How to Share UA-cam TV with Friends and Family - UA-cam TV Family Sharing Instructions

I've been enjoying UA-cam TV since 2018 and despite some price increases I still think it's so much better than cable. Along with being able to watch local channels live and having an unlimited DVR to record programs, UA-cam TV does allow subscribers to share the streaming service with up to 5 additional users. That way your family can watch UA-cam TV with only one subscription.
However, there are a couple of limitations plus benefits which I'll explain later. If you're subscribed to UA-cam TV, here's how to share your account with friends and family. Sign into your account on a web browser like Chrome or Firefox. Click on the icon image at the top right of the screen and then click on Settings. On the popup menu click on Family Sharing. Then click on Manage.
On the Account Management screen I can see my profile as well as one other person I've already shared my account with. But if I want to share UA-cam TV with another person I'll click on the button that says Invite Family Member. And you'll notice it'll also show me how many invitations I have left. On the next screen, I'll type in an email address of the person I want to share my account with. And just so you know, the person I'm sharing with has to have a Gmail account. That is a definite requirement. Click on the confirmed email address in the search results box. Then click Send. In this video I sent the invitation to myself. And when I exit out I can see the pending invitation and the expiration date.
In the invitation email Google sends out, the recipient just has to click on Accept Invitation and then sign into UA-cam TV on any computer, phone, smart TV or any other streaming device. It's pretty simple to do.
Before ending the video, here's some additional information I think you might find useful. So if I sent an invitation by mistake I can also cancel it by selecting the pending invite in my dashboard. I then just have to click on Cancel Invitation. But if someone is already a member of my account, I can easily remove them. To remove a person on my UA-cam TV account, click on a confirmed member's icon. Then click on remove member and that person will no longer be able to watch UA-cam TV under my account.
The management of users is important because of the limitations I mentioned earlier. Even though UA-cam TV allows you and 5 other people access in one account, only a total of 3 people or devices can stream UA-cam TV at any one time. Also the people you share UA-cam TV with need to live in your home area. If the person you shared your account with lives outside your state or region they will eventually lose access in about 3 months because of the location restrictions. There is a way around this which I've outlined in another video on my channel.
UA-cam TV sharing is a great feature they built into the service. And what's even better is that each person you share your account with has their own independent DVR and viewing history. That way, everyone's accounts won't be cluttered with program suggestions, history and unwanted recorded shows from other members. Sorry for the late response. Just saw your question! I don’t have a Fire TV but if it has the UA-cam TV app on it or the ability to download it then that person can sign in and watch UA-cam TV on their Fire TV. Anywhere you can install the UA-cam TV app is where you can watch it. I own an LG TV and installed the app there and signed in to watch. A friend I shared my account with did that also on their TV. When you add 4K to get unlimited screens at home does the family member you’re sharing with get unlimited screens or just 1?
Hmmm! That’s a good question! I’m not subscribed to the 4K service but in my mind I think the 4K ability would be available to all your shared family members. Mainly because it seems everything else is also shared with family as well. If you do get 4K please update me just so I’ll know if it can be shared! Thanks for watching!
Great explanation. Much appreciated. I sure wish they'd let 5 users on at a time, it's hard to 'share' with more than 3 because 4 and 5 will not be able to watch if 1, 2 and 3 are on. What happens when 3 are watching? What message pops up? or does someone get bumped off? I love the separate libraries/sign-ons. I didn't know too that they all needed gmails. Again, great info!

I’m unsure whether you can add family members during the free trial. It couldn’t hurt to try. If it doesn’t work you just have to wait a couple of weeks until your billing starts. I signed up quite awhile ago and it wasn’t until 2 years into my subscription when I added my first family member. Sorry I’m not more help! Thanks for watching!
Would the same "home area" constitute two different ZIP Codes that are about 40 minutes apart in southeast Michigan for example?
I’m guessing in your situation that would still be in your home area. In the Seattle area there are many zip codes and I would still be in my home area in all of the cities around here.
I've got an 80 year old family member who wants to ditch Xfinity cable Internet and xfinity TV service, but I think he's concerned UA-camTV's UI and channel guide will be confusing. he's probably mistakenly thinking he will have to open an app for every channel he wants to watch. I don't think he will like not having channel numbers but once he gets inside the app and doesn't have to leave, he will like the experience other than having to use an AppleTV remote until we can get him a smart TV with a comfortable remote for controlling apps.

What Username and Password do you use to access the family plan? The managers UA-cam username and password? I don't know that most managers want to share access to their Gmail account. This is the one question it seems no one has an answer to. I appreciate your help.
When you share your UA-cam TV account, you send an invite to another person that has a Gmail account. The person who receives the invite will log into UA-cam TV with their Gmail email address and their own password. The UA-cam TV account owner does not have to share their password. Hope this helps!

I have three people In MY Family group, who use youtube tv at different times of the day, how do you switch accounts from one to the other account members without having the tv ask you to input a code in a browser. The same happens if I use a Firefox device. when I log out of the device, the group shows but when I select a new member it states the browser code logging again which is a pain. how can I set it up to switch accounts on my LG or Fire Stick by pressing the new family group member after I log out? I'm the admin manager. Can't find a video on how Family groups can switch accounts on a commonly used TV (New LG) / Firestick device etc. They can get to the service on their separate computers, phones, and pads. if I can't make it easier my wife will want to go back to cable. any suggestions or videos old or new?
How do you add TV's in your House, like a CHILD'S, who doesn't have a device ?
If your child has a smart TV you can usually download the UA-cam TV app and run it on the TV. That’s what I do. But the app is also available on Xbox and probably PlayStation (I don’t own one so I can’t check). Streaming devices like Roku, Chromecast and Apple TV will have the UA-cam TV app. Hopefully I’m answering your question!

As a novice considering, could I share one family account for three different zip codes? One for pri home, once for sec home and one for kid in college? Understand you can't stream more than three devices at once.
Yes! You can share UA-cam TV with family outside your primary zip code. But Google has built in measures that only allow it to work for about 3 months. However I do have a way to get around this and currently share UA-cam TV with someone in another state and have kept it working on a long term basis. I live in Indiana and closer to Indianapolis than Cincinnati yet UA-camTV keeps wanting to put me in the Cincinnati watch area. Why?
One of my shared accounts is experiencing the same. They are not getting their nearby local channels. Instead they’re getting the network channels from a different metropolitan market in their state. There is a setting on the tv app and also UA-cam TV website where you can set your location. There’s no need for me to try this because mine gets the correct channels. But just be aware that you can only change your location twice in a year.

So my sister lives in another state, I added her to my account and it worked fine, but, she doesn’t use it a lot and when see went to use it it said she was out of the area. Do I have to delete and add her again? And do you have to use it a lot so it doesn’t say she’s out of the area?
Thanks for your question! What your sister is experiencing is UA-cam TV’s location restrictions. If the person you’re sharing with is another region/state they will only be able to have access for 3 months. At that point they will need to check in at your home area. This is not a problem and I have a solution for you that works. I also share my account with another person in another state and can keep getting them access. Yes! The family member you added can sign into UA-cam TV on as many TVs/devices as they like. You or any others can do the same. Just sign into UA-cam TV on every device you/they want. But the main thing you need to know is that with your account you can stream on up to 3 devices simultaneously. That’s the main restriction. Hope this helps!

When we send the family share invitation and the person receiving it says after the click on the invitation it says it costs $64.50/mo. Is that right?? I thought it would be free for family sharing...they have a Gmail account so that's not the issue.

I am sharing my UA-camTv membership with my sister who is in the same State but different zip code, all of a sudden she cannot get in to UA-camTv, she is on my family Share group but she keeps getting a message saying something about "home area" this has worked for her for a year not sure why all of a sudden she cannot log in? What can she do to get logged back in? Does she need to come to my home zip code, log in to youtubetv on her phone (using her log in or mine?) then go home and try to log in with the same credentials she logged in to in my zip code? Does the youtubeTV app on her TV read the last signed in at home zip code on her device then this will allow her to log in on her home tv? Does she use my log in or her gmail info?
My youtubetv membership doesn't allow any members to sign in. They get the message to either preview or sign up for 72.99. They live in same house
I assume you sent invitations to your members to their gmail addresses? Have they accepted the invitation? They need to accept the invitation in the email they were sent. I’m not sure if that’s the issue. I’ve heard others say their members can’t sign in either. So I’m not exactly sure what’s going on there.
I did the whole process twice. It showed on a screen that they were family members. I sent pics of the screens to youtube tv. They stopped responding to me. My husband couldn't even sign in even though he wad listed as a member..crazy situation. I gave up
Thank you for the share - I have a problem and I hope someone can help. I have accepted the invitation but I am unable to make my own profile. The Family Manager sees my invitation with an expiration date. When I go back to the initial email and click accept, it states 'Already in Family.' Which I am, only to my own google account with no UA-cam tv. Has anyone experience this?
Not sure what device you’re trying to watch on. If you want to watch on a computer web browser you need to go to tv.youtube.com and you can sign in there. On smartphones/tablets there’s the UA-cam TV app. Also on smart TVs you can download the app as well. If you have a Chromecast, UA-cam TV is already integrated into it. The main thing to know is that once you accept the invitation all you have to do is use your Gmail email/password to log in. Your guest account will behave like your very own UA-cam TV account except you’re not paying for it. Anything you watch when logged in with your Gmail account is saved into your history. Your DVR recordings are also yours only. It’s like you and the person who invited you have 2 separate UA-cam TV accounts. Hope this helps!
I had this similar issue. I made a family account I did my mom and set it up but when I went to login on a new TV and use her credentials it showed that the UA-cam TV subscription was not active all it did was make her own separate google account how can I merge the two?
@@dwheels0707 I found out I was on another family group and I could not join my sister's. Once I deleted the previous group, I was able to join. Make sure your mother's joins with your group (by sending invite)
So my brother has shared his account already with me and I had got it but I log into UA-cam tv it says I only have 20 min of full access then sign up but he already paying so why would I have too??

Yes! The account holder can share their UA-cam TV access with others outside the home. That is included with the service and you can share with up to 5 other people. They don’t necessarily have to have the same area code but they do have to be in the same region. They also also have to have their own Gmail address. One last thing… even though you can share with up to 5 people only 3 simultaneous streams can happen at one time. Hope this helps!

I signed up for UA-cam tv yesterday. I invited my husband & he accepted so now part of the same family group. When he logs in on his tablet, it keeps trying to get him to start his own free trial or pay. Why does it want him to sign up separately?
Sorry your husband is having issues with the shared account. I heard from at least one one other viewer that said the same thing. I’m not exactly sure why it’s asking him to sign up. I assume he got the invitation notice in his Gmail. I can’t remember the exact process but he might have to click on a button in the email to accept the invitation. Otherwise he’s not part of your family account yet. That’s the only thing I can think of right now. You can go into your family settings again and delete him and then add him again. Or it might allow you to resend the invitation. Hope this helps!
@@TheRenderQ we figured it out. I had to unshare & then reshape. Doing that generated new emails & it worked after that without my husband having to do anything

Yes! You can share UA-cam TV with people outside your home. You definitely won’t have location issues in your city. It may also be ok if it’s within your state. But there will definitely be location issues out of state. Last month I was on vacation on the east coast and when I launched the UA-cam TV app it immediately knew I wasn’t in my home area anymore. It was ok and I could still watch but the message said I had 3 months to check into my home area. After 3 months I wouldn’t be able to access UA-cam TV. Hope this helps!
When my Mom accepted the invite she tried to log into UA-cam TV but was asked for a free trial. Why is this and how do I get her a separate profile? Thanks for any help. I’m clueless.
Same issue here. I shared it w my husband so he could watch on his tablet. We confirmed were both in the same family group but it keeps trying to get him to pay for a membership or start his own free trial. Why?

Do the userS need to "login" (email/password) every time they watch UA-cam TV (on the TV set itself)?
When you share UA-cam TV, the people you share with only have to log in once. Then they’re good to use UA-cam TV unless they log out. This has been true on every device I have it installed on. That includes TVs, phones, tablets and computers. Hope this helps!

After you send the invite to your friend’s Gmail account they have to accept the invitation. It’s been awhile since I invited someone to use my account but I’m pretty sure they need to find the invitation in their Gmail. Then all they have to do is log into UA-cam TV with their Gmail address and password. They never use your email to log in. When it’s done successfully you and your friend will have completely separate DVR libraries and watch history. Hope this helps!

Yes for sure you can share UA-cam TV with your brother. If he lives in the same state he might not even run into the location restriction. You can invite up to 5 different people to share your account and they’ll each have their own login. That way everyone has separate DVR recordings and viewing history. Hope this helps!

my saved programs are now being saved to family member accounts also. When I delete it off their account it deletes it off my account also. Those use to be separate . help please
It sounds like your other accounts are using the same Gmail address. When that happens all devices using that Gmail account will have synchronized DVR recordings and watch history. Double check to make sure the people you’re sharing with are using their own Gmail address. Or at least signed in with a different address than yours. Can you go one extra step and show what the person who accpets the invitation and what they need to do after accepting the invitation?
I’m currently working on a video about the whole UA-cam TV sharing process. But when you invite a new member, they’ll receive an email from Google telling them you invited them to your account. On the email there’s a big button that says “Accept Invitation’. After they click on that button they’re accepted. From that point, all they have to do is go to UA-cam TV on a web browser, smartphone app, TV or other steaming device and sign in with their own Gmail address and password. To the new member, it will feel like their own account. It’s completely separate from yours. And you have the ability to remove them from you account at any time. The sharing is really nice with UA-cam TV. Hope this helps!

If you’re already a member maybe you accepted an invite to your brother’s account in the past? Have you tried to log into UA-cam TV using the email you believe is the one in his family group? If it’s not working maybe he can remove you an send a new invite to you? Hope you get it working!
So I did this and my wife accepted invite. But, when I go to change account on UA-cam tv on fire stick her profile doesn’t show? Why is that? Am I doing something wrong? Her account works on her phone and iPad but not on our TVs with fire sticks.
Is there another Google profile signed in on your Fire Stick? If yes sign out on that one and have your wife try to sign in. Hope you get it working!

No they will not need your Gmail/password after they accept the invite. They will only be using their own Gmail/password when they sign in to UA-cam TV.

Yes! You are correct! The person you sent the invite to will log into UA-cam TV with their own Google/Gmail account. They do not need your login information. When you send the invite they will receive an email where they will accept the invitation. They they set to log into UA-cam TV on the mobile app, smart tv, computer and other streaming devices using their Gmail address and password. Hope this helps!

I was trying to put a code in for my utube tv account. It said to contact support. Then call number. They said that I had to pay 199.oo for.6 months of utube tv.. I all ready paid for January so they subtract that sent me emai in their name to pay to a pay pal account. If I disagreed my service would terminate and the 64
Oo for January would go back in my account t. When I gave e permission they wanted card number. I said it's the same one you are gonna put my money back in. They hung up. I belive its a scam. If I'm wrong please explain
You never told me how to get it on another tv!
When you share your UA-cam TV account the shared user will just log into the UA-cam TV app with the gmail address they provided to you. They will also use the password associated with their gmail address. Today most smart TVs will have the UA-cam TV app available to download and install right on the tv. If they don’t have a smart tv they will have to use an external device like Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, etc. They can also get the app on Xbox, PlayStation and iPhone and Android devices. But on all of those devices they will sign in with their own Gmail address and password. Hope this helps.

Help. I have my wife all set up with her own smart tv. Then somehow she turned youtubetv and only got my tv watching guy library. I attempted numerous times to put the code in and got lucky and got it fixed. I went to youtube with her google acct and mirrored. It worked. I turned off and on the tv and grrrrrrrrrr, my account shows up. The gmail thing is a pain. Does she have to do it from her own cell phone?

How to use the cast casting
If a user has a show recorded, can another user in the same account access this show if they want to?
If another user is using your same email address and password then they will see your recorded programs and viewing history. If you shared your account the real way as shown in the video then they will have their own DVR and viewing history. Hope this helps!

The family members sign in with their own Gmail address and password! Everybody’s account is separate. That way each account has their own viewing history and DVR library.
@@TheRenderQ It would be nice to easily switch to another (or have an option for a combined) DVR. Hulu has a choice of users when the app is started, UA-cam TV needs this too.

I have UA-cam tv and I am the family manager I did family sharing and my roommate has his own profile on my account under his name so he has his own library and all of that but on his tv it won’t let him use his profile it just signs into mine. How do I put his profile on his tv? It’s working fine on his phone
Even if he signs out of your account and signs in with his Gmail address it doesn’t work? Might be an issue with the TV app. Is there an update for the UA-cam TV app on his TV? Or can the UA-cam TV app be deleted and reinstalled? Maybe you don’t have to go that far. On my app on my TV there’s a setting called Switch Account. Which leads me to believe that 2 or more UA-cam TV accounts can be saved at one time. See if you can find a setting like that on his tv.
@@TheRenderQ well it’s all under my account I just have him under the family sharing so he can use my UA-cam tv but have his own library and everything. Do family members have their own email and password they use? If so I didn’t know that and that’s probably the problem

So it sounds like you just logged your husband into your Roku TV? To add him to another TV or device just use the same email address and password you used on the first Roku TV. That way all his viewing history and DVR recordings will be available on both devices when he watches UA-cam TV. Hope thins helps!

The other day I was able too get on my brother's UA-cam TV account then within ten minutes it kicked me off and told me I needed to make an account. Very frustrating.
Ok so I'm a member but I have to sign into that family member's account. It doesn't let me use youtube tv on my own account. When I clicked share it keeps saying try again. But it never works can you help?

When you add a family member the recipient will know it came from you. But they will not have access to your Gmail account. The added family member will use their own Gmail address and password to access UA-cam TV. Your email address has no part in their login. You and the family member’s Gmail accounts remain separate. At no time do either of you have access to the other person’s login information. Hope this helps!

When you’re on the phone please download the UA-cam TV app to watch. Just sign in with your email and password and you’re set! Any family members that you share with will also need to download the app whether they’re on iPhone or Android. Hope this helps!

I’m not 100% sure about sharing UA-cam TV with someone in another country. Within the US I know it’s not a problem. There’s a free trial and you can test it out before you have to pay. Hope this helps!

One of my family members got dropped from youtube, so I went in and removed him, and re-invited him, but he can no longer access. Did I remove him too many times?
No, I don’t think you can remove/invite people too much on UA-cam TV. You actually don’t need to remove and re-invite them to give them access. If they’re part of your sharing group and they live away from your region you just have to sign into their UA-cam TV account at your home and watch a about 30 seconds of a show and then log back out. They should have access again after that. I’ve done it many times with the person I share my account with and they’re in another state. It’s always worked. Hopefully you guys get it working. Maybe they need to restart their device/computer and try it again after you’ve logged into their account in your home area.

Sorry you’re having issues! Just checking that you have UA-cam TV and not UA-cam Premium? Those are 2 completely different products. UA-cam TV is where you’ll find the live TV channels like you’d find on cable TV. Sounds like you were able to successfully send an invite for UA-cam TV. Now your wife just needs to log into the UA-cam TV app on a phone or mobile device with her Gmail account and password. She can also use a web browser and go to tv.youtube.com to sign in and watch on a computer. Hope you get it working!

If you send invites to others they won’t be able to access your UA-cam TV account. That’s because they use their own Gmail and password to access UA-cam TV. They will have their own separate recordings and watch history. And you can remove them anytime. Do not share your own Google login information with others. Hope this helps!

Yeah a Gmail account is definitely necessary. That’s because UA-cam TV is owned by Google. But it really is a great service! The unlimited DVR is one of the best features!

No! You log into your account and invite people to your UA-cam TV subscription. They will receive an email from Google where they will accept the invitation. From there they will log into UA-cam TV using their own gmail address and password. They will not have access to your account. Meaning they can’t make changes or access any of your other Google services. It’s like they practically have their own UA-cam TV account but you have control to take away their access at any time. At no time do they have access your billing info, Google docs, etc. Hope this helps!

Yes! If you remove a member from your UA-cam TV account you can add them back in later. Just send them another invite just like you’d normally do. Hope this helps!
