    Great collection. Thanks for covering glam metal. I'm familiar with most of those bands and have many of those CDs, but didn't know about some of them. Saints & Sinners is one of my favorites, the song Frankenstein rocks! Glad you had Shotgun Messiah in there, one of my favorite bands. The early 90's was so good. You've got some really obscure stuff there.

    I used to collect CD’s from the age 12 to 36 I bought around 5000 albums it started to become more difficult to purchase them due to the price increase and most of all the record stores disappearing all over my tri-state area, I still have all the cds and records I bought but they just sit in the closet collecting dust sadly I gave in to the pressure and convenience of streaming platforms and they are useful for now, but I have a feeling they won’t last forever and when their gone I’ll still have my closet full of memories of my attempt to own every hard rock/heavy metal album that ever existed, I was the guy that had everything till I found your vault on UA-cam. How have you continued to afford this it seems impossible unless you’re extremely wealthy.

    5:48 I got a lot of these when my college radio station had their yearly sale where they would sell all the CD's they didn't want (after they've been picked through) they were only $1 apiece and I grabbed everything that looked metal. a few of these I got from seeing videos on headbanger's ball. unfortunately, we only had one metal radio station on Long Island which was 1480 AM Z-Rock and it barely came in clear depending on the weather.

      Man I so miss Headbangers Ball…the original classic one. I know they have brought it back a number of time but it’s nowhere near as good as the original. That was my favorite show to watch and get info on all these great bands.

      Yeah i am glad that I had a couple cool rock stations growing up. But not today, I don’t like the format of most radio stations and now that they’re playing 80’s rock and glam metal as Classic Rock, that doesn’t work for me. It was fun while it lasted! 😂😂😂

Did 2 or 3 albums, Debut and night of the crimes. Love this band. Also im a huge fan of Shy. Brave the storm, excess all areas etc, Tony Mills. Great vocals! Thanks again. Great show. Very interesting selection, i know a fair amount of the bands you referenced. I wouldn't class Thunder as glam rock though, they are what i would consider as a hard rock band. Saw them twice & they are straight ahead rockers, no big hair or flamboyant peacocking just no nonsense hard rock. I eagerly await your favourite year album & your weekly pick ups, keep em coming.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  3 роки тому

      Here in the states they were classified as Glam Metal when the debut was released. I realize they may have grown out of that moniker like Def Leppard and Motley Crue, but I still found the band when they were considered Glam so they will forever be Glam to me.

    • @joet6434
      @joet6434 3 роки тому

      @@BrendonSnyder Perhaps. i would never put Thunder in with the likes of Def Leppard or Motley Crue, the sound, approach, song writing & look sets them apart in my book but maybe US terms for glam differ from here in the UK. In this case agree to disagree is the more diplomatic approach, good video though, look forward to your next catch all box.

    You hit on a time period of music that IMO doesn't get the attention it should. The early to mid-90s...91 to about 95. Some really incredible music was being released in that sliver of time. Obviously, there's the Grunge stuff, but also bands like Life, Sex, and Death, My Sister's Machine, FNM "Angel Dust", Helmet "Meantime", Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Jellyfish, Sugartooth, Prong "Prove You Wrong"...so many I could keep listing. I've always loved that period of music. Things were kind of in a tailspin and it seemed like anything and everything was fair game.

    Holy sh!t...what a great surprise to get this AM! Now, THIS is the glam metal "hidden gems" video that I've been waiting for! Already have quite a few of these CDs in my collection. But I'll be re-watching, pausing and writing down others. Juliet, Jagged Edge UK, Saints & Sinners and Roxy Blue are all pretty tuff to find, but definitely worth hunting down. There's a Roxy Blue song "Nobody Knows" (off 'Get Some') that I'd put right up there with the very best power ballads of the era. It kinda has a Tesla feel to it...really excellent. Next on my video wish list is the AOR box! And I see that Joe Lynn Turner CD on the shelf behind you. Guessing that may show up in a what's that you're listening to video. Can't wait. Keep up the great work, Brendon!

They made a darker more alternative-ish album called 'Helpyourselfish' after 'Riskin' It All' which is also very good. I know some of the other bands too but not as well as D-A-D. I have that Jagged Edge album too. There are some pretty cool songs on that album. I bought it back in the day because one of the members also played on Bruce Dickinson's first solo album.
