During the period of the global Coronavirus pandemic I went on a mission, and this song was part of my preparation to serve the Lord, this song brought a lot of peace to my heart
I've listened to this song and the story, it stuck with me, I didn't know why, after having two of my children murdered a year and three months apart having one son left, no justice here on earth, it's been eight years for my youngest son and seven years for my oldest and only daughter, God with much Grace and Mercy has brought me to this point I can say it is well with my soul despite the pain I'll always have until he calls me home. He's a good and just God every man must go through him.
My heart aches for your loss. Having just lost my son 34 days ago, makes me think of how much easier it has been, for me, as I was with hm for his final hugs.I is Well, with my soul. Then the other anthem, 'Be Strong In the Lord", is the other hymn that is giving me strength and courage, to get up and move through my daily activities.
Beverly, I cannot begin to know your pain and anguish. I am amazed by your strength, similar to my amazement with the composer of this hymn who lost his four daughters, which was the catalyst for this hymn. God bless you!
such is the power of this inspired him, to comfort all of us, going through pain and doubt, and...when you are fortunate to hear this, it does just that. the Mormons are an inspiration here, in this singing.
They just shut off my grandfathers oxygen. Because of COVID I was not allowed to be with him. Said a prayer and listened to this song. He will be missed. I’m a better man today because of his influence. I love you grandpa!
My dad specifically requested this song be sung for his funeral, which occurred a couple months ago. Now I can't hear it without thinking of him. I loved this music before. Now it's a memorial to my Heavenly Father and my earthly father.
I just lost my mom in a tragic car accident. I miss her dearly, but I know it was well with her soul. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior from sin.
I lost my beloved dog of 12 years today. Man I was a mess. This in someway soothes my soul. I can imagine that Buddy and Dad are in heaven free of pain and suffering. This brings me peace…❤
As a child I listened to the choir after going to bed. I listened to Richard Evans and the spoken word as part of the beautiful experience drawing my sad.heart up to God for my new dad was always drunk. I was frightened of the angry sounds. He finally received help, God bless 12 step programs, and he and my precious mother are long gone, I am 83 now, but still praise and thank God for the healing wonderful ministry of your heavenly music I can still lie in bed, in the dark and know God is near as I listen. God bless every soul that is part of your gift from God to the world.
I heard this version performed by an honor choir of high school students and I cried through the whole thing. "My sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!" Afterward I had to come find the song on UA-cam. Beautiful song!
We get a close-up of the woman at 4:20 but I know that many members of the choir are also crying at this point in the song, myself included. No matter how many times we did this piece it remained a very emotional number to perform and stay detached enough to be able to sing through the feelings it generates. There were always sniffles when it ended.
SingerGuy59 I’m sooo pleased Our Kind Heavenly Father allowed me to meet Dr. Wilberg and request this arrangement be commissioned in honor of my Beloved Pastor. The first time Dr. Wilberg sent me the rough draft I was balling my eyes out!! THANK YOU to all of your beautiful voices coming together to create such angelic singing in Praise unto our God!! Even tho we are going through this trying time in our World right now, it IS well!! Blessings to you all!!! 🙏🏽
Dion L. SingerGuy59 / Dion L. - Thank you both so much for your parts in bringing this masterpiece together! This unique combination of music and message truly touches my soul each time I listen to it. I am in particular need of having my sins, not in part but in whole, nailed to the cross, and I am eternally grateful for my Savior who has graciously made it possible for it to be well with my soul!
I absolutely love this hymn!❤. My anxiety and depression have taken a toll on me lately! I tend to create my own problems! Anyhow listening to this has helped ease me back to sleep...at least tonight! Thank you choir and more so my dear Lord and Savior! Love you❤
When I see the singers crying I just know what they are singing is true...they know it and God knows it. The spirit will visit us and testify to us of the Christ.
"It is well with my soul". This doesn't mean that we will not feel sorrow because of our trust in God. But what it does mean when we say "it is well with my soul" is that we trust Him and know that this earthly life, while important, is but a blip on the radar of our eternal existence, and that there is so much more that He has to offer us. Pains, sorrows, and afflictions cannot undo what the Savior has done for us, because he took those upon himself and only asks that we call upon the Father in His name, as he called upon His Father for strength and courage to not only endure this life, but to thrive.

The story told and the song played at my brother's memorial service today. My mom requested it as she is burying her second child. It is well with our souls because we know that families are forever.
Family sang it to us when my husband was in ICU with covid and a brain tumor. Hearing the words of the song and feeling the music brought a sense of holiness and peace as we prepared for his passing. Then it was sung last week at my husband's funeral. I feel God's reassurance every time I hear this music. Yes, through Jesus Christ, it is well with my soul!
I am sure that I was led to this song by Angels. I have listened to it before, but tonight listening I am moved the most. Having two family members pass on, so close in time, grieving feels so heavy, but listening to this beautiful hymn sung by one of my favorite choirs is a Godsend. And I am now told by God and Angels..."we are here, we are always here, you don't have to hold your grief alone, we are here, and when you cannot stand, we shall carry you, we are here for you and All."
So Beautiful. Your testimony has inspire me to share mine. I could never understand how this man could say it was well with his soul, until tonight. I have lost my parents, close family members ,friends , my only sister and 11 months ago , I lost my dearly beloved husband after almost 53 1/2 years of marriage. But through his death, and his example of having a close relationship with God, I began a journey to get a clearer picture of the Face and Heart of of God, whose Love for me is incomprehensible! God has shown me in countless ways, that He cares so deeply, so individually, so personally, and so unconditionally for me and my disabled daughter, who lives with me. The icing on the cake is that God has promised He will come back to earth again, and take us all Home to live with Him and our loved ones forevermore. Yes, it is finally Well with My Soul, because I have experienced the Unfathomable Love of God and I Love Him back with all my Heart and Soul. He has shaken me into His Reality through countless life-saving miracles this year. My heart and soul are absolutely full of Gratitude and Love Overflowing for Him. And again, I say: Yes, It is Well with my Soul.
When I was a little boy in the 50's I wanted to sing in the Choir. It was so amazing. Now I am 70 and still would love to sing with this amazing choir. They have blessed us with so many amazing arrangements of music for which I want to say Thank You!
I’m an atheist but having studied music, I have always loved sacred music. This is definitely one of my favourite hymns. Knowing the inspiration behind it, we can all relate to it regardless of faith.
I am so comforted by this hymn right now. My brother just died and I know we will see each other again as he has gone to be with the Lord. It is well with my soul.
Please pray for me and my brother. We do not do well relating, I think averagely and he is a non-conformist. Relating to others has always been easy for me, and most people respond in a simple way, but he says and does things differently than the average person.
Just so beautiful. I am having tears of joy again and again. I have survived a cerebral bleeding and have troubles with walking and controlling my leg. I trust our LORD to be fully restored, whatever His mighty plan with my life will be.., it is well with my soul; because I know Him and know he loves me and has nailled ALL my many sins to the cross. All praise to the ever living God; everlasting love.
Wow wonderful singers... tnx Jesus Christ our savior.... Without abiding in you nothing we can do. I feel heaven on Earth because of you Jesus our savior. Thank you Jesus for bringing back the Kingdom of God on Earth.
I am so glad this beautiful hymn will be in our new hymn book. I was so hoping it would. I love this choir version, and it stays with me all day and reminds me that it IS well with my soul.
When I was a child, this song was always sang by members of the Methodist Church when necrological services happen. Back then, I don't belong to any Church, but I admired the song. I asked for a copy from the Pastor. I was in tears when I realized the profound meaning of the song. It was then that I realized why they always sang it every necrological service. When I learned about the Atonement, it was then that I loved the song. Years after I experienced heartbreaking life challenges- death of loved ones, persecution, and many others blows in life. With faith in the Lord Jesus Christ I know everything will be alright. It is well with my soul!
What is a necrological service? I have never heard of that. I searched it on my browser but cannot seem to find an answer. I love this hymn so much too
I could listen to that song 10K times and not get tired of it. There is a mighty spirit with it. "My sin, not in part, but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!"
Only God can create a pure heart, through trials that are prescribed for our personal healing. Only God could see past our suffering to the important task of purifying of our soul. Thank you God Jesus ❤🙏❤️
"My sin, not in part, but in whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more." Those words _always_ bring tears to my eyes. Such a powerful lyric in an absolutely beautiful setting.
When I was a Protestant, they use to sing this song and, it was my favorite one too. I’m so glad that this in the hymn book. It really brings joy and reminds me of the grace of the Son, Jesus Christ

I've felt really uncertain about my own future lately. Over the course of these last few years with the pandemic and due to some severe medical issues in my family, I've felt really alone and uncertain. Listening to this song helps me remember that no matter how bleak things seem the lord has a plan for me and for everyone else. Anyone reading this, I hope you know there's a bright future ahead somewhere, even if it's a little tough to see sometimes.
Amen! Especially in a world that has so much emphasis on stress and fear, may we all feel at peace knowing that God is in control and that we are right where he wants us to be! Praise be to God!
My friend sent this beautiful hymn to me as I struggle with Fibromyalgia every day. Sundays hard for me because of intense pain I don’t get to leave my house often. This hymn helped me feel loved by my Savior and to know he loves me.
Spafford lost a great deal of his property in the Great Chicago Fire and then his daughters due to shipwreck. What tremendous faith to pen these words after such a loss.
Our hope lies within Him ,the sinless One, who were made sin ,so that we will have eternal life...Mindblowing in degrees!!! Happy Sabbath everyone. One Sabbath nearer to His coming!!!
I’m full of tears 😭 the Holy Spirit is alive 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 everything I’ve gone through proves I will be okay , I have peace in my soul knowing that God loves ❤me so much 🙏🏽
There were a lot of glistening eyes in the choir and orchestra during this performance of this angelic hymn, just as there are many glistening eyes like mine watching it. Thank the Lord for this.
Many an individual, including me, have felt the loving hand of God on their shoulder as they sang this wonderful old hymn. Life is always the bitter with the sweet. What more could we want? It is well with my soul.
I can't imagine what the songs in heaven with the angels will be like. Wow

Their meetings and doctrine is just as beautiful as their music....even more so inside the temples.

The song per se is not "Mormon". How it came to be is tragic but inspirational, look its history up.

Bliss.Cette chanson m'émeut toujours beaucoup. Elle semble s'adresser à tous ceux qui souffrent la perte des leurs, avec l'espoir de les retrouver un jour dans un monde meilleur.

Listed Closely and you WILL hear God's Angels Singing
When you feel that special spirt of the Holy Ghost, you know that the words uttered by song or by a talk are true and God is with you.
