    What brings Forks and Fishes together is the chocolate covered banana scene in which Oliver Platt acts beautifully. The culmination of Richie finally understanding his purpose, the audience being shown how he remembered this minute detail from 5 years ago, and the impact it could have on another person.. Just a great bit of TV.

    I almost cried watching the Forks episode. It was so amazing to watch Richie's transformation. I want to see that transformation in myself. It's inspiring, because I'm there. Don't know where I belong, which career path to take, low on motivation, miserable, because I feel like the people around me have discovered their passions and are thriving and I'm just wasting time getting older and am not where I want to be in life. Seeing his transformation makes me feel like it's not too late for me to get it together.

    Mikey's throwing forks in the Fishes episodes. Richie's cleaning forks in the Forks episode. Then, they run out of forks in the finale. This of course was done on purpose, but it's one of those things that you don't think about right away. It's the subtlety, that turns a good show into a great one. When you are able to walk away from the show, think about it, then say, "hold on, that connected to that, and that in episode 3 connected to that in episode 8." When that happens, you're really watching a piece of art.

    I agree. As much as I love Fishes and how it's a great peak into why everyone is the way they are "Forks" was definitely the feel good episode that we deserved. That episode was a great punchline to that conversation Richie and Carmy had in the basement where Richie expressed his fear about being rejected for not having a place in the restaurant and his feelings of inadequacy. Carmy showed Richie what Richie couldn't see himself.

    Oliver Platt brings it, I'll watch whatever he's in ever since the West Wing. "Fishes" can't really be topped, but it's something I probably won't re-watch. So much chaos and familiarity with how a family can devolve over an evening that hit very close to home. Oliver is right about Forks though too. I'd put it up against the last episode of Shoresy season 1. Favorite moment is when they're briefing the reservations for that night and the supervisor says that the check will not get dropped on the teacher who's life-long dream was to eat there. That whole scene is a masterpiece.

      I definitely did cry a bit at the scene you mentioned, and the part where Donna is yelling at Natalie while she tries to calm her mother down.

      @OldLadyReacts 2 місяці тому +1

      @@roems6396 Oh, I didn't see this question until now. But for me, it was a combination of everything going on at once. The blowhard guys trying to one-up each other, the mom drinking more and more and trying to make it "special" even though nobody else cared, the escalation of the constant noise in the house knowing that it was only going to get worse as the episode went on. The snide comments, the poking at each other for no reason, the arguments, people getting offended by innocent observations. Dude was using heavily for a long time. You have to show signs. This humanized Mikey. He wasn't this amazing brother that let his addiction ruin him. No, he was a functioning addict, that was shitty to his family. Understandably, but he was shitty. This gave him so many more layers. It gave layers to everyone. Huge reason why that scene worked so well is because a lot of those stunt casts are actually from Chicago. So while it was crazy that John mulaney and Bob Odenkirk show up, they’re actually from Chicago, so it wasn’t too out of place.

    Always enjoyed Oliver Platts acting, he always makes his character shine. It’s too bad season 3 was a thumbs down compared to the first two seasons.

    Oliver Platt is a tremendously talented actor with a plethora of awards for his work but he will always be Jimmy King to me, BAYBAY

    I kinda feel like Platt's character is going to be the secret villain of the whole show. Not because he's going to turn all mobster, but because he seems to keep everyone stuck thinking that their old way of doing things is the best way, because it always worked for him. And he doesn't seem to care that it's not working for them.

    Season3/Episode 8 is an absolute masterclass in acting between Abby Elliot and Jamie Lee Curtis. Hulu even halted commercials for the entire hospital scene.

    The stress you feel is off the charts. I'm rewatching the show via a UA-cam reaction video channel. They are getting close to "fishes" and I can't wait for them to see it. I wonder if Mr Platt or anyone on the show has watched any UA-cam reaction channels?

    Fishes was the amazing stage performance that felt like real life because many of us have lived it in one sense or another. Forks is the redemption that we all aspire to happen to people we care for. Oliver Platt is amazing and love everything he's done.
