8:16. Me and my son are finishing up our 2000 ex couple with D16 forged internals, precision 60/48 turbo, etc ( bunch of other good stuff, build and we are planning to finish up the last little bits and break it in tomorrow. Loved the video, it been so nerve-racking trying to find a good break in procedure.
You have inspired me. I just noticed that you picked up the block by hand! Walked it inside, the engine bay! I am going to save on a cherry picker and assemble my turbo kit instead with that $600.00! God bless! And thank you!!!!
Great video, you broke it down so easily that I think my 15 year old son can rebuild the z6 block we have downstairs. We're looking to go turbo later this year, right now building a strong high revving all motor D!
Great videos, learning alot. Some youtubers have good content but are using specialty tools and a fancy shop, you are doing some awesome stuff on a budget!
Love your videos man, thanks for making them so in-depth. I'm in TX too. I bought a 1998 Civic EX coupe as a project last year, and in typical Honda fashion, it has over 220k miles and still runs fine. But I'm going to attempt my first rebuild with it. I'd be proud to rebuild the ol' D16Y8 up for boost, and I want to clean the whole car up but time & money all that. I'd really like to do it right and drive it for years. I'll be referencing your videos when I'm working on it and I'll make sure I keep supporting the channel! Good luck man

Awesome video as always. Myself I always have the top ring smaller gap then the bottom. But you’ve done this a few times. So I know you know what you are doing.
You are correct on that i have done it both ways no issues but i run smaller up top for heat expansion so the ring lands don’t break but yes both ways work

That came out really nice i always wanted to do a vitara build but the car i got came with a b18b1/a1 so ive been just building the car with that motor on my channel, but i will do one in the future on a different car, loved the whole process of this build cant wait to see it when its fully dialed in.

Absolutely FanDamTastic Video in terms of detail, I feel confident enough to do this eventually $$$. Goodluck! So for the break-in process basically just light driving for like 2000 miles? I know you said change oil after 200. what the total break in time in miles.
Boosted Fool Well it varies from person to person. After 300miles I Changed my oil and gave her hell and it’s holding up. Most people say get out there after the rings are sealed and beat on it. Others say wait till 200 miles drain oil then drain oil again at 600 then 1000miles then your good to beat on it.
How much would you gap the piston rings for the 75.5mm pistons because I know you said you have the standard size pistons which are 75mm? Thanks! Always super helpful
I've never seen a build with the top ring gapped more than the 2nd. Usually the 2nd ring is opened up a couple thousands more. What was the methodology behind gapping them backwards?

If I'm runing 5 psi do you need to gap them,?I'm only running 5 psi because the parts are expensive now
Gap the spark plugs? I would take the spark plug gap from 0.44 down to 0.38 even on lower boost just to make sure you don't blow the flame out.

well I got a whole d16 build with Cam install no turbo just all in a and I can't get it to run right got any recommendations
What intake manifold / head mods are you running if anything and what size injectors are you running im planning a similar build and am curious?
i'm skeptical about this claim that full synthetic will prevent your rings from seating. synthetic oil just has better thermal properties. it's basically just oil like non synthetic. you probably did something else wrong on that build that wouldn't stop smoking
tried to look at your tuners page and it says page not found
bighavikg try this facebook.com/Asian.Mike620
Did you send the block off or is this a stock rebuild
I have a d15b7 and what to Vitara build it. How do I know which piston size to get 75 or 75.5 ?
Get 75.5 and bore your block .5 over. other wise you’ll have piston slap with the 75mm,you’ll hear it mostly on cold start ups goes away once the engine is hot
75.5 for sure. Don’t go 76. That bit of clearance is handy to have if you needed to re-hone eventually. Speedfactory long rods also
Did u prime the oil system at all? Should I do that?
Yes for a new motor or just putting something together like a turbo always unplug the distributer and prime it
how much hp is that build able to push?
400-600 with the right tuning and a race cam
