*Please think about the swing this way going forward you know it makes sense!*

Perfect timing been struggling with this for last couple of weeks. The idea of slow slow fast through impact makes senses. I knew I had to be fast after impact but was losing all my speed before. Slower back swing is the key for me. Cheers Alex

Great stuff. Things I always try to focus on. Couple of thoughts and things I do is sometimes when playing, and things not going as great, I will swing left handed only. I can't get too fast back and then let it fire through. Forces a pause also because no right arm to dominate the swing. Also, a great tip from VJ once told on the range is to think of the number 18 during the swing. Say it. If you say it too fast it seems odd. Slowly said works. Now do the swing the same way saying it.

Excellent video Alex. This has been my number one golf swing flaw. I realized this from watching your previous videos. It’s always helpful to drill this into my head though. Thanks.

This is a great swing thought, i believe i have been rushing down from the top lately. Very timely for me Alex. Thank you.

Unable to play at the moment due to a hand operation, really keen to get out there and try this. It's good to hear the impact it has with others though. Brilliant videos

Sam Snead! Classic smooth swinger who accelerated beautifully through impact. Hit it a MILE for the steel-persimmon-balata era.

Hey Alex. Do you know of any swing speed data for the entire downswing (not just at impact). It would be interesting and informative to see your data and compare that to the average amateur who is struggling with speed.

Tommy Armour had an entire chapter in his book entitled 'The Pause That Means Good Timing." In a discussion of Macdonald Smith's swing in this chapter, he said that the pause at the top made it impossible to achieve your fastest hand speed in the first half of the downswing, so you had no choice but to make it happen at the bottom.

Maybe the good, old TW drill (which he hated…) make a little pause an top of your backswing will help to get the feeling for this

I'm waiting for Apple to come out with a set of golf clubs that include telemetry. You could finish a round and go home plug your clubs into the PC and get a Alex sounding voice to critique your game.😂

  • @richvestal767

Because most people loose most of their power by accelerating too quickly at the top of the backswing.
You shouldn't really be accelerating your driver before your shaft is back at parallel to rhe ground in the downswing right as you're about to strike the ball.
