Diane actually has the most relatable quotes on the show for me. Whether it be political or personal, she always makes a point at the end which hits home. She’s strong and driven, but she’s weak and lost. And when she succeeds it’s because the right people give her the push she needs, because in the end she’s just scared of losing, and if that’s not the realest thing in the show I don’t know what is

" I don't think I believe in a "Deep Down". I think all you're is just the things that you do". Kinda wanna argue but let's face it it's true. You might have the best of intentions for the people you know, but if your actions don't reflect that, the best intentions don't matter to the people around you.
kind of morbid, but i always use this example: say i hit my friend's cat with my car on accident, and as a result, the cat dies. i didn't *intend* to kill the cat, but my actions caused the cat to die. i still apologize profusely, feel awful about it, and try to make things right with my friend. because ultimately, you can explain your intentions. your intentions may help explain your behavior. but it's your actions that affect other people directly- not your intentions.
But isn't it the thing that got Diane into depression? She wanted to make something valuable though all seasons and failed at writing a book in Cordovia and then writing an autobiography. But at the end she realised she don't have to make something to prove that she was traumatized, she can write silly books and it doesn't devalues her damage and doesn't make her worse person I don't mean this quote is wrong I just mean it was a good advice for BoJack but too harmful for Diane because it made her think that she is nothing in deep down
Just realized how much Bojack and Diane's last conversation references previous moments. She says "don't be shitty" when she's smoking and Bojack said the same thing when he was smoking right before going to rehab. And Bojack says "I never know what to do with my hands" just like she said in the last episode of season 1 on the roof.
Diane hits so close. Except for the fact she still manages to date people and to get married. I always thought or felt that all the abuse and neglect made me special and that no one could ever understand that; and pushed everyone away, punishing them and myself for “just not getting it”. Diane made me realize that not all hope is lost. And that maybe someone could even love someone like me one day.
So I know this is a joke but 5 seasons with 12 episodes plus 16 of season 6 is 76 episodes each 22 minutes and 76*22=302 minutes so they can upload 5 hours and there would still be two minutes of more show.
She's a good character and I'm glad she's in the show. It's like Peggy hill. Personally If she was real, I'd avoid her the same I would avoid bojack. They are shitty hypocrites
probably because she is often portrayed as the "heart of the show" or the "straight man" aka the voice of reason. when in reality there are very unlikeable features about her. but then again her story is pretty tragic all things considered so I guess it evens out.
@@gandalfthegrey people say this all the time but it's just not true lol. it's not like it's a race or anything, but when you compare the two throughout the seasons, bojack has done MUCH worse things than diane like almost choking a woman to death and attempting to sleep with a minor. diane has done shitty things but she isn't bojack's equal, even though they have many similarities.
seeing the show laid out like this makes Bojack & Diane's "final conversation" sadder. i understand people need their peace and eventually, everyone moves on, but i can't help but feel like the relationship could've been repaired over time with some serious work and dedication... but that's how adult relationships work ig.
But the thing is, why would they? They don't know if they can repair their relationship, and the amount of sadness and bad times they've caused each other make it not worth trying
Bacon Boots On the other hand, Diane and Bojack, respectively, did some of the best things for eachother. Diane helped get Bojack into rehab, which he desperately needed, and Bojack helped her start her journey to her new self with that visit. They genuinely care for each other. And that’s what made the 2nd to last episode’s voicemail so much worse. They both have a long while to live, presumably, and while it is Diane’s decision to let it go and keep him in her life, or cut him off, she has to know she has a friend in him. A toxic one, and one who’s done a lot of bad stuff, but one nonetheless.
I honestly think it might happen. I think they won't talk a lot, but will check up on each other occasionally through the years. But Diane will probably always want to just be a distant friend. But I think one of the biggest parts of bojacks journey, is not relying on how other people see him to feel good about himself. And will have to be okay, with just being friends with people and not having them there to constantly emotionally support him.
“I think there are people that help you become the person that you end up being, and you can be grateful for them even if they were never meant to be in your life forever.”
I believe this statement so much. I know cause it happened in my life. Someone I had been madly in love over changed the course of my life and caused me to find my wife and the life I am happily enjoying now. A lot of people arent meant to stay in your life but they can change your life for the better along the way.
I've always felt that Diane was just like me and I'm just now learning that most people hate Diane. I find this very concerning. But it does explain why I have no friends.
@@maerosariesalonoy2550 she's an outspoken feminist, which is considered "bitchy" and "shrill" by some men (I think she acknowledged the fanbase's hate in the episode where BoJack pretends to be a feminist). Others argue that it's because she's "toxic", always lecturing people without realising her flaws (which, in my opinion, is such a humane, relatable trait). Also, people who like Mr PB hate her because she's no "fun" or not "grateful" to him when she freaked out about the big gestures he did.
Only shallow people dislike Diane. She's complicated in a way that people who only go surface deep don't want to, or can't, understand. She is the most moral character on the show.
Im surprised they skipped over her entire family. I always thought the episode about Diane's father dying was one of the shows first important character episodes.
@whatever the hell this green thing is because somepeople even , they change , don't want to face their consequences and instead , they just push when the innevitable will come
I love Diane. She might be a bit toxic, as she constantly puts high expectations onto people (including bojack) even though she struggles to fit herself into it. She’s such a good character though. She’s relatable considering her “good damage” thing and much more. I don’t understand how people can hate her/call her toxic like bojack. She’s nothing like bojack. She may have confided in him for a few months, but that doesn’t make her Bojack’s equal. She’s way better than him.
@SCP 096 her toxic mindset was sorta spurred with how she grew up. I understand why she would have it, but it obviously isn’t a good way of living if you’re gonna constantly find things to be mad at/miserable about.
The scene where Princess Carolyn comforts her after her abortion and tells her that she doesn’t have to explain anything to anyone hits so hard once you learn about her fertility issues.
Can we talk about the flinch that mr. Pb does when diane mentions shes moving to houston with her new bf? He feels uncomfortable and still does the right thing by (even if pretending) being happy for her. Hes a friend first and friends are kind.
Beyond that, he's really trying to understand who he is and his role in so many failed relationships. AND, he really is the only one who unconditionally supports BoJack in the end.
Diane herself points this out when interviewing the 2 girls with the doll business. She said as a "necky gal" herself, she appreciated the giraffe dolls being made with longer necks.
@@porcelainghoul yea but im talking about the prev seasons. Im just impressed that they were consistent throughout the seasons. And they pointed it out later.
I happy cried every time bojack was genuinely nice to Mr peanutbutter in the later part of the series. It just made me feel so good. ☺ Thank you for this series! ❤️
so happy that they showed her gain weight from the antidepressants. I felt so upset and sick with myself after taking them myself and gaining a few pounds, it felt like it was only happening to me. But after a while, my weight went down a bit and my depression got easier to handle, so it was worth it.
I can see why people hate her but I love her, she's such a deep character who makes mistakes and ultimately picks herself back up at the end. I think that's the big difference between her and BoJack. she chooses a new way of living, and by the end bj just hadn't quite got there yet
I’m surprised the scene of her confronting Bojack at the premier of Philbert and the one of her and Mr. Peanutbutter fighting over the Bell Room isn’t in here
Diane has always been one of my favorite characters on this show, although i'v always felt like she was so underrated and mostly hated by a lot of fans.
I feel depressed right now in my life and this show kept me somewhat sane and not out of control. Now when it's finished... I kinda feel more empty, it gave me enough to feel better but not as enough to fix it, but end of the day its you who can make things better. No one else, that's something that you learn the hard way.
I really think bojack and Diane are meant to be.. soulmates maybe. Not all soulmates have to date they can manifest themselves as friendships. I’d love to see them together once bojack really fixes himself. If he ever does
If I dont do [insert your own thing you are trying to do], it means that all the damage I got isn't good damage, it is just... damage. This. This hits me right in the soul.
I've got to say it. The Diane hate is about misogynie. Everybody on the show has VERY toxic traits, although people seems to generally like them, especially Bojack. This guy tried to kill a woman and sleep with a minor and everyone is mad at Diane because she seems like a hypocrite? I personally think Diane is one of the best characters in the show. She shows that it's ok to not be perfect, even tho everyone thinks that. I think the hate comes from her being potraited as the voice of reason and having strong political views even tho she isn't perfect. She's also a feminist and wasn't in the show to please the male gaze, as we are often shown in other movies and shows. Think about why you hate Diane, because Bojack, for example, is way worse. (sry for my english. Isn't my first language)
I don't hate Diane, I'm actually a bit fond of her, but she makes me so upset. I think it's because I can see so many traits that we both share and I hate. So when she acts out on them it just makes me realize how much I hate her and myself
@@polashteens I know that its implied. But i was just hoping they would stay in touch. Bojack and Dianes friendship was the best part of this show. She wasnt his friend for money, or because she had to be. I need to know that when we arent watching everything will be okay.
@@RandomCeltic but that's the thing right most people are concerned for thier relationship for bojacks sake. Doesn't Diane's needs matter? Doesn't she deserve to be happy?
@@QNPMEDIA while i dont think Diane and Bojack should be together romantically, i completley believe Bojack is one of the few people who actually understand Diane. I dont think that Bojack was the only person who got something out of that relationship. I dont believe that Diane-bojack = happiness
I think people don't like Diane because people come to the conclusion that she is annoying. All the characters in the show are hyper-verbal like in most cartoons. Diane is one of the few characters that really take life seriously and she expresses that in her words. She is the opposite of comical relief. She is a serious character that brings us and Bojack back to reality. Her contemplations and thoughts can become one-sided and it makes us feel like we don't want her on the screen. But she is a VERY important character. She is sort of like a ted talk that is too long and goes off track too many times. She is a character that requires patience and real-life understanding to understand. I relate to her.
I love Diane. The fact that people don’t like her is just associated with their own personal gripes. She’s a great character . But for the majority of the show, she’s in a pretty toxic relationship with her entire support system and she is pretty much forced to make herself the bad guy to be heard ever. Idk I think people have the attitude that she should “appreciate more” but sometimes depression and situations make it hard. She was always trying to help or please people around her. Seeing her settle into a comfortable and happy person with a family was a beautiful thing to me , and it s just a damn cartoon. Diane awesome 100/10
Diane is so special for me. She is definitely more than a fictional character, actually all of them are. But for me especially Diane, I just want to be depressed with her and then find an open door together. She's kind of a healer, idk how. I feel like I need her advices in my life. And I wish Bojack and Diane would be a couple just for an episode:/
I like the fact that they pointed out how charitable philanthropistic people who have their names on things or tend to make a spectacle of their generous acts are usually just looking to make themselves look good and make it all about themselves. It's never really about the people they're being charitable to because if it was they wouldn't ask for the publicity. That's what bugs me about people who say they are philanthropic charitable humanitarians and just act as if it's some kind of medal or it makes them a superhero and they want everybody to know they are "generous and caring". I've seen people be kind and do amazing acts for others without saying they are a kind and charitable person and don't desire publicity or some kind of reward for it. THEY are usually the true heroes for those who need help in dire times.
True altruistic people would not try to make their service public. Altruism requires selfless service. You are right when people who help others, but they display themselves as empaths or charitable people. They are not as selfless as you may think if they have to tell others that help others.
kinda reminds me of tahani from the good place. she successfully raised billions of dollars in charity but she only did it to please her parents and look good in front of everyone. she didn’t really care about the people she raised the money for. not to mention the constant name dropping and humble bragging when it comes to her celebrity friendship circle. she got better as a person (she’s a main character after all so we got to see her grow). sebastian st clair on the other hand, we never got to see him change since he’s a minor character and i doubt he ever did
The details in the show are another level seriously. Just noticed that at 7:38 Guy takes away the scrubber from Diane's hands gently and then the stain slowly fades away as they are talking. So meaningful 💗
I have not been apart of the Bojack fandom, just because I’ve always figured it’d be like the Rick and Morty fandom, but it’s not. Anyway, I had no idea that people hated Diane. Any Diane haters want to talk about it? I’m super down to hear different opinions now that the show has ended.
I wouldn’t say hate per say, but I just don’t like the fact that she was “holier than thou” she thought all her opinions were right, the fact that she tore down Bojack in her book and tried to make excuses... She knew Bojack liked her but kept stringing him along then gets mad at him for making a move. She lied to her husband about where she was for months! (I don’t like mr. pb either but that’s not okay to do period.) I thought she was selfish like everyone had problems and trauma which the show highlights but she wanted to seem like her problems were the only thing that mattered. She wasn’t empathetic to other people at all and that’s the main thing I felt like didn’t sit right with me.
Favour Owolabi I cant definitely see all of that. For me, I’ve been against Bojack since season two and when Diane was an “antagonist” against him it was... kind of satisfying. But I can agree that she’s not at all a good person, to me she was only the lesser of two evils.
I think a large portion of the hate (not all of it) is based off people thinking she is whiny, ingrateful, etc, which I think is unjustified. Some people seem very willing to hold Diane too a higher standard that they hold none of the other characters up to, and I feel like a lot of times they forget that she is also damaged, her family never showed her any love as a child. As for the empathy thing, I think that relates to when Bojack and Diane met Cuddlywhiskers, and he told them something like "Only when you've given everything up can you truly find a way to be happy", and Diane calls him selfish, but he tells her that he's happy. I think for most of the rest of the show, Diane is trying to make herself happy, and it can be selfish but I never really felt it was that bad. The consistent thing I find is that basically anyone who related to Diane didn't hate her, or only hated her because of how they related to her. (this is just my thoughts based off what I've seen and read, feel free to tell me that I'm wrong)
As someone who entered the show out of curiosity, I never saw Diane as the voice of reason, nor the 'holier than you" character. So it was a surprise people called her hypocritical. She's just a flawed human, even I act sometimes like Diane, and the reason I try to give good advice is just so maybe I could do what I know is best for me and what I think it may help others. Obviously is not a good action, but I'm working on it. She's just a person who wants to make sense of this world and tries her best to help herself and maybe help other, the flaw is that sometimes no one asked.
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like how she was represented in this video. The full story would include some of her deeper emotional moments that aren't just connected to relationships and the ones that got included aren't even the best ones.
I related so much with Diane.....specially the struggle with depression and medication. I gained 60 pounds on my meds and now I'm just as obese as she is.
The handgun episode was great. It verbalized a lot of feelings I have had. I have introduced many of my female friends to shooting and we all talk about having similar feelings. It also talked about how "women's" issues end up politicized and policed by society and the government.
I loved peanut butter but he never loved Diane, he just loved loving her- he wanted to express love, and that's all. Diane needed someone that loves HER, and not the act
You missed out the part where she was widly depressed and bummed around Bojack's place. That line she says about wanting to go and help people to be this best version of herself, but she isnt the person she thought she was, was too real. I related so much i felt personally attacked and it bummed me out too 😭😭😭
I love that it didn't turn into a will-they-wont-they...Ross and Rachel situation, with BoJack and Diane. Their friendship is up and down, and they seem to completely understand each other. But they are too similar in some ways (?depression/realists) and so they bring each other down because of this.
i didn't watch the show after i forgot which episode i left off on and just couldnt be bothered to find out ... but daaamn i'm glad i didn't go on that emotional rollercoaster
It is an emotional rollercoaster, but with a lot of meaning and messages behind it. I'd say its worth it. One of the last episodes has the strongest anti suicide messages I have ever seen in a TV show.
Bojack makes people feel good about accepting that they are damaged. Diane doesn't accept that, sure she's damaged, sure she knows it, but she doesn't accept it. She tries to change she tries to grow. She fails alot but she's constantly trying. She calls out bojack for not changing especially towards the last few seasons To me alot of the hate for diane is because she makes the people unwilling to change uncomfortable.
Diana supposed to represent who we truly are. She supposed to represent the fact that even though we feel that we are the main character of our own story and reality we’re probably a side character in someone else’s story and even going through our own journey and even though it’s A hard and hurtful journey, we are truly just a side character. But Dina supposed to represent that we don’t have to stay a side character. that we can actually make what the main story was originally about revolve at least 80% around us. And in the end that’s truly what the story turned into. It went from just a horse who was a drug addict getting over his has been era in the 90s into a deep dive about the people around him, going through an existential crisis, to go into a midlife crisis, to try to find ones own personal identity, to even maybe thinking that we don’t even have an identity to a whole bunch of other stuff, Diane made me realize that even though we’re a side character we can still be the hero of our own stories.
I don't hate one single character in this show. Every character teach us something about real life, it's suppose to be. I don't hate Bojack, Diand, Mr. Peanuttbutter or anyone else, because the are just... Too Real, with good and bad stuff, with shame and redemption.
@@userales It's not even about Diane. The story was set in a literal war zone and even if the creators did touch some subjects, it felt like something was missing about the actual war taking place, or that Diane was gone too quickly even after she told S. Claire she'd stay.
I think that was the point, Diane thought she could be in cordovia, write about Sinclair, and make a huge difference in that country. But Diane couldn’t do it, she couldn’t focus on the big picture, she got to attached to individuals and the amount of horror there was something she couldn’t handle. I think it brought a lot to Diane’s character and to the show and what it is truly about.

Silly me, that I didnt get the joke until the 6th time I watched it.
I still don't get the joke :(
That she got some dick
It makes me laugh all the time
LOL, it's funnier that Bojack wanted to give the D to Diane first but Mr PB beat him to it.
Some will love you. But only after you love yourself
So... basically Netflix is posting the whole show on youtube lol.
Dang dude đm, bạn mê gravity falls lẫn bojack horseman cơ à yeeee, homie
So I know this is a joke but 5 seasons with 12 episodes plus 16 of season 6 is 76 episodes each 22 minutes and 76*22=302 minutes so they can upload 5 hours and there would still be two minutes of more show.
@Jon Connington yeah you're right it 1672 minutes not 302 I don't even remember where I got that from

I will never understand why so much of Bojack Horseman fanbase hate Diane, she's easily one of the show's best characters
I think it is the hypocrisy. I think she is just as crappy as Bojack considering some of her actions in the show.
Agreed :)
Vincent Adultman loves those kinds of relationships, but he is very busy with his business transactions.
Nah... they were toxic for each other even if they did care about each other
“I think there are people that help you become the person that you end up being, and you can be grateful for them even if they were never meant to be in your life forever.”
....a paradoxon if I ever saw one ^^
I believe this statement so much. I know cause it happened in my life. Someone I had been madly in love over changed the course of my life and caused me to find my wife and the life I am happily enjoying now. A lot of people arent meant to stay in your life but they can change your life for the better along the way.
I think Diane grounds the other characters by having such a realistically built personality.
Same lol she's literally the most relatable character for me
@@APHxVOCALOID12lover jokes on them, i like Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter
People dislike Diane bc she is well... very real
Of all characters of the show, she is the one I relate with the most
Im surprised they skipped over her entire family. I always thought the episode about Diane's father dying was one of the shows first important character episodes.
Of course it’s important
I love Diane. It's totally unfair that she's so hated, while BoJack gets defended for doing unforgivable things.
I don’t hate her I love her
@whatever the hell this green thing is because somepeople even , they change , don't want to face their consequences and instead , they just push when the innevitable will come
I love Diane.
@Kat Sew Yep.
@@trenaeturane976 she just understood everything
It was never shown much, but I loved Diane's and PC's friendship
The scene where Princess Carolyn comforts her after her abortion and tells her that she doesn’t have to explain anything to anyone hits so hard once you learn about her fertility issues.
Can we talk about the flinch that mr. Pb does when diane mentions shes moving to houston with her new bf? He feels uncomfortable and still does the right thing by (even if pretending) being happy for her. Hes a friend first and friends are kind.
Beyond that, he's really trying to understand who he is and his role in so many failed relationships. AND, he really is the only one who unconditionally supports BoJack in the end.
2:17 diane's neck is long. Jesus i just noticed it.
Peanutbutter fighting over the Bell Room isn’t in here
Its to hook up audience, not to spoil
Diane has always been one of my favorite characters on this show, although i'v always felt like she was so underrated and mostly hated by a lot of fans.
I feel depressed right now in my life and this show kept me somewhat sane and not out of control. Now when it's finished... I kinda feel more empty, it gave me enough to feel better but not as enough to fix it, but end of the day its you who can make things better. No one else, that's something that you learn the hard way.
The show ended, and everything is worse now.
@@aa-to6ws The show was there to give us some important lessons. Now, we have to implement them.
🙂
Bruh we love Diane
exactly, most people in the fan base who hate diane are MEN.
I don't hate Diane, I'm actually a bit fond of her, but she makes me so upset. I think it's because I can see so many traits that we both share and I hate. So when she acts out on them it just makes me realize how much I hate her and myself
Anyone who isn't biased would say she's a well written character who has some great character moments.
So your telling me. Bojack and Diane never talk again. I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS CANNON
It was pretty much implied that they would never speak again, when Diane says that I am glad I knew you.
@@polashteens I know that its implied. But i was just hoping they would stay in touch. Bojack and Dianes friendship was the best part of this show. She wasnt his friend for money, or because she had to be. She knew exactly how horrible of a person he was and still was a friend to him, and it just makes me sad to think they wont ever have anymore of these conversations.
Its just. I need to know that when we arent watching everything will be okay.
@@polashteens That and the whole just because you don't know someone forever, you were happy they WERE apart of your life
@@RandomCeltic but that's the thing right most people are concerned for thier relationship for bojacks sake.
I dont believe that
Diane-bojack = happiness

They are not as selfless as you may think if they have to tell others that help others.
kinda reminds me of tahani from the good place. she successfully raised billions of dollars in charity but she only did it to please her parents and look good in front of everyone. she didn’t really care about the people she raised the money for. not to mention the constant name dropping and humble bragging when it comes to her celebrity friendship circle. she got better as a person (she’s a main character after all so we got to see her grow). sebastian st clair on the other hand, we never got to see him change since he’s a minor character and i doubt he ever did
If anything he did have a point that the best they could do was to keep trying te efforts, very cold but at least I guess he did help
It's amazing how much Diane's personality show's more and more in the show.
The details in the show are another level seriously. Just noticed that at 7:38 Guy takes away the scrubber from Diane's hands gently and then the stain slowly fades away as they are talking.
So meaningful 💗
8:58 a friend asked me why i ruin everything too. I told her maybe because i was good at it. Bojack is more than just a cartoon show.
I'm gonna miss the show so much
Diane’s one of the only female major/major-minor characters who hasn’t slept with BoJack.
MAKE A VIDEO ON ESTEEMED CHARACTER ACTRESS MARGO MARTINDALE
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like how she was represented in this video. The full story would include some of her deeper emotional moments that aren't just connected to relationships and the ones that got included aren't even the best ones.
I love the part where bojack goes to Chicago to thank her ❤️
ive never felt more seen and understood by a character than i have by diane
I used to wonder why even though depression ran in my family, I didn't really relate to Diane.
Then it hit me. That's my mother.
The first conversation of Mr. Peanutbutter, Diane, and BoJack is hilarious
"that wasn't a diane thing, it was a mr peanutbutter thing." Damn, some rare true insight from Bojack there.
I related so much with Diane.....specially the struggle with depression and medication. I gained 60 pounds on my meds and now I'm just as obese as she is.
“You learn that you can survive...you can survive being alone.”
The handgun episode was great. It verbalized a lot of feelings I have had. I have introduced many of my female friends to shooting and we all talk about having similar feelings. It also talked about how "women's" issues end up politicized and policed by society and the government.
2:35 Hase a nice picture of bojack looking at himself drowning in a pool
That picture is throughout the show a lot
@@yourlittleinsomniac5369 And in the last season, it took a whole new meaning.

You missed when they had to write all the wrong Bojak did and Diane was opting for the truth.
Her character (and this show) hits too close to home. Really rewarding seeing her progression and growth by series' end.
You missed out the part where she was widly depressed and bummed around Bojack's place. That line she says about wanting to go and help people to be this best version of herself, but she isnt the person she thought she was, was too real.

10:57 Jesus everything goes good for this guy
Bojack makes people feel good about accepting that they are damaged.
Diane doesn't accept that, sure she's damaged, sure she knows it, but she doesn't accept it. She tries to change she tries to grow. She fails alot but she's constantly trying. She calls out bojack for not changing especially towards the last few seasons
To me alot of the hate for diane is because she makes the people unwilling to change uncomfortable.
I also fell like flipping over nothing and finding nothing. I guess, just gotta keep flipping
