Hello Mark.Really nice Unboxing and What....A ....Great....Kit. Congratulations on the purchase.. It is always great to build a kit .I wish you a lot of fun while building.
Thank you very much for the encouraging words, Harry! Yes - I am very much looking forward to building this kit, looks like it will be a little more challenging than the other kits I have built - but I'm sure it will be very satisfying! Best regards, Mark :-)
Nice one, Mark! Was really nice to hear you talk about the contents of the kit, very evident you had researched it beforehand, unlike poor Alfie who asked if it was fwd or rwd, he he... But still, lots of good insight from you both, always very informative, your videos! The kit looks like great value, only thing I would imagine to replace would be the pinion, avoid the aluminium slush... I'm still undecided whether to buy one or not, I think I will have to pass for now, see how it looks later on, be patient, see if there are any good offers coming, he he...
Hi Mads this kit comes very well specified as you saw (and heard!) Yes I always do my research, don't want to sound like an idiot on camera! 🤣Definitely replace the pinion, yeah the rest is all good to go. Oh but you gotta buy one pal! There must be some good deals out there! 😎👍
Cheers, Matthew 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I'm really pumped about this new addition - never had a high spec Tamiya before - is it worth it? We will see! Thanks for the Black Country support mate ;D
Cheers Rob! Yeah - I thought I would give you a little shock! I thought long and hard about all the choices - but as I already have a TA-02, I could always buy the 037 shell, and the reasons for going for the Xv-01 over the TT-02 version of the Integrale - well - we went over them in the video, didn't we? Thanks for the comment dude - appreciated ;-)
Many thanks JD!!! I can't wait to run it - but I have to build it first! Looks a bit more complicated than any other Tamiya I have built so far - wish me luck! ;-)
Thanks for the comment, Skansman RC! Yes - this unboxing is just the start of the fun to come, building and running the XV-01 with the beautiful Lancia Delta Integrale body! I just looked at your CC-01 Isuzu - very nice :-)
Such an excellent and thorough unboxing. Good job, Mark and Alf. Not really sure if a comparison of an XV-01 to a TT-02 is fair, but interesting it was. Well, I really like the idea of the TTs. An allround affordable easy-to-work-on entry-level chassis for touring cars, rally cars, buggies, drift cars with amazing after market parts. The XV-01s are specialized and much less affordable, as you say. But I really enjoyed the unboxing, and looking forward to the build. I have thought about gettin’ an XV several times. Such a cool chassis. And you really picked the most iconic body for it. Thumbs up, Mark.
Hi Nordic RC Visions! Thank you for your excellent comment, as usual, Mikael. It sure is a great looking chassis with a very good specification - but is it worth the extra money over the TT-02? I hope we will find out very soon! I am sorry if the video seemed like a comparison to the fantastic TT version, I really did not intend it to be! As I said at the beginning, my search for a new Tamiya rally car started with the TT version of this Lancia - as we agree, very iconic, and my heart was set on the Lancia delta. However, as I was about to order the TT, I saw the seller also had the XV version (extremely rare in the UK). So I did a little research - the XV was £100 more - Why? And was it worth the extra money? So the comments I made in the video were more of a justification to myself as to why I spent the extra cash! My logic was that I would almost certainly upgrade the TT with metal bearings, oil shocks, turnbuckles, adjustable shock towers etc, and easily spend that extra £100!!! Rob and I have some interesting plans regarding the TT-02 and the XV-01, as I am sure you will see very soon! As always, I really appreciate your input and look forward to chatting to you about all things RC for many years to come! Very best regards my friend, Mark...
Mark Bryan RC Ahh, yeah, the comparison makes a lot more sense to me now, both with the background story and now when I see what Rob has posted. Not so much just a TT-02 vs XV-01 but a TT-02 Lancia vs a XV-01 Lancia on two very different chassis’. And yes, it also at the same time makes sense to present what exactly one gets for twice the money, if one wants a Lancia Rally Tamiya. I take all my scepticism back, he he. Still have to find time to watch both Robs and yours video. Looking so much forward to it 😃
Thanks for the great reply, Mikael - I'm very pleased you were able to read my last comment - or explanation! I have just as high hopes for the TT version of the Delta as I do for my XV version - I think they will both be great in their own ways, you never know, the entry level TT may well surprise us all! One thing is for sure - they will both be mouth-wateringly beautiful! I look forward to your valuable input as the project(s!!!) continue, as always. All the best, Mark...
Thanks for the compliment, Chris! Yeah, I hear good things too - we are about to find out! Thanks for following along Chris - I hope the XV series of vids to come on my channel don't disappoint :-)
Now that, Sir, I totally agree with! It is definitely my favourite build, a little trickier than most Tamiyas, but very rewarding and pays dividends when you drive it, the car handles like no other Tamiya I have! Thanks for watching and the cool comment! : )
Thanks a lot Steve - ARRGGGHHH - I'm really not looking forward to the stickers! I'll ignore them for now and just concentrate on the build - but stupid me - I only went and got another shell for it - the Subaru Impreza - more damn STICKERS!!!
Great kit to go for Mark. Yep the XV is certainly more suited to off road than the TT-02 - which I plan to buy as I have a Killer Body Lancia Stratos bodyshell ( the iconic Italian version ) knocking about somewhere. Maybe next year. Excellent unboxing and looking forward to the run video ( and the build if you do it. ) Love rally cars and thumbs up to this vid too...👍.
Oh man - thanks Cosmo! Really glad I saved up for this one - looking forward to the build and first run - yeah, I will try and film it all !! ...and LANCIA STRATOS! One of my all time favourites! - I don't know if you have seen my DT-02 Super Fighter "tribute" Alitalia paint job? Haha - not the real thing but the real rally car was imprinted on my soul in the 70s when I was a nipper, saw it run in the UK round of the world Rally! Iconic mate - you gotta stick it on a TT-02. Thanks for the lovely comments mate, see ya later ;D
Fabulous buy Mark. It's called XV because it is a Cross (X) over (V) chassis Some regard the XV-01 Chassis as the ultimate off/on road Tamiya chassis. I have two of these, one being the XV-01T Asterion, which is the same but with a bit more suspension travel. They are super smooth runners, and you can feel the quality when you use them. You are going to love the build mate. : ) ps if you do lose your manual I can email you a copy or it's available to download online.
Thanks very much, Derek! Cheers for the info - I am learning all the time - what a great hobby! I was inspired by seeing your XV, and all the lovely goodies you got for it - we need to see your run video my friend! Can't wait to start, tomorrow now as I have started another bottle of beer! Thanks on the manual too - if I need some advice I will certainly message you my helpful friend :-)
Wow mate that looks like it's going to be an exciting build abit like my R2-D2 build, it's going to be Amazing when it's done ,i look forward to seeing the video when it's done brother , fantastic video thanks for sharing Mark.Booooom 😄😁😛👍👊
Thanks a lot for the kind words, Tony! Yeah - but not quite as complex (or as BIG!) as your R2D2 ;-) I hope it is gonna be amazing mate - just completed the first few build stages, and it does feel like a classy bit of kit! Thanks for following along Tony, have a nice evening my friend - BOOM!!! ;D
Nice presentation and have fun building this chassis. Only annoying thing is that you have to bring along a screw driver for changing battery in the field.
Many thanks for the comment, aviano72, your words are much appreciated! I have just started the build process - a little tricky in places, but we live and learn! Yeah - I did think it was strange that you need a screwdriver to change the battery - oh well, nothing's perfect!
Great unboxing Mark! The XV-01 is a lovely rig. Looking forward to see the build and the maiden run :) I'm still thinking about getting the XV-01 long shock spec version (84375) but maybe later this year. I preordered the TT-02 Gazoo Yaris WRC (58659) so the XV-01 has to wait :D
Thank you, Charlie! What a terrible predicament - too many lovely Tamiyas so the XV has to wait ;-) The Yaris sounds like a lot of fun - look forward to seeing that! Yeah, the long shock XV sounds great, but I had enough trouble finding this version in the UK! Build starts tomorrow, vids to follow later - just gonna enjoy the build process for now! Thanks mate :-) PS I thought I saw on your facebook profile that your surname is Ferrari? Now that is super cool!!!
I'm glad that it's easy to find those kits in Germany and Austria. At least Germany is a huge market. I'm definitely looking forward to see the rig. Yes my surname is Ferrari :D
Yeah - you are lucky the rigs are available near you! As for the name - how iconic is that! But it would be difficult to use it as your channel name, as when viewers looked at the content, they might be very confused, seeing a Tamiya instead of a full sized 458 Italia, Enzo, Berlinetta or 288GTO ;D
Hi Mark, really enjoyed this video of the lancia build, I have ordered a kit to build for myself which will be my first, any tips on which are the best ESC’s and radio gear to use to complete the kit.
Glad it was helpful, Derrick! I always use the standard Tamiya TBLE-02 ESC, as it can support a brushless motor if I want to upgrade in the future. As for the radio gear, I'm afraid that I still use my vintage Acoms 27Mhz on most of my cars - but I hear lots of good things about the FlySky radios! All the best and happy 2021! :O)
Cheers Mark. Yeah, we found out about the rally blocks when Rob bought his TT02! I think all Tamiya rally cars should come with those tyres! All the best... :)
Thanks RC VOODOO!!! The stickers are the part I'm least looking forward to! But I can't wait to get building the kit - looks gorgeous - my first high-level Tamiya, after all these years! Thanks for watching buddy :-)
That is some nice bit of Kit!! Mate, that Car has topped my list for quite some time. I REALLY want the 240-Zed Body - before they're all gone... The Chassis looks MUCH more complex than my TT-02! I like that!! 😉 I really have to get that Car... I'm Italian, it's Italian... we MATCH! LOL 😂😂 😂 Enjoy Mate!! Carmine 💥 ⛽
Thanks man - great comment! Yeah, I have been looking at this and saving for over a year now - I decided to wait till I could afford the XV - if I got the TT version I would have only wasted money trying to make it better (not that the TT is a bad car, just saying!) I LOVE the 240Z - I may try and get a body only in the future - it sure is one sexy car! And you have Italian blood! Wow, Ferrari, Lancia, Ducati, MV, the list goes on - you need an Italian body ;D
Yeah, I actually want the XV-01 Lancia Coupe Rally Car. I was watching them defy the odds back in '82-84, winning over the unbeatable Audi Quattros!! I actually forget the Model.... 0-30-something.... I'm sure I'm Wrong, but it was a very distinctive little Car, easily recognizable! I like my TT-02. It's definitely more of an on-road Car than off. Are you going to film the actual building process?? Not many people have seen one being assembled...
Yes Carmine - full build series coming up... And the Lancia Coupe you remember is a true beauty - the 037!!! You can still get the Tamiya hard-body shell of that car - about 30 bucks in the UK, not sure in the US! But you are correct, it's a truly iconic rally car and would look great on any TT-02 chassis ;D
*037!!!* Thank You! I must be getting old... I see that Body pop up from time to time, usually reasonable price too. I LOVE on yours, where it's a Lexan Body for durability, but also has Plastic and Plated bits, to add a much higher level of detail to the whole thing!! BTW..... A tidbit I remember from an older Tamiya Article - the Plastic parts that are extra shiny, are either ABS or flexible Nylon Plastics. A coarse or Matte finish, even some Grays and Blues, are most often, Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic. Hope that helps!! 👊😉
Very nice video. Like I told you I want to buy buy and you advised me to get the XV01. I saw here in the video that there is no remote control in the box, battery charger, and maybe there is no battery. What is the product code that has all this in the box? and is it possible for the car inside to be ready? painted, with stickers, and assembled. That is, it only needs to be charged as soon as I take it out of the box.
Hello and thanks for the comment! Oh, all these Tamiya models are kits that you have to build and do not come with controllers, batteries or chargers. I don't think you can buy them new, ready to run. If that's what you want, the best thing to do is to buy one from eBay that has been built by someone else. There are many available for sale along with all the things you need to make it go! :)
Good point! Can't see any real difference myself. I would have bought the Subaru if I could get it 30% less, but I could only get the Lancia. Thanks for the great comment, best regards from Mark... :)
Hi Mark! I have finished my delta. It is awesome, I don't know how to share with you photographs. I need a new dampers kit for racing, can you recommend anyone?
Hi Antonio - yeah the Delta is awesome! You could make a UA-cam channel and post a video of photos! I think the best dampers you can get are the Tamiya TRF shocks, try an eBay search for them, there are many available - good luck with the racing! :)
@@MarkBryanRC yes you are right but on eBay are only TRF dampers for buggy or touring car, not anyone specific for xv01. I think I have to buy yeah racing dampers
You could indeed but the Yeah racing dampers, they are very good, but then I find that the stock shocks are very good too! Even if the listing says for touring car or buggy, TRF dampers of the correct length will work well on the XV01 when set up correctly, I have seen many others use them with success. I hope you find the shocks you need! :)
Just bought an xvo1 lancia exactly the same as the one featured in the vid but mine has the rs540 silver can not the johnson that you mentioned, do they vary or has my model shop sneakily removed my johnson and replaced it with rs540 ?🤔
Hi there and great to hear you got yourself one of these awesome kits! Not sure about the motor, I bought mine over 4 years ago, it may be that Tamiya have changed the supplied motor, but I can't be sure! Sorry!
Ooh like like like ! I've looked at the XV01 in the past but got the TT-02 because of the price. It does look like you get a load more bits and bobs with the XV01 though and I'll be really interested to see if the better spec translates into better handling. It's a shame they didn't include a lexan piece with a cockpit and driver's like they did on those old Tamiya kits. I can't remember if we discussed it before but I did build up a Lancia shell for my TT02. The real shame was that it never even made it onto the chassis property because I needed to adjust the wheelbase compared to the Datsun and it was on my list of things to do. I'll send you a pic on Messenger when I'm on the PC. I didn't do all the Martini stickers as they looked like a flipping nightmare. I'll be interested to see how you get on with them too. This could be on my shopping list when the insurance money comes in. Keep the great vids coming mate 😀
Hi Pete! Hope you are well. Yeah, you can see from the vid why I really love this one - half way through the build at the moment - a bit more complicated and involving than the Tamiya kits I am used to! But it is pure quality mate - building the steering linkage with 6 roller bearings was a real treat! No slop! Pity about your Lancia shell never getting used, you just have to get a new one now. I've been filming the builds - the videos are too long for my liking, but I keep thinking that all the footage is too important to leave out - oh well, people will watch or turn off - at least I am having a go! Thanks for the encouragement again mate - you are a good egg ;-)
Mark Bryan RC Well I think with a build vid it's going to be quite long if you are showing most of the stages. I guess you can speed up some bits if they are repeating previous bits. People can always skip forward if they don't want to see the whole thing. I'm sure it'll be informal yet informative Mr Cholmondley-Warner !
Thanks mate! Yeah, I'll post the first build part 1, as it is - I have sped up some of the footage and it's now only 20 minutes! As you say, viewers can always skip the bits they are not interested - we will see how it goes by the views and comments. Thanks for the input, and I love the fast show reference (I have the box-set!!!) ;D
OMG - I am going senile!!! Of course I knew that - especially after you reminded me! - and yes, another classic, it must be the Paul Whitehouse connection that was confusing me, at least that's my excuse mate ;D
I prefer the XV01, but then it is a lot more expensive! The TT02 Type-S is also a great off road chassis, after the front suspension has been modified. Best regards from Mark...
@@MarkBryanRC the xv01 costs ~ 220€ in Germany currently incl. body, bearings, ralley tires and oil shocks (and 540 motor..no idea which)) Tt02s is €140 without body and with onroad tires. For the gap of €80, what tuning parts do you reccommend for the tt02s to make it better ralley?
@@drakunusrcmaniac8708 The only thing the TT02S needs is Rally Block tyres! All the rest of the good stuff comes with the kit! And of course, you need a body. At the prices you say, it's a close thing! Have you seen my rally videos of the TT02S? It runs so good off-road! :)
@@MarkBryanRCa must buy is defenitely a kamtec shroud to protect the chassis from dirt :-) I have seen your vids of course. Very entertaining and useful content. Last question: Which motor/esc combo is good? (Sensored, brushless, 2s) Any reccommendation for the servo? Something with a good value for the price?
@@drakunusrcmaniac8708 Agreed, the Kamtec shroud is a good idea! As for motors, I really like the Hobbyking sensored 13.5T motors, great quality and price, I have 5 of them! They work OK with a TBLE02s but better with the Hobbyking ESC that you can get as a bundle on the Hobbyking website. A good cheap servo is the Radient RS-Bs201. All the best from Mark...
Hello Mark.Really nice Unboxing and What....A ....Great....Kit. Congratulations on the purchase..

I LOVE the 240Z - I may try and get a body only in the future - it sure is one sexy car!
Very interesting video thanks! Will a TT-01 body fit on this XV-01 chassis? Wheelbase is the same it seems.
Yes it will, my friend, fortunately for us Tamiya fans, the TT01, TT02 and XV01 all share the same wheelbase and width! Cheers! :O)
Great car and kit, very explanatory video...still why they sell the same kit with a Subaru body around 30% cheaper than the Integrale?
Good point! Can't see any real difference myself. I would have bought the Subaru if I could get it 30% less, but I could only get the Lancia. Thanks for the great comment, best regards from Mark... :)
👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks very much 😀 👍
Sorry!
@@MarkBryanRC No worries sir I have a brushless motor I'm thinking of installing now , love your vids great work 👍😎
Oh yeah, brushless is a great option! Thanks for the kind words, Cheers! 😉🙏👍
It was Harry Enfield's Television Programme mate but yes very similar !
OMG - I am going senile!!! Of course I knew that - especially after you reminded me! - and yes, another classic, it must be the Paul Whitehouse connection that was confusing me, at least that's my excuse mate ;D
For Offroad racing, xv01 or converted tt02 chassis?
What's better??
I prefer the XV01, but then it is a lot more expensive! The TT02 Type-S is also a great off road chassis, after the front suspension has been modified. Best regards from Mark...
@@MarkBryanRC the xv01 costs ~ 220€ in Germany currently incl. body, bearings, ralley tires and oil shocks (and 540 motor..no idea which))
Tt02s is €140 without body and with onroad tires.
@@MarkBryanRCa must buy is defenitely a kamtec shroud to protect the chassis from dirt :-)
I have seen your vids of course. Very entertaining and useful content.
Last question: Which motor/esc combo is good? (Sensored, brushless, 2s)
Any reccommendation for the servo?
Something with a good value for the price?
@@drakunusrcmaniac8708 Agreed, the Kamtec shroud is a good idea! As for motors, I really like the Hobbyking sensored 13.5T motors, great quality and price, I have 5 of them! They work OK with a TBLE02s but better with the Hobbyking ESC that you can get as a bundle on the Hobbyking website. A good cheap servo is the Radient RS-Bs201. All the best from Mark...
How many did you pay for it sir ,? Very owesome looking
Thank you - the XV-01 Lancia kit was about £210 GBP, but didn't come with any electronics, the ESC and servo, receiver etc are extra. :)
