Instead of the 917/10 they should’ve had the 917/30, aka the TURBO PANZER. That car had around 1500hp and was so dominant, and dangerous, that it killed the Can/Am series
@@100thomasmagnum you would think factory race car drivers would know better....but some dont....for example lee keen a factory driver who builts safari 911s , owns a guady-ass ricer RWB..................what a jackoff......................

Porsche the undisputed kings or creative interpretation of the rule book.... would love to see how the folks at Motorsport would react to a modern cam-am series, bonkers would be an understatement.
It’s too bad that the video gimmickry at the end ruins the driving being done. That’s not what I want to see when someone like Patrick Long is in a race car.

I would have loved to have seen some video of the 934.5 on the track, maybe that was the bit where I was having some sort of brain invasion... Just show some raw footage, you don't need to over editing and making into something fancy.
i'm so confused... Is the 917's engine a V12 or a Flat 12? In Porsche's other video they say the 917K have a V12 while this video say the 917-10 have a flat 12. They use different engine or something? I thought all 917 used the Type 912 engine, just tuned differently...
The 917 is not a boxer engine. It is a 180 degree V-12 or a flat 12. The 911 variants all have a 6 cylinder boxer engine which is not a flat 6 even though that engine is often called a flat 6.
No. No. NO! Every boy in the US in the 80's had a poster of a 930, the year is irrelevant but 1986 is my fave. The '73 RS was far more important than the first 964 on this list. As rare as the 934.5 is, I'll bet you 100 people would say the 935 before one said the 934.5. Icons are well known, definitive examples of something. They are the image that comes to mind when someone mentions the item to which they belong, e.g. say the words, "Porsche Turbo" and the 930 comes to mind. Great cars on this list but not an iconic list.
It's hard to make a poor video of Porsche classics and, while I don't think this is a poor video, to not have unadulterated onboard footage of Patrick Long driving one of the street cars on the road and the 917 & 934.5 on track at Willow is a colossal missed opportunity.
Love these videos but just letting the last car run by the camera or make a lap with a chase car would have been infinitely better than that hectic cut screen madness at the end
Sorry but the Montage at the end was horrible. I just want to see it drive I don't need to see it upside down backwards and flipping crazy looking. Peace
Isn't that car a bit too "young" to have achieved iconic status? And technically speaking that isn't an "official" Porsche, as is the car I would put on this list, the Ruf Yellowbird.
@@tjroelsma Euro Porsche-esque car company, Euro spec, and sold everywhere. Not really anything to do with the US specifically, so , no, not on this list. Hardly an 'official' Porsche, more like highly modified. Would you have them put a Singer on this list? Nope.
@@mtnvalley9298 I have to disagree. I know this seems nit-picking, but following your logic EVERY Porsche except specific US spec is a Euro-spec Porsche. As far as I know, Porsche's are built as world-spec cars, there isn't a specific Euro-spec. All they do for a lot of foreign markets is swap out some parts as dashboards, steering columns, headlights, brake-lights etc, mainly because of right-hand and left-hand drive differences. So can you call every right-hand drive Porsche a Euro-spec Porsche? The US market has some very specific demands, in my opinion mainly because the US doesn't want to be confirmist and so specific changes must be mandatory made to "create" US spec cars. But does that make them really substantially different from "normal" spec cars?
Porsche as an American icon?!? I think the authentic American icons are Corvettes, Camaros, Cobras and most of all...Chaparrals! The true American legends ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
American icons? What is he talking about? Everyone of those cars are American as Bratwurst. Only in America would you claim ownership over something that had nothing to do with you.

The Speedster is such a classic!
Hello!
At least he says Porsche and not Porsch
Yeah
Yeah but I think Pat Long would know correct pronounciation...seeing he is a long time Porsche factory racer and all.

Man, I love classic 911's
You just can't get that look.

perfectly put
Beautiful! Excellent Video!
James Dean, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, 3 giants Americans legends drove PORSCHE... "there is no substitute"
you forgot Mark Donohue, the guy who drove the Can-Am killer Porsche 917/30 'Turbopanzer' .
It’s too bad that the video gimmickry at the end ruins the driving being done. That’s not what I want to see when someone like Patrick Long is in a race car.
You are right, it ruined it. Too many graphics and not letting the car shine. Would have loved to seen a lap with only the noise.

Yeah they have hired a faceless moron from the UA-cam comments
Exactly what my comment said. The last minute of this was ridiculous. They made a joke out of a nice car
917 greatest of all time. I also would have the 930 turbo "widowmaker", the 550 spyder, 934, and the original 70s Carrera.
Fantastic cars 👏👏👏

The 934.5 is one of the best old school race porsche's ever... So perfect...
Loved the Mark Donahue reference!
Amazing Porsche’s I pick 934 looks super bad ass.😎
Congrats for the video! Real good selection
I love the “Interscope” livery on the 934!
What's the song that starts playing in 0:41
Im not sure which I would take off but the 928 should definitely be on the list

My Grandma Gave me a Newspaper that had the 1980 Porsche 911 Speedster!!!!
What about the 86’ 944 Turbo GTR that raced in the SCCA Trans Am series?
Bought my first of six Porsche’s from Vasek Pollack in Hermosa Beach California in 1970. A 911S.
PORSCHE Legends! 🏁

Does anyone know why the 917/30 Porsche had +Audi written on it?
Porsche & Audi Division of Volkswagen of America sponsored the cars.
Wow such a beneficial content.
