Wonder Egg Priority: A Unique Exploration of Mental Health

- Out of every new show I've seen this season, none has captured my attention and curiosity more than Wonder Egg Priority. Winter 2021 is definitely stacked with great new shows like SK8 the infinity and all the sequels airing right now (Attack on Titan, Re Zero Season 2, ect...) but if you have the time, be sure to put this one on your list! If you want to watch it, it's currently airing on Funimation.

A personal favorite depiction of mental health -- and of things like cult mentality, religious trauma, and disillusionment -- would probably be Fire Force. One character in particular is shown to have undergone an especially grueling psychological ordeal at the hands of someone loyal to the cult that serves as the primary antagonistic force in the narrative. Even a fair while after being physically freed from the object of her tortures, she still has flashbacks and shows a deep-seated fear of abandonment as well as displaying after-effects of relentless brainwashing.
A different character, a young child to be precise, displays crippling anxiety due to intense pressure by all adults around him, bordering on abuse from his parents and teachers. And after he gains special powers, he's also expected to excel with them as well. Despite also developing signs of PTSD to the point of hallucinations due to the circumstances in which his newfound powers came from. Of course, these factors of his incredibly splintered psyche do NOT mesh well with his powers, especially when their base is quite literally nuclear.
There are a few other examples of sociopathy or even psychopathy among various other people, but I'll leave it at that.
