"In a perfect world it would be based on performance" its always been based on performance.
Athletes pay is based on how much revenue they generate. Yes the US women’s team is best in the world but people care more about Men’s soccer.
The US women played the U15 Dallas soccer team and lost 5-2. They lost to 15 year old boys. That’s why Men’s soccer is better.
In a perfect world, if you really cared about the woman's soccer team. Then you would buy a ticket and go out and support that team. But since you don't we have reality! The problem is all the people who whine about the pay gap, but don't even put their own money where their mouth is. Trust me, the woman's soccer league would love to sell ever ticket. But people like you refuse to buy them and go!

the germans mens team took home 0.89 % of the money they generated from the world cup. the females usa team took home 2.1% of the money they generated from the womens cup. this is the only wage cap you should be looking at

You're being lied to about the pay gap with womens soccer. The women recieve employee benefits package and bonus structure that the men do not recieve. This was observed by a judge that dismissed the lawsuit. How about this: Split both the mens and womens apart into seperate organizations and should not rely on each other with no shared ties and see which goes under first.
Also they are getting a higher percentage of profits.

When bonus time comes the person who brings the company more money should get the higher payout. There is no incentive for anyone to sell if at the end of the day they are gonna get the same bonus.

Ok, sports gives too much money compared to useful professions that help society. There I would agree.
But when we all agree on sports as business, it is obvious why men get more than women, sorry. More tickets, more TV coverage, more fan sale... etc.
So does actors and artists...not just sports

The American Tax Payer has spent millions of dollars on these women. Despite these tax payer handouts they are still not generating enough revenue. The Australian women's national soccer team played against the Newcastle under 15's boys team. Amazingly the boys Amateur boys beat the professional women by 7 goals to zero.

Recent data from men and women world cup. Total market cap for men was 7.5B vs 1B. Prize money was 440M for men vs 30M for women. I havent even talked about the quality. Its painful to watch. The reason US women are so dominate is because there are only a handful of teams. Basically, the Women Semi-finals are the only entertaining part of the women world cup and next year its going to be worst as they expand the groups to include more women teams.
You have no clue how much harder it is for a man to make it as a professional player. How much more competition there is, how much more politics there are, how harder the pace of the game is. It is 100 times easier for a woman to be a pro and then play in the world cup where there isn't any competition.

I live in the Chicagoland area. Would I pay the same price for a ticket to a Minor League baseball game as I would for the Sox or the Cubs? Hell no! I realize the competition would be equal, but not the talent. Same thing for soccer, or any sport, at any level. I'll pay the big bucks to see the best.
If the USWNT can draw fans to the game, they'll get more money. Oh, how's that joke of the WNBA working out?! Subsidized by the NBA. Kick-ass clelebration/busride through Chicago last year... or was it the year before???

WHEN (and not if) Women's World Cup generates more revenue they will get paid more accordingly.
No one cares about women’s sports. Everyone arguing this can’t even name 5 players on the women’s team.
What these people are forgetting to mention is that the women players who filed the lawsuit aren't talking about men and women's soccer in general. The are talking about U.S. men's and women's soccer and they aren't talking about the World Cup. There are MANY interviews with the women and hey always mention these factors.

Do all male sports players get paid the same? Do all male tennis players get paid the same as Serena Williams? And why do these gender pay gap arguments only involve national teams?
How come it's so difficult to understand? Where should the money for women come from? Do men have to pay for it? Women if you wish to get paid then get more women to watch your games. Even the little money you make is because majority of your audience are men - so you're welcome :P

Pretty much both! Women's Soccer has never set attendance records. So therefor their tickets sell for a lot less. Men's soccer usually sells out in the first week. And there lies the rub. It is the fan's fault that women are paid less! Lets take Concert tickets as an example. Tailor Swift will sell out roughly in the first day so grass tickets at my local venue would cost about $125 at ticket master. But the Alice Cooper concert I went to sold grass tickets for $25 a week before the concert even took place. He just doesn't have the same draw even though I would never go to a Taylor Swift concert! And no matter the price of the ticket, Ticket Master will usually charge $20 surcharge per ticket for being the main supplier of tickets.
because nobody watches the womens game, they don't make enogh money, they don't make 1/4 of of the men make in revenue, they have higher pay rates, but nobody watches the women games, so they can't get paid, so what does that have to do with the men's games, the men's games bring in millions of dollars, the women are always at a loss.

* Is it better to have a salary of 1k, and than u lose health of 300 box and the costs to go to work/stay in a job of 2k, or have a work of 1 k with ZERO costs and benefits in health??
* Till 2005 in EU (Italy in particular) the market grows so much, that every scandal comes out every year

They don't want to get paid more by FIFA they want to get paid more by the federation which is both Men's and Women's USA teams organization they work for. They ones that pay them per game and for the work try put in. If you are going to talk crap do some research.

The women's team lost to a high school soccer team. If they were good people would be happy too pay to watch them but women's soccer is just bad. The only reason I watch them if I do is they are my countries team.
Do what they did with male Australian rugby and AFL Players when they made their shorts tighter and shorter to garner sex appeal for women to watch them play more as well as shorter sleeves so the men can show off their muscles more (I hear plenty of grateful women comment on this)
AND make the women's uniforms SEXIER to show off the women's ass shapes and figures more
And more men will tune in to watch women at these games
That's genuine equality
Because no one watches women’s sports.
