- Bojack Horseman's S02E08 intro scene, (inspired by Iñarritu's Birdman continuous take, perhaps?)

I do not own this material. - Фільми й анімація
I heard they got this on the first take.
enossified lol. that's a myth. every one knows that todd kept fucking up his lines and that this took 18 takes.
Actually they re-done this so many times Bojack got drunk from all the whiskey in his coffee and they had to film the rest of the episode on a next day
Also, Bojack had a huge hangover, that's why he was even more angry when he had to play anger and more sad when he had to play sadness.
Also, they had to remove all the soundtrack/jingles/music on set and add it later in post because Bojack couldn't act in a noizy environment. At least now it's not his fault that he got drunk.
Bagel Nigelberry You know, it would be rather funny if they actually came across a random drummer during that segment, told him to go practice somewhere else, and then he would leave, making the BGM cut out.
I like how Bojack adds alcohol to the coffee two separate times.
from two seperate flasks
First he drinks the coffee, the glass is empty, he pours the whiskey, he drinks it, the glass empty again, and then he fills it with whiskey again
I...didn't even realize that this was an homage to Birdman
That's kind of amazing
I haven't seen Birdman, are you sure this is an homage to Birdman specifically? A lot of famous films have done long continuous shots, including many that were made long before Birdman.
Lizardguy I love Birdman
8Rincewind it is. Birdman has a soundtrack made out of mostly percussion. And you should definitely watch it
@@8Rincewind
A. The entire film is made to look like one continuous shot
B. The soundtrack is a huge giveaway. Both this scene and the film uses mainly drums with improvisational tones as the soundtrack.
C. The way they follow the characters is very wavy and diverts focus from one character to the other, which is the same way the camera was done in Birdman.
D. Both are about washed up actors(if that means anything).
It’s a classic Sorkin Walk and Talk you plebs
Anyone else notice that she grabbed a cup of coffee and threw it in the trash thirty seconds later without even taking a sip?
+Spencer Marley Producers...
Kind of like how netflix picked up tuca and bertie before immediately canceling it
Haha no! Thanks for pointing that out
@V-Rex This is the reason why Bojack resents network executives.
That coma must of had some side effects...
"Mememememe, mymymymymy, bowowowowow, good boy."
GOOD boy
All of bojacks jackets have endless flasks.

That's the power of his Stand [OLD NUMBER 7]
You can hear a guy at the beginning say, "Can someone find the average rainfall in Bora Bora?"
Just noticed it after watching this episode 3 times. Planting seeds is what good writers do.
Maybe he should've studied Mora Mora
I just love the attention to detail in this scene, it would be so easy to just include the things that are happening in focus because it's animation. But they make so much effort to put in things in the background and making subtle jokes you might not even get on your first viewing. And I'm not just talking about this scene anymore - I'm talking about the show in general.
This episode was great. Loved at the end; “Elijah Wood.”
I wonder how they animate this magic
with love
And passion. And understanding that Actions have consequences, a predominant theme in this show that you will NEVER see in Spongebob Squarepants, Family Guy or.... any show along those lines.
A really well planed layout, 3D camera follow up in a really well done character integration and animation, and love
@@bombkirby You deserve a sub
I just realized BoJack is pouring whiskey in his coffee, hilarious.
The episode was in production before BIRDMAN was out in theaters. The drum score may have been an homage as scoring is usually among the last parts of post-production, but the long-take style is likely an homage to other media, namely Sorkin TV dramas, not BIRDMAN.
Birdman was released in theaters on October 17, 2014. S2 of Bojack didn't release until July 17, 2015. It's very possible that this scene was animated and added later on in production after Birdman was released. Also, what Sorkin TV dramas use this continuous style direction?
@@davisbowe8668 Sí, no sé por qué les cuesta tanto aceptar que es un obvio homenaje a Birmdan. Pero es patético lo enredado de los argumentos que usan para negarlo.
Didn't even realise this was a reference to Birdman. The cinematography and drums-only score gives it away now
Wow, a game show with both Hollywoo stars AND celebrities? I wonder what they know! Maybe they know things? I'm gonna find out...
It's actually supposed to be a reference to Aaron Sorkin's walk and talks, let's say specifically the ones from Sports Night or The Newsroom.
Listen to the drums, it's Birdman.
+Jonas Ristau The soundtrack is but Birdman didn't actually have that many walk and talks. Besides, the whole episode is a big Sorkin homage.
Just because it "has drums" doesn't automatically make it Birdman. One shot scenes AND drums were around before Birdman.
BuddhaBot your comment was 3 years ago but still, the show is about a washed up celebrity
Since the first episode i felt a birdman style on it
I remember someone made a UA-cam video comparing Bojack Horseman to Birdman
This scene is sooo amazing. I love birdman. They even used the same jazz drum as background music 💗
She didnt even drink the cofee
This is clearly a Sorkin walk-and-talk, not Birdman.
That drum-set soundtrack is very reminiscent of Birdman, though.
This show is smooth.
I always read this as an homage to PTA's Magnolia, with the show 'What Do Kids Know?' The title is similar, the hippo dude from Bojack is the host of the show in the film
"...now it's in the hands of God, and for the next 30 minutes I am that God!"
Fucking epic line right there.
I got a magnolia vibe from this.
There was a cut at the very end before "I am that god"
I thought this was more in homage to Aaron Sorkin's "walk and talk" scenes, a la Steve Jobs film.
Gudd boi
Gudd boi
JD Salinger was such an inspired addition to this show
i just realize that bojack had 2 alcohol bottles, men he really has a drinking problem
It must've been hard to film this. I mean... what if they miss something in their dialogue?
This was perhaps my favourite Season 2 episode but i kinda wish they kept this going for 20 minutes
This must have been hell to animate
How the hell is this made with Flash?
Effort
So I just got a commercial about horse care products before this video started XD
It's funny because the pilot aired before Birdman came out.
Genius
Good catch… I would have never noticed
Sweetie No! I think this is stupid and a waste of everyone’s time, but I care about you so I’m here.” That was oddly romantic, while also being refreshingly honest
Sorkin, Brian de Palma, Birdman
I thought this was a homage to "The West Wing."
More Sorkin-esq
I KNEW IT
I actually never made the Birdman connection before, it's also supposed to put you in mind of The West Wing/Aaron Sorkin.
Should you really be saying "Break a leg." to a horse?
Did this really happened? I do not remember this!
+lee yang yes it did., s02e08
Nice scene, but it's so jumpy. Like it's a really laggy video game.

O my gosh is that Bill Nye🙀🙀
No
jd salinger actually
Elijah Wood.
How is this a reference to Harvey Birdman?
magnolia?
I didn’t realize which episode this was and then at the end when I saw it was that game show I cringed
84th
Bojack horseman is a good show, but it’s very predictable. It’s the only show I’ve ever watched where every time I make a prediction about where the plot is going, it happens.
It's cool, but it's far less impressive when it's animated. Especially when it's animated in fucking Flash.
