Thank you so much for all this information, this is the year I am expanding my gardening to the mushroom world. So much for me to learn and I am so glad I have found your channel.
I’m Just starting out in this mushroom cultivation thing. Thank you so much for the very on point tips, without getting off topic, and by disseminating (genuinely!) free knowledge on how to keep us on a budget in the growing steps that really matter (ie. getting a spawn ready and most importantly multiplying the liquid culture). You seem very passionate about what you do, and pretty much in the spirit of open science. I’ll be very pleased with myself if I can be even half as helpful to someone else in providing clear and firsthand knowledge as you have been to me so far. Thanks man!
Love your channel! What type of alcohol do you use in your lamps? I remember watching a video of yours one night that mentioned it but I can't remember which one!
Thank you for your very clear and complete videos. One thing confuses me. In this video it seems you suggested that a culture syringe can “last for many years” in the fridge. But, in another video, you said a jar of culture (also kept in a fridge), would only be viable for a couple of months or so. I don’t understand why there would be a difference. Is it because of the (presumably sterile) air that is in the jar? Thx.
Hi... recently i made some lc of blue Oyster mushroom. Used them on grain jar . They colonized nicely. Then i stored the syringes in ziplock bag in a fridge. After 2 week when i used them again, all the jars got contaminated by the same mold . Help me...
Hi, sorry to hear that you ran into mold problems. First of all, it happens to everyone! Don't get discouraged. Without more information, it's impossible to know for sure where the mold got in. But my first guess is the needle... did you use a fresh, pre-sterilized needle for the second round of inoculations? Because of the plastic connector, it is difficult to flame sterilize the needle. You can put it in the pressure cooker with your grain jars to re-sterilize it. My second guess is the cap. Leaving the cap on the counter then putting it back on the syringe can be a point of entry. Hope that helps!
@@_fungaia Thank you for your advice. I think the second one may be the reason for contamination and I will change my sterile procedures to avoid contamination next time.
Hey man, we use unicorn bags and add the injection ports. We use those little rubber furniture buttons you can buy that go on like cabinet doors. Hope this helps!
I have a lc syringe of Oyster mushroom. First I tested it on sterilised wheat grain in a test tube . After seeing healthy growth I used it to inoculate 3 jars of sterilised wheat grain. Even after a week no growth. But the test tube is completely colonised now. What could be the reason?
Did you prepare the test tube and the jars exactly the same? If the grain was overcooked it could lean to a no-grow. Also, if you have an older, thinner LC and don't mix the syringe, you can end up dumping all of the mycelium in one go and the rest is just water.
@@_fungaia out of 20 jars only 3 jars showing no growth. A week ago I again inoculated it with another lc along with other 10 jars but still these 3 jars showing no growth but the rest is growing normally. I still remember good amount of mycelium getting transferred into all 3 jars . I used the same syringe to make a fresh lc and the lc is growing. Jars don't look like bacterial.
@@ah1864 Sounds to me like an issue with those jars. When you open them up, smell them to see if biological contaminants are present (they won't necessarily be visible). Chemical contamination is also a possible explanation.
Oh my gosh. This guys got everything on his channel. The answers to all the questions no body talks about
Yes!! 🙌 Paul is quite amazing!!!!

I wish i had found your channel first, before i seen others. I could've avoided a few issues and had confidence at times i didn't.
Man you've taught me so much more than hundreds of hours of research, you're a fantastic teacher and it's appreciated ❤
Really appreciate what y'all are doing! 🙏💙🍄
Wow. Great stuff man. I can’t wait to see what you will be doing as time goes on. The improvement curve of this channel has been incredible.
I already know all of this but I still watch the whole video just because you have a very entertaining way of teaching. 💙 True Blue
Great content! And I'm very happy about the purchase I made from TBG using your discount code. The lion's mane LC is growing fast in my jars.
Glad to hear it!
True Blue Genetics is fantastic for LCs, mine have taken off in a week!!!
Awesome!
Great videos, inspired me to try again after a few disappointing attempts in the past.
Fantastic Paul - Excited to start growing for personal health & to help out my local community. Cheers from Stanwood, WA ! 🍻

DUDE! I LOVE the old-school style into! love your videos man keep up the great work!
Hands down my favorite mushy page!! Thanks Paul!
Excellent video. Where can i see your video on making liquid culture from one LC syringe? TY.
Paul, I have to say, you have me excited for the next video already! Much love brother 🍄👍🏼 the hair flicks between cuts 😂😂
Thanks bro! Yo were like twins in that movie but your the smart one, so I'm going to get my grain from you.
You’re the best

I'm your new biggest fan
Also, where can i purchase an alcohol flame?
Never mind. I found one on Amazon.

What you have in jars?
Almost always the best idea is to use rye grain. Brown rice works well too
Where do you get your spawn bags with injection ports?

@_fungaia thanks! What size spawn/grow bags do you guys do for best yields? Like 10lb, 5lb, etc? Thanks 😊

Is there a reason for using 70% alcohol specifically? Can you use 91% or is there an issue with that?
The less watered down the alcohol the better IMO unless it is an issue with the vessel material.
@@DendriticFractals What I've learned is that 70% evaporates slower than 91% and therefore has more time to be effective at killing bacteria.
