As a linguist, I always find it interesting to see people attack polyglots online. Most of the world sees bilingualism -- or multilingualism -- in black-and-white, but linguists view it simply as a spectrum. I am learning german in school and Italian at home. in the summer holidays (6 weeks) i am going to try and learn Russian and be as fluent as I can. is this achievable
Chemiker30 99 well that's 0.5 more than me... I'm half way for Japanese but I can't get a proper teacher so I'm just making it through slowly with self-learn
I'm also trying to become a polyglot, but I'll never be a global citizen. No way! In any case, this girl is much cooler than I am,because I learn only European languages...It would be amazing to meet her in real life, because I've never seen a person who speaks so many Asian languages at the same time.
I just couldn't be studying 3-4 languages at the same time i would argue it would be better to learn them one at a time and take the time to master your knowledge at a level where you can easily read books and stuff. I'm a french speaker, i've learn english in school and studied german all by myself and after 3 years now i read 18-19 century and old german poetry so i began to learn Japanese and made nice progress. If you forget everything at the end because you don't use it, it was not worth the time you put into it.
I wish I was as fluent as you are in all those languages! In my video you can see that I still have to improve a bit my foreign languages... But it's a passion to learn languages, right? I wish you all the best
My goal is to become a polyglot, i speak English and Spanish the best of all my languages, next is Hungarian (which i'm learning from my stepdad, he grew up speaking it). Then ASL, it's hard but it's also really fun to learn. I can only sound out korean but i'm so interested in it and i'm really eager to learn!
gas chamber fixer ...deaf people. I definitely have deaf friends who know asl. it has a grammar and sentence structure completely seperate from English. therefore it is a language.
As a Hungarian I can tell how hard to learn our language even if you are native speaker, so I respect that a lot! Outside of Hungarian I can speak English, but I often make grammar mistakes. I should practice speaking not just listening. :D Now I'm learning Korean, I really like it because it does not feel like learning at all, it is so much fun!

+Birane Sarr korean is easier for writing. slightly difficult to speak depending on your exposure and proximity to the language. chinese is difficult for writing and speaking because it's tonal
Birane Sarr But there is no definitive answer, it's down to everyone's opinion. Asian English speaker, i find speaking German easy, but korean would be quite hard.
+Erick Ufiop Have a look at Hello Pal on Android Play Store or iOS App Store. It is a free social language exchange app where you can practice your English :) -- Hello Pal
+Mauricio Montenegro You possibly speak them better than most polyglots speak the many languages they like to boast about. The truth is most polyglots speak some of the languages on a native level, these are mostly three or four. The others get a little rusty over time and need to be refreshed when they prepare to have conversations in these languages. Ich spreche übrigens auch Deutsch als Muttersprache. Ich bin immer geschmeichelt, wenn jemand meine Sprache lernt, insbesondere da sie ja immer als so hart und hässlich angesehen wird. ^^
Okay. I have a question. So I want to know what type of Arabic should I learn to read Quran (holy book of Muslims) I know for Thora it's just Hebrew and for Bible is Latin or Greek. For Quran it's Arabic but which one?
ñuhor līr gūrēnna As ha utsaryu sa'agh there is only one arabic and it is the language of Quran the difference in Arabic countries is just accents if you want to learn i can help you as a Native speaker

+Soy Waz Do people have to learn Spanish? If you learn languages as a hobby I don't see the point of learning one you're not interested in. I speak 5 languages and none of them are Spanish.
+Soy Waz Please, we have enough ethnocentric Americans and Brits saying "English is the bestest language and the hardest ever" as it is. You don't need to compete with them.
Le français est très basic...Chinese as well...Your Chinese is very basic and so is your Japanese...Your hearing is good though and all you need is practice practice and practice. You shouls maybe choose languages that are more essentiaml to you and then concentrate on those languages..This is jus a suggestion...
That makes me feel a little better here I am trying to learn three languages and she just goes on in about in half a dozen. Then again my French is très très basic but it's pretty good considering I've only been learning it for a month and a half.
OK, if your French is only a trhee-month-bvaby then it is pretty good... As said, maybe you should focus on languages that are more useful to you should you choose to work as a translator or interpreter... Asian languages are coming up so picking up Chinese is a good option along with English and French; Japanese could also be one or even Russian as I see the future could be somewhere there as well.... Good luck in your studies
Leonardo Castro That's so true. It's way faster to reach a basic conversational level than to move on from that to advanced/fluent. And yeah my goals arent to be fluent in every single language but just to enjoy myself as this is a side hobby from my actual degree of graphic design. Thanks for the comments!

My personal favourite is Chinese but Korean is a fun language too!
But is the easiest one to learn
Birane Sarr But there is no definitive answer, it's down to everyone's opinion. Asian English speaker, i find speaking German easy, but korean would be quite hard.
Hey, het jy nie die Afrikaans flik vir wikitongues gemaak nie?

I'm a polyglot too. I know English (level 1000)
I guess the only language I can practice with you, is English, because I don't speak the other languages, but I speak Spanish and German.

Why she no learn Spanish?
+Soy Waz Do people have to learn Spanish? If you learn languages as a hobby I don't see the point of learning one you're not interested in. I speak 5 languages and none of them are Spanish.
Learn Spanish because it is the best language
+Soy Waz lol there's no such thing as a "best language" that's bullshit.
yes there is because Spanish is the best
+Soy Waz
Please, we have enough ethnocentric Americans and Brits saying "English is the bestest language and the hardest ever" as it is. You don't need to compete with them.
nice, a woman.
Never seen one of those before right?
Why are polyglots always nerds? Why Charlie Sheen type of people go monolingual? (I'm monolingual BTW)
I'm a polyglot (5 languages + 2 learning). And I'm pretty sure no one would call me a nerd.
You can take seven languages, you sure can take one joke.

JAGE MIDU You don't speak very well either.
Gokuw Sweg How do you know.....??? Have you heard me speak...??
She is not really fluent in some of them.
your French sounds perfect.. i like you and your languages as well,
