Believe me, this girl doesn’t know the Russian language just as she doesn’t know the Ukrainian language. She knows only a few words in Russian and cannot even formulate a sentence correctly. She couldn’t say anything at all in Ukrainian! I think that quality in this case should be more valuable than quantity. And by the way, I'm half Russian and half Ukrainian.

André Gonçalves I am pretty sure that they both have incredible talent and skills to learn and speak in foreign languages, but tbh, Ukrainian and Russian part (as a native speaker) didn’t impress me at all. I’ve heard a few general phrases which are very often used by polyglots as a structure - it is a beautiful language - I don’t speak it well - I want to learn it, etc. And if you watch videos with other people who claim that they are polyglots, you will notice (even with subtitles) how they talk about same or close topics over and over again.

It’s better to learn 2-3 languages and speak fluently so you can always rely on your skills, rather than dozens of them at a mediocre level. Not sure about other languages but her French and Russian for instance are very basic. Survival level to buy an ice cream and that’s it. What the point of impressing people for these ‘polyglots’? I personally speak like 4 or 5 foreign languages and only English pays off by far.

Confidence is only good when u know what ure doing , otherwise u are just like sounding a bit off on everything u say and almost everyone would notice that ur speaking is very limited to those things u have memorized .
Meaning that if u can have a conversation like introductions it doenst make u a speaker . I speak for myself , I can start talking in french or even Italian but I wont go further than her on any of these languages. And I would never claim out there I speak all those Languages . The fact that she can form basic sentences in Portuguese doesnt make her a speaker at all and whatsoever. I guess the title is a bit off not to say its missleading.

Pronunciation matters for shit. Not my problem. The impressive part is that they are 13, with maturity they will properly crystalize their pronunciation, before they even reach the end of their cognitive development. Though girls do mature much quicker than men, and seem to exhibit much earlier signs of intelligence, so I would say it's all very believable. I would recommend they learn whatever they want left, and then focus on reading greek and roman literature before the brain solidifies too much.

Her Ukrainian is really bad. She doesn't use conjugations, she mixing Ukrainian and Russian words and her pronunciation in the end sounds more Russian than Ukrainian. At the beginning she said "я можу Україна, Росія, Санкт-Петербург..." that literally means "I can Ukraine, Russia, St. Petersburg" not I want to Ukraine, that in Ukrainian would be "я хочу в Україну, Росію, Санкт-Петербург" or "я хочу до України, Росії, Санкт-Петербурга". And yeah, both of them are not confident in Ukrainian.

Still, she is very talanted. Good luck in learning Ukrainian!

As someone who speaks 7 of those languages fluently, she is definitely not 100% perfect in any of them, but she’s understandable and conversational. Isn’t that what it’s all about? The effort is what counts, and like someone else said no fear of making mistakes! Think of all the job and travel opportunities. I can only judge on spanish but the only criticism I can make is that she does a very english thing of making the subject explicit every time. This is required in english, but, while understandable and to some extent, acceptable especially in certain regions, it's not correct spanish: "YO barro la casa, y luego YO limpio el piso, y mas tarde YO cocino" -> "barro la casa, luego limpio el piso, y mas tarde cocino" ("I sweep, then I mop, and later I cook"). There is no need of making the subject explicit as it's part of the verb conjugation. the excessive use of the explicit subject changes the meaning of a mundane sentence like that, to a more accusative tone: it's like you're saying "I do all of that, YOU don't help me at all". once she polishes that, it'll be excellent. her pronunciation of ñ is correct, unlike his: he pronounces ñ as a regular n.

Definitely impressed with the accent. She speaks the Spanish much better than the guy. Her Spanish is years ahead of his. His Spanish sounds like the equivalent of what is taught here in the U.S. Spanish classes. I don't think his goal is complete fluency or native level. Maybe more like, "as long as I get words out that are placed correctly in a sentence, they'll understand me".

Monolingual anglophones will be impressed by any claim to "know a language". Fluency in a language is not a joke or easy task, it takes years to get remotely closet to fluent.

@@nitink.a567 Talking fluently is difficult by itself in any language, as well as writing well. Language is difficult to master, is like an art, you need a lot of practise and field work to be good at it. Just because you can articulate a complete sentence doesn't mean you're fluent. Fluency is much more, fluency is being able to have a whole conversation on any matter without hersitating too much or making basic mistakes. For instance, if you tell me you're fluent in English, I would assume you're delusional, because you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Keep practising!
