Jim Venetos has been teaching this for years. Todd Graves also with the Moe Norman swing.
Vertical Balanced swing is the opposite you stand open to the target but keep your shoulders parallel. All these styles promote the correct shoulder action and an in to out swing arc as long as you learn where to place the ball in your stance. I have found the vertical balance swing has given me way more club head speed and distance. All available to view on UA-cam.

Alex: Just want you to know that out of desperation, I tried this after I saw a similar video. I took it to the course and for the last 4 rounds (18 holes each) I've never scored better. Everything - and I mean everything - goes straight. But I do it with all my clubs and the result is the same. I'm hitting everything straight. Lost a little yardage on my driver but it is always straight and still am able to score par or bogie. Not sure I'll ever change this. I call it my "back-to-the-target drill. Looks weird, but it works.

    I am loving your videos
    They really click with me
I’d love to see the full lessons with some of your high handicappers (if they agree of course)

I do this drill in the opposite way also, Standing completely open, then halfway open , then slightly open. Really helps for contact, ball position and finding the bottom of the swing arc.

Alex: I took your point your right foot in and arm tucked and straight on the back swing video to heart and it fixed my pull.
I’m probably losing distance but it’s working and part of my routine and swing now. Will this help me take the training wheels off or should I keep pointing that right toe in and let it fly since it’s straighter than it’s ever been with my irons?

Went out and played 9 holes with a couple of mates tonight. I only take a half set out it was the 3 wood half set. Added this to my pre shot routine, my fellow playing laughed when I did it, then smashed it 240 off the tee, which is good for me at 52 years old, they then asked where I got it. Might expect some new subscribers Alex. 👍

I've been dropping my rear foot back all season and I've never hit it farther or cleanly, even when on the course. I basically have the toes of my trail foot inline with the arch of my lead foot.

This seems like it would help with keeping shoulders closed and emphasizing the need to rotate through impact. But seems it would mentally make over the top people throw their hands out even more because they are nowhere near the correct club path and you have now turned them towards the direction that they do not want to hit the ball.

The so-called bias over the top is a problem of mine, and from J Venetos' explanations, I found my problem to be rooted in right arm dominance as a right- hitter. Your version is a little different, so thanks for the ideas.

I the last few shots when you’re holding your driver, isn’t the ball too far forward?

I forgot to add: I also use this for chipping around the green. Works wonderfully!

Often think why teaching says aim the fee parallel to the target line - if swinging an axe into the base of a tree you would stand open or closed to the line of the swing

More likely you just can't golf. I know multiple scratch golfers who go back to this drill fr time to time. Quit crying

    • @blue24563
      @blue24563 2 місяці тому

@@DinkinFlicka11 yeah right. I was a struggling 12 handicap for over 20 years. Then I stopped taking lessons and became a +1 player within 6 months.
Ignoring these coaches who have no idea how to teach mid handicappers is the best thing I ever did.
And it’s obvious you don’t know any scratch golfers.

You should really consult a back doctor before advising this. Ruptured L4 or L5 disks are quite possible. Ask me how I know.
