I e never owned a new car in my life. I always buy pre-owned. The amount of caution you took to avoid scratches is awesome 👍. That is the behavior that will make it possible for me to find a decent vehicle that's 10 years old lol 🤔🇺🇲
I do auto body and collision repair for a living, and a good trim removal tool set will save you a whole lot of headaches for interior, and exterior trim. 👍🇺🇲
Do you still have the Gobi rack on your 4runner. If you do, after a year; wondering what the noise and wind factor is like at highway speeds with cargo and an empty rack.
Old post but for what it’s worth I had the Gobi (multi light, stealth) on my 4Runner. I took it off and installed the Sherpa. I’m putting the Gobi back on… the wind noise on the Gobi was better. Sherpa is loud. Neither is the most quiet but I didn’t get a howling on the Gobi. It’s tolerable.
This is arguably one of the best install videos I think I've seen. Still considering similar roof rack but remain undecided. Did you consider other brands (e.g., Westcott, Prinsu, etc)? Why did you go with the "riser" on the front end of the rack, and can you elaborate on any wind noise/mileage/power surprises as a result? Thanks!
I have a Platinum Silver Toyota 4Runner Limited Edition like yours. Will you please tell me what model rack and latter you got. I really like the way that one looks. Great video. 👍
Very good install. I am waiting for a transfer kit from gobi to install mine. I too would not use silicone. I used butyl rubber on my trail rack when I added that a few years ago. Zero issues. How has it been? Obviously I would think wind noise, how bad is it?
Awesome and informative install! Is there a way you can measure dimensions for the wind deflector? Once I get mine I am looking to get it wrapped. Thank you!
No issues yet! But I will say this year has been unseasonably dry. Last year we doubled our yearly rainfall. So take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. Certainly the silicone can’t hurt.
The feet of a roof rack are the most critical component. You really need at least 4 per side to handle dynamic loads. Downward force is a minor issue when compared to the side forces generated when a vehicle sways from side to side on a trail or lousy road. Always add at least one extra set of feet regardless of the brand. Those forces need to be spread out.
I am looking at Gobi for my 2022 4 Runner. There are some confusion options. The crossbars. Either stealth or elevated. But there are 2cmeasurements. I am seeing 60 or 80 inch. Anyone ?
This video is DANGEROUS haha I have a base model 4runner sr5 with ZERO mods. But after watching this video I feel like a Pandora's Box has been opened!!
Thanks for the video! It was very helpful. One plus for me, there is not one square inch of my 4runner that will ever seize up again! I am sure that stuff moves on its own!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!
I put my GOBI on today!!!
Could not have done it without you!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m so glad my video helped. Did you use silicone or no?

I like the look of that rack. How's the noise level when driving?
Definitely noticeable but we got used to it quickly and don’t notice anymore.
Best looking roof rack I've seen to-date. Did the company say when adding a camper tent top if it was strong enough to handle it ?
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Silicone update? Ordered my rack yesterday!
What a nice explanation. I loved the intro as well lol. Do you have any final feedback about the rack itself and noise?
Solid video in all aspects!
great video. can't wait to install mine on my 2019 4runner trd. thx for video. you got my thumb 👍 up.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. Good luck!
Yup, subscribed

How is the No silicon work thus far? Putting my roof tomorrow and love your feedback

Awesome intro… well done, very creative! 🙌😆
Thank you! Cheers!
How does the front brackets mount to the car? Is there holes under the trim up front?
it rests on the trim. no mounting holes.
Are able to open your sunroof?
I have to sunroof version and yes I can open the sunroof with and without the sunroof piece installed.
How is the front bracket installed?
Drill new holes?
It just rests on the car. No need to drill. It’s very stable.
Man, I know a car workshop will charge me 600$ for installation. Beautifully done.
$600 buys a lot of tools...
What's the cost and where did you get it from?
Mine rusted within 3 months of installing.. Canadian winter in Toronto
How do you align the front brackets, did you make any holes ?
Lifting the whole thing into the roof by yourself is ballsy
How is the no silicone holding up?
so far no issues but it hasn't been very long
@@BreakItYourself Still no leaks?
@@1992garyd still going strong with no leaks. But southeast Louisiana has had way less rain than usual this year.
Good video
