So glad I found your channel! We just picked up a 65 GTO. Found it sitting in the woods for over 30 years. We are going to build it for my dad who sold his 64 and 65 almost 50 years ago to support his family. We are on a budget so we will be doing a lot of the work ourselves! I will be using your videos as a guide
This series, up til this point, has been utterly fantastic!! I’ve got a 64 rustbuc… err, Tempest that needs everything you’ve done- these video have been a Godsend! Hope to see more GOAT action soon :)
Hands down some of the best time-lapse or music over work there is…I’m mildly surprised for how rusty some parts were (Swiss cheese) there seems to be a lot of solid orig metal!!
OK I am playing catch up on the GTO project. This car is more then a rust bucket. I am amazed that you have undertaken such a difficult project. The panel install is great but it's areas like the window channel repair that I really enjoy. Your a true craftsman and that is reflected in what you have accomplished. Great videos and insight to how these cars where assembled at the factory.
I just discovered your channel and after binge watching, I'm completely invested in this build! I have a 67 Cutlass that I plan to clone into a 442 and the video of the floor pan install was exactly what I needed! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Looking forward to more vids on the GTO.
Your past the monotony part! Where you think will it ever get done! You now are near the finish of the body!! It’s coming along brilliant bud!!! Looking forward to the next one!!!
I can't wait for some more GTO videos, I have a 64 and doing almost the same repairs to mine. Also, it would be great if you had a GTO image on your t-shirts, maybe sometime in the future!!! Keep up all the great work on getting those cars back on the road.
This is my first GTO video, I love the 68 Charger. But you sure did a nice job, cutting and cleaning and fitting those fenderwells in. That trunk pan came out excellent as well, I guess I`m hooked I will watch both builds for now on. Joe from Michigan, love those mountains.
I have a 65 GTO Tri-power car that I am about to start the same exact process on and possibly more! I really enjoy watching this, it keeps me motivated on mine! Please keep these videos coming on this car so we can keep following along!! Thank you for sharing! I am going to try to post my videos on my channel as well!!
@@rustbucketrestos6511 you already know lol. I did all the work on my Judge a few years ago. It turned out great, apparently I got bored enough with nothing to do now to take on the 65. She's a project to say the least.
I should be working now but I just have to watch this. Been watching every episode since you bought the charger. Even though I am no a muscle car guy, you are still a great inspiration to keep going on my projects and putting in more time. It's also great how you involve your kids, I wish mine were more interested in what I do in the garage.
Great job becareful with soda blasting a buddy had it done an the panels were warped when it came back not bad enough to replace but made lots of extra work
Hello, love your video's on the 65 GTO. Just purchased a 65 Olds 442 another A-Body. I am needing full trunk pan also as the differential tunnel is rusted thru where it meets the aft floor pan and I am running into the same issue. Some suppliers says for a 66-67 442 and others say 64-67 and can see the back part by the tail panel difference. Also the ones listed for 64-67 are out of stock so it looks like I will be going with the one advertised for the 66-67 from Original Parts Group.
great work! I'm curious if there's any more videos coming? I'd like to see how those 66 A pillars worked out for you, I got a 65 tempest I'm getting ready to start on. I enjoyed watching these videos they definitely give a lot of good insight and fore thought before starting to make sparks.
I like following your work. Didn't you say in an earlier vid that you were going to tub the rear wells for some bigger tires? Now would have been the time to do it! FWIW, I have raced a 65 Olds 442 (same wheel well sizes) on and off for over 50 years. A 9" wide by 30" tall slick will fit under there without rubbing anywhere. That will be plenty of tire, NHRA legal stock class cars have that size limitation and the higher classes are running in the 9's. Once that POR cures, you will not be able to overcoat it and have it stay. The trick is to overcoat the POR before it cures and the two layers will bond to each other. The Krylon semi-gloss black is an almost perfect match to what the General used on these cars originally. Gloss black was not used anywhere in the places where you have painted it so far. Keep up the good work!
Wow. Now I don't know if I like the obvious take on LaGrange, or LaGrange itself! WHERE do you guys find all this WONDERFUL Music? Nice job on the Goat by the way, I watch you take your cars further than just about everyone I know or knew that actually had the means to do that kind of thing, let alone DIY. I did know a guy back in the day who was the type to chain 454's into Vegas. Some were really sick cars, other? Not so much (love to tell you about a Vega Delivery he literally twisted like a Washrag...was his first 454 car if memory serves), but that one guy was probably the only DIY-er in town...waiting for the Charger though...love watching all you guys bring them 'ol Chryslers back to life...
Your attention to detail is fantastic...some of the best work i have seen. Are there additional videos on the GTO or does it stop on episode 8 Keep up the great work.
R u going to do a video on the GTO and the Charger when u complete them looking forward to seeing them and the Cuda I love ur channel u do awesome work 👍
Would really dig on seeing you acid dip a project car before teardown in the future. Most videos are just blink and its dipped blink and its painted and I like that your videos are detailed and slower so you can use them as a how to. It would be a cool experience to watch you go through that step by step. Maybe after 10k subs and you start getting ads?
Awesome buddy top notch work I have seen high end restoration shops turn out allot worse than your DIY restoration, be really proud of what you are achieving with basic tooling. Ps how are you going to sort out inner arch to rear wheel arch as the new inner arch lip profile seems to be off. Maybe just the way the camera picks it up any how keep up the video buddy loving them..

Yes! I will be getting back to the gto very soon.
If you paint the trunk Ace hardware sells krylon stone texture obsidian. It matches the inside of the quarters very well
My plan is to POR15 the rest of the trunk & floor. Dash will be painted to match the rest of the car.

Have you had any left over parts that would help me on my 65 Skylark. They are essentially the same parts.
Hi you purchased body panels made from AMD do you buy directly from AMD
I get about 95% of my sheet metal direct from AMD. By far the best out there!
Do you have a list somewhere of the tools you're using?
I do not… but I talk a lot about my tools I use in my Q&A videos.
So I am replace the back half of the 65 GTO and was wondering should I just cut the whole back half off and replace or do quarters and sail panels first then trunk filler?
I’d do it in pieces. Quarters and deck filler can be done at the same time. Tie it together with a new tail pane & it’ll all be all new! 👌
Ok, i haven't had any luck with finding a pair of door hinge pillars
They don’t make them for a 65. 66-67 are identical for the lower section, but the a-pillar post is at a different angle. It’s not a direct plug and play swap, but it can be modified to fit.
Rust Bucket Resto’s awesome thank you Ima go order me some
AMD sells them & they are excellent!
Dumb question here. What if all this work and the body does not sit square on the frame? Just asking.
