  • In this video we take a look at Blackmagic Production Camera (BMPC 4K) and compare it to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k (BMPCC 4K). This video is not a technical review, but more my thoughts on both cameras.
    In this test we use 17-70 mm Sigma lens and the classic HELIOS 44.
    On the Pocket Camera the lenses are adapted with VILTROX Focal Reducer 0.71.
    The test are shot in CDNG and BRAW.

    Finally someone put these two side by side, i would love if you focus a little more on the real goodies of the old BMPC his global shutter, the CINEMADNG support, the battery life and cost of media storage (nowadays is cheaper a SSD than a SD, also the helios 44 isnt a 44mm lens is a 58 as far i remember...

      Thanks for watching, the global shutter are super nice, and I wish it was in all Blackmagic cameras. CDNG are not somthing that I fell sorry for not having in the pocket 4k, in fact I like BRAW better and I wish it was in the production camera via firmware update(this will not happen sadly). About storage if you shoot on Samsung T5 SSD on the pocket 4k if is very cheap.

    For me the BMPC has better image, it looks more real, I really love that.
    Thanks for the video.

      Thanks for watching, the thing I miss in the new cameras is the global shutter.

    Great Review, you forgot to mention that the Production camera got an S35 sensor, while the Pocket only Micro Thirds and (the regardless name) is not so small...

    Hi Luke, thanks for the comparison. I bought a BMPCC4k a few years ago but sold it for the Bmpcc OG. I was interested in the 4K Production camera due to the global shutter. Do some models have more or less fixed pattern noise, or is it just a matter of proper firmware and careful exposure? Thanks for your opinion.

    As someone who actually has the production camera 4k i will say 3 things straight away:
    *it does not fit on my gimbal, even unbalanced on gimbals that are supposed to support its weight due to the weird ass form factor
    *it has an extremely limited iso range and poor low light performance
    *it doesn't have blackmagic raw
    Other than that if you are shooting with a shoulder rig or tripod i would say it is still a very good camera and even David Sandberg has still used it as a B cam to shoot parts of lights out and shazam. It is still the camera he uses on his youtube channel, so it is obviously perfectly capable of getting good results.

      How bad is the iso performance. Can you go to 1600 iso and be clean

    • @DukeDenverFilm
      @DukeDenverFilm  3 роки тому

      On the BMPCC 4k yes. On BMCC I would not go over 800 iso.

      Use the Crane 2 works fine for me even with heavy lenses I have added an extra weight of 200g in front as the cam is back heavy you can even go for a 500g

    Would you mind shooting 30 seconds with the production camera walking with / behind a person. Ala Darren Aronofsky style.

      Sure when I have the time, but it have a global shutter so there will be no yellow effect. Remember to join my filmmaker giveaway learn more here ua-cam.com/video/UGiZyg72H30/v-deo.html🙂

    i have the blackmagic production. should i sell it and buy this pocket 4k? i would have to spend around $600 . its for music videos with controlled light

    • @DukeDenverFilm
      @DukeDenverFilm  5 років тому +1

      I depends on your work, if you want to shoot in RAW I would go with BMPCC 4K and use BRAW. But the production camera are a good camera and if you have control over the light, you don't need the lowlight of BMPCC 4k.

    Very hard to make decision because these images always flickers. Im sure u could make edit better just moving graded and ungraded images separately to give us easier way to compare,
    ps. I dont care how graded image looks cause u could grade this in any way much more important to show ungraded images of same location with same conditions

    I recomend you plan your reviews first, because it's soooooo confusing, it's not clear at all and you don't speak fluently, as you are thinking each word before speaking. Try to create a script, put footage side by side (we can't see absolutely no comparison with images in sequence).
