- Mega Rayquaza is returning to Pokémon Go the end of June, but not in the way we expected. Today I'll discuss my thoughts on the upcoming Mega Rayquaza raid day and why this may be one of the worst event's of 2024.

My thoughts exactly! Having more raids available encourages players to congregate at hotspots to complete more raids.

Yea I do live in a big city but I have no friends who play pokemon go here cause I just moved a few months ago so doing it will be impossible for me. I am also very introverted so it would be hard for me to just meet up with randoms and do it with them. I hope I can bring myself to doing that as I just returned to pokemon go a few weeks ago and I would love to be able to get my favourite pokemon which is rayquaza
try campfire . the local groups , just say hi and ask if ppl are playing the event. we are all scared and insecure . at some point grow up. if you cant , go play pokemon on a ds or switch . go isnt a game for you. i travel a lot , i use campfire to meet strangers all the time , you dont even have to meet them face to face , just be in range of the gym . but excusses get you no pokemon.
I know that feeling. It can be a struggle playing somewhere new along with the added restrictions of elite raids. I do hope you're able to get some Mega Ray raids in!
If you want to find new friends, the campfire app has been amazing for me. It’s goated for cities😆

Came back to PoGo last August 2023 just missing the last Ray global raid day - was one of the eagerly awaiting its return
Quite disappointed to see that they’re going with this format for it personally. Living in a smaller more rural community, it’s unlikely I’ll even be able to obtain one at all this time around. I was also quite disappointed with enamorous raid day for the same reason. I think they could please a lot more people by approaching these situations differently - it feels like they’re being overly restrictive and creating more difficulty for more people than they are benefit in pushing people to engage in their local communities.
When i found out Ray was coming back i thought i would finally have a chance at the shiny i couldnt get in gofest. I even have a extra meteorite for it. These Elite raids are a major let down. I barely got a Enamorus group together in the midle of a cold winter. Its Ridiculous! Watch Niantic sell the meteorite for 10$ ticket
I did 20 Mega Rayquaza raids, I never encountered the shiny either… I needed to trade for mine, it’s lucky. I’d love to have one with my OT on it 😭😭😭
Do you think they’ll actually release a way to get a meteorite? I’d rather pay $10 for it than not get one at all tbh
Just a guess, there is just no way people can do alot of raids for meteorite unless they give some incentive for people to go out there and make money with it. Win win for them. Just a thought anyhow
If it’s an elite raid day you’re realistically only getting 2 raids in that day. Do you think they’ll be a way to get a meteorite from research? Or will this be completely banking on that 1/30 chance from raid rewards? That’s what I’m very worried about
I think there's a good chance they'll give at least one meteorite through research. I could see everyone getting a free timed research for "win a raid" or "catch a Rayquaza", then having a ticket in the shop to get another.
I live in an area with one elite gym within 3.7 miles. It's a gosh damn bridge, and nobody, not even ONE PERSON came for when Enamorous was live. Why Pokèmon Go

2 1 hour raids 5 hours apart is wild… groups are less likely to gather up twice because of real world responsibilities. Should of just been 2 hours straight or 2 days 1 hour on the same time
It should technically be one raid per window (12,1, 5, & 6) for 30 minutes each, though we won't know for certain until the event info drops.
Also I agree. Having such a wide gap definitely lessens the chance that people will stay out for both time slots. They definitely should have done one long block or two short blocks over 2 days

I would say no since they they haven't given passes for any of the other elite raids we've had so far
The tragic thing is even if they were really nice and did that, almost no one could do 5 elite raids so that would just be more mean😭

Honestly, I think it's not a problem to have such a strong pokémon locked behind obstacles like in person raid, limited number of gym appearences etc. The best and strongest pokémons should by hard to get, and it should stay that way. New players now can have just everything, and the game is doing nothing to reward players who plays for a long time.

@@LezzThan I was participating during GO Fest last year, like every year. My point is, new players have opportunity to have EVERYTHING so easily, but the game is no rewarding long time players. Some rare and strong pokémons should be hard to get, at least that can the game do challenging when most of the features are not.
Good point, but counter point. There's a difference between hard to get and down right impossible.
The problem here being no one does elite raids in the first place and they cannot be soloed. I went out for multiple of the past raid days pinging my discord community, lighting a flare in Campfire, etc etc. And yet, nothing. No one came multiple times over.
There is also the problem of meteorites. Only people who played GO Fest in 2023 have or had meteorites in the first place, and those people nine times out of ten already have a mega rayquaza. At this point just set a rayquaza to your buddy and start walking. No point in doing some impossible limited raids.
Now if people actually DID do the raids you would have a point. But, they don't and this is a dying game, so...
This game is PVE centered and uncompetitive. No point in making legendaries so difficult to get. Also it’s already hard enough to get enough XL candy or even enough regular candy to max out legendaries. Doing only 5 raids will never be enough
but we got campfire . easy way to talk to local players to team up. stop complaining . go out and play , talk to ppl , its ok. dont be scared

You’re right, campfire is an excellent tool for coordinating local raids. The issue is not everyone uses it because it’s a separate app from Pokémon go. This is usually the response I get when I ask players I meet while I’m out playing. I think if Niantic created an in-app communication system, coordinating raids would be much less of a hassle.
Too bad it’s broken and nobody uses it.
