I think some people will understand your use of "sentence" as "his sentence of 24 years," rather than the sentence you put in quotation marks :P - or are you sickened and mad he didn't get more?
@Hafsah Mominn it was a conscious decision going race driving knowing damn well it’s illegal and can put others in danger. You should rather feel this big sympathy for the family of the innocent mother and daughter who were killed that day because of this young mans decision to go racing
Woww Dr. Todd’s roast on street racers is probably the most informed and accurate I’ve ever heard from a white collar professional type of person. The part about chopping off mufflers and using cold air intakes without adjusting for the change in back pressure is something I’d expect to hear from a mechanic or real car builder. And the part about handling being just as important if not more so than huge power gains is something I only started to realize after years of being a car enthusiast
a mustang that they sell in the UK is not a very stable car, under heavy braking it goes sideways, and very difficult to control for a very experienced driver, it also won't turn a motorway corner over 60 without sever understear, I only had mine a week gave it back, went Audi instead, but what would posses parents to give a child a car that is fast? with crap handling? he got what he deserved
Growing up, my father used to regale me with his hot-rodding stories from the 1950s. In the 1980s I tried to emulate him and hit a boy on a bike when I was 17. That cured me of speeding and reckless driving forever and I paid the price. Thankfully the boy wasn't hurt badly. My son will never hear about his grandfather's driving, that's for sure. He will, however, hear about his Dad's stupid mistake before he gets his license.
I hear ya. Prime example of why you don’t tell youngsters about the stupid shit you did at their age. Because every single time without fail, they’ll go out into the world and try to one up you. And a lot of the time they, the kids, don’t even realize that’s what they’re doing. Glad in your instance things weren’t disastrous.
One of the super rare times when a rich kid actually faces consequences for their actions. We need to hear of more even justice system outcomes less phased by a families income.
Didn’t something similar happen in Cali, where a young driver was driving his sports car I believe fast asf and crashed and killed a female driver. Charges were dropped since the dad had a shit ton of money, I believe he is a millionaire
His roast on boys modifying their cars was comedy gold. Some things are just timeless. Goofy kids and their goofy cars definitely fall into that category.
so… you’re saying we should all wait until we’re 24 to drive? you’re saying we’re not capable of driving because our brains aren’t “fully developed” you might as well say we shouldn’t get jobs until we’re 24 either because our non fully developed brains aren’t capable of it. 18yr olds can make it just fine on the roads, you’ll just always have a few idiots
Like most, I was driving when I turned 16. Earned money and bought my own car. I did not engage in racing because I didn't want hurt myself or others or damage the car I and worked hard for. I wasn't perfect, but I made thru those years okay. Blaming incredible stupidity on and undeveloped brain is a cop out. I'm sure his brain will evolve while in prison. He made his choice and he has to pay. End of story.
@@claudiaa9357 I don’t think he’s advocating that 18-year-olds shouldn’t drive. I think he was pointing out that it’s a dumb defense that really doesn’t hold water. If your lawyer argues you don’t understand the consequences of your actions because your brain isn’t fully developed, it would stand to reason that the prosecution could argue you shouldn’t have been driving for that very reason.
162 mph?! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! These fan girls are totally delusional. He killed a mother and her infant child! 24 years is completely appropriate given that it was an accident, but it was done from a complete lack of judgement and care for anyone beyond himself.
Parents shouldn't be over indulging kids like that. Those boys should have been required to get jobs and buy their own cars if they wanted to drive. There is no reason for kids to have cars like that, unless they work and buy the cars themselves.
@C L are you telling me you’ve never walked on a sidewalk next to a 40 mph street? Most people going 40 aren’t going to hit pedestrians unless they are either speeding or not paying attention. And when people walk across said street they take into account the positions of the cars and they calculate that they’ll be able to cross because they don’t expect an oncoming car to be doing over twice the speed limit. And same is true for making turns in your car. You gauge the distance and based on the conditions of the road, the distance of the cars and the speed limits of the road you make your turn. I do that all the time because the street I live on has a cross street where the limit is 40. Oh, and shall we forbid the students at the high school and jr. high school from walking on the sidewalks in front their schools on this same street?
In cases like this. It is sad to see someone so young go to prison for so long. But to be that father and husband….You can’t possibly imagine the pain.
"They want to show off their driving talent which is particularly challenging, considering they don't really have any." Delivered in classic Dr. Grande deadpan. Hilarious.
Imo one of the things I most admire about Dr. Grande is that his dry wit is pretty carefully meted out. Often he does a whole video (normally the more serious ones) with little or no humor as befits the subject matter.
Some of these vehicles make it easy. I have a Subaru and that thing kicks the second I step on the gas. Given the vehicle’s size, I’m really amazed at her pep. Of course, I don’t race. She might be slow by those standards.
The baby was actually kinda ugly. There was only one beautiful person involved. Also, Cameron’s brother and friend are so repulsive, being surrounded by uggos made him delusional about his own attractiveness.
Exactly. It's just as inexcusable as driving drunk. It's absolutely disgusting behavior. He cost a woman and BABY their lives, she had no time to even react. Nothing she could have done could have stopped it. Makes me physically ill to even think about.
If he killed someone going 60 in a 40 would 24 years still be a fit sentences I think the sentence came with the speed not the actual killing. I’d be outraged if he was sent to prison for 24 years if he was barely speeding.
@@Great_Lakes_Discus Probably depends on the laws. Since this is a 40 MPH zone, the reasoning is usually because it’s in town, traffic, cross walks, etc. Had he actually been going 60, he might have had time to stop. Looks like that speed of 100+ MPH itself is a felony in Florida, and that’s without causing a death.
"I guess this group should stick to advocating for people they consider beautiful because math is not where their strength lies." Best line I've heard all day, straight up burn!! lmao
Accident is when you drive in speed limit and a person suddenly enters roadway. If somebody acts recklessly they ask for tragedy. If they themselves died I would say good riddance. The real tragedy is when innocent die!
No the real tragedy is that we live in a society that praises reckless behavior on television, movies, games, music, etc yet has very different expectations from people in real life.
@@thetruth2230 I agree. The more idiotic behaviors the more popular the show, movie, music and the games. They're tell our young to be all about the self. So things have a greater chance of going wrong later in life.
I have a 2yo baby boy and everything sad related to children and babies is just too much for me. I can't imagine what that family went through, losing a baby and a daughter/wife or girlfriend. Those boys just didn't care for anyone, speed limits are there for a reason. What a stupid thing, and caused two people to die a painful horrible death, one of them was just a small baby, horrible... They deserve a harsh sentence.

No, giving a car that powerful to a kid AND NOT FIRST HAVING BEEN A REAL PARENT and teaching the little fool not act like an idiot behind the wheel and not putting the fear of God into them is insanely bad judgement! We bought our daughter a 1969 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 for her 16th birthday. It's got a 455 big block engine in it, monster cam, reverse valve body, trans brake and all manner of various other things that make it BY FAR faster than this little boys mustang. Her car is literally barely street legal, it has a fuel cell for God's sake. We are a family of gear heads that love our hot rods, she was raised at the drag strip. She is now almost 18 and guess how many people she's killed on the road? Not a one. Accidents? No. A single ticket? Nope. Never even been pulled over. I'm 37 and I literally haven't ever been pulled over in my life. We taught her to act with some damn sense or get her big ass busted. Parenting. Its a lost art.
The loss of both Mom & baby is incredibly tragic. How sad. I have never had the urge to drive 100+ mph. Never! My Gram was hit by a drunk driver going too fast. She was walking down our camp road when she was hit and she died. Thank you so very much, Dr. Grande!
What a shame that his parents decided to give their son such a vehicle for simply graduating from high school. What on earth were they thinking? Apparently they preferred to indulge their son, rather than provide him with guidance and direction. Very irresponsible parenting. Absolutely ridiculous. How sad. May that lovely young mom and her daughter RIP.

Well, aren’t you the sanctimonious linguist over here. I think anyone can agree that this group of friends fucked up bad. I’m almost certain anyone of us can think back to 18 and realize we were completely different people. Taking away more years of life than he’s even experienced, isn’t justice. This situation will haunt this group for the rest of their lives, regardless of if they spent 20+ in a cage. 2 lives were already lost, but to take away 3 more in an attempt to balance the scales is not justice. I don’t know what these kids should have got. But the Cameron shouldn’t have got 24 years. It’s absolutely ludicrous that you fancy yourself so superior as to suggest that you yourself have never done anything that was reckless or dangerous. But in case you haven’t I encourage you to stop being the moral super power of the internet and start living.
24 years is deserved for Cameron Herrin. My dad was killed in a car accident caused by someone's criminal negligence, and the guy was in prison for at least a decade. I have no mercy for Herrin no matter how pretty his fangirls think he is.
@C L You are one of the fangirls aren't you. C L, those lives Cameron has taken will be on his mind for the rest of his life. It is clear that he asked for the sentence that he received. He realizes that he is guilty. Let him live out that sentence in prison. He may do the time but killing someone is a life sentence in their own mind. He will never forget it.
@C L - Jesus Christ - "masculine pursuits". There's more to being masculine, at least for those who have more than two synapses to fire together, than driving on a public road at 102mph and killing a young woman and her 2 year old child.
@C L Ahhh, I see, Masculine pursuits. I do believe that under modern capitalism a person is allowed to take up the sport of car racing. Formula one and Supercars. I believe this comes under motorsports. I do believe there are organizations that cater to this sport that these young men can take up if they are so interested. I doubt very highly that a professional motorsport driver would be racing a car on a public road. There you go. Problem fixed. Want to race cars, do it professionally. That is of course unless you are not that great at it.
@C L "masculine pursuits" and "freedom" are worth murdering people? Young man should be allowed to break speeding limits to feel like they're "racing" in suburbab neighborhoods? You are a waste of space.
@C L Don't go there. Don't even fucking go there. I'll gladly hand you my trauma so I can get rid of it and you can see what it's like to have lost a parent to someone's asshattery at a really young age. He didn't die from someone racing but from an accident caused by illegal parking. Look who's really acting shameful.
The look in his eyes when the judge handed down his sentence was classic. The appeals court upheld his sentence. He is scheduled to be released in 2045. Maybe his brain will be fully developed by then.
His humor is so dry that it makes him even more humorous. Prayers to the family. To lose a mother and a child by another in such a selfish way is unforgivable. In my opinion, he's getting away with murder!

Holy hell, that father must be in an awful place. Imagine you have a wife and young daughter. One day she takes the baby out for a walk and they both get killed. The fact that the baby died the next day is even more heartbreaking. The father probably held onto hope that at least she could live.
Imagine that girls parents and spouse receiving a call saying your loved one got ran over by street racers. The sudden disappearance of a loved one is life changing
That little baby and her mother were way too beautiful to die, if we're going by what your outside appearance would determine about your future. You intended to go almost 3x the speed limit. You knew good and well that it was illegal and dangerous to yourself and others. I'm just flabbergasted and dumbfounded by people's brain functions.
@Hafsah Mominn Well if you take into consider that he killed two people it makes sense legally. He was an adult and knew perfectly well what he was doing. He was warned before and still selfishly went 102 miles on a public road. He deserved it. Imagine if this was you and your kid? You'd think differently.
@Hafsah Mominn I don't hate the kid, I don't know him. But I will say that I do not respect him and his poor decisions. He committed a crime and killed 2 innocent people and I think that warrants some dislike.
@Hafsah Mominn If there's media attention of course people are going to put their opinion. Other cases like this hasn't gotten the attention as Mr. Herrin's He committed a crime because he disobeyed the law and committed vehicular manslaughter and street racing. He failed to realize that street racing is dangerous and can result in death. He did not think properly. I am only stating the facts. The average vehicular manslaughter charge will be about 10 years. Since he killed two people and was street racing at 102 mph, the sentencing of 24 years makes perfect sense in the eyes of the law. I think a judge knows what he's talking about more than you.
@Hafsah Mominn apparently people are not free to express their opinions online lest they would be categorised as haters. Stop advocating for him blindly and don't say it was accidental he had a choice before going over-speed.
This is the fourth Dr Grande video I have watched and he is particularly savage in this one. Rightly so. Very educative with an understated but highly entertaining sense of humour.
The victims were pretty. Shouldn't that cancel out his attractiveness? I read that his sentence was harsher because he did indeed have previous offenses. He killed two innocent people - his weapon of choice was a motor vehicle. Twenty-four years is a small price to pay for the two lives and the pain and suffering of the family. 😢 💔
The reason he’s in prison isn’t because the legal system works independent of attractiveness biases. It’s because he hit the wrong people. A beautiful, white, blonde female and her female baby. The only reason this chad is serving out a full sentence is because he managed to hit the only people who hold even more value than him, Stacy and baby. If the victims would have been a black guy with his son or a couple Indian foreign exchange students, Cameron would be out on community service and parole right now.

The one incredibly funny aspect of some of these silly race cars is the bumpers notoriously falling off when going over a simple street bump.
Braking is always overlooked, but most important. There are appropriate places that exist for racing. The street is not one of them.
He forgot to mention ground effects.
they do a lot of this stuff for attention.
a mustang that they sell in the UK is not a very stable car, under heavy braking it goes sideways, and very difficult to control for a very experienced driver, it also won't turn a motorway corner over 60 without sever understear, I only had mine a week gave it back, went Audi instead, but what would posses parents to give a child a car that is fast? with crap handling? he got what he deserved
I appreciate his strong words against street racing. I have no respect for people who would risk innocent lives for a quick thrill.
And drunk drivers too.
But they can win the race!

@C L Except at crosswalks where it's legal to walk across the road??
@@NikkiC777 I believe if he bought the car himself that would be just another argument for racing ("I earned this so I deserve this")
@C L are you telling me you’ve never walked on a sidewalk next to a 40 mph street?

The only reason this chad is serving out a full sentence is because he managed to hit the only people who hold even more value than him, Stacy and baby. As tragic as this case is for everyone involved, they had to make an example out of him. Too many lives are destroyed because of people like that at the wheel. I think people are inclined to feel sorry for him because he's young and clearly didn't intend to kill anyone, but if it were my entire family wiped out by his actions I'd feel like justice was served.

The sentence was too short.
If it were my family member, it wouldn't make me feel any better to see his life ruined.
