    Hello fellow sua kus! Some updates to share:
    1) Epoxy Grout looks amazing and about 5 months in, there is still 0 peeling for all the WALL tiles and all floor tiles in DRY areas such as kitchen and bedroom. However, there are a few peeling on our bathroom WET area FLOOR tiles - usually corners and tiles with bad tiling lippage to begin with. Wet area wall tiles are still looking great with 0 peeling. We will still recommend you to do Epoxy Grout for all your wall tiles, and floor tiles in dry areas but wouldn't recommend the floor tiles in wet areas if there is bad lippage. You can stick to coloured cement grout instead. Check out how to test for lippage in our Tiling episode here: ua-cam.com/video/ChqpUxf12KI/v-deo.html
    2) We share more about Marble Gum vs Epoxy Grout, and tile suitability in our Bedroom episode here: ua-cam.com/video/H8UstyNBPEM/v-deo.html
    3) You can also check out our master bathroom tour and even more reno tips in our Walk-in-Wardrobe episode here: ua-cam.com/video/vZp8Jg712g8/v-deo.html

    For the grout scar from the removal of the u shaped thing, you can actually insist to your ID to replace that tile as it's actually a defect

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  Рік тому +1

      Ahah yes, we thought it'd be logical for Plumber to cut it first and use temporary capping, followed by the Tiler to tile neatly around three circles instead of the U, but not sure why this could not be coordinated by the ID. Maybe it's a schedule thing or multiple trips eating into the project profits...
      Anyone reading this: If your ID/Tiler/Plumber managed to do this in the past or future, feel free to PM us a pic of the finished look on our IG and we can share a good example in our future reno regrets video!

    Fellow owner at peaks. Was wondering, did you guys relocate toilet fixtures in your bathroom? The final outcome looks remarkably different in layout. (e.g. for my house, the toilet bowl is underneath the windows - our shower is adjacent to it where your sink is, while our sink is where your toilet bowl is). How did you run the pipes differently?

      Hello! For aircon and most of our large appliances, we went with Audio House - we saved alot with the eCashback ecosystem. AH will assign a vendor and ours was "EK". They are not bad! We went for two separate trips and found it useful because they had more time to do the trunking properly ( it took them the entire day for that ). Do check out our other aircon video to see more!

    Glad I found your channel, thank you for so many in depth information! It appears that there's a lot to consider about during the reno period and we can't rely on the ID to settle everything for us (it appears the ID isn't as meticulous as I would like from your videos). Seem like this is a really scary and tiring phase prior to moving in. Any idea how long will a typical reno take after the collection of keys frm HDB?

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  Рік тому +1

      Aww~ We are fortunate to have you join in our journey! :D Yes indeed.. really a roll of the dice for both IDs and Homeowners... either wouldn't see/reveal their true working styles until the reno begins. Thanks for being so observant - we're glad you could empathize so accurately just from watching. We wished we could've been more hands-off too... :/ It's really quite exhausting to be this involved to make sure everything is going on track (but at the same time, fulfilling).
      We're amongst the first few in our block to move in as our rental ended in Nov so the house was in a 'liveable' state already at Week 11 of reno. But as you will see in our next episode, we lived in a phase without carpentry so no kitchen/fridge/bathroom basins/wardrobes for another 2-3 weeks was something that we had to get used to. That, and the constant cleaning-up after vendors' visits.
      Based on our interactions with other homeowners, it seems like most renos are just wrapping up, so averaging around 4 months. Delays are likely to be from carpentry.. ours took 8 weeks from the carpentry on-site measurement but we were very satisfied with the quality of our carpenter so no complaints. You'll also need to work with your ID to make sure that works are lined up timely, especially leading up to the festive periods (year end and lunar new year) otherwise there may be even more delays.
