I had a 2000 Corolla. One of the most reliable cars I've had. Yeah, it had the oil burning problem, it always had a check engine light on for the catalytic converters, shifted rough etc. But you know, as long as I topped up the oil Everytime I gassed up, It never gave me any major issues. My Corolla didn't have the optional abs. So one morning on my way to work, this guy switched lanes in front of me without signalling and slammed on his brakes at a yellow light I was about to clear. Long story short, my rear brakes locked up sending me sliding into him totalling my poor Corolla. But at least the guys insurance payed out when I showed them the dash cam footage. I will never forget my Corolla. It was the most basic car, it was slow, seats were uncomfortable, and it was loud. But I loved it. I knew it would never fail me. Rest easy Robbie Corolla 😂❤️💔

Wayne Buffin Man, I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you are ok. These little econoboxes from back in the day will go forever. But they are easily smashed. They're just so low and small. I feel your pain though. I just bought a new Hyundai Accent. Nice car, but I miss having no car payments...

Same reason why I keep seeing them. Never owned Toyota but people still drive these around because they just last forever. Same with 1990's - early 2000's Honda's.

Corolla's are great long lasting cars. I used to own a 2006 S Model. I sold it last year with only 42k miles because I needed a bigger car with more legroom. I'm over 6ft & I outgrew it, but it was running great & never had any problems & you can't beat the resale value on these.

I drive a 2000 Toyota Corolla, and only now just have realized the difference between mine and the one you have reviewed. 2000 has an RPM gauge also where as this one only contains the Speedometer. I love my corolla a lot though, it's quite zippy and is quite fuel efficient on gas. And honestly was blown away that for a stock audio system, it sounds decent!!! Great Review Kyle, i've enjoyed watching many others that you have made. Cheers, and keep it up!!! Sincerely, William.

Sold them all overtime. Now I am looking for this kind of year Corolla and doing insane research on the body and engine. I guess out of all my cars I have owned I just really feel that corolla are the best. Thx for doing this tour. ^^

I traded my BMW X5 in for a 99 corolla last year after taking a job that has a 38 mile commute plus Chicago traffic. I just hit 160k on it. Runs like a dream. $25 to fill up. Great commuter car. Oh, an I bought the car for $1,999.
Parts are cheap and on amazon prime too. Winter freezes the door handles up and if you’re a gorilla like me, you’ll break them. Cheap and easy install though.

It still looks great and runs like it top. It has 110 k miles on it. I just can't part with it, even though I've toyed with buying a new car....it's such a dependable car. It's really like a family member.

For people hating on Corollas... sorry its not a ferrari or a lambo. It's all you can ask for in a car that you can get brand new for 15k... or a used one that can last for years for 5 grand. This was my 1st car and i had almost NO problems at all with it. I had a 2000 Corolla and i sold it at 227k miles last year. Yeah it's dull and isn't exactly fast or fun to drive but hey, for a 1st car. Reliability, good gas mileage and low matinence is all you can ask for.

The only difference is the "Air Bag" warning light. My "Seat Belt" light does not work and neither does the chime to warn you to buckle you seat belt. The place I take it to for service said that there is a short which is cauisng it not to come on. They said the only way to fix it is to replace the entire panel

I do have a device called the ScanGaugeII which connects to the OBD port, The ScanGuage display various info about how the car is running including the RPM's. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and once the weather is nicer I will do little tour of the car. It won't be as good as your videos though.

I’d buy this if I need a cheap daily driver. Even though it’s beige, I don’t like beige. But still, it’s a nice car.

@xcmskim4 If I'm not mistaken, entry-level CE model in those years only had a tachometer with the manual transmission. I'm surprised this one has power windows, since most CE's in those years didn't.

first gen 1zz-fe engine is notorious for excessive engine oil burning if not maintained properly. mine use to burn 1 qt/ 150 miles hwy. local seems to drink less. Check it out yourself. Toyota later admitted the piston ring design defect in Toyota Austrilia and corrected it in the 2nd gen 1zz-fe 1.8L vvti
