    I'm from northeast Ohio, it's surreal to see professionals run on tracks that I've run on. Also cool to see people I've raced against (not really, I was several minutes behind them) like Garrett in these videos.

    Clayton, great video! Wish you were still training on the Beachwood HS Track but your videos are awesome! What I particularly enjoy is Coach LaBadie’s words of wisdom and the way he always explains what, why, and how he wants you to run the specific workouts. It was great seeing Garrett Crichlow too.. beautiful runner. Good luck tomorrow in the 800m !!

    I gotta question I’m a 800 runner and I already took my 1-2 break from track season how should I train in the off-season and also my school doesn’t have XC. I don’t wanna start building my base bc that should only be like 3 months I just need some wisdom😂

    • @rileyfoster2877
      @rileyfoster2877 2 роки тому +11

      Honestly if I was you I’d recommend building a solid base and holding then tapering back and adding some tempos and longer track workouts. Then by the time track season rolls around you’ll have a solid base with decent speed endurance.

      NEVER neglect your speed.

    • @believinbreezin3352
      @believinbreezin3352 2 роки тому +3

      Speed can be retained and even developed with once every two weeks 6-10x100m at Max Speed with full recovery, or equivalent distance to rep ratios (like 4-7x150m, or 3-5x200m). Dont need to stress speed, just something to let your body unleash a bit.

    I noticed that left ham is taped up! Sometimes soreness there is due to a lot of hard reps turning in one direction on the track. So if u do warm ups and cool downs on the track do them going the opposite way, just to give that left ham a break from all those turns.
    Also on turns try not to lean too much into the turn, and only try and balance the centrifugal force of the turn using minimal energy.

    Any tips for avoiding shin splints? I go through cycles of building up for 3-4 months before getting shin splints. Try everything from new footwear to dialing back the miles. I usually manage to get in something like 1.55 shape, then they strike again and I'm out for weeks.

    Clayton I’m just an internet coach but I think you should train more like a 400m/800m runner with how fast you are. I also think this adjustment may help with some of the injuries you always have pop up. You end up running races much much faster than you’re used to going in practice. (Well from what you show us) Good luck. Can’t wait to see you in oregon.
