I really like how medicine has progressed past surgery. Now use the laser process. You are right in that insurance companies need to pay for these procedures that are less evasive and less expensive.
I had RFA done in Atlanta 2 years ago, Dr said the RFA was a success. But for the thyroid cyst/nodule (it's filled w/water), I had PEI done 6 separate times over the course of a year after the RFA. There has been no visible reduction of the "goiter"/cyst bc it has always filled up with water again immediately. After all of that I still can't see any difference. It's still very noticeable. Also, the needle injection of the numbing stuff has always been very painful, it stings bad. And if the Dr doesn't wait for the numbing injection to take effect, then the injection of the alcohol is also very painful. I mean it hurts. This happened to me repeatedly.
Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear this. Dr. Andrade mentioned that cysts which contain a lot of fibrosis will be resistant to the alcohol because the fibrosis blocks the alcohol from working. I guess that is what is going on with you. 😔

At the time of this video recording, alcohol injection was used for treatment of thyroid cancer recurrences. Its a cheap alternative to additional surgery. HOwever, since that time, thermal ablation treatment options (RFA, MWA, and laser ablation) have grown in prevalence and are now the preferred nonsurgical treatment option for small thyroid cancers that are in a good location. All these comments about goiters / nodules … but what about these nodules AND really out of normal ranges of TSH T3 T4 …. Like going from super Hyper to Hypo thyroid while on Methimazole ? Dr office RN said to stop the Methimazole all together when my daughter was swelling up in legs and seemingly all over … gaining pounds of weight . Is this Methimazole wrecking her liver ?? Just cannot understand why she cannot get thyroid under control w/o removing the whole gland. And then if one doesn’t have a thyroid there’s so many problems too.
