Ever since obtaining my Volvo XC90, I thought it would be a great car to do one of my 24 hour challenges in... I always wondered if I'd ever be able to get a bed in the car for one of these challenges, and well it appears I can!

I saw a great video for headlining fix - bloke attached a needle from a syringe to the can of 3M headliner adhesive. Worked a treat as no visible holes afterwards
Personally, I would get a Stanley knife and some spray glue. Cut down centre, spray the glue, press into place. Should keep it up for a while and cost very little.
I genuinely enjoy these videos. We had one before and watching you and your antics makes me want to get another one....as you said it, you become emotionally attached to them. Keep the videos coming, and have a great Xmas 🎉

Nothing wrong with getting emotionally attached to cars. Even old ones that aren't at their best. Get the barn!!

Sagging Headlining. Hi Joel, to fix your Headlining quickly and cheaply. Go to a DIY store like B & Q look for very small Phillips screws no more than 5mm length buy 40/50 of them.
Working from the edges of the interior screw them through the lining up into the backing material. Be careful not to go through any wires near lights and sensors.
I had the same problem on my 2002 V40 tried all different types of gules with no result. This method with screws has worked perfectly for over a year.

Hi, we used a mattress topper so had more head room, at night moved the front seats all way forward then use a caravan step to get in bed from rear side door, an you can put your shoes on floor behind front seats, also an electric blanket plugged into site electricity.
Great Joel, such a good idea to bung a good quality mattress into the back.

Love my xc90 executive mines the exact same colour as yours! Would be great for you to get the entertainment system back up and running because the subwoofer in the boot is unlike any stock sound system it’s awesome! Please do more content with the Volvo!

I have no idea if this would work but I thought maybe using a can of spray carpet glue that has the straw type nozzle . Make a few tiny holes to get the nozzle tube inside then spray some glue up towards the roof all around each area. Then push the head lining back up using your hands and try to get it all smooth. Not sure if that would work but it's something I would probably try as cheap and easy.

Great video. Always good to watch your videos, someone who talks with sense. Next time you do a 24 hour video in car, can you try uber or deliveroo saves you the ulez charge. Keep up the good work and videos.
@itsjoel Pretty sure one of the original design concepts for the Volvo 240 Estate (and subsequent 700/900 developments) was that two 6 foot (plus) adults could sleep stretched out in the back - I was lucky enough to have a tour of the Torslader production site way back where this was shared... Glad to see they have stayed true to this.

15:20 also Joel just to add... I was the same with McDonald's found it a pain they never did the no ice or extra cheese for example so I'd always go in. But recently I've been using the McDonald's app, order exactly what you want at home or whatever however long before, then when you pull up to the drive through, select "I'm here" or whatever it says and that's it they give you a 4 digit code you speak to the ordering microphone and that's it job done your order is all there and already paid for 👍
You can try turning your XC90 into an overlander and take it on some epic roadtrips. That might be an interesting purpose for this Volvo and it also gives you an opportunity to spend quality time with your wife.
I’ll drive anything anywhere.. as long as you have adequate breakdown cover you’ll be ok… I’ve converted a Ford galaxy to a camper and have used it all around the country.
A trip to Sweden would be awesome, just make sure you've decent breakdown cover. The trials and tribulations would make for good content IMO.

Ahhh I've been waiting for this video🤣 love these👍 me and my fiancée did this last year literally a mile away from our house just to sleep overnight like car Camping. Although it was a Peugeot 107, I'm 6"2 and she's 5"7.. it was not comfortable at all!🤣

Odometer is likely linked to the abs rings where the driveshafts are now effectively welded in. I know the XC60 is impacted by the abs sensors

I’ve had quite a few Volvos over the years( 740’s 940’s, 440’s 240’s, xc60) yes I’m old lol and I can honestly say what you put in you normally get back ten fold. This car has quite clearly never been loved…. 😕

I do love the Volvo but if you’re going to have to spend thousands on it to make it nice I would just say replace it with a nicer XC90. You can get a V8 executive for around £5k and that car is even faster than a V8S cayenne and can sound fantastic while keeping that lovely luxurious interior

This made me laugh.. i did this for 6 months in a ford galaxy with privacy glass all round. Firstly i saved a fortune, secondly it was a great experience.

Personally, i've always thought that you should really splash the cash on it, as it could repay itself, volvo has that reputation of long-lasting "bulletproof", reliability. And there's still stuff that is yet to be properly uncovered yet, the whole infotainment as just one clear example. - A roadtrip to Sweden could be great as a little channel special. However, I do know that it's coming up to being 10 years old now, and is it worth it...? And if you do celebrate it, I wish you a lovely xmas with your family. 🙂
I've had six volvos, all good except the xc90 d5 mine was 3 years old owned by a doctor and full main dealer history when i bought it, immaculate condition, i had it 6 years and in that time i spent 6 thousand on repairs, it was a manual, clutches very weak, it wouldn't back up a caravan the manual gearbox is like 2nd gear and not low enough, even on flat grass it couldn't cope, towing normally was fine just not backing up and the brakes were definitely released on the caravan, it's just the gearing in reverse is crap, also turbo blew, rear diff went faulty noisey bearing , then the diff electronics went, wheel bearings, alarm siren, etc etc, it was the worsed volvo i had, i wouldn't buy a volvo again, the auto boxes break aswell and the 4wd break, there not reliable at all, and it was mint and fully serviced.
