those number I believe are not dates of the casting but engineering codes for when first designed, the smaller casting numbers on the block right near the ones you describe might just be the actual date it was cast.
No, yours was a casting designed in 84 and probably made in 93 or 94. The big casting numbers remained the same until they changed to a different casting, then the numbers change. Some castings were used for several years in a row.
@@abigasswave3000 we were told there is casting numbers on the block under the exhaust manifolds which we have not confirmed yet. We will have another small Ford engine coming into the shop soon we will be checking that one (rather than pulling the manifolds off the car we have).

I don’t know much about aftermarket blocks, except that the stock decoding method won’t work:) Dart suggests finding the serial number and calling them. They should then be able to tell you more about what you’ve got, when it was made, etc. Here’s a link: m.ua-cam.com/video/rvpbjv6MytE/v-deo.html Hope that helps!
A refers to the Fairlane. Although, don't get too caught up on that code. What it refers to is what the Engineers (E) designed the part for, not what car it is supposed to be in.
@@jaustill237 It's in a 65 Galaxie 500.... the car originally had a 240 six with a split shift 3 speed overdrive. It's got a 64 Thunderbolt High Riser in it now.... with top loader 4 speed and 3.50 posi rear end.
What you should really care about is the build date, thich was the shorter code just above the block model # that he glossed over.

And where do I find the real number and what does the 8C7 say?
Looked like a build date on the block of 8G7, or June 7th 1968.
So I have a hesitation when in low speed. New plugs new hei distributor wires carb plugs . Don't know what's going on with it. Any idea 💡
THANKS !!!
Is that the front of the block or the rear? Passenger or driver? I can’t get the angle to look at it. Ps is there another place on the block?
Cool thanks
Wow my 351W was casted in 84, but it came out of a 94 truck. So it sat on a shelf for 10yrs.
I'm not surprised. The factory I work in is the same.

What is a D90E block? Can't quite make out the rest.
Where were the casting code on the bottom the block after you removed the oil pan?
You don't have to remove the oil pan. It hides behind the starter. Passenger side, rear of motor near the bell housing.
I have the 4.0 and 351w
Is there casting numbers on the block that specify 302 from 289? (In 1968)
Great question wondering the same thing were you able to find the answer? Would love a response if you have the time thankyou
Did you find an answer?
@@UnArmedFilms4U yes actually if it's a 302 factory the block usually states 302
@@abigasswave3000 Where exactly? Sorry, totally new to the stangs.

what would Eaoe be

What does the 8C7 say?
It would be March 7th, 1968, which is the build date. Though I thought it was a G.
It's funny that he didn't mention that, since the build date is far more important than the design code.
I have the one with the black paint....
Black paint for 1965 model year engine. Shouldn't be a 302, though. Those didn't start until late 67. Maybe a 289 (like my engine).
@@jaustill237I was just being a smart ass.... actually, my black engine is a 65. 427....
