I turned off Marcy's essentiality using console commands and I watch how she is turned into bits of gore by deathclaw with crowd's applause. It's compensating any flows in arena working system :D
So I just did my first arena match featuring: 3 deathclaws, 10 gunners, 10 mutant hounds, 10 super mutants, 3 yao guai, 10 feral ghouls, 5 insects, 10 raiders, 5 mirelurks, 1 robot, and whatever settlers decide they want to join in. To me surprise the lvl 5 glowing radroach managed to win over all the NPC's as the last one standing. For raiders, gunners, and super mutants, you should be able to build something like the beta wave transmitter. Maybe an explosive collar dispenser like the slaves from fallout 3.
A great compact arena is using the boxcar walls and doing orange for one side and blue for the other. Then use the prefabs to build the boxcar on sticks as a viewing area. Now just build the traps and etc and your set.
I always aim for the lowest elevation i.e in sanctuary, I build in the creek where it's shallow; spectacle island is tougher than you might think because each large enough area has it's own unique challenges and suffers because of arenas having trouble on built floors/platforms but there is one floor i never have trouble with and that is the pillar glitched pad of rug glitched together patio tables. those umbrellas are dope for some reason.
One thing I've noticed in these Red vs Blue matches, is that when I place these platforms far from eachother, companions have a harder time noticing one another than settlers.
SinRain12, try the drop weapons, go into workshop mode then store them all. im on xboxone and it lowers the build limit. i don't know how far you could take it on a console i only needed a little more room. heavy weapons seemed to take a bigger chunk. in one drop i got from "you cannot build anymore" back to green. took like 20 seconds
Okay, since we all seem to have the same problem, where the settlers seem to attack each other *as soon* as you assign them to their platforms, I made a pretty cool way to avoid that...a little bit. You'd still have to keep them far apart until fight time, I recently made a really cool fighting arena on Spectacle Island. It's actually really huge (12 floors wide X 15 floors long, it's much larger than it sounds, trust me). But I made a spot for the platforms, walled in by railings (since dumb ass settlers can't get out of railings. They're like walls, basically), and closed off from the arena by an automatic door. Then from the door into the arena, I decided it was a little too big, but would take too long to take down. (Since it's also 2 levels of seating, like a football stadium. I spent a long time on this, lol) so I built a type of maze directly from the door to the platform to the center of the arena, which is still very large. And the maze is on both sides for each settler. I am currently working on another platform on both sides for tag team matches or 2 or 3 settlers vs a creature. Can't wait to try it out.
Never had these problems, but noticed differences. You put the platform on backwards, there are stairs on the platform and people face away from the stairs. , you only need one cage and make sure you fill the cage first and it has no windows. When I set someone on a platform they stand there and go there after combat. I noticed if you do not have the right direction they face the wrong way.
Just get switches and connect powerlines to fix your problems with the cages and BTW the cages probably don't work due to the gaps because my cages worked fine...
I'm making a huge Deathclaw research island on Spectacle Island, featuring a breeding ground, huge bridges where you can study the deathclaws, 8 ranchers who take care of the deathclaws and live beyond 'the wall'. A Yao Guai feeding zone where once a week 5 Yao Guais are released to roam the island to meet their quick demise and are then used as food for the deathclaws and their meat is used to 'breed' more deathclaws. There is a small watch tower in the middle of the most populated area of the Deathclaw Facility. Thus far the island features over 50 deathclaws and many are added everyday.
It is a little difficult but your setup didnt really help either, the cages you put people in to assign battles, the walls arent connected via snap so they're gonna get out pretty easy and their path to walk to where your telling them to isn't gonna generate properly. And just an idea but the process you go through with electrical wires is about as hard as you could make it on yourself. A way that works better is creating a "circuit board" with alot of switches that way you can control all of your pieces that require electricity alot more efficiently. I love your videos and the info you put forward everyday, in my opinion, is unparalleled on UA-cam and you do a great job. But on a few of your videos I feel would be 100% better if you spent more time searching out more options to fix the little problems your having with the game throughout your videos. That's just my opinion, I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, but a few of your difficulties can be easily fixed. But I spend wayyy more time playing the game than I should, so I notice the little quirks that can fix the little problems. Love your channel.
+ParallelUniversity ya good point, but that could have been apart of a free update like they did with the new signs and paintings, raider clutter, mutant clutter.
Bethesda has gotten used to the community doing everything for them. When Bethesda released the Creation Engine, and allowed people to mod, I can't tell you how happy I was to see a *Community made* patch for PC because my fucking game wouldn't stop crashing without an error. That's not the communities job, that is the developers of the fucking game's job. They made the game, they should fix it.
Bethesda has always been a halfassed developer, but what they're making for FO4 is great. Making a builder system is not "giving players tools so that they don't have to do the work".
7:02 that siren doesn't work, well settlers will still work no matter how close to settlers u build it, its bugged, maybe the newer patch broke it if there were any after ur video there haven't been any patch for long time so i don't remember when the last patch was
I never really messed around too much with the Wasteland Workshop stuff whenever I played. I messed around a little with the Automatron stuff and made a couple of robots, but I never really delved too much into the Arena combat stuff or even the cages in general to be honest. I also never really got into the "factory" or contraptions as well as the Vault stuff. Have been watching a lot of Fallout 4 content lately, especially some stuff for Survival Mode (which I have dabbled in a little before) but lately I have really been wanting to go back and play some more Fallout 4. Maybe I will tinker with more of the Workshop stuff a little more and see what I can come up with.
Is there any way to make a non-friendly unaffected by the Beta Wave Emitter (e.g. a Gunner) fight against one of the settlers on a platform? My internet here is very slow atm so I can't watch the full vid. Thanks in advance :D
Is there a mod to fix my problem? I want to keep my creatures in closed spaces but whenever i wait sleep or im gone the creatures get out of the closed space. Is this a glitch or something/
I recently put in 5 settlers....that's *FIVE* against *ONE* feral ghoul in my super sized arena. All 5 of the settlers had no weapons and were all fighting with their hands and feet. The ghoul ended up kicking their asses...all 5 of them! I assumed that they would rip that feral ghoul apart in seconds, but they ended up screaming and running instead. In fact, it was funny bcuz I actually have never heard settlers scream like they did. It was all new to me.
Okay real talk, I got the big old fancy Arena just like you said right? Did everything did the T. In the end I had to move around some walls for them to even acknowledge each other's existence, not to mention create a new platform. They kill each other, and I get the achievement. I'm starting to understand why that's a rare achievement.
my problem with this dlc is every time I start a battle by unleashing the cages, my companion robot will automatically start fighting the caged opponent even if they're not assigned to an arena platform. then all of my Settlers jump in and attack once my companion attacks.
If you want a big arena the mechanists lair is bad for you because its not that big, i built mine on the island then rage quit because stuff wont snap correctly, ran out of concrete, (even though i started building with other one thousand.) and half way in the build randomly my supply line disappeared then had to get a new provisor. No idea what happened to the provisor and her cow
Thanks, you talked me out of trying it. I'll just enjoy my new concrete building blocks. Which snap even worse than the vanilla ones. Or go through the stupidly convoluted process of taming creatures for my settlements only to have their pathing leave them stuck in a building till I shift between cells, following which they promptly get stuck again. What fun. Why the fark did they release this, it's not like they need even more bad press.
I think too many people thought this was a gameplay-based dlc, and bought it (or downloaded it via season pass) expecting some new gameplay mechanic. Let's face it - it's not. This is the Fallout 4 equivalent of Hearthfire. This is a fantastic $5 chunk of content that makes role players love this company. I'll gladly say it - Hearthfire was my favorite dlc for Skyrim, and this might end up being my favorite for Fallout 4. In vanilla, we had settlements that we could man with settlers and a few named npcs. Lovely new addition to the franchise. With automatron, you can be a mad scientist and fill it with your own robots to protect you/it. Now, you can be a crazy cat lady and cover Taffington Boat House with 50 cats. Or be a raider, and set up a settlement to lure unsuspecting settlers in and then make them fight to the death against each other - winner gets to live and equips raider armor. Or surround your base with tamed deathclaws so no one dares enter... I'll get WAY more hours out of a dlc like this than any story expansion they'll ever add...
+William Bowles I will admit a bell to start the fight between red and blue teams would have been nice. Also, let me trap more factions. We have raiders and gunners, let me trap settlers, BoS members, Synths....Oh god, being able to trap a BoS Scribe and have the BoS show up in vertibirds to attack your settlements? Amazing....
I did something similar, but put all the cages and doors on a terminal. when everything was ready turned everything off all at once hell broke loose ... the death claw matriarch beat everyone, I had to finish her off. the naked ghoul settlers were the first to go.
I like the video and think its helpful But my God, my OCD has never been this bad The way how he set all the benches Uneven walls and doors I'm going to have to watch this and build that part of the settlement Exactly and fix it just for the feeling of relief
Or have a deathclaw chase you around and you have to set off traps to kill it no weapons just traps and losing doesn't mean you die you can give up and go into a safe room with heavy laser and rocket turrets and a few traps to kill it
This should be a cautionary tale for all developers. DO NOT advertise a feature until you have it working correctly. They should have scrapped this idea as soon as they knew it wasn't going to work.
+nightshadow989 Just like Hearthfire was for Skyrim. The scary thing that people remember from Skyrim is we had limited DLC's. Is this going to be the case for Fallout 4? If so, I fear it will not even make it to the 1 year marker before people are tired of the Main content and DLC's.
IVAO04ify yep im already growing bored with it but what do you expect from a game that you can only do so much even with it being so big its the whole reason i got tired of elder scrolls every game once i discovered and cleared out every area what next? just level up till im maxed out on everything? meh guess thats why i prefer mmos and games like diablo 3 lol
jgarrigues24 thankfully patch 1.5 that comes with the patch for far harbors release will allow you to uninstall any dlc you dont want anymore aka they found out that there 5 dollar dlc is shit ai wise and are now letting people uninstall it without having to redownload the game lol
i find that you should also add a kill all type setup (surround the arena in turrets that can be turned on and off by terminal or switch especially if your doing it caged vs caged combantants since once there done killing each other they'll start killing you. and some of the raiders are god awful strong im saying this as a level 50 saw 1 of the raiders kill 3 deathclaws. i was dumbfounded as he smashed my power armoured face in. since he ran out of bullets and decided to use a sledgehammer. wish i couldve made him docile or force him back in the cage so i had an amazing champion but i eventually just had essential companions just about swarm him before he died now i have missile turret platforms surrounding it and have had no problems since for now at least a deathclaw did flop around for a few minutes more than normal but after 10 almost game crashing barrages he went down
I use my arena as punishment for captured raiders. I put a Deathclaw in there for him or her to face (no guns), if the raider wins, that raider may go free.
Can you help me on this? So,i get a deathclaw and two mirelurks, and without the arena, the mirelurks started to fight the deathclaw. Is this normal or is just a bug?
I really think the arena battle system is half baked. I thought I was missing something, but it really is that difficult and frustrating. Thank you for explaining it.
I have to say that your arena seems a little sloppy. I would think that you would have the doors between the combatants on one switch. Doors to platforms can be on separate switches so you can stage them properly before the fight. The arena system requires some planning, but I think it can work pretty well if you think ahead.
+Ted Collins nope the teams engagement range is very small your settlers attack anything that isnt "friendly" even when told to stop working with the traffic light thing they well instantly get out of there seats and shot what ever you release if its not friendly and on top of this for some reasons settlers now have issues going thru doors making this whole seperating combatants with doors even worse and robots just refuse to fight at all
Can somebody answer plz I need to know which things that I capture in a cage I can make fight each other and not my settlers Like can I make gunners fight raiders and them not kill my settlers?
Does any 'big door' or 'double door' exist (ideally, that can be powered) ? Through a mod ? Because, with the biggest creatures like the deathclaws... They don't pass through ordinary doors, really.
How did he manage to get the radstag doe inside the arena? Did it just walk in to there? Are non friendliest able to walk in to the arena to get trapped in to the cages? If so I'm doing this wrong. Thanks
i have some questions 1 why cant i get robots to duke it out every time i try to assign them to a team and then open the doors they just stand there they dont even fight at all even if i do like i had to with my settlers and hold there hands out the door or in the settlers case until they teleported thru it lol the robots zstill wont fight each other they will just stand there against each other and play the staring game 2 why am i all of a sudden at lvl 83 starting to see skulled enemies again aka enemies that are much higher level then me AND seeing enemies ive never seen before like mythical death claws? was there an enemy update i didnt know about? i know these new enemies also give a fuck load of xp too and it seems that like if i catch a ghoul or one of my settlements is attacked by ghouls they seem to be mostly charred versions now whats going on? dont get me wrong im enjoying the bigger xp drops makes lvling easier lol im just wondering wtf happened XD im on normal btw and 3 settlers seem to be having issues with doors i made a decent sized arena and had powered doors on bother sides of each contrainment spot one to close behind when there in and the other to open into the arena when i was ready to have them fight but getting them into a door seems to now be a huge pain in the ass and this now goes for all settlers they seem to be having issues going into door ways as they well just walk against the wall or go twords the door way then turn around and stand there im hoping its not just me fyi im playing on ps4
Display_Name exactly and ive never seen a mythical deathclaw or a gunner commander before i dont think let alone any gunner that had a skull by its name since i was like in the low 40s mid 50s lol now all of a sudden theres mobs higher then me? wtf XD again i dont mind cause 174 xp per kill hell yeah but wtf youd think such an update would have been mentioned
nightshadow i just got to level 73 i think, and noticed some of my legendary guns have dropped in damage points. but it didn't happen until i opened the weapons workbench on an exploding combat shotgun gun i just picked up. one shotgun i already had was at 212, the overseer guardian i had at like 204. now both are under 200.
Okay, so this answers how to do it for real. If you want to know how to get the achievement, build the two platforms, build the time off/traffic light thing, put a settler on one, have a tamed animal, and turn the traffic light to green. Done. Easy peasy.
I built an entire arena with a Deathclaw and a Radscorpion. Problem is that one or the other always find a way to teleport thru the cement walls. How can I keep them inside?
I was about to make a Jurassic park but after the first Cage, i realised the same as you said. Now the DLC makes no Sense. You build a Cage, they walk out and thats all...
So does the Beta Wave Emitter give a reason for your settlers to butcher the animals (Currently don't have one so when putting on a battle all my settlers start shooting the fish in the barrel)
I don't Know if it's just me but i can't make settlers to fight each other. I can only make fights work with companions. Companion vs companion, companion vs settler, settler vs immortal person (Mama Murphy or Sturges). Only those. Why?
+Unelson23 Yeah, I think that's all it is. You can only sit on one side of a bench. Just need to spin them around. He probably didn't bother because that wasn't the point of the video.
wait so dose this mean i can't make a friendly fight a friendly because i wanted to see with one of my robots where better in a fight because the only test I've done is have them both fight the brother hood and they both took around the same amount of time to kill every one. they both have everything but the head hydraulic and both have the Ahab helm but one is a sentry and the other is a assaltron
Bethesda half assed it because there working on car harbor once that is closer to finishing (May) we will get a patch for wasteland workshop and mods for xbox one
can't wait to make Marcy long fight my sentry bot
cant wait to watch paladin danse vs a glowing deathclaw :)

Oh let me just stop whatever I'm doing and start talking to you

I personally think they should have added an item where it's just a blank platform for free-for-all battles.

I think the best place for me to build an Arena is Spectacle Island. The area is roomy mostly at the center of the settlement.
Best arena location is Starlight drive in. Large, flat area makes for a thrilling cage fight
I like to build different robots and unleash them on raiders to see what works best for settlement guards. My favorite is assaultrons without arms. 💥

Section6581 DUDE IM ON PS4
SinRain12, try the drop weapons, go into workshop mode then store them all. im on xboxone and it lowers the build limit. i don't know how far you could take it on a console i only needed a little more room. heavy weapons seemed to take a bigger chunk. in one drop i got from "you cannot build anymore" back to green. took like 20 seconds
hmmm yes my nuts are itchy mmm
Can you do a guide on getting the resources for the cages?? They are hard to find
dude. actually go and search for the resources. they're literally everywhere. every step you take you get something.
they aint easy to find all the different types of meat, ive been to all vendors across the commonwealth
hunting
Nice video. Helped me a lot
Dude, you make the best videos. Keep it up!
What exactly these arenas give? Do they increase happiness, affinity, or (somehow) makes caps?
Foxhound482 Just fun.
100% accurate.
"Plays Jurassic park theme
This was really useful thanks and stay awesome mate
+JV2017gameplay first time I create 2 legnth wall to pervent deathclaw from climbing out while waste of so many fucking space
+JV2017gameplay again man sorry for the lengthy comments on your last few videos.
Cougar Clifford is that a actually problem?
+Just Noob i don't know if long comments are a problem or not I just feel bad cause I feel like I'm rambling :p
you said thing ha also lol
Yeah.. it's very hard and frustrating. Not a very successful DLC. Fun if you have the time.
+vastis if they can patch it and fix it, the DLC would be fun but right now it's just annoying
I mainly just like this DLC for the extra building materials. The arena thing is only fun a couple of times.
+ParallelUniversity ya good point, but that could have been apart of a free update like they did with the new signs and paintings, raider clutter, mutant clutter.
Bethesda is literally giving players tools so they dont have to do the work... Mods have truly made them a weaker developer for that...
especially now that there will be mods for consoles
+4Gaming and now you know why this dlc was so half assed
It's our own fault. We kept saying mods do this better so now there letting us do shit ourselves.
7:02 that siren doesn't work, well settlers will still work no matter how close to settlers u build it, its bugged, maybe the newer patch broke it if there were any after ur video there haven't been any patch for long time so i don't remember when the last patch was
Hai JV. I made a settler fight the vault rep and then I put a synthetic gorilla inside. After that a cat....... Then a deathclaw. It was fun
So basically, it's a glitchy mess. Got it. Wasn't going to bother with it anyway. Thanks for the vid!
Jezebel is gonna have a wonderful time fighting deathclaws for all eternity
Okay real talk, I got the big old fancy Arena just like you said right? Did everything did the T. In the end I had to move around some walls for them to even acknowledge each other's existence, not to mention create a new platform. They kill each other, and I get the achievement. I'm starting to understand why that's a rare achievement.
my problem with this dlc is every time I start a battle by unleashing the cages, my companion robot will automatically start fighting the caged opponent even if they're not assigned to an arena platform. then all of my Settlers jump in and attack once my companion attacks.
In my Starlight Arena, I made a VIP lounge.
so can you just catch a bunch of enemies have them fight and loot their stuff?
I like the lock doors mod. shut everyone (even settlers) out even when your scouting, its fun
I can't find a transparent material my captured raiders won't shoot through, it pretty much ruins my spectators fights.
Just use Slocum's joe glass wall npc can't see you there
A bell, like in an boxing match. Sound bell, settlers fight, sound bell again, settlers stop fighting
Wonder if you can catch an animal inside mechanist lair? Hmmm that would be the perfect fighting arena
Damn I forgot the mechanist lair was a settlement
+FatBoy John John yea now u see what I'm talking about haha
Jldive89 Diver is there even a work shop bench there?cause I never seen one there
If you want a big arena the mechanists lair is bad for you because its not that big, i built mine on the island then rage quit because stuff wont snap correctly, ran out of concrete, (even though i started building with other one thousand.) and half way in the build randomly my supply line disappeared then had to get a new provisor. No idea what happened to the provisor and her cow
You can't use it it's an indoor settlement and the cage section isn't even available as far as I know
Thanks for the tip on waiting like an hour in game
Amazing....
I guess that quitting time siren is like a break siren
How do you prevent the spectators from shooting at the combatants?
Ragemutt watch the video
I did something similar, but put all the cages and doors on a terminal. when everything was ready turned everything off all at once hell broke loose ... the death claw matriarch beat everyone, I had to finish her off. the naked ghoul settlers were the first to go.
I like the video and think its helpful
But my God, my OCD has never been this bad
The way how he set all the benches
Uneven walls and doors
I'm going to have to watch this and build that part of the settlement Exactly and fix it just for the feeling of relief
awesome video!!!
thanks this helped a lot!
+Sebidee TW eh it has potential to work but they just slapped it together since it was only 5 bucks :P
I can't assign people to do shit anymore since this dlc came out. they won't listen. its glitchy as fuck
jgarrigues24 thankfully patch 1.5 that comes with the patch for far harbors release will allow you to uninstall any dlc you dont want anymore aka they found out that there 5 dollar dlc is shit ai wise and are now letting people uninstall it without having to redownload the game lol
I should do this to Cait! Thanks for the idea!
Hell that's shit dope af! Just downloaded the new DLC!
The masculine urge to make an arena in Fallout 4 and make a Marcy Long fight an armless version of Jezebel to the death.
i find that you should also add a kill all type setup (surround the arena in turrets that can be turned on and off by terminal or switch especially if your doing it caged vs caged combantants since once there done killing each other they'll start killing you. and some of the raiders are god awful strong im saying this as a level 50 saw 1 of the raiders kill 3 deathclaws. i was dumbfounded as he smashed my power armoured face in. since he ran out of bullets and decided to use a sledgehammer. wish i couldve made him docile or force him back in the cage so i had an amazing champion but i eventually just had essential companions just about swarm him before he died now i have missile turret platforms surrounding it and have had no problems since for now at least a deathclaw did flop around for a few minutes more than normal but after 10 almost game crashing barrages he went down
What I'm going to do is put some Raider cages and put in some machine guns and later I will have them fight other gangs and monsters.
Mama Murphy bout to get wrecked by a super mutant
+Ted Collins nope the teams engagement range is very small your settlers attack anything that isnt "friendly" even when told to stop working with the traffic light thing they well instantly get out of there seats and shot what ever you release if its not friendly and on top of this for some reasons settlers now have issues going thru doors making this whole seperating combatants with doors even worse and robots just refuse to fight at all
Can somebody answer plz I need to know which things that I capture in a cage I can make fight each other and not my settlers
Like can I make gunners fight raiders and them not kill my settlers?
Does any 'big door' or 'double door' exist (ideally, that can be powered) ? Through a mod ?
Because, with the biggest creatures like the deathclaws... They don't pass through ordinary doors, really.
How did he manage to get the radstag doe inside the arena? Did it just walk in to there? Are non friendliest able to walk in to the arena to get trapped in to the cages? If so I'm doing this wrong. Thanks
i have some questions
1 why cant i get robots to duke it out every time i try to assign them to a team and then open the doors they just stand there they dont even fight at all even if i do like i had to with my settlers and hold there hands out the door or in the settlers case until they teleported thru it lol the robots zstill wont fight each other they will just stand there against each other and play the staring game
2 why am i all of a sudden at lvl 83 starting to see skulled enemies again aka enemies that are much higher level then me AND seeing enemies ive never seen before like mythical death claws? was there an enemy update i didnt know about? i know these new enemies also give a fuck load of xp too and it seems that like if i catch a ghoul or one of my settlements is attacked by ghouls they seem to be mostly charred versions now whats going on? dont get me wrong im enjoying the bigger xp drops makes lvling easier lol im just wondering wtf happened XD im on normal btw
and 3 settlers seem to be having issues with doors i made a decent sized arena and had powered doors on bother sides of each contrainment spot one to close behind when there in and the other to open into the arena when i was ready to have them fight but getting them into a door seems to now be a huge pain in the ass and this now goes for all settlers they seem to be having issues going into door ways as they well just walk against the wall or go twords the door way then turn around and stand there im hoping its not just me
fyi im playing on ps4
Done. Easy peasy.
Trying to get Juni in his cage, Marcy is is in hers, Juni is being difficult, and the quitting bell isn't working.
Gage is going to experience his own gauntlet which consists of 10 death claws, let’s see how you like it 😎
Hey you can build robots and have them go at it instead of using the settlers
I built an entire arena with a Deathclaw and a Radscorpion. Problem is that one or the other always find a way to teleport thru the cement walls. How can I keep them inside?
I was about to make a Jurassic park but after the first Cage, i realised the same as you said. Now the DLC makes no Sense. You build a Cage, they walk out and thats all...
So does the Beta Wave Emitter give a reason for your settlers to butcher the animals
(Currently don't have one so when putting on a battle all my settlers start shooting the fish in the barrel)
How much, or is there a limit to how many settler(s) you can have on an arena platform?
I want to see Hancock fight a death claw 🥶🥶
I'm probably the only person who builds robots like gladiators for this purpose alone
I don't Know if it's just me but i can't make settlers to fight each other. I can only make fights work with companions. Companion vs companion, companion vs settler, settler vs immortal person (Mama Murphy or Sturges). Only those. Why?
is there any mod to make the construction size of sttlements bigger?
I'm on oct 2020 and my settlers won't fight or get assigned on the platforms...
Thanks, helpful to the clueless!
i hope that bethesda can make this feature alot easier, in future updates, as i had several problems with my arena.
Lol at them facing the wrong direction. Is that because of how you set the bench?
