have to imagine my dexterity and skill.
Another very educational video. I've been a teacher for 31 years, and some of your phrases and explanations sound like me trying to explain things to young college students. ~~ I first started to love and shoot shotguns in the early 1980s. For a long time I really didn't like the prehistoric look of the Auto 5's receiver, but something just clicked and changed in me a few years ago. Suddenly the Auto 5 was just beautiful; it was a work of art. I still love the elegance and smoothness of Remingtons as well despite their being made in more cost-saving ways. As a middle schooler in the 1980s, I sincerely thought if a man could own a glossy, sleek Remington 1100 he was surely a man of wealth and esteem! My family couldn't afford such a shotgun back then, so the 1100 seemed quite exotic.
not sure how these videos dont have more views with how simultaneously beloved the auto 5 is and how hard it is to find information out there on it and its variants. I say something something fortnite to boost your analytics.
Yeah, I don't get most of the complaints about it. It does sometimes catch the sun in an awful way and the edge of the receiver will glare out the sighting plane, but it's a really particular angle and wearing a hat with a brim solves it.
Please, do cover one of those Turkish bullpup shitters at some point lol. Aksa makes a dual mode (pump/semi hybrid) shotgun and it’s amusing to think of you reviewing it.
I literally bought an 11-48 at a local gun shop on a discount "gunsmith special" rack for $100 on Saturday! It's got the barrel lug broken off of the sheet metal sleeve inside the forend and split wood as a result and a split at the wrist. It's totally functional and should clean up very nicely once the stock issues are squared away. SCORE!
@@SwampyMusic Ain't it? Replacement 12ga forends are unobtanium at the moment and it's gonna be a b!tch to fix the forend. That thing is absolutely mangled. My theory is somebody took it apart for cleaning, lost the friction piece (it's missing), then put it back together and shot it until it broke then stuck it in a closet for decades until his wife or kids sold it to the gun shop where I found it.
@@krockpotbroccoli65 You may be able to find a larger and thicccccer forend from another shotgun and trim the inside to fit the innards from the 11-48. Then shape the outside to resemble the 11-48? Be a neat project. Then the shotgun will be absolutely yours at the end. No way you could part with it.
@@jdoerr779Great points. I may well try to adapt an 1100 forend if I can't make this mangled old thing work. I could always just inlet and epoxy the mag cap detent lug into the front. However I have a plan that involves copious amounts of acraglas paste epoxy, brass pins and 3 6-32 machine screws that will hopefully secure everything. That front forend area shouldn't be taking too much of a beating if all the recoil parts are present and functioning properly.
I have a vent rib that shoots left (but roughly 50/50), what can I do to correct my POI? it has a mid bead but it's silver and hard to see against the white bead
@@Falconguygaming if you've verified that it isn't just your sight picture (IE needing to hold your head differently/the gun not fitting you) and have patterned at 40 yards to confirm it definitely is hitting left, you can start by trying to paint the bead. Also measure to make sure the bead is actually centered. As a last resort, you can try removing the mid bead, filing on the right side of the mid bead, etc.
How dare you insult the greatest thing to ever exist, that I love with all of my being. A blight upon your house. Hopefully the world sees your comments and shames you appropriately.

Every time you bring up the humpback receiver as a negative it baffles me. I have always loved the look of them.

Mr Ivan I love these shotgun videos. I will be purchasing old shotguns now
I suggest purchasing models that you would deem repairable if something went wrong or one with parts available.

I would love to see the metals tested for hardness and checked with dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection.
Keep up the work on this self-loading series, really enjoyable !
A series about the bankruptcies of various gun companies would be neat
I feel that's more c&rsenal content. But yes, it would be.
Sir, you are an impeccable designer by far! Happy2025🎉.
I love those 1 - 1/8 ounce snap caps 🎉
Interesting to see the design elements still in place on Remingtons more recent shotgun offerings.
I've used one model 48, but it was tired as you say. Got my first 1100, and fell in love.
I have one in 20 gauge with a ventilated rib and poly-choke. Year of manufacture is 1950. It's in very good condition.

Yay, i was waiting for this one.
Very nice and well done!
This is the first gun I ever bought. I think it’s pretty neat

The receiver also leads to the 740/7400/etc rifles.
True - though they were decidedly less popular/influential than Remington's shotguns.
Have you looked at the PY2A Mossberg 500?
I think i have an unhealthy relationship with how much i enjoy long recoil. Do i need help?
Awesome
Mr Prints Guns, I want a 930/940 episode now!!! Show me the JM model! Angry emoji
Bad gun (gas operated)
Nice

Whoot whoot
3d squirted Remington Model 11-48 when??
I got a 16g one of these a while ago because of your long recoil propaganda.
Grrr, these videos are so uninteresting, I hope my comment does NOT boost you in the algorithm and recommend it to more people!
@Heinrich_Hyper14 witty retort that totally owns you! Surely the algorithm will not push the need for internet drama!

I'm really enjoying this shotgun series. Only thing better would be fudd lore spoken over a cb radio.(Perfect ASMR)
And one of those "old-timey" car horns from way back... Aaaah-woooooo-gaaaah
