I seriously hope they do this for The Wall 50th anniversary
i would buy the Wall version
yeah it'd be great to get an extra disc or some singles with all the cut songs
yeah and rip us off once again with the absurd pricing.
@@xsm5525 There is nothing more ridiculous in the world than complaining about the money that people spend on the things that interest them.
@@adriansepulvedaz agree!! luckily I haven't come across anyone who's done that.
I bought the original album back in the ‘70’s and still listen to it. I’m good.
Fkn laughed out loud. Woke the dog! A massively underated comment, sir.
Agree 1000%. The music is all that really matters. For memories of those first weeks of hearing it, I've still got a mono [ kids, that's monaural, from before stereo] 1/8" cassette tape of it I bootlegged off a mate's LP until I could afford the album from pocket money!
@@thedolphin5428 then bought the 8 track? LOL
@@kevind8752
Nah. Never owned a single 8 track. A horrible medium, imo.
@@thedolphin5428 agree but I had a portable one in my car. In what other medium would a song switch tracks mid way through?😂
@@kevind8752
Lol. And what other mechanism that a car cassette player could chew up a fkn tape quicker.
I’m from the US and this is one of the best unboxing videos of Pink Floyd’s 50th box set I’ve seen!
Now a new subscriber.
Thanks for this video!
The pricing on this is crazy, the Blondie box set has 10 albums, a 10 inch, a 7 inch and 2 books, same price.
Binging on Dark Side videos the last few weeks.
Wish I could be around for the 100th anniversary.
So would I, can't imagine what some of these box sets would look like for the centennial anniversary !
Gracias!
Got the album when I was 14, not long after it came out. Still playing it today, or at least the 2016 remaster which I also have. My original (probably 2nd or 3rd repress reissue way back then) still comes out every so often and sounds just as good. Incidentally, I also have the 1994 digital version on CD. That also sounds very good and very rich and clear.
Over the years I laughed at the silly suggestions that Wizard of Oz was somehow linked to this album. I also laughed at people who said that this album could only be properly appreciated while under the influence of certain substances. Yeah, right 🙄
Very cool indeed my dad has 1973 original version of Dark Side of The Moon. I have at least 2 CD versions of it and vinly I got at your shop last year. This does look great am guessing not going to cheap. Very good un boxing video here. 👍👍🎸🎸
glad i bought mine the week it came out ...march 1973...at the Forest Record store on wayne ave.....$2.97....still listen to this beautiful Harvest issue recording
April 7 1973 I purchased two albums of Dark Side of the Moon for a mere pittance $5.89 each. At 64 in June 23, I'm buying this for nostalgia. This time I'm putting it in a secure vault. Repeating the mistakes of youth would not be wise. Sure should have kept those albums safe! My grandson will inherit this.
Pink Floyd are my heroes ‼️
As has been said before, a nice looking item but far too expensive for me. I bought the Immersion edition when that came out and that gives me what I need without desiring this new version. Unless we get more releases during the year I think they’ve missed an opportunity here for something that the fans would really want to buy. The Alan Parsons mix on a stand alone LP would be a great item and maybe the ‘official’ release of some cleaned up audience recordings/bootlegs of DSOTM on vinyl. I have that Kohoutek vinyl bootleg along with a few other early DSOTM bootlegs but a release from Floyd of a handful of those would be something I’d love to own.
You made allusion of the Alan Parsons mix do you mean the quadrophonic one ?
@@francoisrochette3808 yes that’s the one. It’d be really good to have that as a stand alone release, rather than only available on boxsets. It does sound SO good it deserves a release. It sounds great even on non-quad systems.
I agree. I have the immersion version too and it has enough material...even more than this version actually. It has the live '74, it has rarities, demos, an early mix, early versions of the songs, songs that were left out, 5.1, quad...this version not worth the price for me
Nice unboxing and content. I liked that you gave the music notation a go too :) thumbs up. Shame I missed that rear PF record!
The poster of the clocks is a frame form the original animation played in the background when on tour. The live cover is not a mockup as much as a recreation of the original production artwork. he cover was done mostly at the printer following the guides and placement shown on the original paste up board. It was the work of film negatives and film screen combinations. With computers doing the output work these days, not many people understand how some commercial artwork was produced back in the day.
A wicked unboxing cheers man!
Can’t wait to get mine, thanks for the video! Great stuff!
I'm sure you wont be disappointed!
VERY BIG FAN OF PINK FLOYD IT LOOKS VERY PUT TOGETHER NOW I AM JUST ON THE WAY TO BYE THE DARK SIDE 50Th ANNIVERSARY BOX SET NOW THANK YOU I LOVE YOUR JUMPER BY THE WAY
The vinyl and posters take me back😄😄
3:41 Wizard of Oz band intentions is a myth😂
Pretty sure he was joking…
This is the first vinyl i ever bought and it was a gift for a friend of mine who collects vinyls and is a big floyd fan too
For the prices, it ought to be called The Dark Side of the Music Industry.
Someone is laughing the whole way to the Bank..
Amazing!
For what it offers the box is not worth its sale price.
Not even close. I'd pay £100 max.
Wish they would’ve just sold the vinyl separately,
Just Both singles, remaster and live album in one box set for like $70 perfect
But it stinks, man... 50th anniversary and an album like Dark Side of the Moon and you get like 3 times the sams studio album, 3 times samd live album, a book and that's it... Kinda lame, dissapointing
I kinda wanna count it out to see how much it would cost.
LP Dsotm 40$
LP Live 40$
2 45s 20$
DVD 20$
Blue ray 20$
Atmos 20$
Studio cd 10$
Live cd 10$
Song book 20$
Small book 10$
About 210
In 10 years, it’s gonna be worth 10 times as much, you guys know nothing about investments
I ll wait for the WATERS version in two months...
I saw and heard Dark Side of the Moon at the Hansen Planetarium in Laser Rock when it first premiered in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was in high school, with five friends and we're all on LSD. It was incredible. I did see The Wall tour at Red Rocks, Colorado. Only time I got to see the classic line up minus Syd.
The only way to see them!
I'm so glad I bought this beautiful collectible piece. I wish I had bought two copies.
I’m glad you saved $600
@@waifusupreme2.018 Why? What is money for if not to buy things?
What do you mean you “wished you had bought two copies”? Even the most casual of Pink Floyd fans should buy at least eight copies of this bona fide masterpiece. One for each room in the house.
@@markcusack6335 one to open and one to keep sealed was my theory
@@Sean-me4fv LOL, I understand; I do that with almost everything collectible that I buy; to keep one pristine. I still haven't opened the 50th Anniversary Sgt Peppers. I don't think I'll open either one, I have the original 50 year old LP's along with my 50+ year old rig: Marantz / Thorens / Bose 901 which would make these new versions sound great. Today it's just easier to stream everything.
I love your sweater, reminds me of what Damon Albarn was wearing in the Beetlebum video!!!
Great unbox video
Graduated in 1973, "Time" is our class song....Still have my original first release L.P
Hi Tasty Records, thank you for a good review, I think that your enthusiasm for this box set was very well articulated and conveyed (thank you for that), my enthusiasm however is not on the same page as yours. I have at home 5 copies of Dark Side of The Moon, these comprise of a cassette which I bought back in 1986-87 when I was only 14 years old, the twentieth anniversary edition on CD, the Immersion Box Set, the Discography Box set version, and the Sapporo - Live in Japan version (the latter being excruciating to listen to). I think in your review you might have told the viewer of the price of the set and how you would give an estimated value in 5, 10, 15, 20 years time if in good condition. I actually think Gilmour and Co. should have released the box sets as a limited edition on release for a certain time only, additionally, the first x amount of sets would have signatures (time dated as Richard Wright is no longer with us, respectively) inside. What has been included in this box set is not enough for me to justify £200+ quid, for me it has to be an investment. "Oh by the way"- (no pun intended), I did not open up the Immersion Box Set and have left it sealed. I am a super fan of Pink Floyd, but some of the merchandising of late really feels like I am being taken for a bit of mug and to put it in Floyd speak, its leaving me "uncomfortably numb".
DVD is the 5.1 Surround cd which is awesome!
Is it fifty years ago wow. I remember it well at the time you either loved it or hated it.
50 years have got behind me since I first heard it
Am sure I mentioned this back in 2017 going to The Victoria and Albert museum to go round the truly amazing Pink Floyd exhibition. You could mix tracks from Dark Side of The Moon. 🎸🎸👍👍
Do you get anything different in this box set?
awesome bro
🌈△This is worth it, but the LP record you owned 50 years ago has more memories. Please take good care of it.
It's the Pink Floyd version of Marry Poppins bag !!
I was 15 when this came out! Still listening to it and still smoking weed since summer of 71🇨🇦😊
I winder if the DVD & Blue Ray is region locked?
You’re a legend for demonstrating the sheet music booklet 🤘
Cheers Connor, I would have stretched my legs on the Time guitar solo but didnt want to show off ;)
Pretty cool, I know I won't be able to buy this one. 😢
All I want is the bluray and atmos disc. With this cost of living I couldn't afford the box set.
A stand alone blu ray would be much appreciated.
@@Robert-tr7we I caved in and bought it.
@@tuborice4571 it is a great set, enjoy it 👍🏻
@Robert I will. Just hope it's a better pressing than the Animals 2018 remix I'm on the 4th record still sounds trash with the crackles and pops
the atmos version is something else. I think it's also remixed too, theres definitely new effects and the instruments are mixed different. also the transitions are slightly different, better imo
Great review. The music book should have included tab.
Thanks and great job! Does it say who supplied the pictures and were these in the earlier anniversary issue? Super thanks!
The pictures were provided by a photographer who toured with the band long enough for them to be relaxed and natural while she was around. I’ve seen another video where she’s interviewed about her photography.
Thanks for sharing this video, it would have been nice if they'd included some demos and or studio rehearsal with mistakes ornhownthe songs came to light from scratch, andnalso would have been nice to add the original version LP with the blue original prism on the LP.
Very nice.
Thank you
How many versions do they intend on releasing ?
Great review , wonderful to see you so passionate.
I bought the set too , a nice art statement , take care.
Cheers Damien from Australia.
Thanks Damien!
@@tastyrecordsuk No worries cheers to England , The old Country.
🌞🌅
Much prefer marbles, scarfe, and coaster in immersion set
A nice video review of the box set.
Worth it for the Atmos physical disc and the new 2023 remastered vinyl.
Not heard the atmos, I dont have the systm for it but would love to!
No it’s not. The greedy bastards just need to sell the Atmos disc separately.
@@donsimpsonshead8809 well they don’t. That makes it worth it to me.
Great unboxing 👍 for me I'll just be getting the stand alone live album.
I have the first press solid triangle,
The Japanese pro- use and several other pressures of the album so not for me..
🙏
Watching from Ireland
Thanks Jim!
I was hoping you would have shown us the stickers. I hear one of them is new artwork.
Good video
The picture of Gilmour backstage is with a Conn Strobe Tuner, not an amp. Thought you might like to know.
Fantastic & fascinating unboxing video Tasty Records, and thanks for sharing. So I'm just wondering if you could clear up what I believe to be the truth - but as an independent Record Store - then maybe you might be able to be more factual. But as I am old enough to own the original LP (unfortunately, not with that blue label - I checked straight away ; ). But on the song US & THEM on that original LP, there is the opening Sax Solo that has one extra line/run on the Record. Yet it seems in every remaster since then, I have never found a version that has that last run just before the singing starts. On all the remasters including this one, that last run before the vocals is always missing - and I always wondered if it was damaged on the original tapes, so is now therefore unusable?
I wonder if that Octopus LP is the original UK swirl gatefold issue?
So I think you buy 2 .
One you never touch the other you enjoy.
A really good video! Enjoyed it. I got my box today. Too much box with meager content. They could have included the AP early mix and some demos.
Thanks! Would have been good to have more demos and outtakes but I saw it as more of an artistic box set than a tell all story
Great video thanks
Thanks Tony nice of you to say so!
I’d use the regular DVD, because, while I have 2 BluRay players and a PlayStation, I don’t have any of them hooked-up, lol. At least they didn’t include a VHS or 8-track, 😛
as someone who will not be able to buy this… i need all those photographs scanned and in my possession NOW
It's a nice book, I think it might even be available separately from the box!
I bought two of these at a local record shop. One will stay unboxed for now but the other one is now opened and I did my own unboxing of it in synch with your video. Well done on this video!
Certainly a good investment!
It was strictly one per customer.
What kind of vinyl and master used for the LP?
No sure to be honest, if it were original tapes I think they would have made more of a hype about it
Careful with that poster,
Eugene!!!
Good one! *Roger Waters Scream*
Thanks for the detailed video. The drama of it all is that you can sell people a well-known album over and over again in countless remasters, digital copies and box sets. Other artists then have to wait for their works to be pressed and finished. Waste of resources par excellence. By the way, I don't need an album in 1001 versions. This applies to all bands and artists who do this. Music should be heard above all....
Question..what is on the DVD? Live dark side tour? Whole show?
It is simply audio only as far as I understand
Спасибо, бро!
7:43 Lovely Frank Zappa.
I’m wondering if I should cop this, would the price go down or up as time goes by
Usually goes up
Much as I love DSOTM, I cannot abide Pink Floyd box sets. Pulse and Delicate Sounds Of Thunder blu rays are just picture books. Not taking away from the amazing concert but, bonus wise, sorely lacking. Even the book shown is underwhelming to me. I'm sure beyond a doubt it sounds amazing.
I also ADORE Us And Them:Symphonic Pink Floyd by Youth and Jaz Coleman. Incredible album encompassing DOSTM and Wall songs. Nice shout out to Wizard Of Oz. Having a dvd of that would have been a sweet bonus.
I do concur that an atmos and blu ray combined blu ray would have been much better. Nice booklet after the sheet music.
Epic points for the sheet music book, however.
My first impression is that the album is really none more black, It's like a black mirror.
Super présentation 😊 une traduction en français aurait été la bienvenue !! MAGNIFIQUE !!
I’m personally not buying this release. On top of it being far too expensive, I find it absolutely irritating that they aren’t releasing the 2023 remaster individually except on Digital. People will say what the point is since most of us already own the album in one form or another, but releasing the 2023 remaster individually will allow people who don’t yet own the album to get the album in its latest form if they can’t afford the absurd amount they’re asking for it. I could see this going for $150, give over $300? No thank you. I’m thankful you can get the Wembley cd individually though.
Agree, one would hope they could release it at a later date.
@@petercena9497 They will. They've been doing it with all these box sets lately.
At 8:00 David's tuning his guitar, that's a strobe tuner not a amp
My OCD going nutz watching not fold stuff right or put things back the way the wrre stored. Unboxing hell.
when they ask me what happiness looks like
Thanks Ash!
The songbook is actually the guitar tablature of Dark Side of the Moon.
I wasn't able to look very closely, but the songbook seems to be lacking just that, the guitar tablature. It does contain the sheet music written in regular staff notation. It would be nice if someone would clear up whether there is both staff notation and tablature in the book.
How many cost ?

Someone already pointed out the tuner (not an amp) at 7:50.Clearly Dave is tuning his guitar in the picture. I will also note that that's not Richard Nixon at 9:21. I can't tell who it is, but unless the way the top of the picture is cut off completely distorts the face, it's not Nixon.
I have the 1973 LP album with the blue label. Is it worth something?
Just a bit!
Where did u buy dat sweater bro??

The Cost Dosn't Justify Contents. Its Waay too expensive. There's not enough, stuff in there, just a lot of carboard!
You could of just brought a doorstop for £2 but that works just as well.
The most expensive guitar ever sold is now Kurt Cobain's Jaguar. The same buyer for the black strat paid 4.55M$ for it.
its not his Jaguar, its his acoustic guitar with electric pickup - ~6M$.
Did they remaster it or is it the same version that Sony put out before? I'm debating whether to get it. I'm not overly interested in the extras; I just want to know if I should save money and get the one Sony has out now instead.
It's the 2011 remaster, don't buy it, it's definitely not worth the price. Buy the immersion boxset instead: its price is way lower and there is a lot more stuff
As far as I understand it is a new remaster that sounds different to the 2016 vinyl version
It's a newly reamastered version.
Kurts Martin D and his Mustang are the most expensive guitars sold, then its David Gilmours.
how much?
Think most expensive guitar sold might be Kurt Cobain accustic with electric pick up. Thanks for posting.
I have the gold copy of the CD. But I think this cost way too much
I wish you had just unpacked and laid out the major components first (on a bigger table), and then gone through each in detail.
The web site for the album is invalid.😢😮
Sorry it has sold i'm afraid!
Prism!
Get on with it!!!!!
Too long got bored with the book info...
There's no PF without RWaters.
What no cassette version ? 😉
I've still got one!. It's a mono copy from a mates original album!
no way that's one of the best albums of all time. Animals and Wish You Were Here are probably their best work. I think people are just infatuated with that album cover for some reason. Im not saying the album sucks, but I dont find it very impressive either.
