I’m trying to get a cast metal partial made at a dental school. They’ve had to make 4 partials already because none of them fit. I’ve been told by one instructor that I have the most complicated case that he’s ever seen. I go in next week for a fitting and I’m hoping this one works. If not I’ll need 3 more surveyed crowns to try to make it work for me .In addition to the 2 more crowns I’ll likely need soon. All of work I’ll need done plus all of the stuff I’ve already had done will cost me $4000 at a dental school. If I want a full mouth reconstruction at a professional place it will be close to $100,000. Possibly more. Surgery, orthodontics, implants, bone grafts, crowns. So much. I have had so many problems with my teeth since I was a kid.

You cant cure wax. During processing the wax is melted off and the cavity is filled with acrylic or flexible material. And it depends on what type of process your using. For matrix processing yes you need a heated pressure pot... But for flask processing you dont need a pressure pot but you will need a hydraulic press and a heated pot.
I've got four teeth on the top and my dentist says I can't get a partial because there's nothing to Anchor it to so all my teeth have to be pulled and I've got to get a full denture. Is this the case or are they just trying to get more money pulling all my teeth?
Jerry Hanson your dentist is definitely telling you the truth. Unfortunately, when most of the teeth are missing, the best option is to get the rest pulled and go with a full denture. Depending on which teeth you do have left, there could be a chance of getting a partial to work out, but there wouldn’t be many or enough teeth to create the retention needed to hold the partial in place. Also, when a lot of teeth are already missing, (and there are various reasons as to why, different for each patient) there’s most likely a high chance of the patient losing those teeth in the future. So, if the remaining teeth were positioned in a way where you could get some retention, and you paid to get a partial made, it’s possible that down the road, you could lose those remaining teeth and have to then pay again, but this time for a full denture. I work at a dental lab and I would also make the same recommendation that your dentist did. I hope this answered your question! I’m surprised to see how many questions in the comments have gone unanswered, so I figured I’d answer one!

I'm baffled. Metal in mouth and so close to your brain is NEVER a good thing. I'm surprised that the presenter is not aware of that yet is recommending it.
@@brandi5730 Definitely metal, I think it is chrome. I always had plastic partials, for 27 years,. It is worlds apart in size, and tasting food is a million times better. The metal feels better in your mouth also, and speech it so SO much better! It also builds confidence, as it is fits so much more securely in my mouth and like I said your speech and word pronunciation is so much better. I would highly recommend it. I have read online that there are side effects to the metal, so I would Google rather before deciding on the metal, but in the end the decision lies with you. I have a metal on top, and opted for plastic recently for the bottom, to get used to it first, as I have 3 teeth missing at the bottom, because of all the years of loving chocolates. But I cannot get used to it, now that I know how the metal feels. I mainly now have supper with the bottom plastic partial in as well, as it helps a lot with chewing. One only knows what teeth you are missing when you have a partial for some missing teeth made. So yes it is quite pricey, but I am saving up for the bottom metal partial, as it is not covered by my Insurance/Medical Aid in South Africa. Hope this helps.

@@brandi5730 You're welcome. I know crowns can be very expensive. They are about 800 dollars per tooth [and I need 4] here in South Africa, as compared to a set of metal partials, which costed me about 450 dollars for the set. The alternative plastic partial here is about 250 dollars, that is including dentist consultation fees for fitting etc, I know from watching videos that the prices in the US are double, if not triple sometimes. Some Dentists here will make you a plastic partial for 110 dollars :-) . The only thing with partials are that one must take them out when sleeping, and rinse them after eating, but I guess that is how it is with partials in general.

Can't hear
Bad audio
I'm baffled. Metal in mouth and so close to your brain is NEVER a good thing. I'm surprised that the presenter is not aware of that yet is recommending it.
Why so?
😂👌

Great!!!
Thank you. This was very helpful and informative for me deciding between a plastic and metal denture.
What do you prefer?
@@MeccaSpirit wonderful thank you so much 😊 yeah I have all my teeth but I had to get a stainless steel cap in the back molar 🦷 I’m just afraid eventually in about 5/10 years I’m definitely going to have to get partial for very back teeth crowns in Ohio are literally 1,400 it’s absolutely ridiculous
