I imagine the first verse being sung the pre-existence Second verse His mortal ministry Third verse for those of us that await His return. Fourth verse His triumphant return. This song helps life come into perspective and find the peace only He can provide.
There is nothing quite so beautiful as the human voice singing praise to our Creator. Can we anticipate the choirs of Heaven? And to meet the One Who died for me
Let it be known to all the world and to anyone of u reading this that this beautiful choir's touched my heart and my spirit today and may God bless them I love the only true church on earth today even the church of Jesus christ of latter days Saints
Little did these ladies and gentlemen know the joy and comfort their voices would bring me and, I’m sure, many others in the depths of a coronavirus pandemic. I thank you, and pray for your safety.
Thank you for your comment Ian, it makes me think about my American friends, how they are managing & all the performers in this wonderful hymn, performed with grace & sincerity. Our Govt. here in the UK ducks & dives, it changes tack so often, in trying to balance health v economics. Stay Safe, our prayers are with you all. God Bless!
I've gotta say, even though I'm non-religious, this hymn in this arrangement really does help me through the difficult times we're all going through at the moment... greetings from Great Britain xxx
This is my faith and love wrapped in one glorious, beautiful, and perfect hymn. Thank you Dr. Wilburg, MTC, and the Anglican tradition for giving us this masterpiece.
We're singing this in church tomorrow morning. The arrangement is absolutely stirring, and we have the singers to pull it off. I have to say that this recording just gave me chills that took a while to calm down. The organist didn't hold anything back, but the choir had no problem soaring out over the top of the accompaniment .
Found the words to this hymn on line - so i sang along with the choir. I sing as a good as a crow (not to brag) but the spirit of my day changed after i sang this with the choir
This hymn is overwhelming. It leads your emotions so gently through the 1st and 2nd, then powerfully through the 3rd verse. Just when you think your soul can't take the beauty any longer, that 4th verse comes in on the Mack Wilberg key change and you feel like falling to your knees and pleading for the 2nd Coming to come This Day. "Lost in wonder, love, and praise!!" Mack Wilberg has changed my life. Time to renew the hymn book so we can sing these words to Hyphrodol.
+Spence Redford I have a very difficult time listening to this song without tears coming to my eyes. They start in the second verse when the women sing, "Take away my love of sinning." Such powerful lyrics, and Mack Wilberg's arrangement brings goosebumps every time. This is easily in my top 10 songs the choir performs, and is arguably number one on most days.
While Dr. Wilberg is a great composer and director - you also need to give credit the actual composer and writer of this hymn. As well as many others the Mormons have taken from the Anglican tradition.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (May 31), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. I did so because our Sunday School Lesson came from 1 Corinthians 13.
I pray for our Christians, our citizens, and our country to find our firm foundation once again--it is time! Our dear God has been waiting ever so patiently!!
My heart is full!! This is hands down my favorite hymn! The words are so powerful. It takes me on a journey through the atonement. This rendition has gotten me through the darkest of times. This has been my constant prayer to our Father, to help me to live and love as our Savior has.
Mormon Tabernacle does an outstanding and beautiful job of singing reverent music. They harmonize and blend voices beautifully. They understand the term "Ministry of Music"!
Just a magnificent presentation of Gospel truth using gifted voices & instruments to bring all glory to our GOD! Thank you, I so enjoyed and appreciated this!!
Im going to be singing this with the utah all state choir this year in this exact building! Im so incredibly excited to sing this especially. The entire song is wonderful, and is now added to the very small list of songs that have actually made me cry. The last verse leading into the "amen" made me tear up so much and get a knot in my throat. Im not particularly religious at all, but that doesnt take away from the fact that this piece is amazing. Bravo! (Edit: not this building, but the smaller tabernacle next to it haha)
This choir is a true blessing. I am grateful for their gift of music. The Holy Spirit is truly evident when they sing. Thank you fot your contribution to my life. God bless you.
This was the perfect song to hear on Music and the Spoken Word today before General Conference. It really is the same message as most of the talks. Praising the Savior, and expressing gratitude for His compassion and love.
I've always loved this hymn, but this arrangement is glorious! I especially love the delicious modulation before the last verse. Beautifully done - thank you!
As always, the diction of the MTC is beyond reproach. I don't know how they do it, but the clarity is quite extraordinary and probably the finest I have heard from such a large ensemble. Absolutely beautiful!
wurlitzer895 Sit in on a rehearsal and you will get an experience that you will never forget - then you will know how they do all the technical aspects.
It has a TON to do with the building. It literally has perfect acoustics. I've never been but the saying is you can hear a pin drop from one side to the other.
Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of Heav’n to earth come down; Fix in us thy humble dwelling; All thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus, Thou art all compassion, Pure unbounded love Thou art; Visit us with Thy salvation, Enter every trembling heart. Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit Into every troubled breast! Let us all in Thee inherit; Let us find your promised rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; End of faith, as its beginning, Set our hearts at liberty. Come, Almighty to deliver, Let us all Thy life receive; Suddenly return, and never, Nevermore Thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, Serve Thee as Thy hosts above, Pray and praise Thee without ceasing, Glory in Thy perfect love. Finish, then, Thy new creation; Pure and spotless let us be; Let us see Thy great salvation Perfectly restored in Thee; Changed from glory into glory, Till in Heav’n we take our place, Till we cast our crowns before Thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise.
I learned this hymn as a child with a very different melody at a much faster temperature, that conveyed a dynamic confidence. Despite the same words, this version evokes a very different mood and is essentially a totally different song.
This is better than dark creepy orthodox music. Ask yourselves, is it fear you want? Or is it love? God loves us. He doesn't want us to live in fear. It is true that we must fear His wrath but He does not want us to live in constant fear for we are His children. This is what I would say true Christian music.
Yup. That bass at 5:29 made me search specs for this organ, and indeed it appears that this is one of the relatively few organs on this planet that have 64' pipes in the bass, in addition to a healthy array of 32's. It really sets a bottom line that cannot be argued with.
Unusual to hear these words to "Hyfrydol" a lovely arrangement, I would love, however, to hear this choir's rendition of these words to the other welsh tune 'Bleanwern'.
One of my very favourite hymns, but sung to the tune Blaenwern rather than Hyfrydol,, By the way What a Friend we have in Jesus can be sung to both these tunes
There aren't too many things more beautiful than hymns praising our Lord!
The hymnals are indeed a fabulous music resource.
I imagine the first verse being sung the pre-existence
Second verse His mortal ministry
Third verse for those of us that await His return.
Fourth verse His triumphant return.
This song helps life come into perspective and find the peace only He can provide.
If human beings can sing like this, what more shall they going to sing in that glorious city of God. I love this it really prepares my soul
Oh am telling you my Brother this the most touching choir in the world because God is with them
This is what heaven sounds like to me. I always feel the Spirit when I listen to this song of praise the MOST.
The MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR IS THE FINEST of ALL THE CHOIRS IN THE WORLD, AND THE LORD'S CHOIR REALLY!.Thank you Dr. Mack Wilberg.
There is nothing quite so beautiful as the human voice singing praise to our Creator. Can we anticipate the choirs of Heaven? And to meet the One Who died for me
I’ve met Him multiple times…He definitely lives up to all the hype, and more
What could be better than singing in Heaven with our Creator and loved ones?
This is a good comment
We are not that different from each other all over the world. Music is a blessing
Music is not only one of the great blessings of my life, but also a great uniter of people.
Let it be known to all the world and to anyone
of u reading this that this beautiful choir's touched my heart and my spirit today and may God bless them I love the only true church on earth today even the church of Jesus christ of latter days Saints

you don't have to be religious to understand God's pure love for you.
This is my faith and love wrapped in one glorious, beautiful, and perfect hymn. Thank you Dr. Wilburg, MTC, and the Anglican tradition for giving us this masterpiece.

It's beautiful!! Having both sung in a choir and been the organist, it brings back many wonderful memories.
Praise to the Lord of all. I was so lost, but now I’m found and on the right path. Thank you Lord! 🙏
The Mormons have kept the music!!!! Hallelujah and Amen!!!!
Found the words to this hymn on line - so i sang along with the choir. I sing as a good as a crow (not to brag) but the spirit of my day changed after i sang this with the choir

I love your descriptions on this song. Glad someone else sees the magnitude and power of the versus!
Hi. What hymns are in your Top 10? I love the MTC!
@SingerGuy59 Same here. What worshipful music! I'm very grateful, and want to live worshipful and grateful when I hear this.

How fascinating... And your point?
I love the Choir. Every night I listen to them. They bring peace to my soul. What a blessing they are to us. Love this Choir!
Wow well done
I pray for our Christians, our citizens, and our country to find our firm foundation once again--it is time! Our dear God has been waiting ever so patiently!!
Terrific choir backed up by exquisite organ playing. Such beautiful transitions!
... on a great set of pipes. :)
Wish I could sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! Everything they sing is so, so beautiful!
Many voices as one. Even more beautiful is, to know that Source is in each and every one. Is in me, in you , in all.
My heart is full!! This is hands down my favorite hymn! The words are so powerful. It takes me on a journey through the atonement. This rendition has gotten me through the darkest of times. This has been my constant prayer to our Father, to help me to live and love as our Savior has.

The greatest hymns ever sung or arranged with such precision, love and faith. It's great to wake up to listen to such.
Such power in all those magnificent voices plus the organ!! Love Devine!! Love the quality.
Just a magnificent presentation of Gospel truth using gifted voices & instruments to bring all glory to our GOD! Thank you, I so enjoyed and appreciated this!!

Tabernacle has a better organ anyway!
Salvation is in the lord jesus. I am the door to eternal life thoses who so ever believeth in me will never die .
This choir is a true blessing. I am grateful for their gift of music. The Holy Spirit is truly evident when they sing. Thank you fot your contribution to my life. God bless you.
Our Father in heaven. Please bless us to gather soon and sing to thee again. Amen
I really love this organist. He dares to show the full power of this organ. Love the braveness. :-D
O glorious...sanctuary voices filled with heavenly grace. Lord, make us to share this harmony even at your feet.
As the praises go up His glory comes down 🙌🏽
This was the perfect song to hear on Music and the Spoken Word today before General Conference. It really is the same message as most of the talks. Praising the Savior, and expressing gratitude for His compassion and love.
Absolutely sublime! The stunning vocals and the magnificent pipe organ. Thrilling to the core of the soul!

I am no longer a member of the LDS church, but this is a hymn in The Episcopal Hymnal. Glad to share so much in common with my former faith.
One day I would like to see a performance like this just being there.
Greetings from Germany.
This is one of my favourite songs
Thank you for this. THIS was the hymn I needed to hear on a "social distancing" Easter morning!!
I've always loved this hymn, but this arrangement is glorious! I especially love the delicious modulation before the last verse. Beautifully done - thank you!
Wow! Sure glimpses of Heaven presented in this beautiful, transcendent music here! 🙏🏼

Wow wow wow may the almighty God be praised. Thanks to the tabernacle choice. Grtings from East Africa Kampala Uganda.
The hearts of the people who sing in a chorus beats in unison and their emotions are tuned
Well I guess this hymn will be sung on my wedding day. Beautiful hymn.
Absolutely amazing ! Great arrangement !
Love divine, all loves excelling,

One change- take away the love of sinning
One of the best hymns ever. It's no wonder we are still listening to it - especially now.
God is great and his mercies endures forever.
Always counting on people like you that post the lyrics so that we can sing along.
Wow. I love how the song just continues to build and build. Amazing.
Me too
Love divine all loves excelling this hymn is my best pray and pray with out season
Absolutely wonderful; an amazing arrangement, capped with soaring vocals. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a treasure . . .
This is simply wonderful. The finest example of how hymns should be sung. Thank you. :-)
Thank you all so very much.
Cant stop listening . So beautiful...if the heavenly choir sounds like this I pray that grace will be granted to me to be part of it...
Very moving and well done, watch the ORGANIST, his timing
What a beautiful rendition of this amazing and thoughtful, old hymn by a terrific choir!
Love, set our hearts at liberty! ✝️❤️
beautiful song deeply rooted in history of Christianity! thanks!
1:54 beautiful lyrics

Truly stunning arrangement of my favourite hymn.
Great sets of pipes, organ and human. :) Delightfully moving rendition of one of my favorite hymns.
je suis dans la joie en vous ecoutant
Simply marvellous
still, an amazing arrangement and performance of a classic. I am hoping for a performance in this new-normal age we live in.
Beautifully sung... really touches my heart and soul...
Great Welsh hymn tune...
I learned this hymn as a child with a very different melody at a much faster temperature, that conveyed a dynamic confidence. Despite the same words, this version evokes a very different mood and is essentially a totally different song.
Just beautiful. Bill
So powerful. Thank you for posting.
Ahhh pre Covid church ✝️💜 🥺
Beautiful. Thank you, MTC.
Beautiful!
Beautiful..❤️
Beautiful.
Wow! Just Wow...
Love the the low C on the contra bombarde at the end :)
Very beautiful - as ever.... Thank you so much for posting... I'd also love to hear them sing this lovely piece to the tune 'Blaenwern'
Very powerful.
Lovely. Thank you.
Thank you for the prayer
This is better than dark creepy orthodox music. Ask yourselves, is it fear you want? Or is it love? God loves us. He doesn't want us to live in fear. It is true that we must fear His wrath but He does not want us to live in constant fear for we are His children. This is what I would say true Christian music.
Yup. That bass at 5:29 made me search specs for this organ, and indeed it appears that this is one of the relatively few organs on this planet that have 64' pipes in the bass, in addition to a healthy array of 32's. It really sets a bottom line that cannot be argued with.
I've never heard this version. I know this hymn as "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus" I wonder which one came first?
ITS THIS SOOOOONGGGGGG I love songing this in Sacrament meeeting
Wow. So sublime!
Hey, another classic from my beloved "Mo-Tab". What more can I possibly say?
Nice song, i love it
HYFRYDOL. My favorite hymn tune.
It's a great tune. But I prefer "Love Divine" by John Stainer. I would love to hear what the MTC could create with a decent arrangement of this tune.
That's one of my favourite tunes too
Beautiful
Unusual to hear these words to "Hyfrydol" a lovely arrangement, I would love, however, to hear this choir's rendition of these words to the other welsh tune 'Bleanwern'.
interesting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaenwern
Angels singing so beautiful. 8:00
Beautiful! ❤
Beautiful!!!!
One of my very favourite hymns, but sung to the tune Blaenwern rather than Hyfrydol,, By the way What a Friend we have in Jesus can be sung to both these tunes
