There are several big differences between the 8700 and the 8700H. There are 21 different parts exclusive to the 8700H only 4 of which are noticeable on the outside. The H series can use a much bigger needle, has a different needle bar, different shuttle hock, etc.
Thank you for the informative video, but according to the Juki website the DDL-8700 is for medium weight material, 5,500 sti/min, and the needles that fit are#14, 18, 134 (90Nm). For the Del-8700H it is for heavy-weight material. It does 4,000 sti/min, and the needles that fit are #19, 21, and 23, 134 (130Nm). It has more torque, which it is needed when working with heavier materials.
There are other differences. The needle bar stroke is about 5 mm longer on the "H" than the other. Also the machine is timed for thicker needles and thread
This seems to be a common type of comment on these Goldstar videos, where the guy seems to know little to nothing about the machines he’s “comparing” and just stumbles through the websites product description with his annoying lisp.
I changed my ddl H to sew lighter fabric changed the feedgod and plate I would like to use an 80 needle on my machine is it ok to do that. I do have the juki 8700 H
Hello, please let me know the difference in pricing and is the 8700H good for making heavy bags like with velvet, denim and bags with cotton and vinyl linings, sewing all those layers together?

Hey there, I’m in the uk, I have an 8700 H, and I’m wondering what type of feed dog and/or needle plate I would need to be able to sew a medium weight fabric? Because I do use heavy weight and leathers for bag making, but I’m thinking of going into dressmaking too. So is there anything I could do to adjust to a medium setting..? Thanks for any advice xxx
Uh, no, not the same. There is another video that show there are about 21 parts that are difference. The main is the plate, feed dog and extra heavy foot spring. The rest is the same.

Will sell v reasonable price 👍
The H version has a more powerful electric motor - 550Watt vs standard 450Watt.
This seems like it would have been the obvious thing to examine! 🙄 Thanks for saying that!
I went back to the Juki site and see they screwed up...their 8700H PDF opens to a 8700L...what machine do you have with a 7mm stitch?
