I pulled out my Subaru power washer for the first time this year and when I turned the gas valve I could see gas leaking around the float bowl area. I could not take it to a shop because it wouldn't fit in my car so I found this video and watched it, studied it and followed it despite my limited knowledge and experience with any type of motor or power tool repair. I removed the float bowl, and (once I found the right screwdriver) removed the jet pin and nozzle. I cleaned them and noticed the o ring was loose, so I put that back on the carburetor, put everything back together and to my surprise, it started with no more leaks. Wife was impressed. Thank you for the video; saved me time and money.
Clered the carburetor with auto throttle cleaner. Also unclogged the fuel spray injector. Started on 1st shot. Now I have to charge the battery with a trickle charger. All thanks to your videos
Great tutorial! You saved me $150 plus (diagnostic and repair) When it was just the main jet and nozzle were plugged. Your videos are real and unedited, 100% transperency.Thank you- Thank you. I will just add that my nozzle will not come out, I used a paper clip and wiggle it out.
I bought the same model pressure washer at Costco about 4 years ago and I love it. It hasn't given my any problems so far. It has sat for 6 months without use and it fires up first try every time. I ALWAYS close the fuel shut off valve and let the gas burn out of the carb before storing it.
Thank you so much. I fixed my power stroke power washer which won't start with the method you showed in the video. Very easy to follow and save my time and money.
Hi Jeff, like others who have watched the vid, I was able to start my washer after viewing it. All I did was take the the soap dispenser off, removed the main carb jet and nozzle. Both appeared clean, but I ran a fine wire through all of the small holes, put it back together in reverse order and if fired up on the 2nd pull. Thanks.
I tried everything but didn’t pull the main jet, as it had flow when I blew through it. But when I saw you take it out and those microscopic holes on the side I thought that was probably it. Sure enough I used some thin wire to clean them out and my pressure washer is up and running again! Thanks a million for posting.
UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.
Thank you. Have the same one. Worked yesterday. Not today without choke. Cleaned main jet and voila! Thank you. Previously I would have thrown these to the curb.
Thank you, thank you thank you! Pulled out this pressure washer after it sat for maybe 5 years. Wouldn’t start. Put in fresh treated fuel. Still no go. Tried spraying carb cleaner in the carburetor and it would fire up but only ran for a second or two. So I knew it was getting spark but likely no fuel. Pulled the fuel hoses off and opened the fuel valve and had fuel running. Thanks for creating this video. After pulling off the bowl and cleaning the jets as shown it started right up. Thanks again.
Hi Jeff, Thanks very much for posting this video. I followed your instructions step by step and my power washer started right up with no problem. I was considering buying a new unit even though mine was only 5 years old. You saved me the cost of a new unit, thank you so much. I power washed my patio, and can now take the patio furniture out from storage in the garage.
Holy cow! It worked. Mine would only start with starter fluid and run a second so I knew it was a carb issue but had no idea how to fix it. Took the jet out as shown and it was completely clogged. Cleaned it reinstalled and it runs like a champ! Thank You
You are awesome. I feel awesome too by getting this working. Carb was sick with thick resin. Rehabed it twice and finally successful. The carb for this model with ES is $142 while the lesser models are $15. Thanks Jeff, Jeff
Awesome. I cleaned the carb in some Berryman parts cleaner but I didn't know about removing the jet first. I pulled on it till I ws wore out and blue in the face and then I tried what you did in this video. Wow! What a difference.
Thank you for this video! My pressure washer wouldn’t run and it turned out that the main jet was plugged. Once cleaned out it is running well. Thanks again!
This just saved me such a headache. Couldn’t get it to start after two years. Drained the gas, clean the cup and main jet, put new gas and boom! Fired right up. Thank you 🙏🏼
Many thanks. If not for your video I would have taken it back under warranty. I used non ethanol gas with stabilizer and even ran the tank dry before storing for 8months and it still wouldn't stay running. Followed you instructions and it works like new now.
I have the same power washer that I purchased from Costco a couple of years ago and the other day it just wouldn't start on warm or cold setting (choke/no choke. If I manually pulled at the throttle just a little it sputtered once and died. I followed this video and cleaned out the carb jets (they did not look too dirty) and cleaned out the bowl (there was some residue in it) as well as checked the spark plug (it was fine). After this maintenance it started right up so thanks for making this video and saving me a repair charge!
Mike B. I just had the same issue. Pretty sure the carburetor just flooded. I ran out of gas filled it back up. Went to start it and saw fuel coming out of the air filter.
Thanks for the very informative video.. Excellent and thank you!! My Suburu pw is fairly new and sat for a year. Instead of taking things apart, I removed the bolt on bottom of carburetor bowl and inserted a wire (a bread closure wire stripped 3"" or so) into the main jet which was clogged apparently. Emptied old gas and got some 100% non ethanol gas and it started right up.. I also bought a new carburetor on Amazon for16.99 after seeing it takes about 15 minutes to replace it with only two bolts..
great video Jeff, and it was a huge help. BTW I removed the carb (without having to remove the soap dispenser) and it was simple to get the jet and screw out that way, and it was only those 2 nuts to take it off.
Thank you so much - got my carb cleaned out (it was dirty and definitely needed it) but still didnt run correctly, turned out to be the fuel filter inside the gas tank. If anyone is still stuck after this try that!
Thank you so much Jeff !! You save me $85 dollars from the dealer service. After following your steps on the cleaning process the engine started like a charm!
Awesome video...thanks a bunch. Had this issue with our pressure washer and tried everything....except cleaning the jets like you showed. Thanks for the video!
Did exactly as you said and cleaned out the Jets that did not look dirty at all. wiped out the ball just like you said and it cranked right up. it didn’t look like I cleaned off ANY debris but those Jets in the carburetor are so small I guess it doesn’t take much to clog them. it worked so thank you
Great video Jeff. my main jet was clogged and after unclogging I got a first pull turn over, second pull was running. Don't have the fancy electric start like you. Old gas was trapped and clogged jet wasn't allowing new gas to get through. Washer sat for a year also. Time to replace seals on gun and hoses. Take care. Jeff also
Thanks so much for this incredibly helpful video. I have a Subaru EA190V installed on my Ariens All-Purpose Yard Vacuum.(a horrible device BTW). The device doesn't have electric pull start. It's been sitting for more than a year. Wouldn't start, not even with starting fluid. I followed your instructions (using an insulin syringe to clean out the holes in the jets). Even though the two jets looked SPOTLESS prior to cleaning, after performing the actions in your tutorial, the engine (which always was hard to start) started on an gentle first pull. The engine now works perfectly. Thanks again!!! One questions whether the engines ship from the factory in a "hard to start" state. As I said, after performing the cleaning, all it took was a gentle "first pull" to start the engine.
Thanks for posting this; it helped me get my unit running again. I didn't notice any blocks in the jets, but I ran some carb cleaner through everything while I had it apart, and it started right up. Must be some gumminess in the fuel after it sits for some time; it had been about 5 months since I last used it. I think adding some fuel stabilizer might help with keeping things clean between infrequent uses.
Great video but it is much faster and easier to remove the two 10mm bolts from the air cleaner and slide the carb right off. No need to mess with soap tank!
Thank you so much for this. Bought this exact model pressure washer at an estate sale, got home and it wouldn't start. I don't know anything about small engines, but I followed your video and to my amazement, it runs again. I was only able to get the first/smaller part of the jet out, though. At least it runs now. It pulsates like every 5 seconds while idling, too...not sure what causes that. Seems to run fine while being used though. Anywho, many thanks for the video. I was about to throw the damn thing into the street out of frustration.
Great video. It was just what I was looking for. My Rigid pressure washer with a Subaru engine was stored with some gas in it. I just needed to find out how to get at the Carb to clean the parts out , just as you did.
I did this today...1 pull and started right up!! Thank you!! Now to figure out why the soap comes out intermittently. And figure out what that extra connector looking thing thats covered in black rubber? Does this have something to do with soap? No idea where my owners manual is. Tia
have had this exact pressure washer for years always starts, and runs perfectly. remember to turn gas off and let it run until it dies prior to storage. Use alcohol free gas always and a little seafoam in the gas storage container.
Thanks for the vid! Great tutorial, mine wouldn't start and was leaking gas from the air filter area. took the carburetor apart like he did in the video and put it back together, although i didn't notice anything dirty in mine i followed what he did and now it starts and doesn't leak gas.

my friend thank you very much for your help and really help me after I did the same thing that you did my pressure washer back on track. I was very Worry.
Jeff, I have tried to get the dang nozzle out.. brass fittings .. but it will not budge, It like its seized in the throat body. its like the head of my screw drivers slip and will not turn it. other than that. Great video. Thanks for the help.

Jeff, great job on the video. I have this same model from Costco still in box from 4 years ago. Will be setting it up soon. After use before storing, Should I drain the bowl at bottom of Carb. by removing the Philips screw? Seems logical if storing for up to a year.

well all I can say is try and use one with the least "slop". make sure it fits tight in the brass groove ., otherwise it can strip while taking it out if it is really stuck
Ours was used once and it seemed to run properly. Less than a year later, it started and ran for about 30 seconds before it died and now I can't even pull start it because it feels like the engine has seized? Costco is over an hour away, and I don't know if they'll even take it back. Very disappointed right now. Great video, but I think my problem is much more serious.... Thanks and Blessings!!!
Hi Jeff just wondering where I could find the fuel line from the tank to shut off valve the part is discontinued and is not in stock anywhere what do I do
Where do I get a solenoid for this pressure washer? When i bypass the solenoid with the battery power to the starter right away it starts, but with the connections made to the solenoid it doesn't, so i am expecting the solenoid is faculty

I was about to return this unit at Costco, thanks to your video I was able to start my PW.
Many thanks. If not for your video I would have taken it back under warranty. I used non ethanol gas with stabilizer and even ran the tank dry before storing for 8months and it still wouldn't stay running. Followed you instructions and it works like new now.
Great vid. Right on diagnosis ant fix. I found it just as easy to pulling the carb. Thanks

Awesome, did this and now it works! after Hours breaking my head figuiring out what it was! Thanks!
Thank you for the detailed video! Worked like magic and pw runs great again.
Good job! Thanks for watching
Worked like a charm! Thank you Jeff for making such a concise and informative video.

Thank you Jeff. Your video was very helpful to me, I fixed my pressure thanks to you
It worked! Saved me some dollars. It took me 30 minutes. Not hard at all. Thanks!
Thanks so much for a fantastic tutorial! Your steps worked like a charm, and the copper wire technique to clean those tiny jets was brilliant.
Thanks for posting this Jeff. The exact same thing is what ailed my Subaru pressure washer. Cleaning those jets took care of it.
You helped me fix mine in fifteen minutes.
NICE WORK!

I just bought one of these that was used a couple times and sat for 2 years, so I think this video is going to come in handy this spring.

Hey thanks for the information I’ve only used mine 3 times last year and this year it won’t start brand new purchase last year

Great tutorial... Great camera work and explanations.... You are a true PRO
Thanks friend! That is a nice thing to say.
have had this exact pressure washer for years always starts, and runs perfectly. remember to turn gas off and let it run until it dies prior to storage. Use alcohol free gas always and a little seafoam in the gas storage container.
Forgot to shut the fuel off on mine when I put it away last fall, now its doin the same thing. I'll give it a try.
GREAT VIDEO! EXACTLY what I needed to see! THANK YOU!!
Awesome Help! Thank You!
Bro...thanks for the video! After cleaning that piece, one pull and it cranked right over!
Thanks , I'm going to try it
you can do it
Thank you 🙏 great vide you have solved my problem. Appreciate
awesome!
Great video. Saved me a bunch of time and $. Was a super easy fix. Took me
Thanks for the vid! Great tutorial, mine wouldn't start and was leaking gas from the air filter area. took the carburetor apart like he did in the video and put it back together, although i didn't notice anything dirty in mine i followed what he did and now it starts and doesn't leak gas.
Your float valve was stuck. The white plastic piece that hangs down when you remove the bowl.
Great video,thanks
Definitely did the trick!! 👏👏👏👏
Great job!
Coool !! Good explanation , not just a "hm bla ah bla well bla oh bla hm"
Thanks Jeff! By watching your video, I was able to get my Troy-Bilt 2550 PSI/2.3 GPM 675 series (190cc) pressure washer running like new again. This model's main jet doesn't screw out, but I ran some wire up there to clean it out and soaked the entire carburetor in Seafoam. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this.
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
my friend thank you very much for your help and really help me after I did the same thing that you did my pressure washer back on track. I was very Worry.
Appreciate the video... couldn't get my PowerStroke pressure washer to start and now it runs like new!
Exellent video thank you
Fixed mine today. Thanks for your help.
Thank you and much Blessings 😊
Thanks friend!
great job!
Thanks friend!
thanks for the help.
Jeff, I have tried to get the dang nozzle out.. brass fittings .. but it will not budge, It like its seized in the throat body. its like the head of my screw drivers slip and will not turn it. other than that. Great video. Thanks for the help.
Great video!
QUESTION: Anyone know the part #/name of the white plastic gas floater inside the carburetor? Can't find in the parts manual. Could be I need to purchase the entire carburetor? Thanks for any info.
It is called a carburetor float. Some not so common engines like this Subaru, you may need to buy the entire carburetor.
Tenks.desde Tlaxcala México 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey, is that a regular small flat head or a special tool, where can I I find it
I have the same one someone gave me that wouldnt run at all, took the OHC cover off yesterday an seen that the #1 valve was completely stuck.
General question. What would best suit the purpose of replacing the motor. I have the pump. But id like to know if. A vertical lawnmower engine would get it done? Thanks
yes they work good as long as you have a vertical style pump to go on it.
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Jeff, great job on the video. I have this same model from Costco still in box from 4 years ago. Will be setting it up soon. After use before storing, Should I drain the bowl at bottom of Carb. by removing the Philips screw? Seems logical if storing for up to a year.
yes that can help
I have the same costco subaru model.. It seems to be a really twitchy setup. Always has been right from the start.
Cleaning the carb and disassembling as much as possible had it working again, and not leaking gas from the bowl, but it only runs with the choke on too.
On mine, it won't allow me to release the main jet. It feels entirely fused..
Even with a well fitting screwdriver, it's only gouging the brass and not turning.
Replacement carbs that reference to that engine don't use the same choke setup that the costco build has.. I'm hoping the stems can be transferred over, or the choke isn't going to function.
No idea why that main jet is so fried and stuck? It's been the least hard wearing engined tool I've ever owned.
Always found myself hating auto chokes, but, here I am with this one being somewhat manual, albeit either on or off, only to have it be the biggest pain in the ass.
What do you mean by “any screw driver if it’s the right shape”? What is the right shape?
well all I can say is try and use one with the least "slop". make sure it fits tight in the brass groove ., otherwise it can strip while taking it out if it is really stuck
Thanks and Blessings!!!
if the carburetor flooded gas into the engine, it may be hydrolocked.
Thank you for the video. If I need to replace the carb. On the Subaru 2700 PW, can a Honda GCV 160 carb replace that. They look almost identical.
Good question, I am not sure. If it looks similar and mounts up the same, give it a try!
Loved your video but I can not get the first screw out tried everything. I am afraid of ruining the screw because it is brass. Any ideas!
Hi Jeff just wondering where I could find the fuel line from the tank to shut off valve the part is discontinued and is not in stock anywhere what do I do
finding that part suxmy friend
Is that a Subaru engine? Good fix Jeff.
yep, Subaru/Robin I think. Thanks!
Will the pull start work even if the battery is dead?
Yes
