I loved this tour. Loved both Mark and Steve trading solos. John Molo became one of my fav drummers after that. After the reunion bring back The Other Ones!!!!
This is just awesome this was my first dead experience i was hooked after this.what i can remember was cruisin up to San francisco, with this old head i knew who told me i would love it and shoreline was the spot for the best party.i got together 500$ and my girlfriend at the time (my sons mom after this trip but thats a whole other block of cheddar)we jumped in the car and took off .Stayed the night in Belmont then hit the party.Man was he not kidding i ate pizza from a old school bus ,i grubbed hash goo balls dank,i bought a leather rose i still have to this day, that girl was so nice, then i met cid on the way in so seeing the concert again is like the first time again .I remembered Mickey's shirt and the ufo thing but after that i remember being in golden gate park how i got there is still a mystery my girl was with me though ,caught 125$ cab back to belmont and been going to every local semi local shows with my now 22 yrs son and 19 yrs daughter and wife of 15yrs now we hit 3 in 2022 im shooting for 4 in 2023 Dead and Companies final tour. Dead shows any version you may attend and deadhead life has kept my family close. But yeah this show started it all for me.
May Mickeys version of Fire on the Mountain stay buried on that mountain never to be heard again. I remember hearing this version live back in 1996 in Chicago and was pleasantly stunned by the balls on this version. Those guys never did care what others thought. Love that.
The only tour that carried me out west left Scranton never looked back it was the closest thing to making me feel like I was back on tour again Love and miss the crue 89-95 made it to more then we missed. The family fluff puddled couldn't say more because I don't remember
now I remember, why I couldn't stand hearing anyone sing "Fire on Mountain" for about 10 yrs. Otherwise, I have a lot of good memories from the 1998 Tour at least, I think I do...
Two reasons: 1.) Mickey wrote the music (Robert Hunter the lyrics). 2.) Mickey was under the impression that someone wanted to hear him butcher the song.
Wow. Cool to see this posted thanks. Was there. Shoreline on the lawn in July a fun time. The music was strong though too many players for my taste. I never liked Mark Karan's playing one bit. Needless overkill having two lead guitar players and a saxophone. Come on.
Kimock should have been the lone lead guitarist, no disrespect to Mark Karan, and there was absolutely no need for Dave Ellis on saxophone, no disrespect to him, either.

Yeah I like Mark and Steve together
Yes great and the vibe captured, but Jerry was one of a kind... I still miss him...

The 98' tour was awesome!
Nice
I was there man!!! Some of the best shows I have seen. The Other Ones, The Dead, Further. They are Great!!!
I was at this show. This was a great tour!
my god bobby is amazing
I saw this show and enjoyed what this Band had to offer . Steve Kimock hits the note. Wear my Other Ones T-shirt proudly. The CD is great also.
I really dug this lineup.
Mark Karen was added late for the tour at Steve Kimmock's insistence and I think Mark did an admiral job.

Had a Blast at this one
🌹IWT ❤️🙂❤️🙂
Best post jerry ever
I agree. It was like a celebration of the past, but also lots of it's OWN spirit, too.
@Wolfgangsgratefuldead
The song is "Across the River" not "Across the Lazy River". It's from Bruce & The Range's final album.
Bruce needs to be higher in the mix, its a shame not being able to hear his playing
now I remember, why I couldn't stand hearing anyone sing "Fire on Mountain" for about 10 yrs.
Otherwise, I have a lot of good memories from the 1998 Tour
at least, I think I do...
This was why Punk had to happen.
20 years later ,and they were still noodling away,
(And I speak as an old Hippie Dead / Bob Weir fan.)
Hahaha cant say I agree but I found this insight to be very uniquely awesome and true
What is the Classical minuet they're playing around 1:44:00?
Kimock transcends
No idea why they brought Dave Ellis out with them. Had to have been Weir's call.
Wow those time stamps are way off.
They probably could have done without the sax for the entire concert but overall pretty strong.
Lol why is Mickey rapping "Fire on the Mountain?"
Two reasons:
1.) Mickey wrote the music (Robert Hunter the lyrics).
2.) Mickey was under the impression that someone wanted to hear him butcher the song.
This is the original Fire written as the Pump Song. Micky rapped before there was rap music. Found on his album Rolling Thunder 1972.
Not bad but "something" is missing.
JERRY!!!!!
Molo is like Kreutzmann on steroids.

Energetic I guess
