Terrific install video. I just bought the rack used from another 4runner owner, and he backed the pieces up nicely and this video took me across the finish line with it. I'll be online for mounting accessories soon enough. Thanks for putting this out there with easy access!
Is there a follow up video showing how you ran the lightbar wiring?
‘This is significantly easier to do if you can use both of your thumbs’ lol
thumbs up to that!
What are the torque specs on each bolt or at least th bolts that hold it down to the 4runner?
Can you also install kayak racks over that
Can the crossbars be moved back for sunroof access?
22 thousand lumen on that light bar. Love mine! The rubber feet on my rack sit on the paint not on the weather stripping though.
I ran into the exact same problem. It destroyed my paint.
What light bar is that?
What if your trying to install this all alone? Can I assemble this on the roof? DAMN YOU QUARANTINE!!!!!
Yes, that is possible. It takes a little more figuring though.
Why do you guys not use black hardware?
That was my question as well when I received my rack yesterday :/ also my front little rubber gaskets are very slanted after I tightened everything up and barely touching the roof
@@007slavka same! Also getting a lot of turbulence at 45mph+. You experiencing noise??
@@Tencentsboys I ended up putting the rubber rain gutter I cut back under the gaskets and it is pretty good now. I experience wind noise around 55mph and gets pretty loud at 80.
I didn’t see that you put the front channels back in. Is it okay?
Will the mounts fit just about any light bar as long as it’s 40 inches?
Did you have this type a roof rack for 2012 honda pilot?
Not at this time.
Y'all used to have a Tundra roof rack install video but it's been taken down. Anyway y'all could reload that?
Can I fit that on my 1998 4runner? Do I maybe need to get universal brackets if that's available?
does that edge trim come with the roofrack? how long after order is placed does it take to receive roofrack?
Any issue with rust ?
What is the name of that transparent tape that is used?
3M clear protective film
We paid someone to put this on for us and are getting the most ridiculous noise coming from it as soon as we went over 45mph. Its unbearable. Trying to figure out what the issue is but we can't seem to find it. Any ideas?
It's most likely that the front fairing is not pressed down tight to the roof. You should be able to loosen the front fairing mounting bolts, push it down to the roof and tighten them back up. If not, the rack mounting bolts may need to be loosened to lower the front of the rack.
Do you have a rack that fits a 1998 4runner?
I got the rack , but mine bracket for the front by the wind fairly is different , doesn’t sit in the grooves . Sits on top of the roof it’s self . Is that right ?
That would be our old style bracket, please contact our customer service team at info@victory4x4.com and we can get it figured out.
you should hire yourself out to do other vendors videos....great presenter.
Can y’all do this on a 4th gen ?
I didn't see where you put the stock roof channel back in. Do you cut the front one to go around the front mount?
You can trim around the mounts which takes more time, or you can just trim it up too and between the mounts and leave the mount portion open.
Exactly what kind/name of the 3M tape are you using? Having trouble finding it
3M Paint Protection Film
Is the removal of the roof trim 100 percent needed? I got my 5th gen roof rack from you guys a few weeks ago and am goinf to install it this weekend. Not super thrilled to rip off trim
Yes you need to remove the trim for the install. You can however cut it to fit around the mounts and put it back in.
@@Victory4x4 ok, thank you for the response. When it comes to waterproofing and putting the silicone down, do you put it directly over the hole so when you insert the bolt it gets into the thread in the mounting location,? And does that negatively affect putting thr stock rails back?
@@justinbailey6079 you can put it around the holes, but you would also want some silicone under the bolt head so it seals that location as well. If you have any questions on specifics, our tech support team can always help at info@victory4x4.com. We aren't always the quickest to respond to youtube comments.
Can you give the exact name of the silicone used, please.
Permatex Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV
Do the lightbar mounts come with the rack if you choose the lightbar cutout option?
Yes, they do!
Victory 4x4 awesome, placed my order yesterday, can’t wait!
@@startthemachin3 Thanks for the order!
WOW This is Scary - I really do not want to be a "Karen" , However, there are two things in your video that made me cringe. #1: You did not clean the valley out before applying silicone. I do a lot of marine and auto work with different resins including epoxy's, standard glass resins, silicones, etc. Cleaning is ESSENTIAL to ensure a proper bond/seal (this is basic 101 on any seal that needs to be water tight) #2 Why in the name of pete are you using a drivetrain / high heat type gasket maker. I love this stuff but would never use it on the roof of a vehicle . It is going to be horrible to try to get off later if needed and it is not UV stable. For those of us in Florida or any southern state, this will begin to crack and potentially leak in about 3-5 years due to UV break down. I would use 3M 4000 or similiar HD sealer with UV protection for the roof on my vehicle.
The sealer is under the brackets and bolt heads, so UV stability isn't really an issue, also drivetrain gasket maker is readily available in many people's toolboxes and more than adequate for this application. Any other sealer above this would certainly be fine.
Great advice! I bought the recommended Ultra Black RTV, and it is an oil resistant gasket maker not really made for this use. Be nice if they could include a note that the Ultra Black will work, but that the 3M 4000 would be a better choice
Will this rack work with a sunroof?
It will!
@@Victory4x4 can you address noise at high speeds? The front air deflector starts vibrating pretty bad. I’ve adjusted all the way down and it still does it
@@Tencentsboys The front fairing rubber needs to contact the roof, please contact our customer service team and we can help with your install. info@victory4x4.com
@@Victory4x4 just did. Your tech support explained a quick and easy fix and now it’s good to go! Thanks!!
