I loved all the afters. What a huge difference. Some of the outfits looked really cute in the before, but when you showed the after, I didn’t like the before as much. You really showed what a difference a few small changes make to an outfit. Great informative video.
OK, for anyone interested here is a hack. It's actually a basic design principle. If you want something to look balanced, give it more visual weight at the bottom. When framers matte artwork they always cut the matte a little wider at the bottom. You can do the same by keeping your top proportion slightly shorter than your bottom proportion. That is why tops got cropped when waists got higher. If you're wearing a midi or maxi skirt, your outer layer needs to adjust & either be slightly longer or much shorter comparatively. That's what the 2/3rds rule is about. You can also divide visually into 5ths. If you are not tall, 5'4" or under, raising the waist & lengthening your lower half visually will give you a longer vertical line & make you look taller. Pay attention to your horizontal lines & how they divide hour vertical. If something is "off" in your outfits, it's probably that. Feel free to disregard if you don't care about balance & want to play with your proportions. This is just info for help in analyzing / deconstructing your outlfit in an objective way. 😅
Youre so cute and rhe pieces are so nice that even the befores weren't terrible. But you definitely made improvements! It's so important to understand proportions!
Great styling tips, Jamie! I never think about layering a sweater over a dress but it's a nice way to transition a dress into fall and it just looks like a sweater and skirt. 😊
Jamie, you are spot on with these alternative looks! Such an improvement and more modern. I love sweater vests. I usually look for a v-neck or split neck so my collar can be seen. My favs are the blazer, v-neck and white blouse and the green sweater over the print dress. Perfection !
I love your voice. It is relaxing and so very sincere. I love your page. I love the updated looks you offered in this video. The only one I wasn't crazy about was the cap sleeved vest. A slim fitting turtleneck with that sort of oversized vest would look best. Pair with a longer length bootcut pant, and you'll look very elevated and put together. I often think the shorter length pant leaves women looking a little "cut off" around the ankle. Who among us does not love long, lean looking legs? That, I think, makes women look best. :)
Thank you so much! I agree with the turtleneck looking good with the vest! I usually wear that vest with my flare jeans which do make me look long and lean!
Happy FriYay Jamie, so appreciate these tutorials. I am always adding to my closet but never consistently think about how to change it up with something I already have. Also am now great at layering so this video hit the mark!! My favorite is the blazer with sweater vest. Looks so pulled together and classic. Enjoy your weekend!!
I seldom agree with styling mistakes videos so I almost didn't watch this But I really agreed with every one of your examples. The first one definitely caught my eye since I did not think I could wear long cardigans, but I see a way it could work. Well done!!
Very nice upgrades. I appreciate the styling ideas. It’s a high of 83 F here. Sigh. I’m still waiting for fall. I lived in Maine for 15 years and it’s this time of year when I miss it the most.
The shacket and long cardigan seem to have the same problem of lacking structure. I like your belt idea and I am thinking that adding lighter color or patterned silky layer and a thin knit as a base layer and buttoning or belting the waist would help . If the cardigan is buttoned all the way and it is worn as a dress, would it look less frumpy with tights and tall boots?
Bravo Jamie! I love the new looks! I'm thoroughly loving wearing the sun dresses, that I got on sale at Walmart with sweaters that stop at the waist, but I do wear my No Boundaries ankle booties in Camel or cognac with them. They just look too cute not too! They may not be in style right now but that won't stop me. I found a warm blue Time and Tru mini dress with flutter sleeves and off white flowered pattern on it, and paired it with Walmart's Brown Acorn colored sweater. The waffle texture of it with the gorgeous warm blue with print just complement each other so well, add the Camel ankle booties or warm brown knee boots and it looks carefree but thoughtful. The dress is still 19 dollars online but 13 dollars in the store.
I agree, a collared shirt looks best with a sweater vest or layered under a v neck sweater. Traditional button downs don't work for me ( too busty & sizing up makes the shirt not fit thru the shoulders) & I would personally love collared & cuff shirt options that are not a traditional button down. Something similar to a polo style collar but with long, cuffed sleeves. I had a body suit like this back in the 80s & loved it for layering under vests & wearing with skirts ( no tucking in required) Non button down blouses used to have collars. Whatever happened to those?
What size of the Loft dress did you get? I went to the site and they don’t have petite in my size. Thinking of a size 2 compared to 4 in reg if I do. Any recommendations in size? I’m 5’2” 114 lbs.
I am wearing the 0 and I'm 5'4" and 116. I could probably have sized down because it's a little roomy so I think the size down would work for you and with your measurements even the size 0!
Hi ladies! I would love to know what you think of some of these outfits and if you like the transformations! Thanks so much for watching!
I love how your video is not a "don't do this" video, which makes me sad, but a more positive "this is better" video. Thank you, I'm inspired.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! Thank you!
The "before" of the 1st outfit looked like pyjamas and a dressing gown! And the "after" was so much better.
Lol, I agree! Thank you!
LOVE ‼️ this video ‼️More this type, PLEASE ‼️
I am so glad! Thank you!

My favorite was the green sweater with the blue dress and boots. So stylish and flattering on you! Thanks for the tips and Happy Halloween 🎃👻
When I wear blue and green together everyone is friendly. I guess it makes you look more approachable.
Thank you so much! I love that one too! Happy Halloween to you too!

You are good!!😁👍
Thanks so much! 😊
Liked the dress and green sweater! But what are the suede light brown boots you are wearing ? Dont see them listed
They are by Dolce Vita and they are linked but the color in the link image is black I think.
Cropped blazer or jacket over dress would look good too
Yes, it would!

Ya, I'm surprised we don't see them since polo style collars are back!
Shopping my closer for look alike to put together.
Great! Thank for watching!
I was using my brown purse like yours and my husband said it looked like a tool bag. Men have no style 😂😂
Lol, that is hilarious!
Turtleneck tops make me feel claustrophobic. Maybe a cowl neck.
That would work!
I can’t find the chocolate brown jeans are they linked? Thanks!
Yes, the link is in the description!
❤❤❤
💕
I can’t find the link for the black cuffed jeans. Where are they from?
And then other creators are saying ‘no’ to shackets. Goes to show you - wear what you want.
Ya, it's definitely not the most on trend item but I know people still like to wear them.

@@YourGuideToStyle my waist size is between a 26-27 in pants. Does the dress have an elastic waist or normal? Is yours a petite?
The sleeves of the best are drooping. Should be a straight up sleeveless vest
It's meant to do that.
The sweater over dress is too stuffy
Shackets are frumpy and boring and really for women with large front and rear
I think they can be cute on lots of people!
And remember to love your neighbor and be kind ? In a fashion video 😂🤡
Oh course!
Are you ok?
always love hearing her say that!
Why not?
