I’m paying 165$ a session at the pain psychology center and you’re YT is full of the same free advice they’re giving me. I don’t think people realize how valuable the info on. Your channel is. Thank you thank you.
@@cassettepat Pain is 95% gone. I’m riding a 102 mile bike ride this weekend (used to be unable to ride 100 feet). My pain is still there at times but I’ve learned how to control and manage it or work through it. In terms of the pain psychology center, they were great, I did 10 sessions with them. If I was selecting a counselor again I’d choosing this guy. He’s my favorite psychologist for pain stuff. I attribute Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma injections to ending my 3 years of chronic pain. I’d highly recommend working with the Pain PT or another counselor. It was crucial in helping me heal.
Initially I was able to do it in a much better way ,and it really showed dramatic results but lately my overthinking mind gets into a way especially when lots of things are happening in life. during or around that day . Like how I'm going to do some particular task ,or why did he say like that or what will I wear to the event or when this is gonna finish I will start my daily chores . The list is endless and because of my overactive mind I'm not able to focus much . I try to notice my mind but that doesn't help either. It feels like there is some kind of rush like I have to finish this and move to the next task . Any help
This is the best somatic tracking meditation I've heard so far. It is excellent! For me, you are communicating in a way that I feel supported and held while doing something that can be pretty scary! I am able to feel safe and lean into my feelings and emotions in a much easier way.
Thank you so much Alan! You have changed my life. I have been in extreme pain for 25 years and with your book The Way Out and the videos you post I am living a pain free life. I could not sit without it feeling like I was sitting on a hot charcoal and now, following your instructions the pain is gone! It comes back occasionally when I am stressed but I just need to do my somatic tracking and it goes away. It has also showed up in other areas of my body, calf and back but that goes away too. I am able to live a full life again, thanks to you. I appreciate you and have much gratitude for what you have done. 👍🏼🥰
This was very helpful in reducing the fear & anxiety of my symptoms. I will definitely come back to it again. Thank you!! I plan on listening/watching some of your other videos.
I've been listening to this almost every day for the last month or two and it's made a profound impact on my progress with changing my relationship with my physical symptoms as well as just developing mindfulness even outside of meditation. I even did a little bit of this on my own while running and saw a difference! If you ever upload this on insight timer or for download I will pay :)
I do this most days and have for the past few months. The most helpful and relatable somatic tracking exercise I have done by far. Highly recommended. Thanks so much Jim!
Thank you, I'm going to watch/listen/do this over and over again. It's really helpful to learn and accept and then know that my body knows what to do, and my mind is creating the problem
As soon as you try to Control..you lose the Benefit. I have tried to do Mindfullness meditation for years and it never worked. You are the First and the Only person I have found who Teaches this Right. Thank You. It has been so beneficial for me.
I hear you - I sucked at mindfulness meditation too. But I found I was great at guided visualizations as I have a powerful imagination, and fell in love with Chi Gong, a moving form of meditation that is so somatic many practitioners use some of it in their work. Then I discovered yoga nidra, which too moves the mind through the body and I was hooked. You have to find those who work for YOU - and somatic tracking is wonderfully powerful, isn't it? Jim teaches so very well. Thanks for all the terrific videos, Jim!
This is such a great exercise, thank you so much for posting this! Alan Gordon states that Somatic Tracking is the "number one technique for healing chronic pain."
I want to thank you for being part of my life everyday . I am a Curable graduate and find that all your podcasts have enhanced my life. I do your somatic tracking every day❤️
I can't thank you enough for posting this. I've listed most every day for the past month. While I've listed to some other somatic tracking, this is the best. Thank you so much for the impact you've had on my pain!
I cannot express to you how much your channel has helped me manage and overcome my chronic pain. This video especially. Thank you so much for all of your work x
Good for you! I actually had far LESS pain when I got oft the benzo's and antidepressant the doctor had prescribed for the pain and insomnia of MEFM. I knew pain medications work for approximately 6 months, then cause 43% MORE pain as I was a freelance writer who had interviewed 3 of the best pain clinics for an article. But I didn't realize until I quit quite how much harm the drugs had done. Finding healthy ways to decrease pain, stress, anxiety are SO empowering aren't they? You can do this - and what a wonderful reason to keep drugs out of your body! Best of luck.
Love you Jim! You’re a Godsend. Thank you for sharing your expertise on these videos so people can heal. You’re making the world a better place. ❤️ Your constant re-assurance, filled with info on brain science is brilliant.
Every time I do this I hear different things. You make me so. Hopeful. Actually every time I listen to any of your videos I learn more and more how I’m creating new Pathways in my brain and so I keep doing it. god knows I need it after years of being in holding pattern.
Wonderful thank you. I've done this twice and felt a pronounced shift each time. I am hopeful that, with daily practice, I can make peace with my brain and heal.
I appreciate this and part 1 so much! I'm having a weird day ... the pain bounced around like a live wire down in a storm. I have so much healing work to do!!! You make things related to TMS pain simple and I understand better from you .... plus your voice is soothing which helps SO much!!!

Wow I really felt the shift of pain from my chest area which makes it hard to breathe. I’ve used this a few times but left it few weeks and really did notice a difference! So is it changing our perception of the pain? Thank you so much Jim 🤩
Thank you so much for the work that you are doing Jim. You are truly making a very positive difference in this world and I would like to thank you for that
Listening every day, sometimes more than once. It seems I have a hard shell that does not want to be permeated lol I keep thinking I should have it, and be able to put myself into this place, but it's like everything goes blank! I have heard others say it can take months and even years, so have decided to practice radical compassion toward myself and just listen to this whenever I feel like it. You are easy to listen to, the instructions are simple and you speak with a caring that is felt through a screen. Thank you for this, and for all the other videos as well, very very helpful. All the best to you 💛✨✌️
Thank you so much for this guidance Jim! It actually dropped my symptoms after practicing it a few times. I will be sure to routinely practice this every day. Thanks so much 🙏
On my drive home from the gym, I've been pulling over onto a quiet road to do this exercise in the car where I can almost guarantee privacy and quiet. Less daunting to tag it onto another already established habit, too. It really helps my attention to have someone gently talking me through it too. Thanks!
Hi Jim, Thank you for this great video. I'll try to document my journey of using it and coming to it each day. Here are the past 3days to start: Background: Never had migraines before, 2 years ago I started developing weird sensations in the head that became headaches overtime. About 1 year ago they became daily chronic migraines (sometimes with nausea) they can last all day even at night. Since using this video morning and evening: - Day 1: The pain was at 6/10 I noticed the sensation changing with more painful waves sometimes. - Day 2: The pain was at 9/10 same thing I noticed the change, I think I felt more relaxed after the session. I had noticeably no pain in the evening. - Day 3: I woke up with 6/10 pain that quickly subsided. I enjoyed most of my day without pain even while working. The sensation just started back in the evening. Having almost a full day without pain is already a big step forward. I'll try to stick to it.
Day 5: I realized I was focusing on the sensation too much. I watched different interviews with people who got rid of their TMS headaches, my take away was just not think about it, ignore it. I felt a shift immediately in the good direction. Now I'm cultivating that attitude 🙏 Thank you
I’ve used similar techniques with great effect and what I found is that a breakthrough comes when you realise that you’re brain has wandered to something else and the pain is not there. There is something profound about observing symptoms from a detached perspective.
I totally agree about there being something profound about observing symptoms from a detached perspective. It's like the fear aspect is taken out and you are only left with the sensation itself, seeing it in a completely different light. Which I guess is really powerful in altering your relationship
Thank you for this. I’m trying it for anxiety symptoms. I get pain and a heavy feeling in my chest. I’m hoping it’ll work for that. I’m finding I’m fine with the sensations while I’m doing the exercise but not always outside of that. I’m hoping that the more I do it the easier it will be when I’m not doing the somatic tracking.
Been doing this every day for the past week, sometimes more than once. I already knew about somatic tracking but this is the first time I have been able to do it regularly and actually feel calmer at the end. I also think I have started to notice myself freaking out less at symptoms in general, but I'm definitely still curious how helpful this will prove to be in the end.
Yes this practice is about feeling your feelings allowing whatever is in your body to have an expression freely without bringing in the secondary reaction or putting up resistance. The idea is that things can flow to go in time. valuable skill to have that you can develop and use anyplace anywhere
Unpleasant feelings. So I lay down and I breath to relax and then I notice a sensation, I say to that body part, “I see you… I feel you…. It’s ok… we’re safe… whats’s causing this?, what do you need me to do to help you feel better? I love you. We’re safe.”
Do you have any recordings of this sort of exercise that people can download or buy? I send this exercise to all my clients but it would be so helpful if it was accessible somewhere other than youtube! Such a fantastic exercise, thank you 🙏🏻
I use this often, so thank you. Today I was observing migraine pain moving around on one side of my neck and head, and eventually my pinky finger on that side started twitching! It was so odd
Hi such an interesting practice. Moved to tuning into my heart space only to be experience sharp shooting pain in leg. Didn’t let this distract me.I’m feeling a lot of energy in my heart space but at the moment finding labelling the actual emotion tough.
It's interesting how my body is resisting symptoms it doesn't like in the same way that my mind is resisting things in my life that I don't like and find difficult, which keeps me ruminating! Our bodies are like a mirror of our minds being reflected back to us in physical form.
I just tried this for my first time. The pain shifted all over the place and really intensified yet at the same time, I started falling asleep. I’m not sure what that means.
The noises in the background were super triggering for dysautonomia Couldn't take it sorry. Cooking dinner maybe ? Love your testimony videos .hopefully no ear pain soon and I can come back.
Hi Jim Thanks for this video. I have been practising for couple weeks now. My question is everytime I try to bring my attention to the pain and try to describe it, I become very sleepy. It's hard to find the right words to describe my pain and my mind drifts off.i try to do with my eyes open now . Perhaps I am not doing right?
Thanks Jim. Would somatic tracking be a good exercise to perform in the middle of a flare up or should it b done when pain levels are "normal". Great video 👍
Yes it’s a good exercise to do for a flareup. Because your system is all shook up with symptoms, settling it with relaxation and teaching your brain not to be afraid of these symptoms while relaxing into them is very helpful
Me too. Lure of advert revenue sadly. Which will mean the people with least money will be most impacted. There will be no free resources . Do'nt think you will get a response. Disillusioned.
Hi Jim, question, when I lay in bed or on the floor I can do this surrender work sometimes. But as I go about my day and life, the automatic response to control/resist goes into swing. Also I try to allow when standing and maybe dont feel as supported or safe to allow them and tend to overthinking it and winding myself into knots. Cuasing so much confusion and discomfort in my inner experirnce Haha. Its almost like I forgot how to feel feelings. What do you suggest for trying to do the work standing and through the day?
Honestly, I understand everything you are asking me to do but I’m not feeling a shift. I will continue to do this daily , referring back to this video. I feel that repetition on this may make the difference. Everyone’s system responds differently and at a different pace.
Yes can take time but also remember The irony of this practice is you’re not trying to change anything. You are trying to become OK with the symptoms without any expectation. When you’re not concerned about them or fearful of them or worried about them anymore that’s when they can start to recede
Im like 90% pain free but whenever i feel little pain i let go sometime im searching for the pain cause i had pelvic pain iif sit in a position thats make feel a little pain i keep staying and same position and observing the pain then after few minutes the pain go away
Several other people including myself have fpund we can no longer do this because of adverts. I suppose we are supposed to pay UA-cam for advert free subscription which many cannot do. I am coming off internet in august. I have become disillusioned by the rampant commercialisation. This is the last straw for me.
I’m paying 165$ a session at the pain psychology center and you’re YT is full of the same free advice they’re giving me. I don’t think people realize how valuable the info on. Your channel is. Thank you thank you.

Me too. Lure of advert revenue sadly. Which will mean the people with least money will be most impacted. There will be no free resources . Do'nt think you will get a response. Disillusioned.
Thanks, very helpful
Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Jim, question, when I lay in bed or on the floor I can do this surrender work sometimes.
When you’re not concerned about them or fearful of them or worried about them anymore that’s when they can start to recede
please pray for me many thanks

The ad in the middle gives me a such a jolt every time that I can't do this tracking anymore. Is it possible to move it to the beginning?
Several other people including myself have fpund we can no longer do this because of adverts. I suppose we are supposed to pay UA-cam for advert free subscription which many cannot do. I am coming off internet in august. I have become disillusioned by the rampant commercialisation. This is the last straw for me.
