Looks great, seems like a strong build quality but where I think all aftermarket roof racks fall short is the seals for mounting solutions where the OEM has a 3 proof seal from leaking. This setup is pooling all the water in the factory location not to mention your exposing the rubber seals on the nuts to the elements, until I see these issues addressed to be waterproof set and forget its a pass for now.
Do you have a video explaining the differences between the usage of your Modular’s rack and this low profile rack. Thank you and I’m sure this has been answered before.
Would love to see a rubber standoff solution for the roof mounting points somewhat akin to the Sherpa racks. Otherwise this is a really clean looking install!
About the pull the trigger on one of your lift kits and leaning towards this rack for my wife’s new rig. Two questions, will the sunroof still be able to tilt up? Secondly, can a crossbar be removed to allow for open air over the sunroof? Thanks!
Will this work with an iKamper RTT? Or would I need the taller version? Also given that the RTT takes up all of the up top real estate of the rack, what would be options for side mounting a couple other accessories? Thank you!
Many different options but IKamper will work on both the low profile and the modular rack. If you are running the ladder then you will need to push the camper forward so clear the ladder when hatch is open.
Is there a reason people do not install the two long side rails to the roof first then install all of the cross bars? I always see people build the entire rack on the ground first and then bolt the assembled rack to the roof.
You’ve got 9 chances of scratching the roof when you installing cross bars. Assemble the whole rack on the ground give you visual clue if something not align correctly and remedy the problem where you can reach it. Some 4x4 are very tall and difficult to assemble piece parts on vehicle smooth top
More then the roof on the 4Runner! But the roof starts to change shape at the mounting points at about 700lbs. We are going to do a failure test on the roof rack and should be around 1700-1800 lbs.
@@agentwolffe We will send you some. I’m going to change our web site so people that are ordering our rack for their pro model 4Runners there will be a drop down. This will fix the problem. We will get it out Tuesday for you👍 Happy Holidays to you and your family
The stand off brackets seem too short. Moisture from rain, carwash, etc will accumulate and cause paint damage at the small gaps on two side rails and vehicle body
No rusting issue. The roof rack is aluminum. You mean the discoloring of the stainless bolts? That’s the black oxide coating that changes color. The nice thing is we are one of those companies that cares about our customers so we just send them new ones😉
It’s $899.00 and with shipping $1099. not sure where you got $1500?? And hey, our racks aren’t for everyone. westcottdesigns.net/product/toyota-4runner-5th-gen-lo-pro-roof-rack/

Yea, poor looking design for the mounting into the roof, is a pass for me too.

Are there recommended torque values for any of the fasteners?
Awesome !! I want one for my truck 😢
So when I'm mounting stuff to the crossbars do I have to unscrew each crossbar to slide in the bracket or bolts?

It will allow for tilt and full function. Some people do remove the cross bar for full visibility when looking out through the sun roof
@@westcottdesigns awesome, thanks so much!

@@westcottdesigns Thank you! I live in Mesa and will hopefully be contacting you soon!
Any issues with leakage? Using the silicone gets me nervous. I live in rainy Seattle and the 4runner is left outside all day.
If they are sealed correctly and there will be no problem at all.
Do you guys have any suggestions for kayak carriers? Ones that work with rack obviously.
Any info about highspeed wind noise?
Should I put some anti-seize on the crossbar/side panel bolts since it will be exposed
You don’t need to. We have not had any problem with them over the last couple of years.
What cleaner spray did you apply and silicone you used ?
I like to use simple green. For silicone I like to use RTV Permatex in a black or clear
I live in Florida would running the red one be better for the heat ?

can i still open my sunroof with this low profile roof rack?
Yes because the sun roof goes in the roof not on top of the roof.
what i meant was, would the cross bars not interfere when i open the sunroof?
What is the weight capacity for this low profile roof rack?

Are you going to make a 3/4 roof rack?
If I had the TRD Pro Rack what hardware do I use to secure the rack to the vehicle?
We use the OEM standard roof rack bolts with the factory rubber washers
@@westcottdesigns do I need to buy that from Toyota then? Is there a reason you guys don’t provide them?

Yes👍
Bad ass roof rack!!

$1,500 rack and you still have to silicone. Huge pass
