- In this video, we inoculate a grain spawn bag using liquid culture. This is the same process when using a spore syringe.
Items you will need:
Sterilized Grain Spawn Bag
Liquid Culture or Spore Syringe
70% isopropyl alcohol wipes
Lighter
Gloves
Steps:
*Remove the bag from the packaging
*Unfold the bag and gently massage the bag to loosen the grain
*Wipe down the bag and all utensils with 70% isopropyl alcohol
*Inoculate your bag using a spore syringe via the self-healing injection port. Inject anywhere from 1-5 cc's per bag.
*Massage the bag to spread the solution around the grains.
*Set the bag aside in a dry, dark place for 5-10 days with an average temp of 78-80F
*Gently mix up the mushroom spawn to promote full colonization.
*Once fully colonized the bag may be used to spawn to coir or any other bulk substrate

I been using 2.5-3 cc of PE and my inoculation time is faster and I do a 1:3 sub and I get great result for my 3 ts run ever. Was gifted a 22 quart that was just harvested and dry I soak it for 1-2 hours and put another tote on top full of water hold down the pressure then drain it and let stay covered 10 day of so later it was ready to rock n roll and put it into fruiting condition and this flush is way better than I expected. I’m so hooked cause I grow other medical plants so it a no brainer but completely opposite then cannabis with temp and humidity so it a fine line but I got. Now I’ got 4 tubs all a little bit behind each other so I’m alway stocked up. I give most away but going canoing soon so I’m ego seating around the campfire.
Never wipe with alcohol after flame sterilization, only do one or the other and you're working under a lamanar flow hood and those syringes come sterile out the package nice work though keep it up
Great video! I appreciate The Wordless Way of Inoculation.
What was the point of mixing it up before inoculating?
That's what i came here for.. same answer??
I think it's to open up pathways of fresh air exchange (FAE) and let the filter patch do its job. Fungus takes in oxygen and produces CO2 just like us. FAE lets the oxygen in and the CO2 out. Myceliation will likely be much slower without FAE. I think you could also mix up the bag after inoculating.
Where do I store my syringe of liquid culture if I don’t use it all
Great quick video! How many cc's per 2lb bag do you recommend using?
Thank you! For a 2lb bag I would use 2-3cc's.
@@millikenmushroomsupply444 Thank you!🙏🏻 appreciate the help. Keep up the good work!
if i use like 5 its better or not?@@millikenmushroomsupply444
I made the mistake of thinking more is better and I didn't realize the precarious moisture balance which will be upset if you use to much!
Nice!!!
Hey ☝️☝️☝️☝️ look up the handle for grow kits spores shrooms etc
Is it necessary to keep changing the angle
Of the syringe? I saw some video that he injected the whole syringe into one spot.. and the results was perfect? Is it just an extra thing to do or
Does it barely
Matter as long as u mix massage rhe bag after?
how long can you store grain bags before use? will they start to grow contamination?
Properly sterilized bags should not grow contamination while being stored. However, because of the filter patch, the grains can begin to dry out if not used within a few weeks of manufacture. We store our bags in the fridge and recommend using them within 6 weeks. I hope this helps!
be careful as some are not edible. I got good recommendations and guideline on psychedelic from mycozabo 🆙⬆️👆. He sells and also grows.
why did the grain change color/appearance after you wiped the bag with alchohol??
If my spawn bag is full of air is that an issue?
Well you probably know by now but no they can fill up with air. Just make sure it didn't happen because you have hole somewhere in the bag. Mine seem to gain air over time. If it happens immediately while shaking it then it's probably a hole .
Bruh, why did you wipe the needle after sterilizing it? You're NOT supposed to do that. >:(
I assume it’s to wipe away the soot.
@Barry Weaver aren’t they assuming exposure to the surface of the container housing the culture & exposure to the air is what is potentially contaminating ?
@@Lalovision3D soot is sterile
@Barry Weaver while that's true, you should treat almost everything as a potential carrier of bacteria. What if this culture was shipped and the package got a teeny tiny hole during shipping, the culture would be fine but the needle could and prob would be compromised.
@Barry Weaver yeah for humans with robust immune systems? Idk what you're getting at but mycelium at this stage is at high risk for contamination, unlike when they're actually fruiting mushrooms. You can't apply a doctors sterile practices on humans to mushroom cultivation. I just started and even I know that. It's better to be safe than sorry rhan know your batch got contaminated bc you're too arrogant and lazy to sterilize everything. Goodbye
Great video! How many cc’s do you recommend for 3lb All-In-One bags?
Well the OP of the vid commented 2-3 CC's for a 2lb bag so for a 3lb bag I would naturally assume 3-4cc's
I however use 5+ if I use more tends to colonize bit faster
I got 1.6 gram bag and added 10cc of spore from a syringe have i messed up@XChromEmo666X
Are the bags in the video sealed with a thermal sealer or due to PCing?
Thermal
Do you need a still air box or HEPA filter to do this type of inoculation?
No just be clean
It's not 100% necessary, but for best results, I suggest at least a SAB. I've done it without either successfully, but better to be safe than sorry.
How much do you recommend for a 3lb bag
Charlesmyco_ got some shrooms and spawn bags, I suggest you hit him up
Awesome video man! Question...I've got a spore syringe (not a liquid culture). Can I inoculate my spawn bag with the spore syringe? And will it colonize?
I just read the description and I think it answered my question. You can! Awesome. Any feedback and tips you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks man. Subbed
@@barryweaver6294 Yea I've learned a few things. I usually go spore or LC to agar to make sure it's not contaminated. Then I go to grains. Thanks for answering though!
