20 years ago I discovered a lump while checking my pulse on a run. Checked it out and found out I had them, biopsy showed follicular cells in the nodule. They said due to the size it would be good not to wait, but I could if I wanted to, since the cells were benign, but the could turn malignant over time. I was worried about cancer, since my family has a history of thyroid issues, so I had half the thyroid removed. During surgery they examined the other side and found very small nodules and they told me to keep an eye on it. Fast forward to today, I am going to get the other side biopsies done today on 3 of them. I think I'm taking my daughter's sensory squishy ball with me... 😬 Good luck and thank you for sharing! I'm going to finish your video and see what you did before I get my results. 🌞
I hope your biopsy results came back good and that you don't have to undergo surgery again. In my case, I also have a family history of thyroid issues. I have Hashimoto's, bilateral nodules, all benign except for one, very small (0.8cm) that came back suspicious for papillary cancer (Bethesda V). I proceeded to get an Afirma test to confirm the FNA results, but it came back N/A. That means the sample collected was not enough due to the size of the nodule or that that the sample was not properly handled in the lab and therefor, the test couldn't be performed. I heard about RFA treatment for thyroid nodules and went to the only doctor that performs RFA in my country. He told me that in order to be eligible my nodules have to be benign and 2cm or bigger, so this is not for everyone unfortunately. At this point, my doctor informed me that the course of treatment for me is remove part or all the thyroid gland because the probability that I have Papillary thyroid cancer is 74% as per the FNA results. I have decided to go for a total thyroidectomy after considering that Hashimoto's diseases may have treatment but not cure and not only will eventually end up destroying my thyroid gland, but it also predisposes me for nodules and cancer. Removing part of the thyroid does not exempt me of ending up taking hormone replacement medication for life. However, it could be an option for me to preserve certain gland function but since I already have developed nodules in both lobes of my thyroid, the probability that I may need a second surgery to remove the other side it's pretty high given the above described. The surgery is scheduled by the end of this month, and I hope that I have made the right call. :(
OMG this is gold, thank you! I just got back from hospital where they told me they incidentally noticed, while doing a CT scan on my ribs, that my goitre has grown down into my chest further. And I've been living with a 5cm diameter nodule and many other smaller ones for over 10 years. Had problems since my teens, like you. Private endo said to take the whole gland out, public endo said half the gland. I don't want surgery. So info, stories and lived experiences lke this is gold! Thank you!
It may be possible for you to pursue a thermal ablation procedure, but it will probably take multiple procedures as mine did. They will have to treat you in stages and wait for the nodule to move upward. In the near future, I will be doing a video on thyroid arterial embolization, which is another nonsurgical technique now available for very large nodules. I'm sorry you are dealing with that, as I know how bad it can feel to have all that pressure in your throat. I pray that you find the right physician and treatment path for you. You can find out who is a provider of these treatment options at our website saveyourthyroid.org.
Thank you for making these videos. My regular Dr. Felt a small nodule and ordered an ultrasound. It showed multiple suspicious nodules. I was referred to a thyroid surgeon I thought just for a consult. However When I was scheduled for a 1.5 hour appointment which included a ultrasound guided biopsy. I have PTSD from a sexual assault by a massage therapist. I was totally triggered by thinking about this procedure. However I worked with my therapist, a psychologist, and the PA from the surgeons office to develop a plan to undergo the biopsy. I had the biopsy and the results were indeterminate. By then I had done my research! I heeded my research that said don’t jump to removal of thyroid, simply based on i determinate results! There were other options including RFA. But also there was the option of ordering molecular level testing of the biopsy! However the surgeon said he preferred to just remove the thyroid. When I asked about molecular testing he said he didn’t do those tests, he prefers just to remove it! Keep in mind I had NO symptoms! My thyroid blood work was borderline normal but slightly low potassium. He was really pushing me to get surgery. He tried to scare me! He said I could end up on dialysis due to kidney failure, I could get osteoporosis, I am a very large boned woman not a typical candidate for osteoporosis but I am a post menopausal woman in my 60s. So we schedule a bone scan, but I continued to refuse surgery at this point. He was not happy and frustrated with me! I was angry and scared. I asked him about RFA and he said “I don’t like that procedure. It rips up your thyroid and tears it all up. AND he said, if you are worried about pain from removal, that is nothing, but an RFA has a very, very painful recovery! Obviously he was not trained in RFA! I repeated I was refusing surgery at this point. That nothing indicated this was any type of emergency, and at the very least I wanted to do nothing for the next year! I left. About 30 minutes later his nurse called me and said, well since you are refusing surgery, the doctor decided he would order the molecular level testing, and he recommended I start on Vitamin D3. He wanted me to have a repeated needle biopsy in 3 months. I was done with him. He tried to manipulate me, he tried to scare me, and he was not current on alternative treatments! I contacted the nurse later and said I no longer wanted him as my doctor! I asked my regular doctor to refer me to the University of Michigan, which is only 2 hours away and their ent department does RFA! So now I am waiting to schedule my first intake with them. I still have no symptoms, I can’t feel or see any nodule. I believe the biggest it was only 2 cms. I am furious with this surges . Supposedly he is the premiere and most experienced thyroid doctor in our medium sized town of Kalamazoo Michigan! I keep toying with the idea of filing some kind of complaint against him for very unprofessional behavior! But I am going to wait and see what my doctor at the U of M says! Anyway, because of your early videos and some others I was able to stay firm and ask questions and so far s kid surgery and life long medications. I feel fine! Thank you for sharing your story!
Thanks for your knowledge...im suffering with my thyroid now. .I have a huge goiter on the left side as well a left nodule.I was told right before Covid I was told surgery was necessary.. I knew it was other options...I have yet 2 have it biopsyed..
I had my Dr appointment today and was told that I wasn't a candidate for any of these procedures. So glad I found this video. I feel my Dr is just not listening to me or educated enough about this process. Thank you ☺️
Read my comment above! I have had the same experience. What I found out is my doctor wasn’t trained in any of these other options, nor did he refer me to other doctors that were. He just kept saying The surgery is no big deal. Recovery is easy and painless and It was a quick outpatient procedure! What I “heard” was this type of surgery if a cash cow for his practice and is super simple for him to do! Stand firm and research other options!
@@griffe4045can you please share information about where you are getting this done and what the doctors name is please. I have been having great difficultly finding a doctor that can do this for me?
My ENT told me the same thing, that I'm not a candidate for RFA. He said RFA was only performed on certain patients.. Unfortunately I don't remember what types of patients he was talking about but I'm Hyperthyroid with a large goiter. Thank you for your story and all the best to you and your family. I'll be looking for a new emt...
Getting your thyroid on track is extremely complex. I've had to eliminate lots of things from my diet - even things that are very healthy for people who don't have hypothroidism - like blueberries (night shades), 100% dark chocolate (caffeine), sweet potatoes (starch), red peppers (night shades.) Then there are the usual crappy foods, like sugar & processed foods. Also eliminate any foods you're allergic to. For me, that meant chicken; eggs & chicken bone broth. Raisins have been extremely helpful, as has apple cider vinegar to keep metabolism on track. Carrots help your eyes. Your gut health is critical to stabilizing your thyroid.
I looked into RFA in Phoenix because I have many small nodules. I was not a candidate because they were too small, but yet I can feel them and they cause sleep apnea and swallowinig problems. I miraculously found infared laser treatment or low level laser treatment and it has greatly reduced my nodules and I am sleeping well now.
Thankyou so much for standing up and helping others to know there are other effective options than the most extreme like surgery- that they do a lot. In 2018, i was researching this and tried to tell people in FB groups. Much love to you!!! You’re amazing, Jen.
Thank you for bringing hope! I've had my thyroid removed by RAI ( radio active Iodine) I to have issues with Dr. that either don't understand how important it is to take Full measure on other blood testing for labs . And now a mess swelling ,hard to swallow, digestive issues, brain fog, etc. Thank You again Allic from Okla.🦋
I have to say you are one of the strongest persons I’ve seen❤ Sending you lots of love!! I have been experiencing fatigue like you mentioned and all my Thyroid values are normal but borderline low, I also have a couple of nodules on my thyroid which my endocrinologist says they will just “monitor” them and refuses to investigate further. Very frustrating when you don’t feel heard…
Thank you for sharing your story! I am having a needle biopsy in the next week or two to see what this fairly large lump on my thyroid is…cancer or not. Your story is helping me feel more at ease in this first steps of this exploration. It is good to know there might be options to discern. Keeping my spirits up. Thank you again!
Thank you SO much for sharing this story! Bless you. Just told today I've got lump in thyroid & enlarged lymph nodes. The C word was mentioned. I'm in shock.
Jen, I can't believe how similar our stories are! I need to know WHY and it seems like no one cares -- just get it removed and take a pill for the rest of your life. My Endo told me their surgeon "is the best and leaves the smallest scar" They sent me for an ultrasound and a surprise FNA (they told me I needed it for my surgery - I never said I would have the surgery) which I declined. I still have my large goiter and nodules (going on for at least 15 years) and just found your videos. I'm hoping it will give me some information that can reassure me of the right route to take as it is beginning to really bother me. I fear they will mess up and, like yours was, have moved my trachea/esophagus over. I also fear the risk of not being to talk after surgery. I don't trust them. I hate going to my PCP because that is all that is talked about - even when I have other issues. It's sooooo frustrating. Oh and my TSH and other numbers are always great.
It is not as simple as having surgery and taking a pill, you could go through countless pill before you find the right one for your body and encounter lots of problems from the ones that did not work. Dont let these Drs think not decide for you.
I'm happy I came across this video! Thank you for sharing your story ❤️. I have a 5cm nodule on my left side and my thyroid levels have always been normal. I live in Canada and RFA has just started to become available and I have my appointment in 4 weeks. How long was your recovery after RFA? Were you able to go back to your regular activities a few days or a week after?
Thank you so much for sharing your story and research. I also was so surprised at the indifference I felt from the endocrinologists i have seen (three) and was so nervous to have the surgery they all suggested and go on thyroid medicine for the rest of my life. I just made an appt to see a Dr who does RFA - thank you!!!!!
Ladies read Suzanne Somers books. Excellent Excellent information. She talks to a lot of doctors who really know there business about medical info. I have learned so much. Read her book A New Way To Age. Good health to all!
Thank you so much for creating this content. Just discovered my own nodule and heading for first ultrasound next week. I'm feeling better equipped for asking questions that I wouldn't have known to even ask.
Thank you for sharing your story. You did a fabulous job managing your health issues and sharing this with the world. Superstar. Congratulations and thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey, so glad you are better. I'm going through the exact types of consults with ENTs now. My large benign thyroid levels are normal They just want to do surgery. I'm researching now.
Jen, thank you so much for making your experience public. I have learned so much and I am going to have to have the same treatment. I have both sides of my neck now pretty swollen and I saw your UA-cam with Dr. Richard Harding in Arizona. My question is I have a son that lives in Virginia? I’m up in Alaska, comparing the doctors experience, would you recommend your doctor? If so, I’d love their information. I’m going to need to do something probably sooner than later.
Hi Jen. Would you please give me information and how to reach doctor who did PFA procedure. I have slightly bigger 8,3 nodule. Would like to consult with you doctor. Thanks
His name is Dr. Auh Whan Park and he is at UTSW in Dallas, TX. Please visit our site and scroll down to find his contact information. www.saveyourthyroid.org/2023/02/find-thermal-ablation-provider.html
Very interesting. I have a large nodule on my thyroid and will see my doctor next Wednesday. Hopefully this information will help us make a decision on treatment. Thanks for the interesting video.
I'm so glad it was helpful. Please let me know of I can offer any further insights. I have interviewed many drs and some patients on this channel about their experience. Also, our Save Your Thyroid community may be a helpful resource to you. Saveyourthyroid.org
Thanks so much for this video, I have multiple nodules and they want to do surgery and I am not keen, I am going to see if I can find this treatment in Australia. You are amazing.
Thank you for all the information. I’m in Middle Tennessee and just found out a couple months ago that I have a substantial nodule. PCP sent me for an ultrasound after noticing it in palpitation. Ultrasound found it was fairly large so the PCP sent me to an ENT which scheduled me for a biopsy. Thankfully it came back benign but they will keep an eye on it. PCP says not to worry unless you start having issues swallowing. ENT didn’t think I needed to do iodine or any supplements. I’m going to check my last potassium levels and make sure they are adequate. Had issues after Bariatric surgery in 2010 which puts my absorption of vitamins to a minimum. Which I take allot of. Thanks again and I will continue researching.
Thank you so much for this information. Unfortunately I had my left thyroid removed few days back and I feel helpless. Nevertheless…. this information of yours may help me guide other peopl♥️
I still believe its very multifactorial and differs from person to person. But I am learning that insulin resistance plays a big role. I'm hoping to make a new video on this soon.
Your part of the story where your first Dr gaslit you and said you could just forget about it if you choose is exactly what happened to me. I had a biopsy, found out it wasn't cancerous and no one bothered asking any other questions till 7 years later I finally got my Dr to listen when I said it was getting bigger again! So I see an endocrinologist Sept 4 months later after the ultrasound sound shows I have a moderately suspicious nodule inside my original nodule now. 😔
Jen, I myself have four large nodules and thinking about the PEI procedure with Dr Augustine Andrade if I can’t find someone closer to me here in Oklahoma. Do you know if any doctor in my area. Thank you and I have been watching you’re videos.
@@ItsmeJenagain I did talk with Dr Andrade nurse yesterday and we went over all my ultrasound and biopsy reports, I’m not a candidate for the PEI . She talked to me about the RFA, not sure I’m ready for that though. Thank you so much for all you’re findings. ❤️
Thank you for giving me hope and courage Im the Netherlands i watched this video last night before my FNA, i was sacred to death but it gave me courage. I did my FNA today the Radiologist encouraged too me by saying its like those picks one does to the finger and true it was though i could feel them moving the needle to take samples.I have noodle on both sides of my thyroid, one 1/5 and the other 1.2. On the 1.5 they had to do it twice for they said it was not clear. Felt like when you poke a balloon and i saw some blood on the needle. The process was tolerable but it was the idea of putting an injection on my neck that was scary.Coming from Kenya one is traumatized as a child from the many vaccinations
Hello! I'm a few months from my 60th birthday and so glad to have stumbled across your video during my research. Upon hearing of your experience, I got a bit emotional because I have the same exact symptoms with similiar experiences in search for answers. I'm so tired of feeling exhausted, the weight gain, puffy face or the having to prop pillows so I can sleep without feeling like I'm going to suffocate or even picking up my arms over my head. What has happened to this body of mine! I have been feeling lost, alone with not getting solid answers from my doctor, but im determined. It wasnt until I went to see a dermatologist that noticed and questioned my huge lump in my neck and told me to see an ENT Dr right away, as she was jotting down the doctors name. She asked, what has your dr done about this? In short, I told her blood work and ultrasounds, to have surgery, or change my diet. Im also pre diabetic. I now have an appt in two weeks and finally feel, I may get some answers or a solution I'm comfortable with. I have a working thyroid and 3 nodules varying in size from 4 to 5cm since my last ultrasound a month ago. I just knew there were alternative options to surgery, which has been a solid NO for me which would come with taking lifelong medication. I also was not taking a radio active pill that was recommended at one point. Hence, the researching. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It gave me the insight i needed to prepare myself for this upcoming visit.
Thank you for this information,it seems like all the doctors want to do is remove the thyroid, this video gave me additional information and questions to ask my now third endocrinologist in upcoming appointments.
If you want to pursue a nonsurgical treatment option, I would encourage you to seek a consult with drs who are known to offer it (RFA, laser, MWA, etc). If they don't offer it, they are unlikely to recommend it. We have a list of physicians offering these procedures at saveyourthyroid.org.
Glad I came across this video just had my biopsy and found out it was not cancer, but I was freaking out due to surgery I just had recently of the colon so when I found out this was not I was grateful to God.
Hi Jen, My daughter has Hashimotos, and she has nodules on her thyroid. I'm really worried for her. Can she have the RFA treatment with her having Hashimotos? Thank you sooo much for taking the time to make and share all this incredibly helpful information. xxxx
Hashimoto's doesn't usually keep patients from being able to have RFA. Best to consult with a physician who can evaluate your daughter and give a definitive answer. You can find a list of known nonsurgical physicians at saveyourthyroid.org.
Hi what would work for papillary thyroid cancer? I honestly don’t want thyroid removed and take medication for the rest of my life. Surgery in removing it is what they want & saw another video where a woman completely lost her voice due to nerve damage. Thank you!
Some papillary patients are a candidate for thermal ablation (RFA, microwave, laser). Check out my thyroid cancer playlist to learn more: ua-cam.com/play/PL5tSaOk33p79pNzI2Md7pYra2tE2xRZN0.html&si=Gi7BS_holWRSVp8W
I can't make recommendations, but I can point you to our list of known physicians offering thermal ablation at saveyourthyroid.org. Also, you can join our fb community and ask there about other patients' experience with drs in that area.
I have 5 thyroid nodules 2 look suspicious on ultrasound I go in November 6th for a biopsy. I also have atherosclerosis. Not a fan of chemo or radiation. If it is cancer I do want to do something and not let it spread either. All my labs and thyroid levels are excellent and I'm asymptomatic. Any suggestions?
I would suggest you wait and see what the biopsy results are. You may not need to do anything. But if action is necessary, then reach out to one of the drs on our list of physicians at saveyourthyroid.org.
Thank you for this, I'm in question myself about thyroid issues. It's been going on over a month. I've not even started looking into it yet. I was wondering if my symptoms would go away. So I've decided to watch some videos and come across yours. Hope all is well 🙏
Thank you for your videos. I have no one to speak about my big thyroid nodule with that can understand my symptoms. I now have a RFA procedure scheduled for July 8th after many doctors appointments of hearing my only choice was to remove it. Did you experience any hair loss from your nodule? Some of my doctors say that it won’t fix that.
I have a nodule and they did an aspiration biopsy. The initial result was atypical but not cancerous, but the genome sequencing said I had the gene for the nodule being greater than 95% being papillary cancer or that it would become. Is there still hope to save my thyroid? They want to remove it all! Thank you for sharing your story.
What type of genome testing did you undergo? You may want to watch the episode I recorded about a new molecular test that is specific to papillary thyroid cancer: ua-cam.com/video/FBOApzdP9aI/v-deo.htmlsi=RRq9Im6WGcgUQwKK
I have 6 cm nodules as well, I saw the Dir of Endocrinology at NYU but he told me RFA for thyroid is not covered by insurance or medicare it costs $5000 or more out of pocket. do you have any information on insurance coverage?
It has been a bit of a toss up with insurance. Many people pay out of pocket, and the costs in comparison to a covered surgery can actually be comparable. When you consider than and the costs in quality of life, many patients opt for RFA or other nonsurgical options.
I am glad I found your video but am aware of RFA and found a doctor in Miami that does RFA. The problem is, it's going to cost me $950 for examination and if I am a candidate, it will cost $6500. They told me no insurance cover this procedure in the country. Is this true?
Some drs only accept cash for RFA as insurance coverage is very inconsistent. There currently is no billing code for RFA. Laser does have a code and can be submitted, but coverage is not guaranteed.
@@ItsmeJenagain can Rfa treatment useful Post removal of thyroid due to medullary carcinoma but blood levels still not normal post surgery...how to become cancer free in such case..will Rfa help
Hi Jen I messaged you with other video u made..pls help me. Hi Jen, please help me....I am scheduled for Surgery this coming August 31 2023. Im so stressed today receiving the call from the government hospital of Australia that I am already scheduled for my Surgery. So today I'm starting to read and research topics relating to thyroid and I found 2 topics and one of it is yours. I am willing to pay if RFA is the best option. Currently I'm here in South Australia. Starting to find physician or hospital that offer this procedure. I am delighted to hear this story I am crying now how happy I am to find you and sharing this issue. Please enlighten me 😭😭🙏
Hi Jen tnx a lot for the reply..it is really appreciated.. I will watch that video. I am from South Australia, Adelaide is my state. If I could find somewhere here I will let you know.
I have had a lump on my thyroid for almost twenty years now. I did go to the doctor at first. They did tests and gave me radioactive iodine to take images of it. Then they said i needed to have it removed. I actually went to see the surgeon and got a really bad feeling about it. So using my instincts i walked out and here I am all these years later just fine. They actually wanted to remove it before even doing a biopsy. I never even got an answer whether it was cancer or not. I am not telling anyone to do what I did. Use your instincts and do what is best for you
I agree that everyone has to do what they feel is best and right for them. There is no one-size-fits-all method that is best. That being said, I hope your nodule isn't causing you any problems and that you continue to be well.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I've had Hashimotos for 10 yrs and struggle a lot with getting the right meds combination and dose. Will ask my doc about LDN. I just found out I have a nodule and am wondering if you discovered why they develop and what we can do to prevent it from growing.
I wish we knew a way to ascertain what the direct causes of our nodules are. Unfortunately, there isn't any test for that yet. I have my suspicions about my root causes, and they are a combination of factors: Nutrient deficiencies, endocrine disruptors, toxins, and metabolic dysfunction.
Thank you very much for the answer) I really appreciate it, I googled yesterday to see if they are doing this procedure in Germany or Italy so I saw it is not so common, but they did some trials on 67 people and 64 was successful, I am wondering why my doctor was insisting for surgery but didn’t mention wandering about alternatives
I’ve had my thyroid removed on the left side 32 years ago and my right one I’ve always had goiters I seen my endocrinologist the other day he felt something said it could be lymphoma then he went to it could just be another goiter I have a ct scan Monday I’m not sure what all this means he told me not to worry but how can you not anyone else experience this? Thank you.
Most nodules are benign and about 5 to 10 percent are cancerous. Some small cancers can be treated with thermal ablation. I have several videos on this channel where I discuss this with different experts.
@@ItsmeJenagain Thx...i had MRI they said cancer...want to remove whole thyroid. Never mentioned any alt treatments. Go for 2nd opinion in 2 weeks. Been losing my voice since 2021. It has came back a little while taking, pro-biotics, sea moss, Kelp.

Do you have any doctors in India on your list ? I've had Hashimotos for a few years and was recently diagnosed witj a solid thyroid nodule less than 1cm. My prolactin and ige levels are also high, could there be a relationship in your research ? Please help me out
Saveyourthyroid.org is where we keep the list of drs. Yes, there are drs in India offering RFA and MWA. I don't know about those other hormones. Have they evaluated your parathyroid glands also?
How many people are getting denied by their insurance to cover RFA??? I had an Edno tell me I was NOT a candidate for RFA, but everywhere I can receive treatment has said I am, in fact, the perfect candidate, but the kicker, these places charges out of pocket rates of $5k to $10k.
It's not always covered by insurance yet, but some drs will help patients with submitting it to your insurance company. Consider the out of pocket costs with a covered surgery. Many patients will pay similar out of pocket for RFA, and won't lose their thyroid, need lifetime meds, or have their health suffer as a result.
I started the process of filing for a 2nd opinion outside of my insurance network. The Endo that told me I wasn't a candidate called me out of the blue a few days after I filed. She now says that based on my tsh being undetected, I am at high risk of having RFA risks like bleeding or some other thing. She said I could have RFA done once my tsh levels stabilize by taking Methimazole. I am still questioning everything she is saying! Never have I found risk factors for treating one hot almost completely solid 3.5 cm nodular by RFA. Not one performing place has asked for lab work. This medicine can totally induce HYPothyroidism and that's what I've been kicking and screaming about NOT wanting! Any advice or experiences with this??
@GuShiNgPRinCesS it's quite common practice to stabilize TSH before treating with thermal ablation. This is to prevent a thyroid storm. I don't know a connection between low TSH and bleeding risk though. It may be good to get opinions from other providers who offer the procedure so you can have peace of mind.
@ItsmeJenagain I just wanted to say thank you for your correspondence! I have been traveling down a Google rabbit hole ever since I was given treatment options that seemed silly crazy. Self advocating is a MUST, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one who dives into the whirlwind of the emotional trial of questioning what doctors say! I am giving this medication a shot in hopes my TSH will go up and it will grant me RFA! God bless you for caring!!
Good day Mam. Just saw your you tube video about saving your thyroid. Is there any possibility that i can get in touch with. Im from south Africa but im in Spain for 6 months. In the last 3 months i had uneplained constipation and doctors couldnt find out what is wrong with me. So they did a topl test to test for HP pylori and a bloodtest. The stooltest was negative but they found something in my thyroid. Doctor just said it its something minor thats why she will not prescribe me something. Now i have difficulty swallowing, i basically have all the hashimoto symptoms except for weight gain. I dont know what to do anymore. These doctors cant speak english fluently. Is that way that someone can just guide me plz. Ive change my diet also, cut out gluten dairy and carbohydrates, but im feeling worst day to day. Please help
It varies based on many factoes. It depends on where you go for treatment, what type of treatment you pursue, whether or not you choose conscious sedation, etc.
My FNA came as atypical cells. My nodule is on left side 3.5cm or around that. Doctor wants to take my whole thyroid out. My hormones are all okay. I am researching as much as I can.
I have a nodule left side 3cm. I've had two FNAs. The first came back atypical and the doctor wanted to remove my half of my thyroid. I requested a 2nd FNA with genetic testing. Currently waiting on results. I feel the doctor is pushing surgery without exploring options. I'd recommend you ask alot of questions and don't feel pressured to make decisions immediately. Take care. Pray that you're doing well.
@@sheadjustedhercrown1633 I went for a second opinion and they told me to do another biopsy, not a fine needle. I just want to take the nodule out, cause it can turn cancerous. So now I don’t know what to do. I hope you feel better and keep us updated with your results.
It really depends on other factors. We have seen very large masses be accepted for treatment and small ones denied. You would need an evaluation from a provider who offers the procedure to determine if you are a candidate.
I’ve been back & forth to Dr’s for the past 2 years I live in uk Just keep being given more blood test’s I insisted last year something be done about my symptoms I had MRI & cat scan back then I only found out after worsening symptoms this week that that they found nodule’s on my thyroid and didn’t even tell me until a few days ago They just kept saying all tests are normal Clearly they are not Now once again they have just arranged for me to make an appointment with a hospital that is several miles away from me for the same tests I’ve already had I feel like I’m banging my head against a brick wall here I’ve never heard of the treatment you had And don’t think we have that option over here
I know your frustration, and I have heard similar complaints from other patients in the UK. There are some drs offering nonsurgical treatment at Royal Berkshire hospital now, although many UK patients travel to other countries in Europe for treatment. You can find a list of known nonsurgical thyroid physicians at saveyourthyroid.org.
I’ve been searching everywhere for information on how to avoid thyroid removal. Now I’m seeing this 14 hours to late.Dr have been watching ,measuring,, biopsies etc since June 2020. I had multiple cyst an nodules also growing in the air way. Mine was not visible noticeable even when I told my family doctor that I was having drainage, coughing and feeling of choking. She massaged my thyroid area an could not feel them. Told me to take some medicine for sinus drainage. Wasn’t until my spine doctor ordered an MRI in 2020 that they noticed 8 nodule at the back of my throat.each ultrasound after the first one they were larger and always more in numbers. The last one I had the tech said that I have so many nodules an cyst that I am no longer counting them
I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling. But it's very likely you would not have been a candidate for a nonsurgical treatment option in your particular case. Take care and focus on recovering from your surgery. 🙏
Sometimes thyroid cancer can be treated. Papillary thyroid cancer, 1 to 2 cm in size, no lymph node involvement, in a favorable location can be treated with thermal ablation.
Thank you, Lord, for leading this woman to this amazing blessed and highly favored doctor who helped this woman.
Wow, thank you!

I'm glad i found this. My thyroid is growing.
I have thyroid noodle but am afraid of the surgery what can I do
Thank you SO MUCH! I have multiple nodules, but do not want surgery. Your story gives me hope. ❤
I'm so glad you did your own research and advocated for yourself!
Do you mind me asking who doc was in Kalamazoo? I’m in grand rapids
Thanks for your knowledge...im suffering with my thyroid now. .I have a huge goiter on the left side as well a left nodule.I was told right before Covid I was told surgery was necessary.. I knew it was other options...I have yet 2 have it biopsyed..
The medical system is broken and they are taught to treat symptoms and either medicate or do surgery.
how many IU of Vitamin d3 should one take?
I was told twice that RFA was not an option for me. Well, guess what? I have RFA scheduled for me tomorrow!

Unfortunately I don't remember what types of patients he was talking about but I'm Hyperthyroid with a large goiter. Thank you for your story and all the best to you and your family. You're awesome! Thank you! this is incredible ! so many of us are at a complete loss, but not anymore.
Thanks for sharing!Just found out that 1st RFA treatment was done in our country last dec 2023

Thank you for the encouragement! ❤️

So may I know who do you see for your large nodules/thyroid ? any doctor who performs RFA? which state are you? Thank you
It is not as simple as having surgery and taking a pill, you could go through countless pill before you find the right one for your body and encounter lots of problems from the ones that did not work. Dont let these Drs think not decide for you.
Many thanks for the valuable information, Jen. Wishing you the best of health.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I really believe there is a root to why some of us get nodules. Have you found any new information?

RFA stands for radiofrequency ablation. Your cystic nodules could be treated with ethanol ablation PEI).

Thank you for this video 🙏

Most nodules are benign and about 5 to 10 percent are cancerous. Some small cancers can be treated with thermal ablation. I have several videos on this channel where I discuss this with different experts.
@@ItsmeJenagain Thx...i had MRI they said cancer...want to remove whole thyroid. Never mentioned any alt treatments. Go for 2nd opinion in 2 weeks. Been losing my voice since 2021. It has came back a little while taking, pro-biotics, sea moss, Kelp.

You need to be evaluated by a physician. But in my layperson experience, you sound like you're hypothyroid.
I'm in california. Are there any doctors that can help me here? I have a large nodule. 😔
Yes, please visit our website where we maintain a list of drs who do this procedure. Saveyourthyroid.org
Because it's elective, did your insurance cover it?
Mine was covered. It's not always covered though. There is not a CPT code yet, but it can be submitted using a general Endocrine code.
What did they do about the Goiter
I had thyroid RFA to shrink it
I had half of mine taken out and naw they want to take the other half out. Will this work with cancer
It depends on a lot of factors. You may want to watch this video where he talks about this: ua-cam.com/video/BLKeGPzCw7k/v-deo.htmlsi=2mbusEpXD7K67CkR
How many people are getting denied by their insurance to cover RFA??? I had an Edno tell me I was NOT a candidate for RFA, but everywhere I can receive treatment has said I am, in fact, the perfect candidate, but the kicker, these places charges
out of pocket rates of $5k to $10k.
Am in Nigeria how do I get access to this.
I know of a dr in Egypt named Dr. Hossam Ghazi. You can find his contact information on our site saveyourthyroid.org.

Please help
There is a physician in Spain on our list at saveyourthyroid.org. 🙏
Hi, from which place you got ur RFA done?
I had RFA in Virginia, but my dr has moved to UTSW in Dallas TX.
Thank you for sharing your story. I shared this with my niece. Unfortunately she had surgery this past February 2023m
Who does RFA in New Zealand
Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone there just yet. If you hear of anyone, please let me know! We have a list of known drs at saveyourthyroid.org
Thank u thank u fantadtic information
I’m 17 but I have thyroid nodules , May I ask how much does it cost you thank you
It varies based on many factoes.
Dr. Berg's video on thyroid nodules might interest those of you with the problem. He is excellent with natural remedies.
Thank you

Been going to doctors for 13 years and no doc in SC will help me!
So sorry to hear that. You may want to look on our site and see what drs are closest to you. Saveyourthyroid.org
My goiter want down a lot thanks for this
Hi
I have multinodular goiter which is very big in size. What is the maximum size of goiter that RFA treatment is possible?
It really depends on other factors. We have seen very large masses be accepted for treatment and small ones denied. You would need an evaluation from a provider who offers the procedure to determine if you are a candidate.
I’ve been back & forth to Dr’s for the past 2 years
I live in uk
Just keep being given more blood test’s
I insisted last year something be done about my symptoms
I had MRI
& cat scan back then
I only found out after worsening symptoms this week that that they found nodule’s on my thyroid and didn’t even tell me until a few days ago
They just kept saying all tests are normal
Clearly they are not
Now once again they have just arranged for me to make an appointment with a hospital that is several miles away from me for the same tests I’ve already had
I feel like I’m banging my head against a brick wall here
I’ve never heard of the treatment you had
And don’t think we have that option over here
I know your frustration, and I have heard similar complaints from other patients in the UK. There are some drs offering nonsurgical treatment at Royal Berkshire hospital now, although many UK patients travel to other countries in Europe for treatment. You can find a list of known nonsurgical thyroid physicians at saveyourthyroid.org.
So, it wasn’t cancer?
Nope
What was your TSH your t3 and your T4 levels curious were they above 16,000 TSH ?
My levels are always normal. That is not a normal TSH!
When I take the selenium and zinc supplement before meal or after meal ?
I generally take mine with a meal.
You can do only if it the nodule is benign
Sometimes thyroid cancer can be treated. Papillary thyroid cancer, 1 to 2 cm in size, no lymph node involvement, in a favorable location can be treated with thermal ablation.
Why didn't you see an endocrinologist??
I've never been referred to one, since I have always had normal thyroid function.
